Welcome everyone. We have over 150 people signed up this time, so it's going to be pretty busy, and the initial chat thread is going to be very fast-moving!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to post your starting weight.

Remember, you don't have to input your actual weight if you don't want to - you can index it, which means starting at 100 and then for every pound you lose, you take off a point.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add your name to the bottom, and then the lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready will re-alphabetise the list.

If you're on the spreadsheet and you don't want to be, don't worry - just don't enter any info, and then you'll be deleted after the first couple of weeks.

@ciarabean, stupid question but have you clicked the link at the top of the thread as well as downloading Google sheets?

Day 2, I'm ready for you.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 16/10/2018 06:25

Jadzia, I’ve been low carbing since the last Bootcamp and find I naturally fall into. 16:8 pattern of eating - I don’t really feel hungry in his WOE so it’s easy to miss a meal.
I read dr Jason Fung’s book on intermittent fasting and he makes an interesting recommendation - to mix up the fasting routine. Don’t miss the same meal everyday, do the occasional longer fast etc. Apparently if you fall into a set pattern by always missing breakfast, your body is likely to adapt by lowering metabolism.

ClashCityRocker · 16/10/2018 06:51

I plan to 16:8 after the first two weeks, but having breakfast for the first two weeks makes it more tricky.

Plus it takes me a couple of weeks to lose the hunger pangs which aren't really hunger pangs, but my body telling me it thinks it wants yucky carbs and sugar after I've fed it them for far too long.... 🙄 🙄 🙄

Rshard · 16/10/2018 06:57

Remembered another benefit of this woe- I had the best sleep last night. I always sleep better when I’m fully committed. Obviously had to get up for a wee due to all the water, but I went straight back to sleep 💤

Nyon · 16/10/2018 07:01

Morning. I’d forgotten what it was like to glug so much water - need to get better at pacing it throughout the day as I ended up knocking it back during dinner which was uncomfortable and annoying when you get up every 10 minutes to pee

B: eggs and sausages (forgot the rule about sausages in boot camp)
L: pork, spinach, low carb coleslaw and blue cheese
S: cheese
D: god knows. Maybe chicken in a creamy sauce.

BIWI · 16/10/2018 07:29

Morning all!

Another one peeing for Britain last night. It's a good sign though, in the early days, as it shows you're drinking your water Grin

It does settle down, though - I promise. For me, though, it's a reminder that I need to drink more water during the day and a bit less in the evening, I think, especially till I re-adjust to it. So my goal today is to be strict about the number of cups of coffee I have, and to drink water instead of some of those I refuse.

To the questions about cream

Always double, rather than single - the fat content is much higher.

And in terms of your cups of team, 100ml of double cream is 2.6g carbs - so not too bad (assuming you're not knocking back pints of the stuff!)

Ready for day 2
Had a oke day yesterday.
B: 2 scrambled eggs with bacon
D: courgette pasta bolognaise

I have to try and sort out lunch I am really used to not having lunch. Woke up in the middle of the night to wee 2 times.

cabininthewoods2016 · 16/10/2018 07:50

Day 2

Didn't manage all the water yesterday but will try better today.

Off work this week as the schools are closed making it that bit harder. Cinema trips and days out planned.

I can do this!

TheGlaikitRambler · 16/10/2018 07:54

Day 1 for me, I am ready to do this.
Hope everyone has a great day Smile

blackteaplease · 16/10/2018 07:59

I swap coffee for a mug of hot water at work, somehow it feels less like a chore to drink. I always have a pint of cold on my desk as well but struggle to drink it.

JumpingintoLCHF · 16/10/2018 08:09

Please can someone add me and I'll do the thing where you start drom 100 because the scales have run put of batteries so I won't weigh until this afternoon. Thanks.

RosalieAlys · 16/10/2018 08:09

Day 2 here we go.
Have to admit I’m the usually the sort of dieter who does a day of dieting then looks in the mirror to have a look at (what should be) dramatic weight loss just to be disappointed 😂😂
But I am feeling good this morning. Not hungry, and for the first time in ages not tired ! Flook? Maybe but I’m riding the high right now 😂

Nyon · 16/10/2018 08:14

I’m the usually the sort of dieter who does a day of dieting then looks in the mirror to have a look at (what should be) dramatic weight loss just to be disappointed 😂😂 @RosalieAlys I do that as well sucking it all in as well as I do I think you’re also the poster who asked about fruit tea yesterday - when I did LCHF last time, I found that my tolerance for the sweeter fruit teas was awful and that I ended up having to drink sharper tasting ones or adding some lemon juice just to counteract it.

