Morning all!

I would normally drop a link to the spreadsheet here, but for some reason I've had to request access to it Confused

So until someone else - or @AthelstaneTheUnready - can sort this, I'm afraid I'll just have to start the thread without the link.

Who knows, can you access the bit to change privacy settings?

Gammeldragz · 19/06/2018 07:06

Leelaseye I had to stop buying peanut butter, I can seriously get through it!

I made myself a LC keto chocolate lava mug cake last night. Surprisingly good. Hadn't had a pudding for a while and I don't do it often. DH was out drinking at a meeting and I was bored and lonely and feeling PMS. That will do me for the week, I have to be a little strict otherwise I'd end up eating them every day!

Today I've packed salad with chorizo and camembert and Greek yogurt with strawberries which I'll have for breakfast if I get time at tea break.

Have a good day everyone.

Gammeldragz · 19/06/2018 07:09

I've managed to get into the spreadsheet from the latest link and re entered my weight from yesterday as it had gone. Seems OK now.

BIWI · 19/06/2018 07:37

@theoldtrout01876 Sorry you're feeling down.

List out for me your food and drink over the last few days and let me see if I can help.

(The same applies to anyone who feels it's not working for them by the way!)

When you've got the spreadsheet sorted, Athelstane could you delete me Please?

I'll go it alone from here I think.

Good luck all, especially Seafour with getting ready for surgery, you've all been lovely, and Cherries you've been an inspiration.

So after three weeks of putting of yoyo-ing, I dropped 2 lbs at the end of last week (already congratulated here on that Grin) - had a bad weekend (planned), stayed the same yesterday and dropped another lb this morning! 10 lbs since the start of bootcamp.

Thanks all - especially BIWI - for all the help and encouragement. I know I wouldn't have stuck at it without these threads. You made me accept the standing still without giving up.

ilovecherries · 19/06/2018 08:22

@MrsBertBiddy thank you :). Do you need to go? Do you feel you’d do better going it alone? Honestly, I’m not a group person by any means, but it’s been these threads that have kept me going the last year. I have this vision that I may still be here at 95, sitting with whatever an iPad looks like by then, chuntering on about how bootcamp changed my life and posting pictures to demonstrate that 95 year olds can look hot :). Don’t go unless you feel it will help :) Flowers

BlackMozart · 19/06/2018 08:25

Very sad to see you go Mrs BB. I hope it’s not the exchange yesterday that has put you off. I am sure most of us have had a moment on here when we thought fuck it. I was literally on about my third post back in October, asked a question and was ‘shouted’ at to read the SOF - I almost left before I had even got started but I am glad I didn’t.
If you do go it alone good luck. And KOKO.

Kleptronic · 19/06/2018 08:29

Yes MrsBertBiddy what Cherries said, don't go, unless it'll improve things for you.

ilovecherries · 19/06/2018 08:32

I have a TMI question. Maybe stuntnun can help? As suggested, I had a bit of a carb refeed on Sunday - basically a largish potato made into wedges and roasted skin on. All good, enjoyed it, but yesterday I kept having to make urgent visitations to be toilet, and the amount of noisy gut activity I had all day and during the night last night was, well, very noisy! My tummy gurgled and growled way beyond any normal digestive noise. Could the potato have done this? I had debilitating IBS before this woe, in the last year I’ve had three separate occasions at the most, none lasting more than a few hours, whereas in the past a bout could last for weeks. Surely I can’t be that sensitive to a non-grain carb?

oldbirdy · 19/06/2018 08:36

cherries it's possible to be sensitive to nightshades including potato - one if my boys gets ibs symptoms if he eats chips and his throat feels tingly and tight if he eats new potatoes (,for obvious reasons we don't feed him them!)

Maybe next refeed do a grain carb instead to see if it might be potatoes?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 19/06/2018 08:38

Betcha you can, Cherries Grin

I had stew on Sunday, including 1/2 carrot and some shallots - sweet veg I don't normally eat. I have been gurgling and tromboning and whistling ever since, with accompanying trips to the loo.

