Morning all!

I love this week. It's my favourite week of the whole Bootcamp, because it's when people are finally convinced that it works!

And already I see some great losses - yes @TightPants that really can be true. No your scales aren't wrong, and presumably you'll be changing your name very soon?!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness to record the first week's loss.

Looking forward to hearing more great results Flowers

@WheelyWheelySpookilicousCotee

He often falls asleep on me in the morning to early afternoon but as he gets tired in the afternoon he finds it harder to sleep on me but isnt fussing very much, its hard to tell with him as he is very quiet and hardly complains. no cold (he's bomb proof). i suspect my supply is better early in the day and then declines. this was certainly the case before, i would get less throughout the day. i stopped pumping in the mornings as we would want to feed so changed to evenings after he goes to bed and that system has worked for the last couple of months.

@prettybird

no idea really about the water, im on my feed all day rushing about so i dont really keep track, im likely getting 2l but not entirely sure, its hard constantly needing the loo when feeding/under a napping baby. will actively try to drink more. it may help when the tea arrives as there will be something other then water to drink.

My son slept through from 11 weeks too so i have always been playing catch up with my supply. Its always been on the low side, no squirting or anything else exciting that others report. its only by constant pumping that i have gotten this far.

@StuntNun, if anything im overeating. im a massive foodie although i tend to have a modest breakfast and lunch and be more generous with dinner.

Thanks for your help all, :), think i will keep at it for another week by upping the water and pumping longer. will make sure i eat lots too. if no progress in a few days i may have to have a go pumping a bit in the morning after he eats breakfast (ug i hated doing this before) it may stimulate my supply.

Did 5k park run today then a roast for relatives. included celariac fritters for me instead of the roasties, shredded brussels with bacon and couliflour cheese with the beef. great and im stuffed plus that lunch/dinner for the baby sorted for a few days. freezer is stuffed!

twoseven · 27/10/2018 20:04

Hi
Anyone know about edamame beans?Sad

Littleorangetree · 27/10/2018 20:08

Oh good lord - my son is eating a Gu chocloate cheesecake pot right next to me! It smells delicious!! This is the first time I've properly, desperately craved someting sweet since starting this bootcamp. I need to distract myself - time for a cuppa!! Brew

BIWI · 27/10/2018 21:29

@twoseven - read the rules! Any bean/pulse/legume is way too carby for Bootcamp. Sorry!

@Littleorangetree

I found my sense of smell is stronger on lc (or maybe I just notice more) my oh always asks if I want a sniff of sonething before he eats it Blush. I honestly enjoy it more as it's guilt free. I think it ties into a physiological technique where you think about a wanted food lots and that reduces you appetite for it. Works for me :)

Iamnotacerealkiller · 28/10/2018 06:35

Ah yes here it is. Not sure if it will help every one!

CodLiverOil556 · 28/10/2018 07:59

Woo hoo the hard bit is nearly over! Anyone else really looking forward to tomorrow? I hate eating breakfast so looking forward to 16:8 which combined with LCHF makes the weight fall off me.

I have discovered sesame seed oil which smells delicious and tastes great. I fried my mushrooms in it last night...what a revelation!

Onward to week 3 peeps with nuts, booze and berries

Ampstrong · 28/10/2018 08:14

Yay, another week nearly done yes Kermit looking forward to weigh tomo but I haven't been to toilet for 4 days 😳 am a bit concerned. I take codeine and it's notoriously easy to get constipated when using it, the low carb lifestyle certainly isn't helping I don't think. The good new is I'm not hungry!

autumntimebrowns · 28/10/2018 08:32

Well celeriac would sort out any problems I had in that area. Explosive would be one word for it. Darent touch the stuff!

Doilooklikeatourist · 28/10/2018 08:38

Good morning all , having a lie in and a coffee
Omlette ? or poached eggs and avo ? for breakfast is the burning question of the moment ...
@Ampstrong , I’m still suffering with constipation, even celeriac didn't help
Long walk and lots of water planned for today
Will be studying the fruit list , and planning fruit salad for breakfast tomorrow , though nuts , booze and berries sounds like a good plan 😀

prettybird · 28/10/2018 08:54

4 days is probably a bit long Blush (especially when you factor in codeine)

However, it's worth pointing out that on this WoE, many find that they do have fewer bowel movements. I'm now averaging every 2nd day (although sometimes a couple of times that day) Blush - without being constipated.

I like to think of it like breastfed babies: they often don't have bowel movements for days at a time - but when they do, it can be explosive ShockGrin - because the food that they are having is perfectly calibrated to their nutritional requirements, so very little waste Wink

BIWI · 28/10/2018 09:06

@Doilooklikeatourist

Woah!

Will be studying the fruit list , and planning fruit salad for breakfast tomorrow , though nuts , booze and berries sounds like a good plan

Be very, very, very careful - if you start to eat fruit and nuts in quantity, along with the booze, you will very quickly be eating a high carb diet, and likely to undo the good work you've done so far!

You do, indeed, have a choice now - you can continue to stay on Bootcamp if you like and if it's suiting you, or you can move on to Bootcamp Light, which will allow you to miss meals if you want to (especially breakfast, which I know is a problem for some of you!) and you can re-introduce nuts and fruit, as well as alcohol. But only in moderation!

One thing you also need to factor in though, is the notorious Week 3 and 4 'pause'

It's very common, and has been reported by many, many Bootcampers over the year, that weight loss may stop in weeks 3 and 4 (sometimes 5). Sometimes, even if you've been following the rules, your weight may increase slightly.

