BIWI · 23/07/2018 07:42

Good morning all, for the final Monday of this Bootcamp.

Here's the spreadsheet for its last outing!

I hope very much that the last ten weeks have been successful for everyone - whether that's on the scales, seeing your clothes fit better, better health and general enjoyment of your food!

I'll keep this chat thread going, and when it's full, will start another one until we start the next Bootcamp, which will start in mid-October.

You can do it laska, keep posting on here.

That’s great bowow

3stonedown · 03/08/2018 10:58

bobow There is absolutely a case of people feeling embarrassed top mention. I've lost 4.5 stone so very obvious, and I saw a man I haven't seen in a year a couple of weeks ago. He kind of took a double look at me and awkwardly said there's something different about you. Me being me made him squirm a bit and said "ohh I cut my hair!" Grin.

Mightybanhammer · 03/08/2018 17:41

I haven't participated on the threads much but I have lost an amazing 24 pounds and am thrilled.
Kept paying attention to portion size plus plenty of exercise. Lots fish and protein and lots of fresh veg, with some fruit reintroduced ( made no difference to weight loss when I did that)

I'm a huge foodie ( metaphorically now rather than literally!) so this eating plan really works for me and clearly suits my body too.

Still a way to go before ideal weight but I am keeping on with it!

BIWI · 03/08/2018 18:40

That's great to hear @Mightybanhammer!

same weight this morning still 2lbs up 160again sad] ( im just putting it here to be accountable) .

I messed up yesterday by rushing about and not planning.. grabbed a Taiko SummerRoll on the run .. I knew the wrap was a rice pancake but didn't realise that amongst all the lovely prawn and veg filling were more rice noodles hidden and of course it had sugar in ( i didn't eat the sauce which came with it though)

Over 18carbs. What was i thinking of? ..

qumquat · 04/08/2018 10:09

Thanks everyone for your kind messages. I'm back on track although went a bit ott yesterday and tried to do 16:8 fasting. Cue hunger attack at midnight! Back to a sensible three meals today. I feel so much better most of the time but I'm still fundamentally a person with an eating disorder so I need to be sensible.

LeapinLizards · 04/08/2018 11:42

Brilliant loss @mightybanhammer! @Laska5772, if it makes you feel better, I'm still paying the price for my carbs last Sunday. It takes a lot longer to come off than it does to go on, that's for sure. I am hoping for downwards movement next week cos I'm on holiday the week after & will be staying with friends for some of it so not much control over carb intake. I am thinking about an egg fast over the next few days to get weight down - the prospect of staying the same then going up further on my holidays is making me a bit worried.

@qumquat glad things on a more even keel. Well done on getting back on track. Smile

Funeral yesterday went ok. It was good to catch up with old colleagues from over 30 years ago (ShockBlush)

One of them came with an album he has been keeping, tracking ICI Propafilm from when he started working with them back in the early 80s up until now (as pensioners/the company that took them over), which brought back lots of memories. These was a picture of me at a "Fun Games" for the Welwyn site back in 1985 (not long after I joined as a greasy are recruit and when I filled a silence got conned into volunteering to organising them): looking skinny in grey track suit bottoms and my Uni sweatshirt - and permed blond hair Grin

There was also a picture of fat me two years in the the group picture from a reunion 2 years ago. Blush Let's just say I'm a different shape now, closer to the 30 years ago shape Grin

There were lots of pictures of the guy whose funeral it was, which were lovely to see. Brought back happy memories. Smile

(posted too soonBlush)

Managed to stay pretty much on HFLC track: my friend who we stayed with on Thursday night did a raclette for supper. I was able to avoid all the potatoes and had the cheese over baby sweet corn (which works really well) or gherkins or on its own. Also had her cucumber salad and tomato salad. I did have two scoops of icecream and a small Belgian waffle for dessert though Blush

At the wake, I avoided the cupcakes and fruit cake and only had a couple of sandwiches which I left the crusts off and took off the top piece of bread. I "filled up" on pepperami which I had taken with me for the trip and also some butter and clotted cream that dh had as part if his M&S cream tea before we went to the crematorium (as we'd got there in plenty of time).

prettybird · 04/08/2018 15:29

Laska - don't despair. Sometimes after you've lost a couple of stone, your body kind of "sticks" and has to get used to that weight, with a +/- variations of a couple of pounds before the scales move downwards again.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it Wink

KOKO and you will see the downward trajectory again Smile

wentmadinthecountry · 05/08/2018 02:58

I went out for a lovely meal at a friend's house today and ate lots of wrong stuff - hadn't seen people for ages and when she messaged about food it was before my last 10 days of low carb. She'd gone to a monstrous amount of trouble. So I didn't drink, had no bread and enjoyed a lovely evening. Party tomorrow but buffet so fine, and I think I'll fast on Monday.
I'm in this for the long haul and lovely friend's delicious dinner she'd really worked on won.

I'll get there.

ajandjjmum · 05/08/2018 09:42

I had a couple of 'naughty' days this week. I knew I would and was not beating myself up.

I'm still fluctuating up and down 3 lbs, although oddly enough saw my best weight yet (although only by a pound) a couple of days after I'd gone out for dinner (and had pudding!)

