Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet

The link should open on the rules rather than just the spreadsheet because I rather think some of you need a reminder!

@Dia12 - you asked about water. Do you not know how much you should be drinking? If you don't know, then that tells me that you haven't read (or remembered) the rules!

Seriously - drinking the water is really important. That's why it's one of the rules.

So we're in week 4 - remember, this one has a reputation (along with its evil twin week 3) for being a week where weight loss is limited or even unlikely. Don't despair if you don't see any loss this week. As long as you're following the rules, you will be fine.

And remember - it's not all about the scales! Take your measurements, or try on something that was too tight a month ago, and you'll get a much more realistic idea about your progress.

I'm away for the next three days, visiting my best friend, so don't really know a) what's going to happen on the food front and b) how often I'll be able to post. I should have wifi on the train, but after that - who knows! I'm travelling first class though, so looking forward to my fried breakfast this morning.

I hope you all have a very good week.

Boden’s twist on the zozosuit. Clearly we are all fashion forward.

Recipe coming later. It really is a bit of off the cuff cooking adaptation so will try to include as many exact measurements as were provided, and be as precise as possible with the stuff I improvise.

MrsKoala well that’s not good. Confused

AandL · 04/02/2019 16:23

Mrs Koala, I diagnose a trip to the doctors!
I'm weighing in tomorrow in the hope the scales fairies visit during the night!

ShagMeRiggins · 04/02/2019 16:30

Meant to say thanks nowlook for the alcohol/carbs info.

JellySlice · 04/02/2019 17:17

In my entirely unscientific opinion, wine in cooking does not count. After all, what's a couple of glasses between 5 people?

Even when I'm low-carbing I always splash a generous glass or two of red wine into meat-and-sauce dishes, whether a quick spag-less bol or a slow slow-cook.

WheelyCote · 04/02/2019 17:22

Placemarking so i can find agaim

ShagMeRiggins · 04/02/2019 17:23

Well, quite, JellySlice.

Livelongandprosper · 04/02/2019 17:40

Lost 1lb which was a surprise, but a good one Smile

latebloomingleo · 04/02/2019 18:51

Ah, a disappointing weigh-in today (up 0.7 lb) but not totally unexpected, after a run of three social evenings. The last in a fantastic Thai place with few LC options...

So, a renewed effort this week with more water and much less wine.

B: avocado and coffee w cream
L: strange experimental kale and lamb soup
D: Fried salmon with courgetti in sesame oil
S: 30g mixed nuts

Good luck everyone!

venusandmars · 04/02/2019 19:46

@shagmeriggins - there was nothing in the article about starchy root veg. I suppose that's one of the main differences between the paleo philosophy and the low carb one, where paleo would say that ancient humans ate mostly plants (including pulses and root veg) with just a little occasional meat, when their hunting was successful. I suppose we all have to find something that suit us and that we can sign up to. For me, on a paleo-type diet, I lost weight but my blood pressure was still pretty high whereas sticking with a low-carb, high fat approach goes a long way towards normalising it. Maybe my ancestors were successful hunters or fishermen who couldn't be bothered digging in the ground Grin

Just saw a Fb ad for a product I'd forgotten about but would be good for BC - a drink with no sugar, no sweeteners Loveau

You can get it in Waitrose and on Amazon. I haven't actually tried it but my sister had some at a picnic last summer when she was driving and said it was really good - not fake tasting. Could be helpful for any one fed up with water?

MrsKoala · 04/02/2019 20:18

Dr google reckons I may have tonsillitis or glandular fever. Fingers crossed it's tonsillitis. I'm sorry everyone but I've had a tsp of manuka honey to sooth my throat and some lozenges. My mum has been here today and I've spent the day in bed so i'm hoping the rest will have me better by tomorrow when I have to get back to school runs in the rain :(

Today
B - 2 poached duck eggs and fried courgettes and leeks in butter
L- creamy and buttery chicken and veg soup
D- a tsp of honey, 2 lozenges and a few sips of water :(

I'm about to gargle some warm salt water

Well done everyone who has lost and hope yu aren't too disappointed if you haven't.

KiteMarked · 04/02/2019 20:25

B - water & tea
L - egg mayo salad (leafy veg & avocado)
S - small hunk of parmesan (too rich tho) and some celery & pb
D - spicy chicken and roasted broccoli & cauli (lots of butter)

Plenty of water throughout the afternoon as well.

I have no desire to eat sweet things; I still marvel at this!

