Morning all

Remember that this week (along with last week) is infamous for seeing little or no weight loss!

Don't change what you're doing, just keep on keeping on and things will start moving again soon.

Here's the spreadsheet

Hope you all have a good week

Kermit if you're already fasting over 16 hours then it's well worth trying a 24-hour fast (dinner to dinner) or 36-hour fast (dinner to breakfast) to see how you find it. The health benefits of a 24 to 36-hour fast are greater than those of a 16-hour fast but after 36 hours the benefits don't increase significantly. I tend to aim for 24 hours but not worry if I decide to break it early, I don't see the point in going longer than you're comfortable just to make a set number of hours. If you are trying these longer casts then I suggest only doing them once or twice in a month because it's still important to get adequate micronutrients for good health.

Oh, shagme (always makes me smile writing that!), I’m so envious of your new business. I’ve developed a real love of fashion and clothes since I lost weight. My own HoC experience was pretty crap (not a great consultant), but I’m still fascinated by it. Wishing you lots of luck and many lovely clients.

Kermit, I find it easy to incorporate fasting into this WOE. Since reading Jason Fung’s book I’m trying not to always skip the same meal. I’ve managed a 24 hour fast - dinner to dinner - without any problems.

Not feeling well today - aches and feeling weak. Think I’m coming down with something...Not sure what to eat as I have been I’ll apart from minor colds since eating this way. In the past, I would have had toast, crackers and soup. What do other people eat when not feeling well?

@boldlygoingsomewhere, why does Jason Fung say to avoid always skipping the same meal? Sorry to hear you're unwell. If toast is your thing then you could make some keto bread and toast it - I do 90sec bread in microwave, toast it and slather in butter.

I've just updated spreadsheet from yesterday. Lost 2lbs, but then I had to restart BC so it's actually just the start of week 2 for me. I'm back to where I was at the start of BC proper so that's good. Onwards and downwards, all!

@stuntnun, I noticed you'd said that 12eggs a week is perfectly healthy and I googled it to find the research.

It hadn't occurred to me before that there was such a thing as too many eggs so interesting to read it. But I would eat 12 eggs in a few days without batting an eyelid so probably have more like 24 in a week. Blush Is that really bad??

Thank you, ilovecherries. I am also a big fan of fashion—well, Personal Style, really. As much as I’d love to be Sophia Loren or Elle MacPherson or Cate Blanchett or (obvious choice) Audrey Hepburn, it’s been much more gratifying to explore what I actually love and what really works for me. Style makes me feel stronger on days I’m feeling low about things, such as my struggles with weight loss.

I’m going to send you a PM because I don’t want the thread to be derailed and I also don’t want to be seen to be “touting for business” or be advertising my company. Probably shouldn’t have mentioned it by name (but I’m so excited)! Grin

LeapinLizards, it was to do with avoiding lowering the BMR. In a set pattern, your body ‘learns’ it and is more likely to lower your metabolism. Can’t rememeber if I read it in his blog or his book on fasting...

Will see if I can find the exact wording as he explains it much better than I can!

prettybird · 06/11/2018 08:10

Leapinlizards - not commenting on the research (since I haven't looked IP any Blush) but if you were to do the egg fast, then you would be eating a minimum of 6 eggs a day for up to 5 days ShockGrin

I'm thinking of doing an egg fast towards the end of November, so that I've got time to taper back to "normal" eating before Christmas and manage any potential rebound.

No weight loss this week, still going up and down on the same 2 pounds daily which is annoying, I'm not struggling with the food, it's great, but, I am having hormonal issues, almost like pregnancy/puberty symptoms - my boobs are so big and sore (never had this on any previous diet, the weight usually goes straight from my boobs first!), my skin isn't great either, stomach cramping, irritability, emotional and I had an aura migraine this morning which meant I had to call in a favour to get DS to school as I couldn't drive.

Not much fun at all.

