Welcome everyone. We have over 150 people signed up this time, so it's going to be pretty busy, and the initial chat thread is going to be very fast-moving!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to post your starting weight.

Remember, you don't have to input your actual weight if you don't want to - you can index it, which means starting at 100 and then for every pound you lose, you take off a point.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add your name to the bottom, and then the lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready will re-alphabetise the list.

If you're on the spreadsheet and you don't want to be, don't worry - just don't enter any info, and then you'll be deleted after the first couple of weeks.

@blackteaplease thanks, yes a supermarket would have been easier, unfortunately I came out of one meeting and only had 15 mins before due in the next one, so coffee shop was all I could manage. Lesson learned though. I could do with keeping some pork scratchings or similar in the car for emergencies Smile

ilovecherries · 15/10/2018 21:28

Hope everyone has had a good first day. I decided to celebrate the first day back of b/c by having pork belly for dinner. Something I had never eaten in my life prior to my first bootcamp! Roasted pork belly, microwaved sprouts and a shredding cabbage and shallot bake. Delicious!

JadziaSnax · 15/10/2018 21:34

Count me in. I've already been low carbing for the last 2 weeks in conjunction with intermittent fasting for 4 days per week. My appetite has shrunk massively and I'm definitely feeling better in myself.

I'm currently standing at 216 lbs and feeling Blush that I let it get to this point.

Can I stick with the 16:8 at the same time as boot camp? I'm no longer hungry in the mornings. Thanks

KNpepper · 15/10/2018 21:37

I have a question I’m hoping someone can help with. I have been eating lchf for a number of weeks now and have seen been through a couple of weight stalls where I’m not losing any weight but am losing inches in terms of measurements. How is that possible? Is there some magical scientific reason this happens?

oldbirdy · 15/10/2018 21:40

Day 1 food complete
Breakfast Greek yogurt, coffee with cream
Lunch ham salad with avocado, green leaves, cheddar, cucuumber and vinaigrette.
Snack pork scratchings and small slice cheese
Dinner 2 egg omelette with chopped gammon and coleslaw : red and white cabbage with yogurt and blue cheese dressing (full fat, low carb).

Drink : need another stack of water before bed.

How many carbs in tea with full cream milk? I usually have 2 to 3 cups a day.

Rshard · 15/10/2018 21:48

I’ve really enjoyed reading about eveyone’s meals, I’ve had
B - bacon, eggs scrambled in butter
L - lettuce rocket spinach cucumber chicken and mayo
D - brussels and broccoli nuked with butter

W - all done.

Have also dodged cake in the office

prettybird · 15/10/2018 21:50

Re electrolytes, in addition to making sure I salt my brussels (Have I mentioned how much I like the buttery green balls of deliciousness microwaved brussels? Wink) I also usually make every 2nd pint of water a home-made electrolyte drink with a couple of shakes of Lo-Salt and a squirt of lemon juice.

Seems to keep the headaches away - and counter-intuitively, makes me less thirsty.

Which reminds me.....that might explain why I have a headache Blush

Peaches2018 · 15/10/2018 22:06

Well today didn't go too well but there's tomorrow again to try and get a lot better at it Smile

Had a good low carb lunch (egg whites and turkey pieces that I had to finish, in butter yummy) but I had to finish dinner or otherwise throw it since the DH didn't eat it and guess what: I'm hungry already Sad

About cream: do you use single cream or double cream? I would like to use some in the coffee but is that actually tasty? Got no experience with it at all. Looked at the recipes and I already got hungry to try them out hahahah

Hope everyone else had a good first day today Flowers

Mandelinka · 15/10/2018 22:08

a home-made electrolyte drink with a couple of shakes of Lo-Salt and a squirt of lemon juice.
Have to try this. I’ve been drinking literally litres of herbal teas evert day ( green, mint etc) but I’m keen to discover something new.
Btw loooove fruit/green teabag in a large glass of sparkling water.

Mandelinka · 15/10/2018 22:10

home-made electrolyte drink with a couple of shakes of Lo-Salt and a squirt of lemon juice
Trying again ;)

prettybird · 15/10/2018 22:15

KNPepper - yes, that is very common. It's why we recommend taking measurements as well as (or even instead of) recording your weight.

