I love this week - when we find out how much people have lost, and all those of you who haven't really believed it will work are proved wrong!

Here's the spreadsheet

I hope that the scales have been kind to you, or that your measurements have gone down and your clothes are feeling looser!

I look forward to hearing about everyone's progress.

Here's to a great week 2 as well

My finger started bleeding again this morning so I'm planning to milk that for all it's worth with my family - maybe get a day off the housework! Grin BIWI I cut it on the slicing blade for the food processor. It's not too bad really, just in an awkward spot on my finger. On the plus side all my kids have had a lesson in first aid.

Rshard · 24/01/2019 11:58

As well as cutting my finger in two places, I’d also broken it in two places @stuntnun. So there might be other injuries as well as the cut?

WhatThreeWords · 24/01/2019 12:11

Morning! horrid dreams last night :-(

This morning, greek yog, cucumber and avocado
At a lunch just now - goats cheese and endive to start. Have asked them to take of the truffled mash potato in next course and give me extra artichoke and 'black cabbage' next to my beef fillet. Hope that meets with approval

So want to get into Couch25k again it sounds brill

@venusandmars enjoy!

knowhow · 24/01/2019 12:14

sorry - I haven't posted on here before but I am trying my hand at low carb / high fat diet and I wondered if anyone had any idea whether Slimatea (a tea with senocot in it) would be detrimental to the high fat diet - as in, will it stop the essential absorption of fats into the system?

Thank you in advance for any thoughts!

StuntNun · 24/01/2019 12:15

I remember that Rshard did it heal up okay in the end?

nowlook · 24/01/2019 12:24

Afternoon all! I'm back from my work adventures and am sorry to report that I didn't fare very well, but not through lack of trying.

Yesterday, I ate three pieces of cheese, two slices of ham and a fillet steak. Not enough water...but no alcohol and I took my unsweetened almond milk for tea.

Couldn't be helped: traffic was a nightmare so could only eat easy things or would've been late for meeting. Sandwiches and crisps were served at lunch and I'd have felt a proper idiot getting out my smelly tuna pot in an already-stuffy portacabin, so made an excuse to nip to the car and had more cheese and ham. Dinner at the hotel was fine, but the seasonal veg was carrots and parsnips, so gave it a wide berth.

Back on it today though! Please don't get out the stick @BIWI.

WhatTheFronti · 24/01/2019 12:32

Dropping in to keep myself on track

B - coffee, proscuttio & cream cheese parcels
L - chicken, avo, mixed lettuce salad mayo
D - bacon, haloumi, avo, lettuce salad with chili oil/lemon dressing

Lots of water 4 + litres.

Confession 🙈 - hid in pantry and demolished a small bar of 85% chocolate (had pre emptied moments of weakness). Mothering was a bit much for me today - not my best day....could have easily fallen into a vat of wine but took the 5g carb chocolate option instead....
Tomorrow is a new day and all that.....😬

WhatTheFronti · 24/01/2019 12:34

gah!!! *Preempted not pre emptied

Darkbaptism · 24/01/2019 13:24

I remember last week someone mentioned that their resting heart rate had dropped since starting low carb. Checked mine and it really has dropped! Does eating less sugar put less stress on the body?

Checking in. Daily weigh-er here and another 2.8lbs off since Monday has both achieved my first half a stone loss and put me under 90kg - the next of my milestones. I'm feeling like my clothes are loser suddenly today - especially my bra. It's weird!

B - Boiled egg and avocado with mayonnaise
L - beef bolognaise sauce on a bed of salad leaves
D - Beef stew. My mother's cooking and I've requested buttered cabbage to go with it. It's not something I would have chosen to eat myself as I feel it needs a crusty roll to mop up the gravy so some resolve is needed!

Last night thought dinner looked a bit meagre, but was completely satisfied afterwards. Asked for a bigger serving of bolgonaise at lunch today but realised afterwards that what I had to start with would have been fine. Need to adjust my ideas of what is a sensible portion...

1Wildheartsease · 24/01/2019 13:31

Staying on track for my week 3 though could up the water and the veg.

This long weekend is a romantic break (well as romantic as my very practical DP will allow) and then a visit to old friends of DP. The country is foreign and it will be fun... but I won't be in control in the kitchens :(

I intend to make the best choices out of those available and to stay as close to plan as possible. I like this way of living and am not tempted to stray but can see it might be necessary to be polite.

Mandelinka · 24/01/2019 14:24

@BIWI string beans, together with purple and green broccoli, topped up with chicken curry.
Tea for breakfast only as it’s my week 4 and I just feel better and clear headed having only nice big mug ( usually 2 ) in the morning.
I’ve never been a big eater and when I compare my portions to my colleagues, I eat about half of what is everyone is having
Confused

Hermie12 · 24/01/2019 14:26

Darkbaptism my resting heart rate has also dropped. Although shot up again the past couple of days as I have the winter lurgy. I'd put it down to being more active but I guess diet could also be a factor.

b. today greek yoghurt, teaspoon flaxseeds
l. Chicken and vegetable soup
d. will probably be small portion cauliflower cheese (home made of course)

Rshard · 24/01/2019 14:28

It has all healed @stuntnun but the finger isn’t very bendy and has no feeling but it’s still there!

