Morning all!

Hopefully last week's wobble with the spreadsheet has been overcome:

Here it is

And hope there aren't too many wobbles on the LCHF front either!

It's an absolutely gorgeous day here, and seems like all of this week is going to be glorious. (Well, Darn Sarf it is anyway!)

I hope that you all have a good day food-wise too. Somehow it always seems easier when it's salad/barbecue weather, to stay on the low carb track.

Good look and here's to another successful week Flowers

Good luck with the move athelstane

Interesting about the electrolyte tablets - which ones do you all recommend - and where's best to get them from?

Lonesurvivor · 29/06/2018 17:08

Very interesting about the electrolyte tabs. I keep meaning to look in Lidl and forget but I'm in Ireland so not sure they'd always have the same lines.

Is salt and lemon juice as good or would electrolyte tabs be more effective?

oldbirdy · 29/06/2018 17:14

I grew up in Kenya and we used to have to lick salt off the back of our hands. We were always told that if salt tastes nice your body needs it; if it tastes yuk then shake it off as your body has enough. This from my dad who was raised in Africa. No idea if it's an old wives' tale or research based or anything but he has a lot of "folk knowledge" which has ended up being shown to be based in fact (for example he has always said that children need to be dirty and if you clean too much it's bad for the immune system. He never minded us sampling the soil in the garden 😱. Now proved correct of course.)

prettybird · 29/06/2018 17:20

That would explain my mum's approach when she and my dad were cycling in Greece. She often talked of licking salt when it was really hot - and she spent some of her teenage years in Kenya.

prettybird · 29/06/2018 17:23

Lonesurvivor - I seem to be doing ok on my pints of water with a few shakes of Lo-salt and a generous squoosh of lemon juice Grin

With this heat and subsequent sweating I've doubled the frequency with which I add the extras to my water: used to be 1-2 times a day, now 2-4 times a day depending on the colour of my pee Blush

Lonesurvivor · 29/06/2018 17:31

oldbirdy I just licked the back of my hand as I misread your postConfusedGrin it tasted salty, I wonder what does that meanSmile
I'll try it the right way when I can get the energy to move. No wonder my hand tasted salty this heat is a killer.
prettybird I had been adding a bit of Himalayan salt once a day and lots of lemon juice. I just don't know should I be with having blood pressure issues but I think low salt should be ok and I've drastically reduced my salt consumption to almost zero anyway by default of this s
Woe. I think I'll try it.

Gammeldragz · 29/06/2018 17:31

The electrolyte tablets (a mentioned before, I get the Zero ones from Lidl also available on amazon) contain magnesium, potassium, calcium and sodium. Salt only has sodium chloride so yes they have more in.

Lonesurvivor · 29/06/2018 17:54

Thanks gammel I'll try and get some so, it'd be handy to do all in one rather than taking separately.

ilovecherries · 29/06/2018 17:56

Athel, there is nowhere quite like Booths, unfortunately. Round the West End there are more specialist type shops with a bit of individuality, and on the South Side near Newton Mearns there is a Whole Foods.

prettybird · 29/06/2018 17:59

The Whole Foods in Giffnock is no more Shock ilovecherries.

The douce denizens of Giffnock are currently objecting to the prospect of it turning into a Lidl! Grin

StuntNun · 29/06/2018 18:15

OldBirdy I would be inclined to agree with the theory of salt tastes nice if you need it, so long as you aren't a habitual over-salter who automatically salts everything before eating. I never used to add salt to my food but since I went low carb I have found I needed to add it at some points.

Gammeldragz · 29/06/2018 18:22

Just wanted to share this, I bought this dress years ago in the Lanes in Brighton, last time I was slim. It was a little tighter on the chest so I never wore it, then I got a lot bigger and nearly got rid of it. Glad I didn't as it's cool and comfortable. Had to add a belt though as it was baggy on the waist (size 14). I find button up things tight on the chest even though I don't feel like I have big boobs!

Dinner was homemade pizza here so I made a 2 egg omelette and used that as a pizza Base. Yum.

@Gammeldragz you look amazing! I have a whole wardrobe of stuff I can't wear. My motivation was realising my beautiful LKBennett work dress doesn't fit. I want to wear that again but it's fitted and snug in design so there's no chance at the moment!

Lonesurvivor · 29/06/2018 18:39

Gammeldragz that dress is fab and you look amazing in it😍

TimeIhadaNameChange · 29/06/2018 19:07

Gammeldragz - you look amazing in that dress! It is definitely the weather for them. I live in jeans, but the last week or so has seen me bring out the dresses. Also helped by the fact that a friend gave me some lovely ones last week.

Seafour - really sorry to hear about everything you're going through.

Still feeling rooy. Barely ate lunch, I just couldn't face it. I did, however, have something very un-BC this afternoon which I instantly regretted, other than the fact that something was better than nothing. Not sure if I fancy anything for dinner, but there's no rush.

Think I might go back outside and sunbathe for a bit. Was meant to be babysitting but there's now no need, and DP treated me to a lovely swinging chair, so I'd better make some use of it. Life is so tough!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 29/06/2018 19:24

pretty, thanks for the names - I'll check them out!

oldbirdy, complete respect to your father - I normally can't stomach much salt in anything, let alone on its own, but I perked up like a sunflower after my delicious teaspoon's worth.

cherries, thank you for the defunct shop Grin. How about a decent butcher with local provenance?

Gammel, you look stunning! Fantastic figure, and gorgeous dress.

Time, I'd lost my appetite entirely in the heat until the aforementioned spoon of salt, and then the stomach demanding noises went crazy...

Rshard · 29/06/2018 20:40

You look gorgeous ragz

abbey44 · 29/06/2018 20:47

Fab dress Gammel - looks lovely on you.

ilovecherries · 29/06/2018 22:04

Noooo!!!!!! I’ve only been gone 18months. I love Whole Foods :(.

StuntNun · 29/06/2018 22:09

Aargh DH and I went out for dinner and I almost made it. Managed to swerve the bread then had asparagus wrapped in Parma ham with garlic butter for a starter. The main was garlic prawns with vegetables (cauliflower cheese, green beans and courgettes) and we asked for no potatoes so they brought three veg instead. All perfectly low carb until we were tempted into cheesecake for dessert. Oh well I didn't eat the base so hopefully not too bad in the grand scheme of things and it was lush.

ItsalmostSummer · 29/06/2018 22:17

Gammel hara great. Way to go and I am encouraged by your milestone. Thanks

ItsalmostSummer · 29/06/2018 22:17

Meant to say “wow great” not *hara Grin

Gammeldragz · 29/06/2018 22:26

Haha ia good. Cheery... Lol.

Submitted my final assignment for year 2 at 9:45pm, no more essay until winter! Decide to celebrate with wine (none for a month), Omg how sweet is Echo Falls merlot?? (DS1 won it in a raffle and it's the only booze in the house) DH tried it and said it's fine... Tastes like squash to me so I've just downed it rather than savour it, got the desired effect just a shame about the taste! It'll knock me out of fat burning, but I've been fully in track all month and I've worked really hard today so I'm going to enjoy the buzz and try to ignore the taste!

Tattoo day tomorrow for MIL and I (both tattoo Virgins).

Gammeldragz · 29/06/2018 22:27

Hara is good, I mean. Sorry. Wine.

ItsalmostSummer · 30/06/2018 07:25

Yes, hara is good I suppose Smile