For this reason, if you want to continue on Bootcamp rather than relaxing things slightly, then you can do that. But bear in mind that even if you do this, you still can't guarantee weight loss!

Don't despair if this happens to you - and take comfort in knowing that it's quite normal.

Make sure you're keeping on track, and KOKO (keep on keeping on), and things will get going again.

BIWI · 28/10/2018 09:09

@Ampstrong

Sorry to hear you're suffering, but as @prettybird says, reduced frequency is a common factor of low carbing - and on its own doesn't suggest constipation.

However, if you're having trouble going, or it's painful in any way, then that is constipation.

Make sure you're eating plenty of fat - add more than you've been eating so far, and up your water.

Make sure that you're getting your carbs from beg and salad.

Other things to consider - a strong coffee, high strength vitamin C, increased exercise. Adding flaxseed/linseed to things can help (I don't know how people do this, as this is something I've never had to do!).

And if all else fails, you can always try some sugar-free sweets - but be careful!

Thanks guys 🙂
Still haven’t tried celeriac-must do so!
I drink tons of water as my mouth gets very very dry from my meds so I know it’s not that.
I’ve moved much less than normal and not been swimming this week due to my cold but am feeling much better now and have aqua aerobics booked for tomo. This hasn’t helped I’m sure.
I like the idea of having food perfectly suited to my needs 🙂 and simply being able to go less as less waste.
I’m drinking lots of creamy coffee (not a hardship).

Will see how I go today, would like to be all clear and empty for weigh in tomo 🤞

Thanks for taking the time to respond and give suggestions.

Good luck for tomo everyone 🙂

Littleorangetree · 28/10/2018 09:29

Iamnotacerealkiller I will give that a try. We're going to the cinema today so might stick my nose into a box of popcorn and have a big sniff! Grin

oldbirdy · 28/10/2018 09:45

....and those of you who love nuts, take heed from my experience - cashew nuts are seriously high carb. And addictive.

Doilooklikeatourist · 28/10/2018 09:50

@BIWI , I will be very cautious with the fruit ( and nuts and booze ) no worries
I have had 2 casual friends say to me that I look like I’ve lost weight , I don’t want to stop losing just yet

prettybird · 28/10/2018 09:51

If you're going to have a few Wink nuts, then macadamia nuts are relatively low carb (and high in fat). I think almonds are good too Grin

Youcantscaremeihavechildren · 28/10/2018 10:51

Morning all.. I'm only a week in and was persuaded didn't take much to indulge in some prosecco last night... Will chalk it up to experience and KOKO..I'll probably see it on the scales tomorrow... on the upside, my friend had pizza in for dinner and sausage sandwiches this morning, which I avoided, although it did mean my dinner was an assortment of cheeses and cold meat plus celery. Looking forward to being where you all are this time next week.
Hoping to go for a run later, will see if that negates the booze a bit!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 28/10/2018 10:52

Morning all.

Also looking forward to fruit and nuts. A couple of times a week I'll have a 'pudding' of a satsuma, some walnuts, and some really stinky roquefort. Feels a bit christmassy and special.

Dinner tonight is pheasant casserole. Pheasant kindly donated by the estate keeper, and although I don't mind the plucking, removing the stinky bits always makes me gag a bit. Have kept quite a few handfuls of the feathers to weave into the christmas wreath. (hmm, clearly shifting into christmas mode...)

StAlphonzospancakebreakfast · 28/10/2018 11:05

I am nearing the end of week 4 and have had a two week pause. It does help to know it’s normal, although it is pretty demotivating. I feel more positive today though, having got through a few events where I thought I would break! I might try and reduce carbs again though, I was feeling quite good on about 20g a day (I know we don’t count but found it useful for the first couple of weeks).

abbey44 · 28/10/2018 11:22

Morning. I'm having a bit of a struggle at the moment. Sticking to LC isn't difficult, it's a way of life now, but I'm not seeing the results I used to, despite my efforts. This week I've followed the rules, and upped my exercise by quite a bit now that the dogs are both recovered from their operations, and five-mile walks are now back on the agenda. I'm drinking enough water too (I get a result from that - up every two hours at night Hmm). The scales, though...? Not budging.

Yesterday, though, I miscalculated my insulin and did a bit much at dinner, which meant I had a hypo later in the evening. I don't need the 30g of carbs they tell you to treat a hypo with (as I seem to by hyper-sensitive to carbs, and always have been), but it still took 10g to get me back to normal. Ten grams, but today there are an extra THREE SODDING POUNDS more on the scales. Someone up there is having a laugh, but I'm not. I mean, as if it isn't hard enough without this malarkey.

Hey ho. I'm off out with the dogs to stomp off my fed-upness. I will KOKO, obviously, but it's so demotivating when you try hard and don't see any bloody results.

Pengweng · 28/10/2018 11:36

Morning.
Is it too late for me to join in starting tomorrow?

StAlphonzospancakebreakfast · 28/10/2018 12:02

Also, cauliflower cheese .. There’s one tablespoon of flour in it, 6g of carbs, will be split between 5 people. Can I eat some or is flour just a no because science? 😂

MaudesMum · 28/10/2018 12:14

I have to say I've also had occasional problems with constipation on LCHF - usually solved by leafy veg, lots of water, and long walks! However just occasionally, when its been very uncomfortable, I've resorted to suppositaries. I don't think that's too bad, as long as it doesn't become a habit?

Any Lidl shoppers: their authentic greek yoghurt in the big pots is AMAZING - so thick you can use it in place of cream. Just checked the label and its 75% yoghurt and 25% cream. And 4.5% carbs per 100 gms.