Fantastic @1stmrsf!!

We all have those moments @whatthefronit! At least you managed to restrain the lapse.

Could you let your hosts know that you’re following this woe @1wildheartsease?

AandL · 24/01/2019 14:30

Afternoon ladies, was horrified this morning to be up 2.6lbs on Tues morning, wtaf?? I skipped scales yesterday as id been out on tues night but I fully expected to be back to 'normal' this morning after a good day yesterday..

Anyway!
B bacon & halloumi salad
L leftover pulled pork salad bowl with a roast chicken thigh
D bloegnase with zoodles, will add cream & serve with cheese.

Take care and koko ladies

BrassicaBabe · 24/01/2019 14:57

Thank you for your kind words last night ladies. Sorry for my self indulgent whinging. I got made redundant last year and re-employment hasn't been following the path I expected. Not working is beginning to get me down which I turn seems to affect many other aspects of life. Anyway, KOKO and all that Smile

So today...
B: cheese and chorizo slices
L: 2 babybel, a bratwurst and garlic mayo
D: planned for lamb chops with much veg, likely to be leeks and mushrooms

E: 2 x fast 1km (fasted by the time I got to it)

x

BIWI · 24/01/2019 15:20

@knowhow Welcome! Glad that you've joined us.

I have to ask you though, why are you using tea with a laxative effect? That's really not a good idea, and you'll lose weight just as effectively with a proper diet

BIWI · 24/01/2019 15:26

@nowlook doesn't look like there's any need for the Big Stick! Sounds like you did a great job (unless you're telling me that you ate the sandwiches as well? Wink)

@WhatTheFronti I suppose it could have been worse - but you need to ask yourself why you felt the need to use food/chocolate for that moment. Emotional eating is a curse, it's definitely fair to say - but if you can't knock it on the head, it will sabotage you

@Darkbaptism it looks like it, doesn't it?! That's really positive though, seeing your heart rate drop by so much

@1Wildheartsease yes that's a real dilemma. I have one of those on Monday. We've been invited to dinner at friends of friends, so not close enough for me to take the initiative and ask if they can cater for me. I'm hoping they might get in touch and ask if there's anything we don't eat, in which case I can be a bit more specific about carbs, but if not, will just have to go with the flow

Another ridiculous morning. Started work at 8am so had a coffee before commute and took breakfast with me. Got pulled into a meeting as I walked in the door and then had a photo shoot (I work in PR - I'm not a model!) so couldn't eat during that. Am eating breakfast now which is ridiculous! Work should be calmer tomorrow but I'll have to have breakfast at home in future. On the plus side I haven't come in and binged!

CassieStuart · 24/01/2019 17:04

Been so busy with work last few days no chance to check in. Hope it's going well for everyone.

Yesterday I had a client dinner in an Indian. I did the best I could - two side salads and dried lamb but no way to know what was in coating and defo not enough fat with the dinner.

Today I've had two boiled eggs mashed with Boursin, pork belly with greens. Three coffee with cream. Really not hungry at all and thought of making dinner just seems a faff. Will eat something though.

Is it possible to be getting carb flu at this point? I've a sore throat and feel tired. Not sure if it's carb related or the bug going round?

venusandmars · 24/01/2019 17:13

@m0therofdragons well done! So many would have just grabbed the nearest croissant and wolfed it down. Hopefully you managed to grab some water... I often take something like this with me, or they do something similar in M&S with cheese wrapped in ham.

Haworthia · 24/01/2019 18:29

DH is out tonight and we don’t have much food in the house. As a reward for getting both kids to bed single handed (no mean feat, let me tell you) I’m thinking of having a takeaway Hmm

I’m thinking Turkish - grilled halloumi, maybe garlic mushrooms, and a kebab (but no bread or their delicious rice). Sound OK?

WheelyCote · 24/01/2019 18:32

Just catching up with the threads, not had chance to post.

Hope everyone's doing well!!!

wasabiaddiction · 24/01/2019 18:48

I started about 10 days before BC and lost loads on the first couple of weeks. But have now stalled.

I know this is normal from reading BIWI upthread but it is disheartening. I am now 232 lbs so I have loads to loose.

Am following the rules and not cheating. But not getting as much water as I should - does it really make that much difference to the rate of weight loss?

Cheeseandapple · 24/01/2019 18:52

Sounds like everyone is on track today. Well done for KOKO!

B scrambled eggs and halloumi. It was way too rich and I couldn't finish it.
L caprese salad
S will be courgette frittatas with guacamole and poached eggs.
