Low-carb bootcamp

Week 9 - Low Carb Bootcamp - the finish line is in sight!

Morning Campers Flowers

As ever, here's the spreadsheet for all your confessions

Some interesting conversations last week, as well as some encouraging losses and NSVs. Glosses over all talk of poppadoms

I'm so pleased it's working so well for so many of you, but more particularly how well this WOE seems to be working in its broader, longer term sense. That's actually the critical thing for the future - finding a way to incorporate the low carb principles into how you eat for the rest of your life, while still having a life!

A difficult couple of days for me, as I'm off to Paris with work, so my meals are largely out of my control. Dinner at the hotel should be OK, but I have no idea what will happen at lunch time, as I'm stuck in a research facility, being catered for. And worse, Eurostar is on strike tomorrow, when I'm supposed to be coming home, so I have no idea if I'm in Paris for two or three days!!!!

Anyway, there are worse places to be stuck, I suppose Smile

Here's to a good week for us all - hope it's not too cold and windy wherever you are.

Halloumi rocks my world, nowlook, but I tend to think of it as a side or a main rather than Cheese.

Perhaps it’s the meltability factor. Hmm

Sorry to hear you're struggling, @GuyMartinsSideburns - have a big , and then another one , and look after yourself. In a bad spot, any help is good - great - help, and that includes the pills. Flowers

Well done @tootstastic, @SlinkyDinkyDoo, @1stMrsF, @MiniCooperLover and all the other losers - sounds like it's been a good week 👍👍💪💪

I'm 1lb off reversing last week's gain. Am going for a strict week and a change in exercise - run yesterday, shred/swim today rather than my normal walking and Pilates to try and shock the body a bit. Have also done 18:6 today so may try and carry that on although I do get hangry so may need some flex on that

@ShagMeRiggins and @venusandmars I luuuuuuurve all cheese other than goats cheese of which the smell can make me retch . Cucumber sticks to hoist out baked Camembert is bloody amazing

@MrsKoala how tall are you? I'm currently 11.4 and 5.5 (and a half - very important that.... ). And I don't find a Hobbs 12 generous. Having said that it may be my shape as it's always the thighs that are tight (gaping trouser pockets) and waist on the larger side.

@GuyMartinsSideburns Thanks

Greetings from Germany. Thank heavens for my emergency pepperami. Nothing is open. No food!!

Summersazz - I'm 5ft 10. I've always found Hobbs sizing big. When i'm my fighting weight of 11.7st i'm usually a 14 in places like FCUK or Gap but only a 10/12 in Hobbs. 10 on the waist 12 on the arse and thighs. I can wear 10 skirts in an a line but still need 12 trousers even if they are wide legged. I wear a 14 in the tops and coats because, despite being flat as a pancake in the boob dept, I have the shoulders and back of an east german shot putter (hence my man in drag fashion fear).

Today I did 16:8 so had granola and yogurt and berries at noon. Cauliflower soup at 3.30 and then IPD moussaka at 7.30. I think I will try to fast till noon tomorrow again as I am feeling better on it.

I like reading about different ways people are trying

I was mulling over this while putting DD to bed. We’ve had decades of eating the wrong shit and I actually have no idea what to do for the best. I’m accepting it’s gonna take a while to work this out. But it can be frustrating because I absolutely loathe excess fat and want it gone now!!

Ah, bonjour mes petits chouxfleurs!

This. THIS is what greeted me on arrival at the research facility. I'm going to have to sit here for the next 4.5 hours tormented by these. There's another bowl-ful to my right as well. As far as I know, the facility is only expecting 2 of us.

Have been mainly lurking as have been struggling a bit but really interested to read about the 16:8 fasting. I want to give it a go in the hope that it will help me get my arse in gear again. Not sure if this has been asked before, sorry if it has but while I can happily forgo breakfast I’m not sure I can go without a cuppa in the morning. Would a splash of milk break the fast?