Not sure why, but I noticed this before when I strayed into (a massive portion of) swede for my cottage pie. I think it's the extra starch getting broken down into plenty of gas...

Twoo · 19/06/2018 08:42

Hi everyone. Thank you for new thread BIWI NRFT yet.

I’ve tried to enter weight of 150 on spreadsheet but it’s been changed to read only. Can anyone help please?

Farine in response to your post at the end of thread 5, I totally empathise. My weight has yoyoed between 147 - 150 for weeks.

I remain doing bc. I think I need to look at portion control (calories), although I realise that doesn’t fit the remit of this bc, but I can’t think of what else to do.

I’m not snacking unless you count coffee with cream x2 a day. I IF, due to not being hungry until lunch time. I Probably have too much dairy & fat.

Yesterday’s food
Coffee with cream x 2
Chicken with skin, kale and leeks in cheese sauce.
2 boiled eggs with home made mayo.

2 1/2 ltrs water

Food each day is of a similar vein. Eggs or home made soup for lunch. Meat or fish with masses of veg or salad for evening meal. Accompanied by oil based dressings or mayo etc.

Seafour · 19/06/2018 08:54

Mrsbert please don't go, you need us and we need you. You don't have to disappear completely, just lurk and come back when you need us to help/support and offer endless insight into this woe, hormone disruption, constipation, emotional eating, and endless delicious recipes. Thanks

Mimosa1 · 19/06/2018 08:57

@MrsBertBibby could you do what I do and stay on the thread but not enter your weight in the spreadsheet? I have a free weight tracker app on my phone with graphs that I find quite helpful.

prettybird · 19/06/2018 08:58

Twoo - have you seen BIWI's response to farine ?

Strike that, you did say you hadn't RTFT Blush

She suggests that farine might be one of those for whom dairy stalls and to try cutting that out first. You're having both cream and cheese - so maybe that's the problem.

I can't remember how tall you are, but assuming you are an average height, you are pretty close to a "normal" BMI, so weight loss will slow. Have you noticed other changes? Has your waist measurement gone down? (My waist had gone down an inch despite being 11st 13lb in January, March and a couple of weeks ago Shock) Is your skin better with all the fat and water? Do you have more energy? Feel in a better mood? Stopped having hypoglycaemic lows mid-afternoon? These are all benefits I've experienced, so even if the scales hadn't finally started moving down again, I'd still continue this HFLC WOE. Smile

AthelstaneTheUnready · 19/06/2018 09:04

Twoo, there's a new link HERE as we've been baffled by the other one.

Itchyknees · 19/06/2018 09:05

Wow I’d forgotten about mid afternoon glycemic slumps! Another great benefit!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 19/06/2018 09:54

@MrsBertBiddy

I second what cherries says. my biggest successes on LC were when i had a forum to inspire me. I think it keeps your head in the game.

Twoo · 19/06/2018 09:58

Prettybird Thank you. Yes I might be what I’ve seen on here referred to as dairy sensitive, so will limit cheese (I don’t have it daily anyway) and increase butter & oil. I’m under five feet, can’t do exercise in any normal sense of the word due to spinal cord injury, so energy output is low. I do what I can ... think stretches ... adapted yoga etc.

Athel’ Happy Birthday for yesterday Flowers. Yes on rtft I’ve found the working link and now posted my weight. Thank you.

I do really enjoy reading about everyone’s experiences on here. You lot are great for motivation, so a massive thank you, especially BIWI, Athel’ et el.

StuntNun · 19/06/2018 10:12

Twoo I tend to find that cream, cheese and mayo aren't the best sources of fats for weight loss. Can you replace some of these with butter or oils? On the other hand I do think it's natural for weight loss to stall, sometimes for extended periods while your body find a new normal. I personally stalled for six months at 132 lb before getting to my ideal weight of 126 lb. If you really feel that you need to do something then I suggest putting all your food into My Fitness Pal for three days to see what level your calories and macros are at currently. That would make it more obvious whether portion size was an issue, and whether you're getting the right proportions of carbs, protein and fat. From your food log you could even be eating too few calories, it's very difficult to tell without seeing the numbers. Also, when are you having your coffee with cream? If you're having them instead of breakfast then you aren't fasting so you won't be getting the benefits of that. If you're spreading the dairy out through the day then it could well be playing haywire with your insulin levels.

