General Bootcamp Chat

Morning all

Here's a brand new thread, for general Bootcamp chat - it could be about low carbing, or about anything else you want to chat about.

It's Christmas Eve, and I'm wearing my Christmas pyjamas, and about to head into the kitchen for the last bits of prep I'm planning on doing. We're waiting for my BIL to arrive, and then rather than cook we're going out for lunch. Tonight will be buffet/party food, as both my DC are at work and won't be here till late.

I have a few more gifts to wrap - I discovered a bag of things I'd bought very early and had hidden, which I'd then forgotten all about! But apart from that, it's pretty much all done.

Tomorrow's menu is a simple one - we don't have turkey, but we're having roast fillet of beef. I've already made some red wine gravy, and just need to do the veg - which will be asparagus, peas and onions and (a definite non-Bootcamp treat!) potatoes dauphinoise.

So that's it from me. I hope all of you have a happy and relaxing Christmas and that [santa] brings you everything you want Xmas Smile

By the way, the sign-up thread for the next Bootcamp is here

Thanks @BIWI I've just signed up. I know what you mean about getting bored of cooking the same things. Me too, so going to have a trawl through the many Low-Carb cookbooks I've bought and hardly opened over the years for some inspiration.

Weight still stalled, which is getting more frustrating by the day, but I'm KOKO with faith that it must sort itself out soon. I'm definitely feeling a bit slimmer and more clothes are fitting. Really wish I'd measured at the beginning now.

Doilooklikeatourist · 02/01/2019 09:04

I’ve signed up too
Round 2 😀

Feelingfortyisntfun · 02/01/2019 09:07

Happy new year all. Can I check we are officially starting on the 14th? X

Laska2Meryls · 02/01/2019 09:12

I'm easing back in also just focusing on eating a bit lighter, more on veg but also low carbs for the rest of this week. I feel I need it after the last few weeks ..

Laska2Meryls · 02/01/2019 09:14

I'll probably have some wine this weekend but then I'm stopping

Fairnair · 02/01/2019 09:33

Happy New Year

Thanks to BIWI - just signed up.

Did sign up for the pre-Christmas boot camp but failed before I started. This week husband is off work, so will probably be going out for a couple of meals. Will start next Monday 7th Jan to reduc carb intake so official Bootcamp on Monday 14th will be less of a shock.

Good luck to everyone.

BIWI · 02/01/2019 09:38

@Feelingfortyisntfun. Yes, definitely starting on 14 Jan!

I’ve signed up but can’t copy and paste the list on my phone - it really annoys me that it isn’t possible.

I’m getting back into it gently after the Chtistmas excess. Picking at things when I wasn’t hungry was a downfall!

BIWI · 02/01/2019 10:10

I've added you @boldlygoingsomewhere!

What phone do you have? If it's an iPhone you can copy and paste

OP posts:
boldlygoingsomewhere · 02/01/2019 10:13

Thanks, BIWI! I have an iPhone but I’ve never been able to copy and paste on MN. If you know how to do it, you might just revolutionise my life. Smile

prettybird · 02/01/2019 10:22

It's not always easy on the iPhone (I have a very old one Blush), but if you just press on a word (so that the copy or define thing comes up) and hold, then "stretch" one of the dots to include the section you want to copy and then choose copy, it will out it into the phone's clipboard. You then go to the new post where you want to paste and press again and the paste option will come up.

It can be a bit hit and miss through - especially the "stretching to select" process Confused

BIWI · 02/01/2019 11:23

Copied from the other thread:

For all those of you saying you're on your phone and can't copy, if you have an iPhone you absolutely can!

Place your finger at the start of the list and hold down, then you'll get a little blue box pop up, with a black bar that says 'copy. look up. share'

The blue box has two dots at the top left and bottom right hand corner. You drag the bottom one to the end of the list, and then click on 'copy'.

Then hit reply, to post the list again, and in the message box, again press your finger down, and the black box that pops up will say 'paste'. Click on that, and hey presto!

Thank you, prettybird and BIWI! It’s the holding down I hadn’t tried. Anywhere else, I can just ‘click’ and it gives me the copy/select option.

This will save me loads of time. Grin

Signed up officially on t'other thread but started today. Fridge, freezer and cupboard are cleared of all carby things (off to the food bank bit later for those) and I've started with prawns with sour cream + garlic salt stonkingly indulgent for breakfast but as I'm still off of work Grin. Almost a litre of water down but headache has started. Think it's the sugar withdrawal at this stage as there's been far, far too much sugar in my life recently.

Rshard · 02/01/2019 13:44

Also signed up in the other board, thanks @BIWI.

I’ve started over as of today, 5lbs more than the end of last bootcamp but hey ho. I should manage to shift those between now and 14
January.

Starting a degree next week but determined not to use that as an excuse to be rubbish this time.

BrassicaBabe · 02/01/2019 14:04

I'm doing RED January too.

Back on the wagon for me yesterday. Mostly BC rules for me with the exception of alcohol GrinWill consider joining the next BC. It's bound to be a crazy busy one!

I find myself thinking about my alcohol intake. But I'm yet to decide what direction I want to take. Eg stay the same and don't sweat it, moderate, have days off or quit totally. Hmm Sometimes I think that I've generally "fixed" my diet and exercise so my drinking can be left alone!! Grin

BIWI · 02/01/2019 14:33

The thing is, though, @BrassicaBabe, that while you're drinking alcohol, that's what your body will use for fuel - it's the easiest form of fuel to use. So that means you won't be burning any fat.

BrassicaBabe · 02/01/2019 14:37

You are, of course, very correct BIWI. I was at maintenance Hmm Maybe I should quit until I get back there. From Monday? GrinGrin

I’ve just signed up! Started yesterday with reducing sugar and carbs to start off with.

Laska2Meryls · 03/01/2019 08:42

Yesterday was fine until I found the remains of the NYE fish pie in the fridge,... but there was no Wine left open to 'finish up'..and I think all the tempting things are done!. we only have cold meats and cheese left of christmas goodies ( and unopened packets of crisps but i can happily not eat those ) . Christmas cake DH will eat , again, I'm not bothered about it ,.

Nyon · 03/01/2019 09:02

Have just weighed in (was too scared to do it yesterday) and apparently have only put on 9lbs since the May boot camp. I feel much fatter tho then ‘just’ 9lbs. Hmmmm.

Doilooklikeatourist · 03/01/2019 12:50

2 of my 5 Christmas lb off so far 😀

Laska2Meryls · 03/01/2019 18:56

ooh there was smoked salmon in the fridge.. so that with scrambled eggs for dinner I want a Wine though
