Morning all.

Here's the Spreadsheet

The link should open on the rules rather than just the spreadsheet because I rather think some of you need a reminder!

@Dia12 - you asked about water. Do you not know how much you should be drinking? If you don't know, then that tells me that you haven't read (or remembered) the rules!

Seriously - drinking the water is really important. That's why it's one of the rules.

So we're in week 4 - remember, this one has a reputation (along with its evil twin week 3) for being a week where weight loss is limited or even unlikely. Don't despair if you don't see any loss this week. As long as you're following the rules, you will be fine.

And remember - it's not all about the scales! Take your measurements, or try on something that was too tight a month ago, and you'll get a much more realistic idea about your progress.

I'm away for the next three days, visiting my best friend, so don't really know a) what's going to happen on the food front and b) how often I'll be able to post. I should have wifi on the train, but after that - who knows! I'm travelling first class though, so looking forward to my fried breakfast this morning.

I hope you all have a very good week.

Mrs K I’m glad you got antibiotics-I had a similar thing and it was VIRAL. I was despairing. The throat numbing sprays are amazing. I was hugely triggered (!) by the mention of ice cream and wonder if there’s a low carb alternative cos I love the stuff.

I’ve not fallen off the wagon at all but this past week I’ve been eating so much as I’m due on - I don’t want to weigh myself until it’s been and gone

Going for work curry tomor-jaded that I cant have a poppadum. My favourite 😭

venusandmars · 05/02/2019 22:47

@mrskoala I remember having tonsillitis, and after 3 or 4 doses of antibiotics I felt so well that I suddenly realised how ill I had been. Hope it is the same for you.

@MrsFionaCharming probably too late for you but these Tesco cheese/chorizo rollitos and some olives are a great snack

MrsFionaCharming · 05/02/2019 22:51

Thanks for all the suggestions :)

As it was, DP wasn’t in the mood for the cinema which solved the issue.

Dia12 · 05/02/2019 23:14

Oh that chicken korma sounds delicious. Hope you're feeling better soon @MrsKoala.

I've been feeling a little weak with my self control....and although I've been pretty good, I've constantly got food on the mind.
I'm not even hungry, I think it's just all my head.....and probably the kind of time I'd usually fall flat and cave in on a usual diet.

I've tracked my food and still eating the right proportions - a few more sneaky carbs from fruit than normal (30g).

Going to try IF tomorrow to stop myself from sabotaging my hard work so far.

BIWI · 05/02/2019 23:40

@Haworthia

B - coffee with almond milk
L - chicken mini fillets with tikka marinade (around 2.5-3g carbs per 100g), asparagus, butter
S - few ham and cheese slices, 10g of 70% chocolate with some double cream
D - leftover roast lamb curry (made with lazy jar sauce, 5.2g carbs per 100g)
I did also have three glasses of wine on Sunday - say it isn’t that^

Where is your veg?

All your carbs - apart from the asparagus - is coming from other stuff. And three glasses of wine will be a lot of carbs, in combination with all the other carbs. And 'a few ham and cheese slices' is a lot of extra food/calories - you shouldn't need to snack if you're eating properly.

And I suspect, if you're eating so much processed food, that you won't be getting enough fat either.

You also didn't say how much water you're drinking. That's really important too.

I’m up another 1.6lbs overnight. I’ve been gaining and losing the same couple of pounds for nearly two weeks. So annoying!

What do you expect if you're not following the rules properly? Confused

OP posts:
BIWI · 05/02/2019 23:43

And this:

Two litres of water is a battle I’m losing daily too. It’s ok when I’m at home, but when I’m out I don’t bother taking my water with me because I know I won’t drink it, because I don’t want to have to find a public toilet

Well of course it's not going to work for you! The rules are there for a reason.

@MrsKoala

Thank you everyone. It's really come at the worse time because dh is still living at his dads

Actually, this should probably be a wake up call for your DH to step up and think about you for a change

Please don't tell me that you're still going ahead cooking a dinner party when you're so ill? Why is your DH not doing more?

@Bungalowbeth Brilliant! Really well done. Just ignore all that talk about chicken without skin Grin Star

@MrsFionaCharming

Why do you have to have a snack? Why do we associate going to the cinema with having to have something to eat? It's simply not necessary.

BIWI · 05/02/2019 23:51

@Doilooklikeatourist

Then met DS , and went out to lunch , which was a bit carb heavy , but was what our nerves needed

No! Your nerves didn't need this at all! Why are you making such an excuse? That's self-sabotage.

I'm letting the meat content of my meals creep up so am going to make a effort to add in easy veg wherever I can - frozen spinach cubes for the win!!

