I love this week - when we find out how much people have lost, and all those of you who haven't really believed it will work are proved wrong!

Here's the spreadsheet

I hope that the scales have been kind to you, or that your measurements have gone down and your clothes are feeling looser!

I look forward to hearing about everyone's progress.

Here's to a great week 2 as well

@BIWI yes I suppose it does and that varies massively depending what I'm doing that day, but one good thing is that I'm very rarely hungry between meals. I do think my portions are probably on the large side though.

Rshard · 26/01/2019 18:14

Just saying hi to everyone . We’ve been out shopping this afternoon and dd and dh fancied a burrito, resigned myself to having nothing but they do naked burritos - was lush! No rice or beans, I had extra salad leaves.

Lots of chat about dairy, one day this week I ended up having loads of dairy, yoghurt especially and had a gain the next morning. Have never had an issue with it before but think I might need to be careful, the close to my goal I get.

Hope those that are celebrating Burns night, have lovely evenings.

Checking in for the weekend 👋

I bought a rather slinky, stretchy dress in a charity shop today. It was a risk, because I am very pear shaped (all my excess weight is on my arse/thighs/saddlebags) so I was worried I’d look like an overstuffed sausage in it.

Tried it on at home with the aid of Spanx and... it looks really nice! I’m still very generous of rear (I wish my boobs could balance it out, but they can’t Grin) but I felt good.

It’s little things like that that keep my willpower going. I’ll have to keep it up tomorrow when we take the kids to McDonalds tomorrow. There are no other takeaway options nearby... I checked. I’m thinking a shaker salad (but not the supplied balsamic dressing) with a bun-less double cheeseburger or two.

MrsKoala · 26/01/2019 18:24

I don't think my meals are big really. I still feel hungry between them. Vegetables and salad are just water the only things which fill me up are meat and cheese really.

I think I need to do more exercise. I absolutely cannot eat less and not feel horribly hungry and pissed off.

tootstastic · 26/01/2019 18:36

@MrsKoala it must be awful being hungry between meals and make it harder to keep your resolve. The only thing I can suggest is upping the fat. I polished off the fat from 3 sirloin steaks last night (my own steak plus fat and then the fat off DH's and DD's) Blush

BIWI · 26/01/2019 18:44

I concur with @tootstastic - sounds like you need to up the fat. And also, you probably just need to give it a bit more time! We're only on week 2, so it could just be your body re-adjusting to low carb.

How much of your hunger, though, do you think might be psychological or emotional?

Are you really hungry?

Look - on the one hand you're unhappy about the amount of weight you've lost, but on the other you sound like you don't want to make any changes. You can't have it both ways!!!

Checking in for the day. I find it much easier to stick to this woe during the week where I've got structure at work and not singlehandedly wrangling two opinionated little people but managed to survive a kids bday party today and low carbEd for all of it though I'm
Conscious not a green thing has passed my lips yet and I've had very little water.
Better tomorrow!

MrsKoala · 26/01/2019 19:11

Thanks for your advice. I'll cut the dairy and up the fat. But i'm not prepared to be hungry - I hate feeling hungry. I don't mind peckish and ready for my meal. But I get really ratty and dizzy when i'm hungry. I don't think it's emotional hunger as I tend to not feel hunger when I get upset/stressed. I'm an emotional drinker tho, which is why i'm really surprised I've managed not to drink for 2 weeks - the longest period I've gone without wine since pregnancy. So i'm pleased with that and i'm not even craving wine at all.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to eat in the day now for breakfast and lunches.

I've got half a leg of lamb for dinner tomorrow and was going to try the celeriac dauphinoise but not sure what to do with it now.

BIWI · 26/01/2019 19:14

How about, when we start next week, trying some intermittent fasting? Which means missing breakfast on a few days? Honestly, if you're fat-adapted, and you're eating enough fat/drinking enough water, you really shouldn't be experiencing hunger as you describe.

I know - I remember being so full last time. I think exercise really helped suppress my appetite.

Also I have other body shit going on which may be affecting it all I suppose. I don't know if i'm starting the menopause as I've been bleeding and cramping on and off for 4 months and have been constantly now since 23rd December (not loads, but enough). I've had periods in between but it just slows to a trickle rather than stops. So maybe my hormones are all over the place.

MrsKoala · 26/01/2019 19:23

Sorry - that is far too much gross information!

Evening everyone. I have only whizzed through the thread as I haven’t time to catch up since I last posted but it’s great to hear of everyone’s experiences - especially good to know that people are posting their struggles and still KOKO with all the support.

Day 6 for me today - I think it’s going better than I hoped .
I have finally got DH on board again so that’s much easier.