Cherries as Oldbirdy says it's quite possible to be intolerant to potatoes and FODMAPs such as potatoes are a common cause of IBS. Bootcamp is pretty low in FODMAPs but if you're still having occasional symptoms you might want to try cutting out nightshades (tomatoes, peppers, aubergine), maybe onions and garlic as well, and avoid milk and artificial sweeteners.

Lonesurvivor · 19/06/2018 10:14

MrsBertBibby what's up? Are you feeling the threads aren't helping you or is this a possible case of self sabotage? You mentioned yesterday a suit fitting you properly and losing a years worth of flab, which is a fantastic achievementSmile
I know every time I reach a stage I'm happy with my stupid brain goes into self sabotage mode. There must be some primal instincts at play.

If it's about yesterday, it was crossed wires and bad timing plain and simple. This is my first boot camp and I get frustrated when posters can't be bothered to read the thread or help others but expect lots of advice themselves, I can't imagine how frustrating 6 years of it must be. Not that that's what you were doing.

I almost left the thread my hormonal irrational self last week. I've posted a few different about been hormonal and struggling, starting blood pressure tablets and feeling low about it and it been my birthday and managing to stick to plan and asked a couple of questions, interacted with posters with zero responsesBlush

It was almost the catalyst to give me enough reason to storm off. Thankfully a little common sense kicked in and the hormones settled. This thread moves fast, I miss lots myself despite rtft and posts get "lost" in the middle of other topics, nothing personal is going on or no ill feeling is behind any lack of or too much interaction.

Maybe leave your weigh up for now and take a step back from the thread for a couple of days and see if you still feel the same.Flowers

Giraffeski · 19/06/2018 10:18

I'm another 2lb down Smile. That's a total of 18 lb so far this bootcamp.
I have set myself a goal now of losing half a stone before the family holiday in August and another half stone before I go away with my sister in September. The September trip is in 14 weeks time, so hopefully not too unrealistic if I can do it by losing an average of 1lb per week.
As a long term goal I would really like to get down to 9 stone which is 35lb from where I am now. So I'd say if I can be at my target weight by this time next year I would be pretty happy.

Lonesurvivor · 19/06/2018 10:22

StuntNun I've seen on here advice to cut back on dairy if losses are stalling. I was only thinking cheese and cream but notice you also mentioned mayonnaise.
Do you know what it is about these 3 that can cause such a reaction while butter doesn't?
I've been having lots of mayonnaise recently on salads rather than oil, I'll switch that up as I noticed when I was previously using more oil I had more regular bathroom movementsBlush
I'd been looking at trying to get more fat into my diet and have been having cream which I'm not a huge fan of unless it's in a sauce so oil on a salad would be a tastier option too.

BIWI · 19/06/2018 10:24

@MrsBertBibby - have sent you a PM.

But I'll also say what I've pretty much said there - please don't go, and I'm really sorry if I upset you.

I'm not having a good time right now, for various reasons, and one of the things that really irritates me is when people don't read posts on the thread, which is what I thought you had done

I'm afraid I took out my overall state of mind on you, in a knee-jerk response, for which I'm very, very sorry.

I post on another forum, where people are ex-MN (some still here) and I've always made a point of not talking about Bootcamp on there - it's nice to have a place where I can just post about other stuff Smile - but I was asked specifically about Bootcamp. There were a whole series of exchanges about how intimidating some of them found it, which were really hard to read, because I've always thought this was a supportive place to post.

However, clearly that's not always the case, and yesterday was a case in point for me. So many apologies Flowers Gin