I still have been having tea in the morning with lacto free milk.

I have lost another lb! I always seem to be lighter on a Tuesday. This is going to sound crazy so apologies but I seem to have lost it on my face. Confused My face looks really different today. It's not just me but DH asked if i'd changed my hair and a couple of school mums mentioned I looked different. I caught sight of my face when cleaning my teeth and my cheek bones are much more defined and my eyes and lips look bigger! Like I've had a weird filter put on my face. I'm not complaining - it's better than looking knackered. It's just strange.

Anyway, my size 12 Hobbs trews have arrived and they fit me, in fact are a little on the loose side. Hurrah!

Red perperamis are lovely. I have had to stop buying them otherwise I just eat that and chunks of cheese instead of real food.

BIWI - I feel your pain. I have been making everyone hot x buns for breakfast and the smell of them toasting then dripping with melted butter is torturous.

I’m not sure if yesterday was a fluke high or today is a fluke low, but I weighed in at 11 stone 3!!! That’s a full stone down on boot camp, only 10lb to lose by August now!

Recovered from Sunday so instead of staying the same, I'm actually 1lb down. I have a run planned for tonight but the weather isn't looking too good.

I don't think I've ever been so determined and this group has really focused my mind. 1 more lb and I'll be just in the healthy bmi so I want to keep going until I'm comfortably in "healthy".

I really thought my weight has only recently crept up in the last 2 years but looking at my fitness pal logging history it's actually clear it's been since 2016! Genuinely shocked where the time has gone but 2019 is the rest I got healthy!

Ugh DH and I have got some sort of virus plus I’m due on so I’m struggling
I ate breakfast because I felt shattered (3 eggs with butter) but then I had a foul taste in my mouth so I ended up eating pork scratchings and cheese as was craving salt.
Now feel really guilty for eating all that but at least I didn’t eat a carb

BIWI Just think of the farts that await you if you succumb to croissants. Puts me right off bread and crisps thinking about the side effects!!

Toots you're doing fantastically! Getting down a stone bracket is brilliant!!

@MrsKoala yay for the trousers fitting - I bought some wide leg navy ones in a 12 which fit fine other than the length as I'm a short arse

Day 2 of 18:6 and going ok. Skipped breakfast yesterday and had lunch at 1 and dinner at 7. I did eat my 'breakfast' yoghurt at 3pm as hungry so no less calories but kept within time. No breakfast today and have done Pilates and a 6k run so am filling up with fizzy water and some tea. Same as @Siameasy a life without tea just isn't going to happen, fast or no fast, carbs or otherwise! Grin

Out for a drink with a friend tonight so need to avoid the temptation 'just to have one'. Feeling positive for another step change down this week but know that I'm the only one who can deliver (or equally scupper!) it.

Off to make a halloumi salad now and chilli with cauliflower rice for tea

Dodge those croissants!

It's German enforced fasting for me. Yesterday I had a couple of pepperami plus 2 pre-sliced cheese slices with pate. It wasn't the plan, but it won't kill me. No wine! Not even in the airport! And I thought wine in an airport was a rule!!

Nothing LC here for lunch. I've had a very watery soup that had veg and something like tofu in it. We're going out for dinner tonight so hoping I can eat better. Drinking loads of water for now to kid tummy into thinking it's bad something Hmm

But in good news, the guy I'm working with/for is also low carb. I'm yet to find out if he's high fat or a different dietary choice. A bit of a relief not to have to explain myself Grin

I keep looking at things and thinking, "I would have eaten that". DD had disgusting box mac and cheese for lunch. I looked at the leftover and thought that. It is not nice and tastes bad and made me feel horrible but I would still have eaten it. Now I feel good. Box of donuts at work, would have eaten one. Sugary crap that would have made me feel shit two hours later. Now they have gone stale and been thrown out.

It's a very weird feeling. I still want good homemade pasta and garlic mash, but not crap carbs.
