Morning all!

I would normally drop a link to the spreadsheet here, but for some reason I've had to request access to it Confused

So until someone else - or @AthelstaneTheUnready - can sort this, I'm afraid I'll just have to start the thread without the link.

redpanda I don't think I can topthe advice from cereal and 3stone, they talk so much sense.
From a serial weight loss attempter I would say never give up, never resign yourself to not been able to restart and keep going. Most people who lose weight will have made lots of previous attempts.
I started the blood sugar diet in March, stuck it 3 weeks and decided to calorie count for a couple of weeks. I spent almost every day of April trying to switch to low carb and not managing beyond 2 days.
A couple of friends who was doing it inspired me along with advice on this forum.
Finally at the beginning of may I started amd have stuck to LCHF. I mentally prepared myself for expecting a week of craving and carb flu, and generally feeling rotten with the firm belief it would pass and I'd be the better of it.
Basically I treated it like a miserable head cold and went easy myself all week and treated myself in other ways.

I haven't broken the plan at all because it's just not worth it, when I think back to that first week and how awful I felt and see on here how sugar is messing with people's eating I know for certain that I need to spend longer making this a way of life for me. I've lost 2 and a half stone but with at least 4 more to go so I've still a lot of learning and re educating to go.

Sometimes it's kinda hard faffing about buying ingredients or choosing from menus but I keep reminding myself how much harder it was feeling bloated, constantly craving food and never satisfied, mindlessly eating and feeling exhausted all the time.
Try and focus on the positives this plan will bring you I'm sure there's loads.
whatever you're seeing as negatives, see them for what they are minor inconveniences that aren't actually beneficial ever to you.
You've already made a good start and you can bank on that and everything you've already learnedSmile

prettybird · 18/06/2018 11:19

@RedPandaMama - as @3stonedown says, don't beat yourself up. You are where you are. But don't fall face first into carbs - that will only put weight on.

I've found egg fasts effective - but you have to transition carefully back to "ordinary" HFLC eating, otherwise you get a bit of a rebound, so maybe not the best just before going on holiday. When the spreadsheet is back up, one of the tabs, iirc, is for an "UberCamp" - dairy free (except butter, which doesn't count) and portion controlled. Maybe try that. ( @farine - that might be an idea for you too Smile )

StuntNun · 18/06/2018 11:29

Chocchip weight loss can temporarily disrupt hormone levels so that could affect your period.

RedPanda to get back on the wagon then set a date that you're going to commit to start again. Then make a plan for your food for the first few days. Go shopping and make sure you've got plenty of low carb snacks to get you through the first few days.

Farine on you're having cream or cheese at every meal. Why not try restricting it to once or twice a day and see whether that makes a difference. Has your waist measurement changed much over the last few weeks?

farine · 18/06/2018 11:48

So this is my lunch today. Two boiled eggs and a big handful of ham hock mixed together with mayo and then some cucumber sticks to eat with it. This is a typical size cereal bowl and it's about a third full of the eggs and ham mix.

Another week, another pound off. I was looking back at my weight on my Fitbit app this morning and I got down to about this weight a year ago. Then I obviously packed it in and in a few months was a stone heavier again. I just need to make sure that I don’t give up this time, still 2 and a half stones to go!

ShagMeRiggins · 18/06/2018 12:45

Chocchip great NSV re fat feet and sandals. I always appreciate the random ones and am awaiting the first bootcamper bold enough to mention a slimmer fanny... Grin

Luki congratulations on being Overweight! Grin

Two observations:

  1. Having been through a few bootcamps (lots to lose) I have an overall impression that the ones with many success stories seemed to be the ones where many were posting food & water daily throughout the duration.

More accountability and more opportunity for earlier, supportive, critical input from others.

  1. I don’t see as much veg as I would expect when I’m poring others’ menus this bootcamp. Where are the fried mushrooms and spinach at breakfast? Where’s the mahoosive pile of greens and the kale crisps and radishes dripped in sea salt and avocado everywhere?

Some of the menus aren’t even adding to a “five a day” let alone a “get your carbs from veg” way of eating.

Not finger-pointing, just observing.

MrsBertBibby · 18/06/2018 12:53

Well I am bussing back from Court planning leaves, avo, a little cheddar pine nuts and garlic oil.

I do love having room to store food at work! Very lucky.

ItsalmostSummer · 18/06/2018 12:59

Hello all, so I have had to request access to the spreadsheet too. Anyone know why we cannot get on? How do we find out who holds the access? Has anyone else requested access and gotten a response? It’s all very strange. @BIWI has this happened before? Could it just be a glitch? Well I hope we have it back soon.

Lonesurvivor · 18/06/2018 12:59

Good points shag, can anyone point me to where the guidelines as to how much water we drink is? I've seen it somewhere a few times and can't find it.
I was drinking 4 litres which I think was above my requirements but I'm the last couple of weeks it's approx only 3 plus a few cups of tea. I'm going to increase it to 4 again.
Veg wise I realised last week I wasn't eating it with every lunch I had at work, unless it's salad that can be difficult. I made some soup and have a mug of that now too.

Today so far I've had salmon fish cakes, fried in olive oilwith salad and mayonnaise and a cup of soup.

