Morning all

Remember that this week (along with last week) is infamous for seeing little or no weight loss!

Don't change what you're doing, just keep on keeping on and things will start moving again soon.

Here's the spreadsheet

Hope you all have a good week

@stuntnun what is this witchcraft... Clotted cream in the instant pot?!

Report
Iamnotacerealkiller · 09/11/2018 19:08

any ideas for combinations with clotted cream? What would you add?
Wondering if i can make an almond biscuit for some crunch or something.

My crispy duck salad became a crispy duck with stirfried greens, broccoli, bok choi, spring onions and sliced pepper. in garlic soy. lovely. would have had the whole half duck but my OH rose from the dead (mild cold) in time to miss putting the baby to bed but in time to have his portion :(

Bastard Ex DP bought me a spiralizer today so I'm looking forward to using that instead of using the potato peeler - I will think of him with every courgette I shred Wink Grin

Like pretty bird I treat myself with a teaspoon of clotted cream which makes me feel like I am not missing out. I was brought up on homemade clotted cream, growing up on a farm with Channel Island cows.

Just watched the first episode of Masterchef the professionals and they were pan frying cauliflower steaks with herbs in butter and then baking them. It looked delicious, will have to try that.

Had another good day, skipped lunch for the third time this week, just because I've been busy and not hungry. Sometimes a big breakfast at about 9.30 is enough until an early dinner about 5ish. On these days I seem to have inadvertently managed 16:8 (all meals between 9 and 5). Other days I seem hungrier and def need lunch.

What is a totally new experience for me is only eating when I'm hungry as my cravings have practically disappeared. I'm snacking very little and just feel more satisfied and for longer after a meal. I've slowly moved away from eating for the sake of eating. Despite trying low carbing before, I don't think my fat intake was high enough then and I didn't have this thread for support. I also ate lots of things like cashews then, which I wouldn't now because of all the great info on the spreadsheets.

Brunch and dinner for me, no snacks, not hungry - what I love about this woe. I had home made pizza tonight, a rare treat but so good. Not even a teeny bit tempted by dh's dial a pizza. Made the base from almond flour, egg, butter, flax, mozzarella and the fibre stuff - some sort of husk - whose name escapes me! Very filling and completely delicious.

@oldbirdy that looks yummy, I'll have to research the low carb pizza crust. In the meantime I've been making mini pizzas using huge flat mushroom heads as bases, they don't go crispy but they taste good (assuming you like mushrooms!)

Pizza looks great @oldbirdy!

I've tried the keto pizza from the diet doctor's website. The base is just eggs and grated mozzarella mixed and baked first, then cool and add toppings and bake again. It was really easy and tasted really good.

Phyllum husk! i love it. makes great wraps too. its basically all fibre and it gels up any liquid s0 you can use it to replace gluten.

just weighed myself and ive lost 2 and a half lb in 24hours. whats going on???

Great news cereal I think that's a woosh! I bet your even more pleased that you didn't give up now! The weight fluctuations can be difficult with daily weighing, but if you stick with this woe it will keep going down overall!

I'm a big fan of the fathead pizza, yum!

Been having a good week, weight is going down, just need to stick to it this weekend. Baked a cake yesterday and didn't lick the bowl, just need to ice it today without eating half the icing and avoid the kids party food tomorrow!

I've done a 24hr fast this week, I usually miss breakfast, but wasn't hungry come lunchtime and didn't fancy any of the food we had, so just didn't have any and was fine until dinner. I do find it strange how little I think about food now, I'm like those people that just see food as energy and stop eating when they are full!

Also just seen that skinny lager is low carb, 0.9g per 100ml, 3g for the whole bottle. Beer is usually about 9g to 13g for a bottle. I wouldn't go crazy as the carbs can add up quickly, but I think 1 bottle would be ok if anyone is missing beer. Obviously still have to be mindful of the impact alcohol has on weight loss even if it is low carb!

@Iamnotacerealkiller congrats on the whoosh, I love it when that happens.

