Welcome everyone. We have over 150 people signed up this time, so it's going to be pretty busy, and the initial chat thread is going to be very fast-moving!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to post your starting weight.

Remember, you don't have to input your actual weight if you don't want to - you can index it, which means starting at 100 and then for every pound you lose, you take off a point.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add your name to the bottom, and then the lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready will re-alphabetise the list.

If you're on the spreadsheet and you don't want to be, don't worry - just don't enter any info, and then you'll be deleted after the first couple of weeks.

You could always gratefully accept and take into the office or something @mumofapickle?

banano · 18/10/2018 10:26

MumofaPickle well done for sending that text! I find that where people are "feeders" and despite being asked not to insist on arriving with chocolates, cakes, biscuits, Easter Eggs etc, I either take them into work the next day and leave them open in the office kitchen (they're usually gone by 10am) or if they are in sealed packets I pop them into the nearest food back drop off box - most supermarkets have them so it's super easy to do.

WheelyCote · 18/10/2018 10:30

Mucho grassias Mumofapickle😋** i will be trying this out

Chester it's a different way of eating and with anything new it takes time to get to grips. You can do this. My two are now used to me turning down food and I don't fancy eating choc or sweet things now so when I turn food down I generally say the truth...thankyou I'm not feeling it at the minute. Eating out os easier than you think and you don't have to go into the lowcarb eating with people. You just say your not feeling potatoes at the minute or your cutting out sugary food on the run up to Christmas .....I've found people understanding of this.

WheelyCote · 18/10/2018 10:41

Laska big hugs💗 what fish do you put in your fish pie?

Welcome RedA

I'm sighing with you Finallyhere haha your mums lentil and ham bone Dahl sounds yum lol

My cold is finally lifting😷 and I can hear out of my left ear now. My right one is still feels stuffed with cotton wool.
B: celery, Philadelphia and 1/4 tin of tuna (randomly) coffee and cream
L: not sure yet
D: will be making the cauliflower curry😋😋

Tomorrow I'm making mums the chicken and mushroom soup😋

Laska5772 · 18/10/2018 10:50

wheelycote I usually use a mixture of fish. I got a pack of frozen fish pie mix from waitrose the otherday (I'm sure other supermarkets would do one) , it has a mix of whitefish , salmon and smoked fish , but i often to add a few prawns also)..

I've not made a LC one before so was thinking of using this recipe (but I bet there is one on the Bootcamp recipe threads also -i've not looked )

RosalieAlys · 18/10/2018 11:16

I miss fruit so much. I thought it would be chocolate and sweets but I’m craving an 🍎 or 🍊

prettybird · 18/10/2018 11:50

My favourite mash to top shepherds pie is a mix of cauliflower and neeps (and celeriac if I have some memo to self, put it back on the shopping list now it's autumn again ) cooked and blitzed in the food processor with an egg, some Parmesan, some butter (if the veg are still hot) and some cream or FF Greek yoghurt.

It would work on top of a fish pie too.

TightPants · 18/10/2018 11:52

I’m finding the same @Rosalie! And I was never a big fruit eater.

@BIWI and @Athelstace thanks for the advice. I must say I’m finding this much easier than I’d anticipated and am enjoying it so far!

Is it possible that my work uniform feels very slightly loser? Shock - or maybe it’s just the lack of carb bloating that used to give me a belly like a space hopper by the afternoon Grin
Who knows, weigh in on Monday.

ilovecherries · 18/10/2018 11:58

I’m away at a conference for a few days, but food going ok. I usually miss breakfast (been doing this a long time) but given the type of lunch that’s on offer, I decided I was better to stoke up at breakfast time and then go out for a walk at lunch, and go back in time to be sociable/network over coffee before the afternoon session. Dinner will be ok - plenty steak and fish on offer, and I will swap out carbs for extra veggies and cheese if I’m still hungry. There is a steady stream of carbs on offer though. Groaning bread and pastry baskets at breakfast, along with all the usual breakfast cereals (I had bacon, two fried eggs and asked for some spinach, which surprised them, but to be fair, they did produce some very quickly). Then Danish pastries with morning coffee, and sweets and cordials on all the tables. Lunch looks to be a range of breaded and pastried finger food and more puddings. We are apparently promised scones with afternoon tea. Chocolates and fruit in the bedroom. It’s funny how your perspective changes, I wouldn’t even have noticed that a couple of years ago.

bibliomania · 18/10/2018 12:16

Lovely aubergine and mozzarella bake last night. Lamb meatballs and salad tonight. Enjoying all these good dinners!