Serious week this week KOKO!

Laska5772 · 05/08/2018 20:38

Checking in ... the weekend has been good, Ihaven massively gone off plan (apart from some fruit) but I have eaten a lot (pretty muchallgood LC stuff and plenty of veggies , but really I have just eaten far too much) and had Wine

WI tomorrow and then Im on it properly again

3stonedown · 06/08/2018 08:20

Right posting on here because I need to be accountable. I've gained 1lb since bootcamp ended and I've been bobbing up and down around that. I've fallen into a really bad place with eating, skipping meals and going hungry then going on a binge (not a binge like I would have done last year, but the odd chocolate bar or slice of toast). Seriously slowed up on the exercise. I'm not sure why I've been doing it but it needs to stop.

ilovecherries · 06/08/2018 08:21

Stayed the same, but have kept my two pound whoosh from a couple of weeks ago, so still 11.2.

I am just being thankful (yet again!) for the common sense, clarity, simplicity and rigour that BiWI and stuntnun bring to this. I joined a couple of low carb FB groups recently and I’m going to have to leave them because the utter nonsense that is talked on them is giving me the rage.

ilovecherries · 06/08/2018 08:25

3stone, how can we best help you? Would posting your food for a bit help? Or do you want a kick up the bum? Either way, I think recognising you are having some difficulty as early as you have is good, rather than getting the fuck-its.

3stonedown · 06/08/2018 08:42

Thanks cherries I need a kick up the bum please. BIWI a big stick wouldn't go a miss. I know what I should be eating and drinking, I'm just not doing it Blush

I think the heat isn't helping. I am doing a 10k in Sept so I need to run but it's so bloody hot. I've gone from 4 runs a week to 2 at a push. Still that doesn't mean I need to eat crap and not exercise at home.

Laska5772 · 06/08/2018 08:48

Well Ii dont know what got into me yesterday ( apart from being a total and utter idiot). As for some reason I pretty much ate the fridge, and its been so long since I have done that.. it was mainly left over sausages Low/ carb ones (but still about 6!), cheese and fruit (cherries and peach) and Wine

But I'm drawing a line under it ..

Weight was a 4lbs up this morning!! ( making 6lbs up all told!)... so I am back to 163 ! (yes I am a total idiot) Am hoping though that some of that is 'temporary' IFYSWIM.

Laska5772 · 06/08/2018 08:50

I pitched headfirst into the fridge late in the evening ..Angry

ilovecherries · 06/08/2018 09:22

laska, what happened? It will come off, it won’t be fat overnight, so back on the wagon and lots of water today. Have you got a strategy that interrupts doing that again? I find if I can force a pause/moment of reflection/loud scream/ etc into that space then I don’t do it.

qumquat · 06/08/2018 09:29

It seems so many of us are slipping and sliding at moment. I think August is a hard time of year to stick to routines, even though we know we feel better for them.

My resolutions are to go back to only weighing once a week as a 'bad' weight midweek was sending me to the fridge. Also like ilove I'm unfollowing a few groups on FB which aren't good for me. Pushing too much intermittent fasting and extreme measures which I know make everything worse for me.

KOKO everyone!

Rshard · 06/08/2018 09:38

I can relate to running in the heat 3stone, I’ve been running during dd’s early morning swims but she’s in summer break now. I might still set my alarm tbh, the temperature has been lovely at 5.30 ish.

I did have some carbs over the weekend but planned and back on it today, focussing in my holiday now.

Flowers to all who need them

Laska5772 · 06/08/2018 09:44

cherries I hope its not real weight.4lbs on overnight was a bit of a shock this morning..

Its really silly I know but It I think it was down to cat stress mainly .. he just follows me around all the time because we have had to change his feeding times to go with his medication ,and i cant go into the kitchen without tripping over him .. so instead of preparing a proper dinner I grabbed the foil package of left over sausages and the cheese box out of the fridge .. and took it ff to my desk ,.. and that was it ..

We only had left over sossies because I thought it would be a good idea to cook them whilst the bbq was still hot from coking our fish the night before.. but apart from 3 (out of a packet of 9 Heck ones) that DH had in a sandwich to take back with him for the journey ( he works away all week) .I ate the lot all in one go and then followed it a bit later by cheese and fruit and wine .. .. ( the plan was for me to have have 3 then save the rest for today and tomorrow. Lesson learned? .. Hmm

boldlygoingsomewhere · 06/08/2018 09:45

I definitely don’t think the heat helps and it’s also traditional holiday season so routines become disrupted.

I’m at the 3/4 week stage of BC so in stall mode. My treat to myself at the moment is to have a nice tea sitting in the garden (in shade!) or some time playing my flute. I’m trying to get out of the mindset of always having food to ‘celebrate’ or to ‘treat myself’.

3stonedown · 06/08/2018 09:53

Rshard I brought a running buggy yesterday so I'm hoping to take DD out with me as soon as she wakes up before it gets too hot, not sure we will make 5.30am though! I've never buggy ran before though and understand it is harder so might have to ease myself into it.

laska Sausages are to devils food for me, I can't keep them in the fridge or I will eat them all in one go too
