Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I hope that the start of week 5 puts to rest the troublesome weeks 3 & 4, and we can get on with the job of losing weight from here on in!

Just remember that weight loss from now on will be slow and steady. Unless you have masses to lose, you should expect to see around 1-2lbs a week loss.

I hope that the scales, or the tape measure, are kind to you!

Here's to a great week

Livelong how about committing to posting your meals here every day for a week. Studies show that just writing down your food log help you stick to eating well. It also allows more experienced Bootcampers to critique your meals and make suggestions.

I tried some of that Naked "rice" last night.

Utterly awful!

It smelt of fish and had the texture of frogspawn.

I had about two mouthfuls and had to put my dinner down and sprint back in the kitchen as I'd portioned up some leftovers to take to work today for lunch, and I needed to separate the food from the rice IMMEDIATELY in case they got too mingled. Ughughughugh

BrassicaBabe · 13/02/2019 07:19

Plans for today

L: out for lunch at a burger place. Will have naked burger, coleslaw and salad with mayo
D: roast pork with fat and crackling plus buttered savoy

Will skip breakfast because other 2 meals are quite substantial.

Lots of water. Day 3 NO WINE.

No time for exercise today I think

Have a good one folks x

BrassicaBabe · 13/02/2019 07:21

@BalloonSlayer did you rinse that "rice" first? I believe that makes it more palatable?

Siameasy · 13/02/2019 07:57

Going to a funeral today so eating breakfast as I doubt I’ll be able to eat much at the reception
Hard boiled eggs with butter and plain yoghurt blended with strawberries yum

Iamnotacerealkiller · 13/02/2019 08:53

Ahh god! i'm planning on making chocolates for easter so have been looking online for it. Now the Amazon adverts on here keep flashing chocolate at me!!!

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 13/02/2019 08:57

I feel your pain cerelkiller I've been looking at valentine biscuit recipes😱

Iamnotacerealkiller · 13/02/2019 09:15

I had a dream about eating carby food last night. i have been left with an overwhelming guilt about falling off the wagon and have to remind myself im actually fine. I don't even remember what it was about and only realised i had a carby dream after trying to work out why i was feeling the guilt. I have been thinking about doughnuts all morning though so maybe that's what it was...Confused

Iamnotacerealkiller · 13/02/2019 09:16

It has made me change my mind about buying chocolate in the shops today. was planning to buy some extra dark stuff and have a square a night but i no longer think this is a good idea so its coming off the shopping list.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 13/02/2019 09:24

Crack in will power yesterday - ate a Danish pastry. They stared at me for an entire two hour breakfast meeting. No excuses, just weakness!

Massive, massive respect @venusandmars for ignoring the bread.

Good start to my day today. Exercise class at 6am.

B: two boiled eggs
L: prawns in spicy tomato and feta sauce
D: low carb cauli cheese with mushrooms and bacon

Tomorrow - no idea about dinner but can safely say there will be a little bit of wine and chocolate. Will just suck it up if it has a negative effect on the spreadsheet of fabulousness.

LazydaysofSummer · 13/02/2019 09:48

I'm another one planning on just doing the M&S dinner tomorrow, but I'm naively thinking it won't be too off plan! Hmm

The worst will be Coquille St Jacques which is my favorite starter in the world, they come in at 13g Carb each, but I plan to try and avoid the mash bit to limit the damage.
Steak and either peas and spring greens or asparagus for main.
Dessert will be cheese selection.
(The Billionaires dessert and chocs will be donated to my son!)

Obviously some wine will be drunk, but while it feels indulgent for a Thursday, I'm hoping it won't do too much damage. I also plan to not drink Friday night, to balance it out and have booked a 9 am gym class Saturday as an extra encouragement to abstain.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 13/02/2019 09:51

Can I have the spicy prawn and feta recipe please unexpected?

Does anyone have a recipe for beurre blanc without the wine? It's for fish.

Doilooklikeatourist · 13/02/2019 09:54

Made the granola 👍
And , no I’m not eating the whole bowlful ( it’s just cooling )
Smells wonderful, I drizzled olive oil on it , not butter and used ground almonds , not sliced

No V day plans here sadly as DH is working 12 hour night shifts at the moment 'tis a bit "passing ships in the night" Right now. It's ok tho, it's always like this at this time of the year for us (and comes with the turf for our fortunate /lovely life)

I hear everyone with the wine struggles. I have to set hard boundaries as I love the stuff (literally have a vineyard next door 😬🙈)

Day on a plate

B - almond milk coffee, proscuttio cream cheese rolls
L - bowl of homemade beef chili, spinach, avo, cheese
D - roast salmon fillet, asparagus and a dill/yogurt /lemon/mayo sauce
S - 85% dark chocolate (2 squares)

WhatTheFronti · 13/02/2019 10:06

@Doilooklikeatourist that looks delish! I like the use of ground almonds... might have to make a batch now!

nowlook · 13/02/2019 10:12

I'm out tonight with one of my former work colleagues. There will be wine. I'm going to alternate with sparkling water though. I haven't seen her since before Christmas, so am hoping for a comment or two about looking slinky (even if I have to lead her to the comment kicking and screaming). Menu looks fine for me, fortunately.