The scientific reason is to do with both reducing water retention/bloating and - the really positive and important thing - reducing visceral fat, the dangerous fat around your organs.

bluehaze · 15/10/2018 22:32

Hi is it too late to start out with you all?
My weight today is 89 kg. I’ll try to work out conversion in lbs.
thanks :))

starsky22 · 15/10/2018 22:35

bluehaze never too late, welcome to the gang!

Ciarabean · 15/10/2018 22:38

I’ve downloaded the app but the spreadsheet isn’t showing up (though I can see the May 2017 one). Could someone please add 137 as my stating weight - many thanks!

starsky22 · 15/10/2018 22:42

JadziaSnax If you've been low carbing for a while and are fat adapted, then it's fine to do 16:8 with this, quite a few have done intermittent fasting on previous bootcamps and probably still are. I found that I naturally went longer between meals, as I was no longer hungry or getting food cravings and so fell into 16:8 and still do it most days.

peaches2018 am I reading that you had a high carb dinner rather than throw it out? If so, you are not a dustbin! Don't do that to yourself. I hate wasting food, but we have to learn that for our own health it is better to put food in the bin, than in us!

starsky22 · 15/10/2018 22:48

This was my day:
B sausages
L rotisserie chicken, salad & mayo (this is my staple supermarket bought lunch if I don't manage to bring something into work)
D sausage & broccoli bake
Snacks - chicken satay
And 3 litres of water!

Bit too much processed food with the sausages, but didn't have much else in the fridge, got a low carb food shop coming tomorrow and just added sprouts after seeing everyone's posts today! Yum!

Pigletpoglet · 15/10/2018 22:56

Can I join a bit late? Been lchf-ing on and off for 4 yrs. Well, lchf for 2 yrs, then eating packets of custard creams for 2 yrs due to work stress. Have last vanity 3kg to lose, which I'd like to do before Xmas (and then probably again after Xmas...).
Today:
B: 2 sausages, fried tomatoes, 3 scrambled eggs
L: chicken salad
D: Roast duck, sweet potato chips (oops), broccoli, 2 squares 90% Lindt (oops again - no wonder it's coming off so slowly)

1.5 litres water, 3 weak teas, 3 herbal teas.

KNpepper · 15/10/2018 23:38

Thanks @prettybird

As a follow-up, if one is losing visceral fat why don’t the numbers on the scale move down at the same time?

Seafour · 16/10/2018 00:34

Just popping in to wish everyone good luck, I'm not joining you this time because I'm just coming to the end of treatment for skin cancer and have my major spinal surgery coming up in exactly three weeks and five days time.

Have a blast, eat the veg, drink the water, don't listen to the diet saboteurs around you and don't make excuses.

bluehaze · 16/10/2018 01:49

I’ve added myself to the spreadsheet, read the Rules and the whole thread. Ready to go!! Glad everyone has set off with a good first day - makes me feel inspired to lose weight finally! My big challenge will be having breakfast. I never do but beginning to see why it would be better - so I’m going to have a boiled egg no toast tomorrow. Good luck everyone :)

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 16/10/2018 04:29

@starsky22 hello, I do like to say " can't Cheat on Day 1" feels good
to be remembered. Grin

b bacon eggs
L chicken, Mayo, coleslaw table spoon of Habanero and scotch bonnet sauce
supper roast beef and veg

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 16/10/2018 04:41

@KNPepper

Google says -- Water density is higher than fat
cut and paste from one of many explanations -
it's added water weight; glycogen stores refilling, higher sodium retention, higher insulin sensitivity (or chronic high cortisol), all these cause your body to retain water.

So you lose fat and water in the first little while then you stall on the scale as you retain water in the fat cells the after you empty the fat cell completely and don't require so many fat cell the body. Will empty the water out of the cell and whoosh a sudden drop in weight. then a stall... inches off then a whoosh then a stall - some of the other ladies who have kept track will have graphs that show this to have happened to them. So don't panic it's working it all didn't go on in a weekend ( sure feels like it sometimes tho )

JadziaSnax · 16/10/2018 05:18

Thanks Starsky. I've only been doing this for 2 weeks so far. Here's to a decent weight loss.

JumpingIntoLCHF · 16/10/2018 05:23

Just spotted the new boot camp and would like to join in. Will weigh myself when I get up. Really benefited from this previously and now need to get back on it.

Destinysdaughter · 16/10/2018 05:55

Just popping into thread to say good luck everyone. I did this earlier in the year, was 11stone 12 in Jan, am now 9stone 7. It really does work if you stick at it! 😀