This evening I'll have mushrooms, streaky rashers and low carb sausages fried in butter and cream with raspberries.

prettybird · 18/06/2018 13:05

@Itsalmostsummer - BIWI says in her OP that there is a problem with the spreadsheet as even she couldn't get into it. She tagged @AthelstaneTheUnready who will hopefully be able to sort it, when she has time Smile

Rayna37 · 18/06/2018 13:10

124.4lbs this morning which is 1.8 better than last Monday but still 1lb above my recent lowest weight. I was away this weekend and could have been much better, but also could have been much worse. Along with another friend losing weight, we managed to steer another from pizza to Indian on the premise we basically hadn't touched a vegetable so far that day! Good choices there at least.
With only a small way to go I like to think about all the cakes I haven't eaten and drinks I refused rather than beating myself up about what I have had. KOKO.

abbey44 · 18/06/2018 13:18

158 this morning, which is up 2 (I think, from memory) from last week's low. I made the mistake of baking some bread for the freezer (elder son is coming home for a week soon) and cut off a crust to try.... Whether that comes under the heading of carby twattery or carb refeeding, I don't know, but the net result has been the same. Shockingly high blood sugar and huge dose of insulin to bring it down, a day of feeling pretty shit, and two pounds extra to shift. Live and learn. Again. DS will have shop-bought bread instead.

ItsalmostSummer · 18/06/2018 13:23

Thanks @prettybird. I saw that, I just wondered if it’s happened before? I’m
wondering if it’s just a glitch or whether if we ask for access someone who has that control can still give it - tbh I’m not that in the know of how spreadsheets work these days.

RedPandaMama · 18/06/2018 13:33

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm back on it.

I've bitten the bullet and weighed myself and was actually pleasantly surprised. 94.7kg - lowest a couple of weeks ago was 93.4 so a bit on, but I started at 99 so still way down! Also on my period so feeling very headachy and moody and could explain why sugar cravings have been so bad the last couple of days.

I've drank 2 litres of water already today, aiming for at least 3. I had greek yogurt with some flaxseed mix thing for breakfast, then keto coconut flour pancakes for lunch (made with small amount of coconut flour, 3 eggs, baking soda and soured cream) which were quite bitter but really filling. Going to make lettuce wrapped chicken fajitas for tea with homemade guac and a spicy salsa.

A lot of my meals have to be speedy ones as I'm working and wrangling a 10 month old so I'm doing my best. Would love to have time to cook bacon and eggs for breakfast, might get up early tomorrow to do that.

GiantPandaAttacks · 18/06/2018 13:45

Having seen shagme’s comments above, i am aware that I think part of my weight loss slowing down was in part due to my dropping off the FLGV. So today my menu is:

  • eggs and Boursin. This was awesome, thank you whoever mentioned it on the previous thread.
  • pork, spinach, cabbage, shallot and carrot (I know carrot is high but I only had a little bit) and mayo
  • lamb mince with fried leeks and cabbage.
Snacks: pork scratchings.

Does that still sound bootcamp-y?

Itchyknees · 18/06/2018 13:52

Well I’ve had an inadvertent carb reset.Angry I got HaloTop ice cream and was congratulating myself on how low carb it is, only to realise that the one I had wasn’t 1.4g per serving, it was 14g

Am gutted and feel shit. That’s all.

ItsalmostSummer · 18/06/2018 15:30

Ok so no spreadsheet yet. I wi log here and on MFP as I do. I have actually put on 3.2 pounds. I’m almost back where I was. Interestingly I am taking medication for heavy periods and I now realize I will stop taking the medication. I have only taken it for 11 days. Anyway I am back to square one I think, but still eating no carbs and no sugar just needing to increase my water to be on plan. I started to increase my water again yesterday. I have loads of salad with two out of three meals, and normally just have black coffee (sometimes mct oil) for breakfast. But I love this way of eating so I’ll keep going. The results I had were great (my clothes fitted and I felt better). Thanks everyone for doing this with me,
let’s Koko.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 18/06/2018 15:43

Eeek. Not read all the posts, but it wasn't me, Miss! Shock

Apologies for delay, but it's my birthday so have not been around.

The SS did just let me in, but when I returned to the tab it refused me entry as well. I think it was originally hosted by another BCamper, and it must have still been linked to their account, and they've now made some changes it's changed the privacy settings. @BIWI, can you remember who first set it up?

Happy Birthday Athel Flowers

"congratulations on being Overweight!" made me snort-laugh ShagMe Never thought I'd be so happy about it! Grin

Rshard · 18/06/2018 15:58

Thanks for the new thread BIWI.

Happy birthday athle!

Not going to manage to weigh in until Thursday as I can’t work from home until then and my Boots branch of choice is near home.

Well done to all the losses, nsv’s and koko - sorry for not name checking tho.

I think that all these slip ups, deliberate and inadvertent, fuck it moments, events in life which require a glass of champagne or a slice of cake really shows that this isn’t a diet but a woe.

Itchyknees · 18/06/2018 16:02

Happy birthday Athel Star

GiantPandaAttacks · 18/06/2018 16:12

Happy birthday AthelstaneTheUnready!

ShagMeRiggins · 18/06/2018 16:28

Lonesurvivor the water recommendations are in the Week 1 thread in BIWI’s first post, normally. I’ve taken a photo as that’s easier than cut & paste on my phone, and I’m nothing if not a lazy moo (or merely efficient, you be the judge).

Rayna very wise way of looking at things—congratulate yourself on what you did right rather than obsess on what you did wrong. We are all doing something “right” by being here and making changes, even those who are struggling.

Luki glad I made you snort. My friends did Atkins very successfully about a decade ago and threw a “We’re Only Fat Now!” party in their flat to celebrate It stuck with me.

Athel so not on acid, just a birthday. Darn, I was hoping for some outrageous story. Hope you’re having the happiest of birthdays, and many more years to come.

I think it was @wombatoo who did the sprradsheet in the past, not sure who originated it but if she gets my Bat Signal she might come along and confirm whether there’s been a change to permissions or something on her account.

Greek salad here tonight (too fecking hot to eat). Tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, black olives, feta cheese, oregano, and olive oil; feeling Veg Virtuous. Halo

I've managed to find a link to an old spreadsheet that seems to work, so at least people can access the resources in it
