Welcome everyone. We have over 150 people signed up this time, so it's going to be pretty busy, and the initial chat thread is going to be very fast-moving!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to post your starting weight.

Remember, you don't have to input your actual weight if you don't want to - you can index it, which means starting at 100 and then for every pound you lose, you take off a point.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add your name to the bottom, and then the lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready will re-alphabetise the list.

If you're on the spreadsheet and you don't want to be, don't worry - just don't enter any info, and then you'll be deleted after the first couple of weeks.

Sorry - wrong thread Blush

starsky22 · 16/10/2018 22:08

bluehaze talking of rewards reminds me that on the previous bootcamps I did last year, I promised myself non-food rewards for getting to certain targets, so I got a new pair of sunglasses for getting to my pre-pregnancy weight, a new handbag when I'd lost 2 stone and a beauty advent calendar for getting to my final target. I would definitely recommend it as a good alternative if you usually reward yourself with food!

tootstastic · 16/10/2018 22:12

Great Day 2....but drank so much water my wee is clearer than my glass of water! 😬

Thanks Athelstane. I had water with lemon - glad to have made it through. It was easier than I expected !

Spiderkitty · 16/10/2018 22:48

Much better, thank you batshittery. I think you're right about not rinsing them enough, and in the past I think I have given them a quick boil before adding them to a stir fry, but this time I just followed the instructions and heated them in a frying pan!

I had a look at the ingredients of oomi noodles Kokoloco and they aren't made of konjac, so I don't think you'll have the same issue Smile noodles made from fish sound interesting! I wonder what they taste like?

Wildheartsease · 16/10/2018 23:46

Teh Oomi noodles are very tasty (according to my son) but they are not carb free. They are a bit high for bootcamp ( a 6 per 100)

MumOfAPickle · 16/10/2018 23:53

Another good day here.
B: egg muffins
L: chicken & mushroom soup
D: tuna steak with samphire and broccoli
S: chicken wings and some natural yog with cream this evening.

Interesting to hear about these low carb noodles, I’ve never tried them - how low carb are they?

I’m tracking on my Fitbit app and it doesn’t seem to fussed about my calories being under Grin Can anyone tell me the macros I should be aiming for please?

Keep going everyone, you’re doing great 👍

ItsalmostSummer · 17/10/2018 02:26

I’ve had a good couple of days too ! Remembering to drink water and having a couple of eggs when I get home from work helps me to keep on plan.
I have enjoyed reading all the updates and food plans from you all. Thanks for the ideas.

blackteaplease · 17/10/2018 06:30

Morning all, I have two testing days coming up doing site visits. I've started the day with buttery scrambled eggs and should be ok for food but the lack of toilet facilities always results in too little water intake.

Rshard · 17/10/2018 06:57

Early morning swim run with dd today, bonus is that I’ve already drank nearly a litre of water.

Here’s to day 3!

ClashCityRocker · 17/10/2018 07:23

Morning all!

Another one peeing for England here.

Can I ask, what's the best low carb yoghurt? I know I want full fat but some of them seem quite carby.

Lost5stone · 17/10/2018 07:27

starsky22 that's exactly what I did at the start of my weight loss journey. Little rewards like makeup when I hit milestones. Worked a treat and now I'm just allowing myself one more when I hit my target.

Im another who only drinks out of a bottle. I just can't manage a glass but as long as it's reusable I think that's ok. Worth trying if you are struggling with your water target.

I also have the working from home issue, although the office says aren't that easy either as my boss fills the cupboards and fridge with cereal, fizzy drinks, biscuits, chocolate and crisps!

BIWI · 17/10/2018 07:34

@Doilooklikeatourist

No need to guess about your veg! Go to the spreadsheet and look at the tabs at the bottom - there's a veg counter there.

@kokoloco the oomi noodles aren't the same as the konjac ones, and when I've looked at them before I've rejected them as the carb count is too high. It could be that it's the fibre content that has upset some? They are very high in fibre.

@mumofapickle - they're virtually zero carbs and zero calories, which makes them a great food for this WOE! If you have a look at the recipe threads there's at least one recipe that uses them. I make stir fries with them, or my own version of a Vietnamese pho/soup, and they work really well in those dishes. (I also sometimes use them with bolognese or other pasta sauces, but they aren't quite so successful for me - it's clear that it's not pasta!)

Yesterday was a bit of a mixed day for me - good on the food front but not on the wine front Blush we had a dinner out that was planned a while ago.