Fantastic whoosh Cereal! I bought some Michelob Ultra at Sainsburies which is 0.6g per 100ml Starsky - it was disappointing, more like shandy tbh (would rather have a glass of prosecco Blush)

I forgot to post up my weight for this week probably because I was in denial Wink as I was up 3/4lb from last week Shock despite resisting all temptation while I was up in Aberdeen

And then this week my weight only seemed to social let upwards Confused but I KOKOed Smile

....and this morning I seem to have been rewarded with a whoosh Smile Hopefully it will hold until Monday - especially as I am doing a 24 hours fast today (away to Murrayfield with my Dad so easy to resist all/won't have access to any food Smile).

Had a bowl of buttery brussels last night for supper, along with a couple of glasses of Cava (living the high life Grin). Tonight we're having roast chicken and I'll do a celeriac Dauphinoise for me and some roast potatoes for dad and dh. Dad hates brassicas, so I'll probably just do butter leeks alongside. I've made Tom Kerridge's low carb creme brûlée for dessert, adapted to be a Melktert (South African milk tart) version with the cream infused with cinnamon as well as the vanilla pod and almond essence added. I'll add some cinnamon to the inulin when I brûlée it.

I blew it last night, I was stuck on a very delayed train late evening with the teenagers I work with, i’d been up since 5. I took my own lunch and snacks to the event and it was all good. But on the train I just couldn’t change the message that I wanted to and was going to eat carbs. Cheese sandwich crisps and chocolate bar Sad. I’ve managed 7 whole weeks with none of that (the chocolate is an especially big deal!) so I feel gutted and silly. Anyway straight back on it today so hopefully damage limited. I could feel my motivation weakening throughout the week though, i’m Just not losing like I would like to (Or like I did last time I low carbed when I was actually eating more carbs, allowing myself things like sweet potato! And not drinking any water because I didn’t know it was a thing) so i’m struggling to see it as worth it. I really wanted to be about half a stone lighter by now which is when I start to like the way I look!

Alphonzo, you haven't blown it! 7 weeks with one blip is amazing, and you're straight back on it again today so don't beat yourself up too much - I had some wine last week and was also gutted with myself, more so really because I didn't actually enjoy it so was pretty pointless.

Just had a disaster - was feeling very smug as I got my act together this morning and prepared a broccoli soup for later, lovely shallots and leeks chopped and fried in olive oil, stock poured in with the broccoli bubbling away nicely, then a crash - the sodding washing machine hit the spin cycle and the pan fell sending bitty sodding broccoli bits all over my kitchen!! It was carnage Sad Not sure I can be bothered to do it again Sad

I am very excited, just ordered some yacon in my weekly veggie box. I gather it's low carb and tastes a little like pear or apple. I have seen a recipe for yacon Waldorf where the yacon replaces the apple. I will report back!

Nightmare. I sympathise. Soup sounded lovely, too. Do you have anything else on hand? We are having sausage barms (kids and dh) or sausage and coleslaw (me).

Thanks birdy - I have a feeling i will be finding bits of broccoli for quite a while! I manned up and made another, it is now bubbling away nicely on the back of the hob, can't wait to have some later. Never heard of a yacon, hope it's nice!

Just checking in to say that I had to laugh when a friend’s husband said to me this morning ‘have you lost weight? You look lovely. A bit less broad in the beam’!!

I’m KOKO, in spite of a crazy few weeks at work. Working a fair today, had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast and have managed to stick to my own snack box rather than diving into the bakery for a pasty...

'Broad in the beam' Grin Collectorofcookbooks

Nobody has made any comments to me yet - I think the pounds I've lost are not very noticeable because I'm a bit overly broad in the beam!

Had a bit of a crappy day food-wise today because I've been busy at work. Stuck to low carb, but have eaten lots of processed rubbish (corned beef anyone!?) and not enough veg. Haven't drunk enough water either. Onwards and upwards for tomorrow though! [smail]

B: Ham and mozarella
L: Ham and philadelphia (too much ham today!)
D: Corned beef, mushrooms, aubergine slices , with a fried egg on top.
