Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I hope that the start of week 5 puts to rest the troublesome weeks 3 & 4, and we can get on with the job of losing weight from here on in!

Just remember that weight loss from now on will be slow and steady. Unless you have masses to lose, you should expect to see around 1-2lbs a week loss.

I hope that the scales, or the tape measure, are kind to you!

Here's to a great week

@mandelinka I so get the 'rib cage' stuff. I am quite short and so my babies lay up under my ribs and I will never again have the slim torso I once had.

*@firstmrsf@ oh yes on chef's salad.... whatever was left over in the kitchen, but always included cheese cubes and salad stuff (if I remember correctly from my days as a kitchen porter)

@athelstanetheunready I once got on a plane with sinusitis, it spread to my ears. I arrived at my destination to meet with a group of people who were blind. I couldn't hear, they couldn't see. It wasn't a great meeting!

@brassicbabe and @howorthia I bounce around a 2 /3 pound weight, but overall, week by week by week, is the overall bounce going in the right direction?

The scale 'hopscotch' Oh God, I so do that. Today, in particular because it was spreadsheet day, I hopped on and off, and moved the scales (I know it always weighs less in the garage). I did get to 0.5lb off rather than 1lb on... but I stuck with being honest, and accepting a weight gain.

And of course I am now secretly hoping that it will look like a massive 'woosh' next week....

ShagMeRiggins · 11/02/2019 14:01

Slinky Justin Bieber and his new bride Hailey Baldwin are also riding the zozosuit fashion trend.

I’ll do mine later this week, if I can find time to breathe and weep.

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 11/02/2019 14:50

Yeah, I didn't look like that in my dotty outfit but nice to know we're all so on trend.

venus probably shouldn't laugh but I did. Reminded me of See no evil Hear no evil 🙈🙉

Haworthia · 11/02/2019 15:22

I had a bunless burger from Five Guys today. It arrived in a tray with my choice of toppings and cutlery. Didn’t come with the lettuce I asked for though, and I was too British to go back and ask for it (the server struggled enough when I said “bunless”. Ended up having to say “no bun” Grin)

Frankly I think they should knock some money off the bill. At least when you ask for a naked burger at GBK you get loads of salad. At Five Guys you just get the same as everyone else... minus the bun.

Haworthia · 11/02/2019 15:23

I should add that “bunless” is the word they use on the menu, so I didn’t think it would confuse anyone!

1stMrsF · 11/02/2019 15:29

Ooh it looks tasty though @Haworthia!

Dia12 · 11/02/2019 15:41

That looks yum @Haworthia! I'm a big GBK fan but only go once in a while as it's so calorific....

Poor you @AthelstaneTheUnready, that sounds awful. Hope you shake it off soon. Thanks

AandL · 11/02/2019 16:28

Well done everyone on the losses. My official weigh in day is tomorrow but tbh I just want to skip it, a peak this morning is suggesting a gain of 2-3lbs after my Thurs+Fri off plan, but hey it was 6+on Saturday morning..
I just want to have occasional off roads without it taking me weeks to get back to where I was ffs!!!
My zozosuit arrived today, not sure when to do it, my self dislike is pretty high today..
And I can't go to KB class tonight because I hurt my back yesterday :(

Moany Mary me!

AandL · 11/02/2019 16:30

In less Moany news tried this new recipe yesterday and it was great

Well 5 guys are arseholes aren't they? A zillion pounds for a very mediocre burger.

You also get extra salad at Byron Burgers if you get it 'skinny'. I hate that term applied to food, it screams 'I'm on a diet because I'm fat everyone'.

I had a bunless incident last week in McDonalds and am only just over it. Had the misfortune to find myself in a shitty town with only McD, KFC or Greggs. I ordered it via the self service, customised it requesting no bun. 2 minutes later I got summoned to the counter - thought wow that's fast food - and the woman bellowed Grill? had no fucking clue what she was on about. In the end I said my order should say without bun (it did). She gave me a look and shouted through to the back she don't eant no bun to much teeth sucking! Soooo fucking embarassing. When it finally came (also without the lettuce, also too English to go back) I felt like a total wanker sitting there with my knife and fork! 😄

MrsTerryPratcett · 11/02/2019 16:35

I gained a tiny bit. I know why though. Too much processed crap. Frantically eating buttery spinach now!