B - yoghurt with cream and vanilla
L - home-made curried cauliflower soup (was yum - will post the recipe later) and a lump of mature cheddar to follow
D - starter: burrata with capers, shallots and tomatoes
main: seared breast of chicken (with skin) on a bed of Swiss chard, with jus. (It came with truffled potatoes which I asked to be substituted for green beans with garlic)

... and 2 litres of water

@Mumofapickle - we don't aim for any particular macros, other than it should be high fat, medium protein and low carb.

Just follow the Bootcamp rules and you'll be fine. The whole point of Bootcamp is to make it easy to follow, so you don't have to weigh or count anything!

BIWI · 17/10/2018 07:38

@ClashCityRocker yes you have to be very careful with yoghurt as some of them are really quite high in carbs.

Total 5% is good (although I'm a bit Hmm that they've stopped selling their higher fat content variant), but I 'dilute' mine with extra thick double cream so there are fewer carbs overall and more fat.

If you have a large Sainsbury's near you, look out for their Taste the Difference Greek Yoghurt - it's lovely and higher fat/lower carb too.

Thanks BIWI I am near a sainsbury at work so will pick some up.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 17/10/2018 07:56

BIWI!!! Shock I'm telling... telling... oh. Bad BIWI Sad

Noticeably flatter stomach for me this morning, and having been 2 lbs up on Tuesday, and now back down 3 lbs, so 1 lb down in total from Monday. Lovely solid sleep but somewhat swollen face this morning, who knows why.

On previous bootcamps I'd usually be dashing off to update graphs etc (as a daily weigher), but actually, this last period of maintenance seems to have softened my attitude a bit, which is a surprise to me. I found I wasn't fussed about fluctuations as long as I stayed 'around' the 9 stone mark - as soon as I hit 9st 4lbs (almost 9.5st!) I'd rein it in again, almost as a routine rather than a watchful diet, iyswim. So this bootcamp I'm quite laid back about daily ups and downs, because it's all heading downwards over time.

prettybird · 17/10/2018 09:07

The Lidl full fat Greek yoghurt is 10% fat and only 3.2g carbs Smile

added benefit of being cheap Wink

boldlygoingsomewhere · 17/10/2018 09:23

I’m also very annoyed at the change Total made to their yoghurt! It’s not as nice and filling anymore. I’ve been trying to find an alternative...

bibliomania · 17/10/2018 09:30

bluelefant, you asked last night about the cauliflower pilau "rice". This is adapted slightly from Pete Evans' "Family Food" cookbook (paleo). Incidentally, my local library is good for a browse for low carb/paleo/gluten free recipes, and it's where I got the Pete Evans book.

Heat coconut oil. Fry prawns (just stick the frozen ones in - no defrosting needed) with shallots and garlic. Beat up two eggs with a dash of fish sauce (if you like the funkiness - I do). Mix into the pan. Add cauliflower rice and stir until everything has softened and the egg has coated the other ingredients. Add fresh ginger, a dash of tamari (had none to hand last night so used soy sauce, which isn't carb free). Add fresh coriander, spring onion and bean sprouts and stir till softened. Finish with a dash of fish sauce/tamari/fresh lime juice.

I intended to keep half for today's lunch but it was too good and I ate the lot. Portion control remains a bit of an issue.

Laska5772 · 17/10/2018 09:31

Waitrose and Coop also do 10% Greek yoghurt under their own label now.

I was surprised that even in Greece Total yog was 5%.. I thought it may just be 'pandering' to UK taste thing.. but when we were there earlier this year ,i just had the locally made stuff.. super-yummy and much creamier .

I find that ordinary cream can make me feel a bit sick, but if I substitute full fat Creme Fraiche im not . it must be the culture ..last BC i got into making kefir, with f/f milk , that's lapsed a bit , so I must get back into that now..

Im just eating a tin of tuna with mayo for breakfast ! ( weird or what? ) but it seems that all of the eggs in this house have gone missing ... Hmm

bibliomania · 17/10/2018 09:39

Mushrooms and spring onions fried in butter for breakfast, with 2 eggs mixed in, along with coffee and cream. Feeling strong for the day!

maybeitsbecauseim · 17/10/2018 10:10

Thank you for the snack tips!
So now on my potential snack list I have olives, yoghurt, cheese on cucumbers, lettuce leaves (may be with a LC dip?), pork scratching and baby bell. (I don’t actually like baby bell that much but that might be helpful in that I won’t eat many!)

Rshard · 17/10/2018 10:11

I have the Waitrose own brand Greek yoghurt. It’s really nice, I find it a bit rich on its own especially first thing in the morning so looking forward to being able to sling a few raspberries in in a couple of weeks. The vanilla powder is a good addition at the minute though
