Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

BIWI · 19/03/2018 07:19

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

That's not reassuring me, Bluntness Grin

If I eat chocolate at all these days, I have the 100% stuff, and just let a small square melt slowly in my mouth while drinking mint tea. Was at a friend's this afternoon for a baby shower and she'd bought 85% for me. It was almost unbearably sweet, I had a couple of squares but I felt like I was eating quality street. How did THAT happen.

Twoo · 26/04/2018 16:52

Thank you for the proposed date Biwi & Thank you for looking after the spreadsheet Athel’ ..... runs off to mark the calendar Grin

@BIWI - and everyone else - I won't do it until we actually start, but are we all OK with losing the data in the weigh-in tab for the next bootcamp, or does anybody want to save their numbers?

AveAtqueVale · 26/04/2018 22:01

Yay new bootcamp! I’ve been on holiday this week so have been a bit off piste, but have also swapped plenty of chips for side salads etc so not feeling too bad about it. And most surprisingly (to me, and DH, who was thoroughly bemused) I packed my running kit and took myself off for my week 6 Cto5k runs. Did a solid 22 minutes this morning with only one slightly hairy moment when I was pursued by donkeys (we’re in the New Forest and they were mooching around on the verge I was jogging along. When I went past them they all started trundling after me, which was slightly unnerving.)

AveAtqueVale · 26/04/2018 22:09

OH, also, DH appears to have become lactose intolerant. So if anyone has any brilliant dairy free recipes I’d be grateful, since my approach to LCHF cooking so far has been to add cheese and cream to everything. Bonus points if they’re also gluten free, suitable for a three year old who aspires to live entirely on turkey dinosaurs and apples and appealing to an exceptionally carnivorous baby. I sometimes genuinely think we will never all be able to sit down and eat the same meal again.

Bluntness100 · 26/04/2018 22:17

I've signed up but won't be doing spreadsheet thing athel as I don't weigh myself..I'm more just KOKO.

BrassicaBabe · 27/04/2018 07:22

Thank you Rayna Please zap me some of your cooking mojo Grin

Eolian · 27/04/2018 07:54

Anyone got any quick and easy breakfast ideas? I'm only 2 weeks in and I'm already fed up with eggs and Greek yoghurt!

Rshard · 27/04/2018 08:08

What about egg muffins eolian, I know you’re fed up with eggs but you can add in bacon, chorizo, spinach, cheese all sorts so the egg is kind of secondary. Chia seed porridge, not quite the same but you can add cream, cinnamon etc to pimp it up a bit

Bluntness100 · 27/04/2018 08:21

Morning all.

Eolian, what about things like ham, cold meats, cheeses, the continental type breakfast?

Or if you have time to cook quickly things like bacon and mushrooms.

If you get bored easily, then I'd maybe try aiming for something different each day.

Eolian · 27/04/2018 08:31

Ooh - might try the chia seed porridge and the muffins - thanks! Has anyone tried making wraps or pancakes from flaxseed? I bought some the other day and it's surprisingly low carb but I haven't made anything with it yet!

Rayna37 · 27/04/2018 08:54

Eolian I make a porridge from a combination of chia seeds, ground flax/linseeds, and ground almonds, varying the quantities of each as I feel like it. Not as low carb as eggs but nice for a bit of variation a couple of times a week.

Sausages with some mushrooms sautéed in butter is a good change from eggs, or sausages can be cooked the day before and eaten cold if time is an issue.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 27/04/2018 09:22

I've pretty much given up on breakfast, Eolian, as I never seem to want it. If it is needed, I tend to scarf a tin of sardines Blush.

I have two NSVs to report, and they're cracking. Grin

First, my cellulite is continuing to improve - I caught sight of my arse this morning, and I'm down to two (admittedly bad) small patches on the rounds of my buttocks, instead of all over. But my legs! It's gone! I even sat down on the edge of the bath to squidge everything, and it's completely gone from my thighs.

