Welcome everyone. We have over 150 people signed up this time, so it's going to be pretty busy, and the initial chat thread is going to be very fast-moving!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to post your starting weight.

Remember, you don't have to input your actual weight if you don't want to - you can index it, which means starting at 100 and then for every pound you lose, you take off a point.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add your name to the bottom, and then the lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready will re-alphabetise the list.

If you're on the spreadsheet and you don't want to be, don't worry - just don't enter any info, and then you'll be deleted after the first couple of weeks.

I didn't get a job i really wanted on Friday so i'm afraid I let emotional eating get the better of me on Friday night. Won't go into details..!

But i did get right out and do my low carb weekly shop in the morning so i could get back on the wagon. I know it will have affected any weight loss and i've accepted that. I need to remember that i am doing this for me, and no matter what happens in my life, filling my body with crap is not going to make matters better!

Making a roast chicken with caulflower and broccolli cheese today.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 21/10/2018 09:32

Oh, Henry, so sorry to hear that. Was it something that will come up/round again?

Been a bit off my food the last few days, don't know why, but been eating lumps of stuff out of the fridge rather than proper meals. Hasn't translated into any further loss unfortunately, but am going to make an effort today to make a proper meal (also roast chicken) and sit down with it until it gives in. Flowers to all who are feeling a bit on the verge!

BIWI · 21/10/2018 09:41

Sorry to hear that @HenryInTheTunnel. Just get back on the wagon as quickly as you can! Emotional eating is a real enemy.

Welcome @froufroulala Flowers

@oldbirdy that's hard, isn't it? You did your best - although I wouldn't, personally, have had the Diet Coke! But life is like that and sometimes there's no alternative. I hope you enjoyed it!

@reddA don't eat little and often. Every time you do that you're disrupting your blood sugar. Just eat your three meals a day, and make sure you're eating plenty of fat, and also drinking your water. You should find that you're not hungry between meals - if you are then eat something then.

Happy Sunday everyone , haven’t weighed yet , leaving that for a full week , but I measured my waist , and I’ve lost an inch !
From 33 to 32 , so still too big , but going in the right direction

Had lunch with a friend , I’d not mentioned low carb ( as she was cooking ) and there was lovely chorizo and black bean stew , avoided the bread though

No wine last night ! that’s unusual in the Tourist household , sticking to the sparkling water , was tempted by low cal tonic , it’s no carb , but has artificial sweetener so I gave it a miss

Mushrooms and sausages for breakfast , 2 coffees , and on my 2nd glass of water

prettybird · 21/10/2018 09:57

Littleorangetree - that looks tasty but a bit low in fat, unless you put lots of butter on the courgettes and are the chicken breast with all its skins. Venison is very low in fat so won't have contributed much.

Welcome froufroulala Flowers - I made it down from just under 15 stone to under 11 stone 13 in 7 months last year. Have been a bit up and down this year but am currently 11 stone 9lb and planning to get under 11 stone by Christmas.

Littleorangetree · 21/10/2018 10:26

I fried the venison meatballs and aubergine in butter and oil, so hopefully that added some fats prettybird. You're right though - I need to make sure that I'm adding plenty to each meal to keep me full.

I had Total yohurt with some cream and cinnamon mixed in for breakfast and thought it was quite nice. I've run out of eggs, so need to get some more when I'm near a shop tomorrow (I live in the middle of nowhere!).

I'm going to make a pan of soup today as part of my batch cooking session - maybe cauliflower and courgette?

ClashCityRocker · 21/10/2018 11:09

Hello all!

I'm away for the weekend so just catching up on the thread.

Feeling quite pleased with myself as have managed to avoid non-optimal foods and holidays are usually a disaster.

Had a delicious pulled spiced lamb kebab (no bread, obvs) last night. It was absolutely delicious and I shall try to recreate it at home. It was a good reminder that actually, most meals don't miss carbs at all. (Although to be fair, I've never been a pasta fan!)

Re exercise - I've found once I'm over the carb flu stage, my daily cycle to work is a lot easier. I've been lc-ing for three weeks now and have cut five minutes off my journey time.

prettybird · 21/10/2018 11:34

Not possible when you're away (and having a takeaway?) but for future similar meals, I've posted a recipe for very nice low carb flat breads in the Vegetarian Boot Camp recipe thread.

Very easy and tasty Smile

Peaches2018 · 21/10/2018 11:38

Thank you @Spiderkitty and to everyone else I resisted the biccie temptation today again!!Hubby and his biccie obsession!!!
@HenryInTheTunnel I hope you're feeling better today, it'll get better for sure.
I agree with BIWI emotional eating is the worst enemy.

Question though: When I'm up in the morning I'm not hungry at all!!!!! Is this bad? What can I do with this, still eat or eat later?

HenryInTheTunnel · 21/10/2018 12:55

Thanks @Peaches2018 and @BIWI , onwards and upwards. The job would have been much closer to home and I was hopeful that it would contribute to me being less tired, less prone to eating petrol station shit in the car because i hadn't managed to get lunch and have more time to do positive things for myself and my family. I do need to make changes!

@Peaches2018 i am not a breakfast fan either. My usual breakfast on LC is greek yoghurt with cinnamon or frozen berries once BC is over. It's not too filling but means i've had something and it's zero faff. Having said that, if you don't eat breakfast anyway, could you incorporate some intermittent fasting to help your weightloss?

BIWI · 21/10/2018 13:00

@Peaches2018 give it another week of having breakfasts, and then after than you can drop it if you'd rather.