Catbot · 16/10/2018 08:23

Morning campers! So glad I saw the thread, I nearly missed the start of BC!

I just wanted to say, to any sceptics or ditherers (like I was) that it has taken me a while to really get to grips with this woe BUT on Saturday I went to a baby shower at cafe that specialises in afternoon teas. I was sat on a table of six women with tiered plates of sandwiches and a tray of scones with jam right in front of me...... and I WASN'T EVEN TEMPTED. You could knock me down with a feather. I conceded to one slice of cake from the counter but that was a treat and I was straight back to lchf with no cravings.

So very excited to do another bootcamp and really feel able to stick with it now.

KNpepper · 16/10/2018 08:33

@Grah

Thanks so much for the explanation. That makes a lot of sense and puts a positive spin on a stall ie that a whoosh is (hopefully) soon coming along

PurpleMac · 16/10/2018 08:34

Day 1 was such a success that I'm feeling really motivated. I have such a sweet tooth so this is really important to me. I'm 223lbs but if I can lose 50lbs I'll be happy. I did this a few years back and felt so much better for it but struggled with infertility and put it all back on and more.

BIWI · 16/10/2018 08:54

@NLisa

Rule number 1 - you must eat three meals a day! There also wasn't much veg going on in your day ...

prettybird · 16/10/2018 08:57

That's interesting boldly re timing of the "fast": I might be guilty of having got into too much of a routine of just missing breakfast.

Once I'm fully fat adapted, I also sometimes do a near 24 hour fast - if I know I'm going to be busy/not have access to food, eg when supporting ds at rugby. Might be more difficult to plan now that he's away at Uni, so my Saturdays aren't taken up with rugby supporting. Grin

Chesterfieldsofa · 16/10/2018 09:09

Hello all, a bit shiny and new here - I only saw the thread on Sunday evening, so here goes

B: Cheese omelette
L: Halloumi & asparagus
D: Slow cooked mutton with peppers & leek. Broccoli
Probably drank about 2.5L of water, must check how big our glasses are (the Ikea ones)

I know it is cheese-heavy, but short notice and it's all we had in. The mutton was already cooking Sunday eve too. I popped to Lidl last night and bought some sliced meats, eggs, yoghurt and salad so better prepared for today, although have just had sliced beef and cherry tomatoes for breakfast and feel a bit odd.

Laska5772 · 16/10/2018 09:10

my weekend weigh /water gain has gone again so I have adjusted my start weight down to what it was at the end of last week..

bibliomania · 16/10/2018 09:34

Hey seafour, I remember you from last time. Thanks for the good wishes and hope the op is a massive success.

cherries, how do you make the shredded cabbage and shallot bake? I'm hoping to expand my repertoire by looking at what others are doing.

Today had coffee and cream and Greek yoghurt with ground cardamom.
Lunch will be a salad (forgot carrots aren't a very lc veg, but never mind).
Dinner - planning cauliflower "rice" pilau with egg and prawns (and ginger and garlic and shallots and bean sprouts - love it).

Justmuddlingalong · 16/10/2018 10:02

Oops, just posted this in an old thread when looking for this graph.

Good morning fellow BCers! I've attached a graph of my weight from the last bootcamp to show the peaks and troughs over the weeks. I'm a daily weigher, because I find it keeps me on track, but I know that's not for everyone. As long as the scales are heading in the downward direction overall, it keeps me motivated. If you have a stall or a slight gain, don't sabotage it by thinking fuck it. It will continue to drop if you stick with it. Have a great day.

And off we go! Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - Week 1
CodLiverOil556 · 16/10/2018 10:10

@Catbot that's awesome that you weren't even tempted! I find that once I'm in the zone I can resist anything and I have a mouthful of sweet teeth...hence why I'm 13 stone

I have a question about Alpro yoghurt...I really dread the Greek yoghurt I literally force it down can I have Alpro instead?

MumOfAPickle · 16/10/2018 10:47

Morning! Good to hear that day 1 went well anyway! I had chicken curry with cavello Nero for dinner. It was a Roman josh from a packet which wasn’t ideal but was about 6g carbs per 100 and DH has done it with the best of intentions 🙄

Had 2 breakfast muffins this morning and am sat in my team meeting resolutely ignoring the choc digestives! Actually not even tempted, I find it so much easier when there is an absolute no on stuff like this rather than convincing myself that 1 doesn’t matter, it’s only a small bit, I won’t have anything tomorrow etc....

MumOfAPickle · 16/10/2018 10:48

Rogan josh not Roman Blush