CognitiveDissonance · 04/02/2019 21:10

Me too @KiteMarked ! I think it's my favourite part of the process. Hated being a slave to sugar.

Mimosa1 · 04/02/2019 21:51

Aaargh tricky day today in a catered lunch at a strategy that was only sandwiches and fruit. I did ok-Ish as in I left the bread but the fruit was all v high carb and I did have some plus a couple of crackers as it was a slojgnsay and I es very hungry. Lots of water tomorrow and back on BC. I've not really had enough fat these past few days which I think explains the hunger. Right, I really want to get into the 75kgs so back on it. Koko everyone.

Mandelinka · 04/02/2019 22:21

Week 6 for me and 2.5lbs down ( 5 in total).
The stall lasted exactly 14 days, I’m glad it’s over. Having No alcohol in the last 10 days have been quite easy. A Friend is coming on Friday and we both enjoy glass of red. I told him about my WOE and he is quite understanding. I’m going to serve cheese board with some deli meats and olives. He in return will bring HM Sauerkraut. Yum

I’ve done 6 days in a row variety of JM dvd’s, from shred and ripped to 10 min transformations. I can really see my fitness improving, my stomach is flatter and bum rounder. Only 11 days before holiday, need to keep it up.

Food
B: green tea
L: fried leeks with celery, cheesy scrambled eggs
D: HM broccoli and Stilton. My first effort at this soup, turned out ok, 3 portions left to go
W: 2.5l mainly mint and green teas

Well done everyone and keep KOKO thru the 4th week! Flowers

Littleorangetree · 04/02/2019 22:24

1lb off for me this week, but that will have shot up by tomorrow! Blush

I've had an awful few days with lots of stress and today I just sort of snapped and had a huge binge on lots of rubbishy carby foods Sad. I've been following strict bootcamp since October, and apart from a few days over Christmas, have stuck to it with very few slip ups. I'm not sure what happened - I just had an overhwhelming urge to binge for the first time in months and I just couldn't help myself.

I feel a bit sick now, but I'm trying not to beat myself up over it as it's been such a long time since I've binged like that and I've been doing really well. I just feel a bit shocked at how suddenly it came over me and I was straight back to the bad old days again. I'll be back on the case in the morning and think I'll leave the scales for a few days...!

venusandmars · 04/02/2019 22:24

Posting my food plan for tomorrow, because I know what it is...

I've got a friend coming for her birthday lunch. She suggested her favourite restaurant but I had a look at the menu and there was pretty much nothing I could have, or ask to be altered. So I cooking here, where I can be more in control:
B - Half an avocado
L - Prawn cocktail, with creamy mayo sauce, and a wee bit of salad
Steak with sautéed mushrooms and buttered veg (plus chips and peas for my friend)
Blueberries and blackberries with lots of cream
D - a bit of cheese

tootstastic · 05/02/2019 07:00

@Littleorangetree you have done so well and one blip won't ruin things. I'm a fellow binger and it's hard to explain how quickly the need takes hold when it does, it seems to come from nowhere, doesn't it. I wonder if it's a subconscious self-sabotage kicking in and I know how wretched it makes you feel afterwards. The difference this time is you're not letting it ruin things and you'll be as right as rain in a few days Thanks

AandL · 05/02/2019 07:04

Down 1lb this week, really pleased with that, 5lbs in total since 14/01

Week 4 - Low Carb Bootcamp - already a month!
SummerSazz · 05/02/2019 07:22

I was a total bloody idiot on Friday - snow day and pmt were some excuse but I'm blaming me totally.

Anyway, no move on the scales for Monday (but that was down two from Sat after my idiocy) and am heading back down again but have 3 evenings out this week Hmm. I just need a few weeks of hibernation!

Still, I'm 5lb down overall and am focussing on that to keep motivation from the (self inflicted) blips.

Littleorangetree · 05/02/2019 07:29

Thanks Tootstastic - it's very reassuring when someone knows how you feel in these moments of madness! Flowers

Feeling slightly yuck this morning, but cheerful and happy to get back to 'normal'.

Well done everyoen on your losses this week. KOKO! Star

Mimosa1 · 05/02/2019 07:29

Oh @Littleorangetree don't beat yourself up and keep going. Lots of water and onwards.

I need to refocus as well. I'm frustrated at how long it all takes but really, it's only been 3.5 weeks and if I lose half a kilo a week, I'll be at goal in 6 months so really not that long in the scheme of things!