Also, you don't have to eat a lot!

Peaches2018 · 21/10/2018 13:11

@HenryInTheTunnel Oh goodness yeah I remember travelling with work too it's the worst to eat on the go!! I was constantly stuck in trains and foods on the train stations are way too fatty and gross after a while. I just started to carry better snacks along and cooking forward on Sundays. I'm not a too big yoghurt fan and the one I like have way too much sugar

@BIWI Okey I'm sure I can manage another week of breakfasts with some egg and coffee but I'm thinking to drop it later on since I still feel full in the mornings. If I do get hungry I'll have something of course

prettybird · 21/10/2018 13:27

The good thing about this WoE is that once you are fat adapted, then it becomes easy to "dine in" Wink (as a previous BootCamper put it Grin) and fasting becomes easier. This means that it gets easier to go away on trips/days out and not need to eat. So although it is important to be prepared with low carb snacks like pepperami or babybels, it becomes not so essential and often you don't feel the need to eat them except out of habit Wink or is that just me? Blush

ClashCityRocker · 21/10/2018 16:49

prettybird thank you, I will look that up.

We're staying in lodges but the on site restaurant do food delivered to the lodge, so a takeaway but not a kebab-shop style one. Very delicious anyway, and as it was pulled lamb I can't imagine there will be too many nasties in there.

Chesterfieldsofa · 21/10/2018 17:08

I thought that I'd pretty much read the threads that I needed to, but the whole 'stick to three meals a day' thing has completely passed me by. I thought you could eat whenever you wanted as such? I can't eat only three times a day, does this mean that this woe will not be compatible with me?

prettybird · 21/10/2018 17:19

In the Rules (in the Spreadsheet linked to in the OP) it does state clearly that you must have 3 meals a day - but that if you really are hungry inbetweentimes, to eat (as long as it is HFLC).

If you're following the Rules properly, with plenty of fat and water, you shouldn't actually feel hungry that often. So much of our "hunger" isn't actually hunger, it's habit or boredom. I know that's certainly the case for me Blush, as I can easily do a 24 hour fast without feeling hungry if I'm in the right mindset Wink, so when I keep on snacking, my "hunger" is just an excuse Blush

BIWI · 21/10/2018 17:39

@Chesterfieldsofa - the first rule, eat three meals a day!

However, yes I always say that you should eat if you're hungry, as this isn't a WOE that's about deprivation. But that said, once you're fat-adapted, which should happen after the first two weeks of Bootcamp, you should find that you're not hungry between meals any more, so you'll just be eating at mealtimes. And in fact you may find you're not even hungry at mealtimes!

Hope everyone's having a good Sunday :) I just had a lovely dinner, left over chicken from yesterday with buttered sprouts, Broccoli with cheese sauce (just cream, dash of coconut milk and cheddar with seasoning) and celeriac mash - first time I've ever had celeriac, it smelt rank whilst cooking and I was really not hopeful but once I'd added seasoning, butter and cream it tasted lovely, very impressed!

Saved some veg to fry up with some cabbage tomorrow, bubble and squeak type concoction Grin

Peaches2018 · 21/10/2018 20:36

Hello all I had a busy clean up day and I'm still buzzing with energy here (very surprising for me)
Had left over chicken, veggies and everything covered in cheese yum.
Took measurements of myself today as well (as I did last Sunday) and I couldn't believe my eyes!
Looking forward very much to start week 2!!!!

Wildheartsease · 21/10/2018 20:53

I'm also impressed with celeriac mash.

It doesn't just look like potato mash - it is actually hard to tell that it isn't (especially if you add a bit of cheese/butter/chives. Amazing - and a great 'find'.

Pressure cooker beef (also suggested on here) is amazing too. I had a rare and really tender joint with family... and have more left for the week. I plan to make avocado/chilli/shallot/tomato rolls with it.

Good luck for weigh day everyone!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 21/10/2018 21:06

Whew! finally caught up with the thread after getting back from holiday.

successfully started low carbing on monday but no reliable internet. Went to a an amazing AGA oven demo yesterday (i dont own one, i was with a friend). it took two hours and the guy doing it was amazing and just kept putting/making dish after dish right in front of us.

We had been promised 'nibbles' but ended up with a massive home cooked buffet type thing. i avoided the roulard, crumble, potatoes, rice, carrots, pop corn and just had an amazing meal of roasted belly pork, cod in pesto and stirfried greens. im buying a belly pork next time im shopping! OMG!!!

Today however i had sunday lunch at my mothers and she only revealed afterwards the mystery ingredients in the stew was lentil dhall!!! not the end of the world but more carbs then i would have wanted. Didnt have the mash or potatoes. She hasn't quite grasped what im doing i think...

Chesterfieldsofa · 21/10/2018 21:23

Apologies, I wasn't very clear, I have to eat at every 3ish hours for boring medical reasons rather than hunger reasons. I've misunderstood - I thought that the 3 meals was there to push people to eat breakfast to be honest.

BIWI · 21/10/2018 21:49

Ah, sorry, @Chesterfieldsofa.

And yes, it's there to push people to eat breakfast (but also about eating proper meals rather than just grazing).

Do you medical needs dovetail well with Bootcamp though?

I have no idea, will find out I guess.

prettybird · 21/10/2018 23:33

I know we have one Type 1 Diabetic who follow the BootCamp Woe - @abbey44 - but she does so with the full and informed support of her consultant and very good monitoring and awareness.