Second, my push-ups and carrying-heavy-things is paying off. I was shifting a bag of coal yesterday and my shirt split across my shoulder blades. Am now very slim on top so not due to flab, but my shoulders are noticeably broader. I felt all Hulky and impressed with myself Grin.

Bluntness100 · 27/04/2018 09:54

Ha! Congrats athel .

I have a couple too , I can get my size eight skinnies on, they don't even look bad, only a slight muffin top, totally wearable, and I got two of my size ten sheath dresses fastened up over my boobs, sure the other dozen dresses still don't fit over my boobs (🤪) but it's getting there.

C section over hang will never go but tummy is improving....

Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!
LeapinLizards · 27/04/2018 10:19

Hooray for the NSVs! well done athel and blunt. I'm particularly pleased to read about the cellulite loss - I didn't realise that was a side effect of this WOE. What a fab one!

ilovecherries · 27/04/2018 10:45

5k done. Why is it that some days it just feels like a miserable struggle from beginning to end, other days exactly the same run feels easy. (Today was a miserable day. And because I run it in three loops from the house, I had to really resist the temptation to just abandon it every time the house came in sight). Right, off to have a shower then have a report I need to finish. And as an aside, why do men find it screamingly funny to holler at my bald head? Idiots.

Almahart · 27/04/2018 11:06

Looking forward to next boot camp! Am going to join even though on holiday from May 25. If I have it in mind it will stop me going mad

I’m down 3ibs and less bloated. Easing myself back in though, I had some chips and a couple of glasses of wine last night. Am ok with that for now, will ramp it up next week

Bluntness100 · 27/04/2018 11:41

Because they are ignorant idiots cherries.

And yeah, I work out most days, I'd say half of the time I can't be arsed and it's a conversation I have with myself where I try to talk myself out of it.

I'll be honest, I do it for aesthetics as I know it makes a huge difference to your body. Quite frankly there are times I'd rather sit on the sofa eating biscuits. Howeveron those days, about half way through I start to feel great and feel fantastic when I've finished. On the days I am in the mood I feel great from the start.

Once you start seeing results, it's motivational though.

Losing weight is 80% diet, 20% exercise, but what's not inc in that stat is the huge difference exercise makes to your body, you become much more toned, smaller framed etc. There is a major difference between being simply a healthy weight and a healthy weight and toned/fit in terms of how you look and how your clothes fit.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 27/04/2018 13:50

Because it appears men get to comment loudly on women everywhere, all the time, Cherries. Especially when a woman seems to be doing something that belongs in the male domain.

So a shaved head for you, and every time I pick up garden tools, especially motorised ones such as the chainsaw, a man will magically appear out of an empty landscape to instruct me on what I should be doing. Fuck knows where they teleport in from, but can you tell that the years have not mellowed me to this behaviour? Grin tossers

AthelstaneTheUnready · 27/04/2018 13:54

In fact, yesterday's was a classic of it's kind. I had a lawnmower out and about, and some bloke actually walked into the drive when I was about to refill it to point out the petrol cap to me, and subsequently explained that that meant it was where the petrol should go. tosser

Grimbles · 27/04/2018 16:31

These buserelin injections have made me massively bloated and I am retaining so much water. Envy

On the plus side I am actually drinking over 3l of water a day, that's got to work out well soon, right? Grin

ilovecherries · 27/04/2018 16:56

Today’s helpful suggestion (amid much horn tooting) was ‘get a wig baldie’. Yes, because even when I’m out running I need to be acceptable to the male gaze. Tossers indeed.

BrassicaBabe · 27/04/2018 17:24

Blunt I'm with you in that 80/20% rule when it comes to exercise. My thighs are bloody amazing these days!! Grin

ilove some days it's nearly impossible to get out isn't it. Some days I hate every step. Other days I nearly enjoy it! Raining today and just couldn't be arsed!

BrassicaBabe · 27/04/2018 17:25

Oh and I was busy today. Mis timed meals etc. So ended up eating most of a family pack of peanuts. Again Sad