Made a lovely broccoli soup though, I don't like stilton so just swirled a bit of cream and thin sliced cheddar to melt on top. Also made some really easy pancakes which made a lighter change from omelette (2 eggs, 60g marscapone whisked to a thin batter then fried in butter and filled with whatever I can find, butter fried veggies and chopped ham or similar then grated parmesan on top) Loving the food Grin KOKO everyone

Up a lb, but I was away for a few days so I'm okay with it - will be better when I get back into the routine. Not feeling very well today. Could be to do with last night's repast of cabbage and gin. I tremble for my officemates this morning.

Boldly if you're not well then look after your health first before worrying too much about carbs. Heinz Cream of Chicken Soup isn't too carby and is a good standby for when you're not well enough to cook. I add some butter when reheating to get the fat content up a little.

Leapin the only proper study I could find looked at 12 eggs per week so that is proven safe but there is no reason to think that more is bad for you. My personal record is 23 in three days but I couldn't eat eggs at all for 15 months while I was breastfeeding my DS4 who is allergic so I did have a complete binge on eggs once he was weaned off the breast. Eating huge quantities of eggs is potentially limiting your nutrient intake so if you do eat a lot of eggs then make sure you're balancing your nutrients with a variety of other foods.

PrettyBird I think you could get better results with adding some meat and/or fish into the egg fast. My theory is that the egg fast is too low in protein so I would add in a small amount of meat, e.g. a 250g steak, or a tin of sardines or similar into each day.

Redd that sounds like your oestrogen levels are out of whack. It should resolve within one or two cycles.

Thanks all. @boldly, that's interesting about the intermittent fasting. It's like we constantly have to outwit our bodies!

@stuntnun, I eat lots of eggs, though haven't yet hit 23 in three days. That's phenomenal. @prettybird, I did the egg fast for a few days - couldn't manage the full five days (I'm not @stuntnun Grin).

No weight loss for me this week, however my trousers are looser so I will take that as a win. I have been following this woe since the 18th June and am now 10kgs down. Still a work in progress but enjoying the journey.

Anyone working with celeriac? I’ve been cooking a lot of it lately and remembered from over a year ago people were saying it’s a bitch to peel.

Try getting a Crinkle Cutter. My favourite is this one from the Pampered Chef because it has the rounded blade and is also marvelous for using on herbs in a rolling fashion. Pampered Chef doesn’t trade in the UK anymore Sad but have a look on eBay, or just google crinkle cutter.

For celeriac, I use it to turn the round into a square by just pushing down each side. It is soooo much easier than using a peeler and if there’s a little waste, so be it. Life’s too short.

I’ve just had bacon, egg and mushrooms for lunch. It was really nice but the smell of cooking bacon brought ds1 out of his bedroom so I had to feed him and dh too. I’m really not keen on cooking at lunchtime. I’ve got some pork belly strips for dinner with buttered green beans.

I have Fibromyalgia which gives me a fuzzy head and a feeling of being a bit off balance. With this WOE I definitely feel more “balanced”, much less fuzzy and less sore so it certainly has its benefits.

@Iamnotacerealkiller
10-4 =6 so six weeks.Wink

but shhh your right we've done 3 but it's a bit like a gym coach saying just 10 more to go, then counting down 10,9,8,7,6,5,4, miss 1, 4, 3, miss 1, 2, last push the last couple come out nice last 15. Smile

Well got the bike set up on a simple trainer and did and hour in the 80%-93% HR range -- burned 750 calories and then switch to some planks, sit-ups and stretches to cool down and that burnt another 125
according to HR monitor app.

Will be wrapping up warm and going for a ride at the weekend on the old trail bike so not to far but probably for an hour or 5.

Hi all. 1lb on for me this week, but after my horrendous cold last week I'm not surprised.

Ferrier - I make keto bread occasionally. I get a small tupperware, put in some almond flour (a small tablespoon or so), a pinch of baking powder, some flax and chia seeds, an egg and a slice of melted butter. Mix it together, microwave 90 seconds, half it and toast it. It's delicious on those days when only toast will do.

Found a new thing in Sainsbury's, maybe for Christmas? A terracota pot with cheese and chorizo melt in. It was delicious with dipping veg (I used broccoli and asparagus spears) for a midweek supper. See pictures.