B - proscuttio & cream cheese parcels. Coffee w almond milk
L - beef and spinach chili topped with avocado, cheese & jalapeños
D - chicken thigh, broccoli & zucchini stir fry

Have discovered Japanese soy sauce (just Aldi brand) is super low in carbs in comparison to others. Still measure it out (using a shot glass ☺️) carefully but makes a great low fuss marinade when mixed with minced garlic/ginger/chili.

MrsTerryPratcett · 06/02/2019 02:45

My Zozo suit just arrived. If that woman tells me she can't see my leg dots, or my phone is in the wrong position one more time, so help me...

I'm finding that cooking a huge load of kale or spinach so there's always some in the fridge helps with veg. Fruits easy in comparison.

Thanks for MrsK.

Rshard · 06/02/2019 07:42

So I’ve been the exact same weight for the last three mornings, due a whoosh?

m0therofdragons · 06/02/2019 08:06

Another 1lb down (clearly this will stall at some point and I'll have a strop!).

Breakfast - Parma ham
Lunch - broccoli and spinach soup from yesterday
Dinner - salmon cooked in butter, asparagus and other veg

Condamine · 06/02/2019 08:07

I have a question, I'm sorry if it's already been explained and I missed it, but when we check the carb content are we reading the total carbs to be under 3g/100g or those which sugars?
I met someone yesterday, "low carb expert" according to her, eating Twiglets.

I have been reading the total carb content so wouldn't have touched them but she eats them all the time!

nowlook · 06/02/2019 08:20

@Condamine

I asked that question (not in the context of Twiglets Envy

BrassicaBabe · 06/02/2019 08:25

Morning all!

Does anyone have a favourite LC soup they can share with me? My previous go to soup was roasted red pepper and tomato which is a tad too high. Also no fat Smile

Condamine · 06/02/2019 08:38

@nowlook

Thanks, I felt it was, but she was so convincing!

Condamine · 06/02/2019 08:42

@BrassicaBabe

How about broccoli and cheese, with cream?

Doilooklikeatourist · 06/02/2019 08:56

Yes @BIWI know ( hangs head )
However , lunch at about 2-30 , was roast cauli with tahini ( OMG ! delicious ) charred chicken leg with peppers , a G & T and an americano coffee , so not that bad
We weren’t hungry in the evening , so had a glass of wine and loads of water
Back on it now , had buttery and delicious scrambled eggs to start the day , and the water is going down 💧

Mandelinka · 06/02/2019 09:22

Morning all!
I haven’t been feeling hungry, but still trying to eat 2 healthy protein and far rich meals a day. Breakfast is green tea and have been for months now.
Did a sneak weigh in this morning and dropped another 2lbs Hmm. It’s week 5/6 for me and after the complete stall in weeks 3 and 4, I’ve lost 4 ponds. Very happy.
I’ve been alcohol free for 3 weeks and doing excercise most days.

There has been some unexpected illness in the family and DH had to jet off to be there and I’ve been worrying as well, hence the reduced appetite. At least eating well keeps me going.

Haworthia · 06/02/2019 10:14

Whoa @BIWI, I thought you said last week you were going to berate people a little less harshly. Christ Grin

Bootcamp has to fit around life, yes? So I was posting about struggling to fit in drinking lots of water whilst also wanting to avoid frequent toilet trips when out and about. I hoped people would sympathise. The only place with toilets on my entire high street is a Waitrose, and there are only two cubicles, and one of those is usually out of order Wink

I take your point about not getting enough veg on Monday, and snacks not being mandatory/ham being processed (actually, that day I was running on five hours sleep after being up with a three year old with such bad croup I was considering A&E. I was so tired by 4pm it was a toss up between ham & cheese or vast quantities of sugar. I think I made the better choice).

Anyway - genuine question here. If the majority of carbs come from vegetables, and one day we don’t eat quite enough vegetables (for example, Monday I had curry without any accompanying veg - I just CBA because it was gone 9pm and I’d just got back from a Pilates class), why is that a problem/why does that stall weight loss? Because, to my mind, that just means we take in even fewer carbs that originally planned that day. How is that a problem?

I mean, it’s not the healthiest way to eat, or course. But in terms of pure carb counting, it doesn’t seem like the worst sin I could possibly commit.

Dia12 · 06/02/2019 10:47

I can only imagine the lack of carbs from veg to be a bad thing because you're perhaps missing out on vital nutrients and minerals? But I guess one day without veg isn't something to lose sleep over!

bluelefant · 06/02/2019 11:14

@Haworthia I think veg is making your meal more balanced and therefore you are less likely to snack and more in control of how much you actually eat overall.