Haworthia · 11/02/2019 16:40

This is exactly why I’ve been reluctant to ask for a bunless McDonalds burger SlinkyDinkyDoo Grin

DH wanted Five Guys, but I find them MASSIVELY overpriced for what you get. Sadly there weren’t many better options - it was standard shopping mall food court fare, all super carby and lacking in customisability (i.e. bready things, noodle things, KFC, Burger King, pizza etc).

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 11/02/2019 16:59

I guess they thought I'd made a mistake. Bastards.

I went to 5 guys for the first time at the beginning of the year expecting a burger worthy of an Elvis death. I mean, it was fine but not worth the £15 + quid I paid for it (with fries and a drink natch). And peanut oil? Why for the love of god, why?

Iamnotacerealkiller · 11/02/2019 19:32

Great video here from our friend Michael Mosley talking about the effect of sugar etc.

He also cites some very interesting and credible studies into diet. Looks like extra virgin olive oil is shown to reduce the chances of getting breast cancer by 70%!!

Here is the study

Here is the MM video.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 11/02/2019 19:35

Incidentally, anyone know what oil i should be using for cooking at high heat? Olive oil not good but i have heard veg oil isn't great either? what do you think? peanut, rapeseed?

nowlook · 11/02/2019 19:47

@Iamnotacerealkiller

Defo peanut oil...if you can't get hold of some good old lard Smile

nowlook · 11/02/2019 19:48

Basically, the thinner the better for cooking at high temperatures

Iamnotacerealkiller · 11/02/2019 19:51

@nowlook
Oh, what about duck fat!?!?

BrassicaBabe · 11/02/2019 19:58

Right, it's time to get military with BC on my arse! 2-3 weeks of stagnation. I'm probably letting standards slip. I've definitely been having too much wine.

L: 2 egg omelette with cheese and a few slices of pepperoni
D: buttery Savoy cabbage with a soft boiled egg and a desert spoon of mayo
Snacks between the 2 meals: small 15g bag of pork scratching, 2 pre-sliced cheese with a little pate rolled up, a sneaky tea spoon of clotted cream.

Fuck loads of water and NO WINE!! (Ok, it's only 7.50 but I promise you I'm not planning on any wine)

Ok. The snacks aren't brill but surely overall that's not too bad?! Did I mention no wine?!

AandL · 11/02/2019 20:06

Stupid zozosuit, all that hassle and for a horrible picture!!!

1stMrsF · 11/02/2019 20:13

Coconut oil or rapeseed oil good at high temps. Also duck or goose fat.

CognitiveDissonance · 11/02/2019 20:23

Haha @BalloonSlayer, I'll take all the Well Dones I can get!

Much better day for me today following my stumble off the wagon. Despite being unprepared for the week I got off to a decent start. Yoghurt with raspberries for breakfast, Greek salad with prawn cocktail for lunch, chicken wings for dinner. Needed more green veg but have stocked up for tomorrow after a quick stop at Aldi on the way home today.

nowlook · 11/02/2019 20:24

Yes to duck fat... mmm, duck fat Grin

nowlook · 11/02/2019 20:36

@BrassicaBabe

Have you thought about wine though? I believe that thinking about wine has the same impact as necking a bottle in one sitting.

Try thinking about butterflies (0.3g) or ladybirds (0.1g).

SummerSazz · 11/02/2019 20:49

Still stuck at 11.9 but I'm really ok with that given the past few weeks. Have been down to 11.7 and will be again just not currently on a Monday! I'm 1/2 stone down (consistently) from pre Xmas which is brilliant as far as I'm concerned.

Hoping to be a bit stricter for a few weeks now work conferences, overnights, birthday and trips away have finished for a bit.

Lovely to read everyone's losses and for those stalling, just koko - it does work!!!!