Hope you all have fab days!

Bungalowbeth · 13/02/2019 10:16

That granola looks lovely!

I’m off for a day out in my favourite place for V Day tomorrow, hopefully get lots of walking in as I’ve been a bit lazy the last few weeks after a good start.

We are then staying at a hotel (as favourite place is 100 miles away), just been looking at the menu and think I can get away with a steak and some salad. There will be wine though!

samii1989 · 13/02/2019 10:16

I love strawberries, but I'm trying to only have them every so often. Exactly how much can I be eating ideally?

BIWI · 13/02/2019 11:05

Well, a 'sensible' portion @samii1989! That means not a whole punnet at a time Grin

nowlook I met a friend who I'd hadn't seen for a while, and in the meantime I'd lost almost 2 stones. She said nothing about my new svelte shape. Eventually I asked her whether she noticed and she replied "I hadn't really, but I do remember that when I saw you last year I noticed you were really fat and I was wondering how to tell you." Shock

B - avocado
L - left over chicken and mozzarella bake with salad
D - pork with cheese and cream, served with butter roast red cabbage and vinaigrette

KiteMarked · 13/02/2019 11:46

Ouch ouch ouch, venusandmars!! That would really upset me.

In fact, I really hated it when people noticed I lost weight after having my baby a few years ago. It made me feel like my appearance before the weight loss was heavily scrutinised without my knowledge. Yuk.

BrassicaBabe · 13/02/2019 11:53

That's harsh @venusandmars! Two stone is heaps! I expect people to notice after 3lbs!!

Rshard · 13/02/2019 12:04

Blimey harsh words from your friend @venus!

Valentines plans sound lovely, you’ve reminded me to go and buy a card!

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 13/02/2019 12:22

My weight gain / loss has hardly ever been commented on except by other women who struggle with their weight. But I also have to confess I'm not very good at noticing when people fluctuate in weight, although I think I would have noticed / said something about two whole stones!

More generally I notice if people look "well" - moving confidently/energetically, good posture, clear skin, happy in themselves. And if you have lost weight then you'll probably have all of those.

@SlinkyDinkyDoo I don't do much weighing / measuring in my cooking but to the best of my ability here's my spicy prawns/tomato/feta recipe:

For 2 people plus some leftovers for next day lunch:

2 small shallots, as finely chopped as you can be bothered
2 garlic cloves, as finely chopped as you can be bothered
Enough prawns for two people (I use a whole bag of frozen prawn from the supermarket - whatever's in that)
Tin of tomatoes whizzed up in food processor/Nutribullet, or equivalent passata sauce - add more if you like more sauce.
2-3 tablespoons ground almonds
1/2 block of feta, cut into cm squares
Paprika
Tabasco

Method:
Soften the onions in large non-stick pan/wok with the oil of your choice.
Add the prawns and cook until just pink (if raw, add after tomatoes already cooked and you're just warming them up).
Add tomato sauce and ground almonds
Add paprika and tabasco to taste. I like x2 teaspoons of paprika and a splash of tabasco which gives it a gently bite.
Cook until bubbling gently.
Add feta and stir over heat for long enough so that it is half melted into the sauce.

Serve with pasta parmesan, and greens such as green leaf spinach or broccoli.

Optional - top with heap of fresh rocket.

(You can see why I haven't pursued a career in cookery writing!)

BIWI · 13/02/2019 12:46

Ouch @venusandmars! It's difficult though, sometimes, for people to know what to say. You can't tell someone you think they're fat, clearly - but also, if you comment on their weight loss, implicitly you're telling them that you knew they were fat! But that still must have hurt.

We know how well you've done though Smile Flowers

@UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea that sounds lovely! My only question would be how many carbs there might be in the almonds, as well as the tomatoes/passata, as they do vary. As an example, Sainsbury's passata is 3.6g carbs per 100g whereas Napolina's is 4.3g. And a whole carton is 500g.