Loving what I am eating - last night DH cooked steak with giant flat mushrooms and celeriac chips- it was amazingly good !
Tonight we are roasting a large chicken with lots of veg .
There is a chance my portions are too big but I feel like I am ready for this change and in it for the long haul this time.
DH may need surgery this year which means he will certainly be encouraged to lose weight so I think we have a strong motivation.
For me it should be about health but I am vain sort who just wants to fit back into more of the lovely clothes I own !

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 26/01/2019 19:37

MrsKoala have you had that checked out? Even if you are leading up to the menopause you shouldn't be bleeding all the time.

How tall are you?

Can you eat boiled eggs for breakfast with asparagus tips? Or poached eggs and avocado?

SlinkyDinkyDoo · 26/01/2019 19:40

Day 13 - that sounds much more of an achievement than two weeks!

B: Greek yoghurt
L: salad, mayo, ham, turkey and cheese
D: salmon, cauliflower, green beans, courgette and a creamy mushroom and parsley sauce.

MrsKoala · 26/01/2019 19:44

I tried Slinky but when I went to the dr 2 weeks ago DD screamed so horrendously they couldn't examine me. I need to make another appointment when am not with her. I had a smear not too long ago which was all fine. But I had a coil put in in October and I suspect it may be that. Or the menopause. (my sister had hers at 39 and my aunt and Nan at 40 - so it's very possible). I've only had priods back for about 6 months as I'd been breastfeeding DD as if she was a bloody newborn for 18 months!

I'm sure it's fine. I had sort of forgotten all about itas things have been so manic here.

Methemummy · 26/01/2019 19:54

Hi all, interesting to read all the posts about being hungry. I have been keeping a food diary and have found every 3 days or so I have a day where i am starving and could eat anything & everything then the next day i have a good weight loss - also correlates with a day of not drinking enough. So think i am mistaking hunger with needing to drink more.

Lovely dinner cooked my DP today tacos made with little gem lettuce instead of taco shells with home made salsa & cheese. It was amazing!

As a daily weigh-er i have lost about a 1.5lb this week. Looking forward to official weigh in on Monday.

Doilooklikeatourist · 26/01/2019 20:37

Today’s been a bit of a write off food wise ,
On a positive note , I’m still alcohol free and I’ve had loads of water
Tomorrow is another day 👍

MrsKoala · 26/01/2019 20:48

Right I've kicked myself up the bum and am planning to still do my celeriac tomo. But will start dairy free on Monday.

I know it sounds like a daft question but if i'm dairy free can I no longer use butter?

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 26/01/2019 20:49

@BIWI yes I'm rubbish, I've never been bothered about drinking during the week but just find it do hard on a weekend.
No breakfast as I just was so busy....i was cleaning and sorting the kids out, then by the time I looked at the clock it was 12.. I'll call it brunch if it helps.. Blush
I'll definitely try more salt.

LostaraYil · 26/01/2019 20:49

B- scrambled eggs and bacon
L- cheese and chorizo wraps
D-saag paneer and chicken curry
My skin looked shit today after drinking wine yesterday, so that's another reason to stay off the booze. I also feel a serious bout of depression coming on, probably just because it's January and still week to go till half term, but I know low carb helps with my mood so will try to stick to it. I have to be out a lot tomorrow at DS's rugby match, which will help though I am dreading it now.

Mandelinka · 26/01/2019 21:15

Checking in.
B/L: roasted pepper with cheesy scrambled eggs, salad. Slice of smoked salmon
D: cauli/broccoli mash with cheese, butter and creme fresh. Fish balls. Square of dark chocolate
W: 2-3 l, 2/3 of it was green tea.

Can’t drink tap water at the mo as my teeth are sooo sensitive. Just started with a toothpaste for sensitive teeth and hoping for some relief. I’ve been doing oil pulling on/off for 2 months and that seems to help somehow.

E: 40 mins of JM 10 mins body trans. I hated it early on but I’m starting to enjoy it. Even the kickboxing session. Favourites are Pilates and the booty one.

cad186 · 26/01/2019 21:19

Hi everyone, I have seen people mention the babybel in the microwave trick but can't find the details? Thanks!

m0therofdragons · 26/01/2019 21:56

Really using willpower tonight. Not hungry but could happily eat tiger loaf bread with butter... entire loaf! No idea what's behind this.

BrassicaBabe · 26/01/2019 23:32

Hi All.

I think today I deserve a BC crown on something. Halo A family "thing" involved a visit to a fish and chip restaurant. The only LC option was chicken breast. My order was lost in translation and the chicken (as dry as F!) arrived with chips. I didn't eat any! Even though the little blighters were staring up at me. Impressive eh?Grin

Joining the dairy debate, I find cream and yoghurt cause me to stall or put weight on. But cheese doesn't have the same effect I love the LC cauliflower cheese with double cream but only have it as a rare treat because it spells disaster
