Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - already a month!

Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet

The link should open on the rules rather than just the spreadsheet because I rather think some of you need a reminder!

@Dia12 - you asked about water. Do you not know how much you should be drinking? If you don't know, then that tells me that you haven't read (or remembered) the rules!

Seriously - drinking the water is really important. That's why it's one of the rules.

So we're in week 4 - remember, this one has a reputation (along with its evil twin week 3) for being a week where weight loss is limited or even unlikely. Don't despair if you don't see any loss this week. As long as you're following the rules, you will be fine.

And remember - it's not all about the scales! Take your measurements, or try on something that was too tight a month ago, and you'll get a much more realistic idea about your progress.

I'm away for the next three days, visiting my best friend, so don't really know a) what's going to happen on the food front and b) how often I'll be able to post. I should have wifi on the train, but after that - who knows! I'm travelling first class though, so looking forward to my fried breakfast this morning.

I hope you all have a very good week.

Thank you everyone. It's really come at the worse time because dh is still living at his dads.

Thank you for the suggestion Wildhearts - I will try a sort of semi fredo with whipped cream, yogurt and maybe some raspberries.

1stMrsF · 05/02/2019 14:27

blending frozen berries and greek yoghurt makes a kind of icecream that might work for you too?

Haworthia · 05/02/2019 14:45

Speaking of Greek yoghurt, I have not been able to find the Fage full fat yoghurt anywhere! The 0% and 5% fat versions are everywhere, 2% as well sometimes, but full fat? Nope.

Bungalowbeth · 05/02/2019 15:00

Hope you get well soon Mrs Koala.

Well happy to report a loss of 3lb today which brings me to a total of ten lb lost. I actually go and weigh at a slimming club and started on the 8th so not bad for 4 weeks. I rarely stay for the class as it’s full of people talking about eating chicken with no skin on. Nice enough people though so if I have the time I do, but don’t discuss keto as I’d probably be thrown out! 😂

Sixty more pounds to go! 🙂 I seem to be fitting into a size 18 pair of trousers now which wouldn’t touch me two weeks ago.

Mimosa1 · 05/02/2019 15:34

Feel better @MrsKoala ! Some ice lollies might help as well. You could make your own with some sugar free squash? I think a few deviations whilst you're so ill are not the end of the world as well.

MrsFionaCharming · 05/02/2019 15:49

I’m going to the cinema tonight, keep thinking about pick and mix, then remembering that I can’t! Any good suggestions for cinema snack?

nowlook · 05/02/2019 16:37

@MrsFionaCharming

I went last night and there was absolutely nothing (unless you wanted a rancid hotdog without the bun). Ended up sneaking in some cheese Grin

MrsFionaCharming · 05/02/2019 16:40

Oh, I have no hope of getting anything good at the cinema, planning to go to Sainsbury’s on the way! I just can’t think of a good haribo and popcorn alternative. I’ve already googled and sobbed at the number of carbs in a tango ice blast!

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 05/02/2019 16:51

It's an independant cinema they might have posh pork scratchings? !Mega crunch alert!

1stMrsF · 05/02/2019 16:51

I think the full fat Fage must be discountinued. I have been buying Waitrose 1 greek yoghurt instead, 10% fat but not as high in protein as Fage.

Olives for film snacks?

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 05/02/2019 16:52

What are you going to see?

Haworthia · 05/02/2019 16:54

I think you’re right 1stMrsF. Must have sold badly, which doesn’t surprise me, fat being the enemy and all.

Wondering which brands of Greek yoghurt people have been buying this bootcamp? Any pointers welcome Smile

nowlook · 05/02/2019 17:14

@MrsFionaCharming

Olives
Cheese
Peperami/ similar meats

Sounds a bit grim, I know. Think of it as antipasti.

MrsKoala · 05/02/2019 17:26

I buy the buckets of lidl greek yogurt. But I don't eat much of it so I don't worry too much about getting the absolute lowest carb count.

Can you still have dark chocolate on BC light? I seem to remember it from last time. If so and you want a treat can you have dark choc brazils?

KiteMarked · 05/02/2019 17:31

I shop at Lidl most of the time anyway, so their greek yogurt it is!

I'm taking my teens to a youth club tonight, so I'm feeding everyone a simple meal I know they'll like and I'm planning to bring snacks for myself a bit like MrsFiona.

My plan is cheese, brazil nuts, pepperoni slices, cucumber and peppers. I'm not even close to feeling hungry at the moment, though.

B: water & tea
L: leftover dinner (chicken and cauli) and some extra veg in the form of butter-fried red cabbage and kale.

Enjoy your dinners, everyone. :)

AandL · 05/02/2019 19:10

I had pulled pork from I.P, salad , cheese & coleslaw.
Just had decaf creamy coffee & an eggcup of nuts - my portion controller!
Going upstairs now for a bedroom first......oooohheerrr

Going to iron the duvet cover!! :D

KiteMarked · 05/02/2019 19:37

an eggcup of nuts

I like it! The only way I'd use our eggcups, tbf. I have no interest in attempting a soft-boiled egg. Grin

RhymesWithOrange · 05/02/2019 20:06

Excellent idea re the egg cup.

Rshard · 05/02/2019 20:09

Love the egg cup as a nut portion control!

Liveinthepresent · 05/02/2019 20:17

Evening all - I haven’t posted for ages but am just checking in and catching up with thread.
Great to see lots of KOKO and positivity
I am only on week three and am 3lbs down but I haven’t weighed for over a week as I feel so happy to keep going that I am worried a stall might send me off kilter . Not sure how much sense that makes !
DH has weighed and is 9lbs down so I am optimistic we are being strict enough.
I feel so much better - NSVs - I can bend over without noticing my barrel stomach , work trousers feel looser around the bum area ( it’s huge as am a pear !)
DH is astounded not to be hungry or craving sweet things.
We have even both managed a tiny bit of exercise .
Couldn’t be happier at the moment !

MrsKoala Get well soon

Off to eat low carb shepherds pie with green veg !

AandL · 05/02/2019 20:32

Yep. Have to be careful with those nuts you know :D

Back from the exhausting and emotional rollercoaster of seeing DD off travelling for a few months
After seeing DD and her friend off at 6 am yesterday , we went back to the hotel and I had a spectacular nose bleed ( luckily in the bathroom )
Then met DS , and went out to lunch , which was a bit carb heavy , but was what our nerves needed
Got home and now have a cold sore as well 🤢
Have shopped , and am now set up for the rest of the week

SummerSazz · 05/02/2019 22:06

Bugger, lost a post when trying to attach a delicious chicken korma recipe. I'll try again...

Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - already a month!
SummerSazz · 05/02/2019 22:11

Finally managed it!! Butter, cream and ff yoghurt - it was delicious!! I swapped shallots for onions and went slightly light on the ground almonds. Served on a big bed of spinach.
@MrsKoala Hope your throat feels better soon, it sounds nasty. I always gargle TCP - it's vile but works! I've even managed to convince my children Shock

20k steps and a 1k swim today so hopefully I've now fully reversed friday's twattery....
