Good morning all, for the final Monday of this Bootcamp.

Here's the spreadsheet for its last outing!

I hope very much that the last ten weeks have been successful for everyone - whether that's on the scales, seeing your clothes fit better, better health and general enjoyment of your food!

I'll keep this chat thread going, and when it's full, will start another one until we start the next Bootcamp, which will start in mid-October.

Qumquat you've had your binge, what else can you do to comfort yourself? I have some posh tea bags that I save for a treat, or is there anything you can do to relax, even while you're at school? No more carbs for you today - if you really feel you need a binge then go for cheese or pork scratchings or something else low carb.

qumquat step away from the cornflakes. Think of boring they taste and how you could have yummy bacon instead!

Twoo · 02/08/2018 08:02

Qumquat. It really is a great informative book. Everything makes more sense now. I especially appreciated what was written about calories in/out and how they do matter. Everyone keeps telling me you don’t count calories wtwoe, but some people due to insulin resistance needs to watch their protein & dairy intake too. If I watch my portion control, not too much protein or dairy I can still lose slowly. My gastric system isn’t as efficient as some people’s sadly.

I hope you got back on the wagon. Have a big glut of water and couple of boiled eggs and butter to satiate yourself and hopefully the carb cravings will go away.

Not being nosey, more of a ask yourself thing .... has something upset you for you to be emotionally eating. Cornflakes will only make you feel guilty and won’t heal your hurt 😔 Good luck for the rest of the day.

Just got back from 3 weeks away and have gained 0.25lb. I reckon though that I lost a fair bit in the first week and a half as I was sticking to plan and doing a lot of physical graft, trying to prepare the house and garden for our guests arriving for the last week.
The last 9 days of the holiday didn't go so well diet wise, but we had a brilliant time with our friends so I'm accepting the consequences and pleased that I haven't gained that much since my last weigh in.
Back on it again, perhaps with a little IF thrown in for good measure.
Great to see everyone's successes, well done all, it went so fast - looking forward to joining in again next time! Thank you @BIWI and the team, good luck with the book!

BIWI · 02/08/2018 09:08

@Qumquat I'm getting my big stick out of the cupboard just for you!

PUT DOWN THE CORNFLAKES!

Why are you bingeing like this - what has triggered you? Can you swerve into something else comforting and indulgent that isn't food? A nice long, hot bath? A lovely walk in the sunshine? An afternoon kip?

Can you get yourself out of the house so you are away from temptation?

I know you're going into work to get out, but is this going to make you feel better?!

Good luck - I know it's tough when emotions get the better of us Flowers

PS am currently in China. I have no idea if it's sunny where you are right now - if it's raining then a nice long walk might not be so indulgent Grin

twoo that book sounds interesting, I've downloaded a sample to my kindle.

waswitty you've done well coming back from a 3 week holiday with that miniscule gain.

Enjoy China BIWI you do a lot of traveling!

I'm doing well back on this woe. Carb flu isn't the worst and I've had a good whoosh of the pounds I piled on while off plan which is lovely to see.
I'm feeling quiet positive that taking a break for a short while is something I'll be able to manage through out the year and still be able to get back on track after.

BIWI · 02/08/2018 12:06

I do a lot of travelling, but ironically I rarely get to see anything! It usually goes like this:

Airport -> taxi to hotel -> taxi to research facility -> taxi back to hotel -> go to bed. Next day, taxi to research facility -> taxi back to hotel -> go to bed. Rinse and repeat!

Today I finished earlier than I expected (back to the hotel at c. 2pm), so though tI might either go for a walk and/or go and sit round the swimming pool (outdoor). Except for the fact that a tropical storm has blown in and it's now torrential rain!

Always sounds a lot more interesting than it is, really.

Forgive me BIWI for I have sinned. I was down to 9st 8lb, only 1lb from target, before I went away. I arrived back after eating and drinking with gay abandon 8 lbs up. ShockBlush However, after getting home on Sunday I was back on it first thing Monday morning and have since dropped 4lbs, so another 4lbs to target again. But...my god, if gaining weight doesn't deter me from scoffing carbs in future, the thought of going through carb flu again just might. Holy shit, I feel horrendous. 🤢

bettyblueeyes83 · 02/08/2018 12:59

Have just realised I never did my final weigh-in as was away, but I lost just shy of a stone overall. Had a slight regain after a carby weekend but back on it now. Thanks again BIWI and will be keeping on now.