Peaches2018 · 18/10/2018 12:35

Hello to everyone I hope that we're all doing great!!
I've had a nice brunch yesterday of eggs cheese and olives on the side yesterday & dinner was broccoli, mushrooms & a cheesey kind of sauce (baby didn't want to settle so not much time)

BUT I woke up today and I'm not hungry!!!!! Is this normal Normally I can eat everything in sight but today: not hungry whatsoever and the same for yesterday evening!!

This morning was eggs
Lunch will be salad with cheese
Dinner baked chicken and some veggies

Can we have coconut milk (full fat no sugar) because double cream isn't doing it for me

Itchyknees · 18/10/2018 12:56

3 days late but back on the locarb bus!

Hello all!

prettybird · 18/10/2018 13:09

Re the peeing for Britain/wherever you live and/or waking in the night to go for a pee: I like to think of it as "peeing the fat out" BlushGrin

It helps encourage me to drink plenty of water Grin

bluelefant · 18/10/2018 13:10

Hi everyone.
Breakfast was eggs
Lunch turkey meatballs with melted butter and cheese on top with a side of lettuce and 3 cherry tomatoes
Dinner will be yesterday's fish pie
Hubby cooked dinner and it was delicious.
We are in it together with my husband who has a lot more to lose but I could not possibly convince him do join Mumsnet
We are trying to cook double and save for the next day as he says he is fed up with all the cooking.

MumOfAPickle · 18/10/2018 13:11

Thanks for your support rshard and banano. Frustrating but there we are. Friend is lovely but can’t see why people can’t control their weight in the same way that she does Hmm

So, new plan is to take a small pot of yog with cinnamon and a splash of double cream as this is my go to evening snack and I’ll be eating quite early so I’ll be ready for something with my cup of tea and to put anything she’s bought me in my bag and out or sight to take home for the children Grin

BIWI · 18/10/2018 13:29

Sorry to hear that @Laska5772 Flowers

Had a good day yesterday - it's a bit of Russian roulette at the moment, as DH has taken over the cooking (he's 'resting' between contracts right now) and despite the fact I've been low carbing for a long time now, he still doesn't quite get it!

B - Total 5% Greek yoghurt with extra thick double cream and vanilla extract

L - salmon fillet, cooked in the microwave at work, with spinach cooked in butter

D - pork fillet stuffed with sage and Stilton, with braised red cabbage. (There was a bit of apple in the red cabbage but I managed to avoid most of that!)

To day will be the same breakfast and lunch, and he's making bolognese this evening, so I'll either have mine with just cheese on top, or I might have it with the konjac noodles. (Branded Bare Naked Noodles from Sainsbury's)

OP posts:
BIWI · 18/10/2018 13:31

Which reminds me - @MumOfAPickle - it's the konjac noodles you're looking for, not the Oomi ones.

You can buy them from Asian supermarkets (they're Japanese and called shirataki noodles), or as I posted upthread, Sainsbury's sell them under the Bare Naked Noodles brand name.

StuntNun · 18/10/2018 14:00

I sympathise BIWI my DH is exactly the same. One day last week we had rogan josh with steamed broccoli - not exactly a match made in heaven! And he used chicken breast as well so the fat content was far too low. We've only been doing this for five years!

FinallyHere · 18/10/2018 14:09

@WheelyCote 😆

Lost5stone · 18/10/2018 14:44

@MrsCoyote Just thought I would say I was just doing baking with DD and noticed the Aldi cocoa powder is only 8.9g per 100g so if you're still doing that I'd swap.

Going OK over here, but last 2 days of my cycle which is the worst so temptation is strong and scales are going up a tiny bit.

B: Coffee
L: Roasted tomato soup (pinterested recipes for low carb soup and this came up so just made it without thinking that tomatoes are in the orange zone!)
D: Chicken stir fry

Rainbowturkey · 18/10/2018 14:45

Scrambled egg for breakfast, chicken curry with cauliflower rice for lunch. I’m struggling drink as much water as I need too.

Butterfly44 · 18/10/2018 15:17

Have had Bare Naked Noodles before...def a rubber texture. Takes some getting used to.😬 They also do rice.

Feeling snackish and having lettuce with cream cheese...,,

EwanHoozami · 18/10/2018 17:24

Those konjac / shiritaki noodles are ok if you rinse the bejesus out of them and then dry-fry them to get some of the water content out. Much less elastic band-like that way.

Peaches2018 · 18/10/2018 17:35

I'm struggling with the water as well @Rainbowturkey so if anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them I'm often a litre short
Had a snack (cucumber and egg) and such a great walk with hubs and baby boy Still lots of energy and not hungry at all only missing fruit a bit

Justmuddlingalong · 18/10/2018 17:39

I leave a glass on the draining board and every time I'm at the sink, I down a full glass of water.