BIWI · 02/08/2018 14:10

Well done both of you for getting back on the wagon though Smile Flowers

BIWI · 02/08/2018 14:10

Well my week in China has been a disaster on the food front. Every single meal has been carby. And no other choices - food presented to me. I feel like a barrel.

That’s a great post holiday result waswitty

Well done just and betty for getting back on it!

Slinking back in shamefacedly... Thank you so much for all of your comments. Sadly I did go to the shop and avoided this thread all day in shame. I also found a box of Chocs had been left on my desk by a student on the last day so that went in too....

It's interesting to analyse what prompted the binge. Partly resentment at a friend who I felt took advantage of my goodwill yesterday, which led to me feeling exhausted, which is also a binge trigger. But more significantly I was back in my flat after two weeks away and staying with xp (complicated situation!). I forgot to buy the right ingredients for tea or breakfast and tea (the drink) at my flat is revolting so my main source of comfort is out. The flat is such a tip and I don't know if it's a long term home or not so if it's worth my effort to make it nicer. So I guess all that was weighing on my mind!

On the plus side I got a lot of sorting done at work in amongst the eating. I was also able to have a decent cup of tea.

Waswittyonce · 02/08/2018 21:17

Thanks @Lonesurvivor and @Rshard Smile

Twoo · 02/08/2018 21:49

LoneSurvivor it really is worth a read. It contains all the theory about twoe which was first established way back in 1862. We have Mr William Banting, Dr William Harvey & Dr Wilhelmina Ebstein to thank for setting out the original LCHF protocols.

The book also details ‘red’, ‘orange’ and ‘green’ food lists compromising of foods that you can mainly eat, occasionally eat and not eat. Also has some good recipes.

qumquat · 02/08/2018 22:19

Been battling nausea tonight but managed not to besick. If nothing else today has reminded me what the bad old days were like! Will try to get back on the wagon tomorrow. I don't have anything in for breakfast really but I suspect hot water will be all I want as I'll still be feeling sick. Thanks for all the supportive messages which I ignored because I preferred to self destruct! They are still very much appreciated.

LeapinLizards · 03/08/2018 08:15

Sorry to read about yesterday @qumquat. Hope today is better for you. How are you feeling this morning?

Rshard · 03/08/2018 08:57

Another one hoping you feel a little better today qumquat

Laska5772 · 03/08/2018 09:03

I'm so annoyed.. that 2lb on has stayed on all week! Angry..

I know ill drink some wine this this evening and tomorrow because of things we have planned .but ill stay otherwise on track... , but from Sunday I am going back to two weeks hardcore .

its no good it may only be 2lbs but know what I am like .. if I dont do it now . that will be the start of the slippery slope .. Ive lost 2 st since January and i want to lose another one yet.

so I'm putting this here now and ill be checking back in on Sunday .

Laska5772 · 03/08/2018 09:04

I've just had 2 buttery eggs for breakfast ..
and will be chugging the water again today (ive let that slip a bit)

bobow · 03/08/2018 09:08

I started boot camp a bit late so today is my 10 week weigh in and I've lost 15lb! Very happy, I've lost 23lbs since autumn.
Only down side is no one has noticed. I've caught up with a few friends this week and nothing has been said. I'm trying to keep positive and have decided they just didn't notice how big I'd got. In fairness I haven't had to change my wardrobe yet, thing just fit a lot better, or are getting a bit loose. I reckon I'm about 7-10lbs away from properly dropping a size.
I'm away for the next 2 weeks and determined to stay on track. First week we are self catering so should be able to stay on track. Second week we're at PILs which is always a nightmare food wise. MIL is a terrible cook and it's often a case of trying to find anything edible. We normally live on snacky stuff whilst there, so will have to work out how to manage that. Also don't want to tell her about this WOE, so have to figure out how to do it without being noticed!

StuntNun · 03/08/2018 09:15

I'm sorry to hear you lost the battle yesterday Qumquat but you will win the war. Well done for coming back to us today - you're only one meal away from being back on track.

Stay strong Laska and remember we've got your back.

Bobow I suspect often people just don't know what to say when someone has lost weight. It's hard to give a graceful compliment without sounding like you're being critical of them being heavier in the past.

Laska5772 · 03/08/2018 09:19

Thanks, I really do need to stay accountable stuntnun

Im not sure if i can tomorrow ( lots going on with visitors around ) but i am going to get back to posting every day from Sunday on ..
