Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

BIWI · 19/03/2018 07:19

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

I don't weigh myself but in thr days that I did I could easily gain a few pounds in a day, it was predominantly just water and not actual fat. You'd have to eat a shit load more than a large dominoes to gain four pounds of fat.

I'm ok with eating a lot of carbs and then stopping the next day bizzarely. As said at the beginning of this, it usually needs to be something in my life that throws me off track, for example this time breaking my ankle, or previously moving house or whatever and I then disappear down the rabbit hole and emerge a few stone heavier.

I think you just need to see this as the way you eat and then when you do come off it understand you won't be continuing it the next day or after the event or holiday or whatever. You do really need to see it as a rest of life thing. Understanding if you go back to eating as you did before it's why you gained weight in thr first place, and how that felt to you.

It really is why most diets fail, people just go back to eating as they did then wonder why all the weight and more went back on.

I'm fully aware of why I gained weight, I spent several months sitting on my arse with my leg elevated, or limping about slowly , and ate every bit of crap I could get my hands on.😞

I bought a bag of this stuff from amazon: Erythritol. Seems ok...

Eolian · 25/04/2018 15:52

The large increases happened to me after last time I did Bootcamp, when I tried going on the Bootcamp Light rules. It's happening now too, in the first couple of weeks of LC. I lost 4lb in about 6 days, then 3 of those lb have been coming and going over the following week. Tbh I've been easing myself back in fairly gently though - have had a few berries and nuts etc. If it continues to fluctuate I'll be a bit stricter, lower the dairy and quit the nuts and berries I guess. I feel slimmer though.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 25/04/2018 18:26

I think we pay more attention while on BC as well. I don't normally weigh myself, except when doing BC, so wouldn't have noticed daily / weekly fluctuations of lbs.

Today, for example, I weighed 60kg when I got up, but after a day's gardening and a hot bath, I now weigh 57kg. That's 90% water (I'm feeling quite thirsty), but bet you anything if I weighed after a litre of water and dinner I'd be back up to 60kg, and - having exercised fasted today - will be 59kg tomorrow morning. Grin

I'm wise to it's deviousness now. Wink

Rshard · 25/04/2018 20:01

Thanks brassica

ilovecherries · 25/04/2018 20:42

Oh god, yesterday I started a 21 days arms challenge from a FB fitness group I'm on. I can barely lift my FTGV to my mouth now.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 25/04/2018 20:54

I can see you lowering your face to the table, Cherries Grin

Almahart · 25/04/2018 21:29

I’m being a bit boring and just posting food but enjoying reading maintenance discussions

I am obviously totally accustomed to this woe as I have slipped back into it no bother

That said dinner was salted almonds, ff yog and chorizo at my desk but I wasn’t even tempted by anything else really

ilovecherries · 25/04/2018 22:00

Athel, that is a brilliant idea! #backupplan Grin

Bluntness100 · 25/04/2018 22:25

Cherries you made me laugh...🤣

I had a happy thought I thought I'd share with you all who have been on this awhile.

Remember, before you started, when you were getting ready to go someplace and you had to find something to wear? And it was a case of what actually fits and what doesn't make you look too fat? What hides the lumps and bumps? That "fucking hell nothing fits" feeling?

Well now it's simply about what you actually want to wear. Because it all looks nice and you actually feel good in it. And you've got a wide choice to pick from.

That's a nice feeling and a happy thought.😍

ilovecherries · 25/04/2018 22:30

You're right, Blunt. Clothes have actually become a source of pleasure for me, when before they were just a necessity.

BIWI · 25/04/2018 22:34

When you fall off the wagon, and eat loads of carbs, you don't immediately gain weight because you've put on fat. What's happened is that you're re-filling your glycogen stores - where you keep excess glucose for energy needs, beyond what you need for immediate energy.

If you get straight back on the wagon, drink plenty of water and also do some/increase your exercise (so you're increasing your energy requirements) you should see that gain disappear quickly.

Cherries wow 21 days Arms, I can only imagine the pain! If I do even a few half-arsed press ups or dips etc I really know about it.

Currently aching after my "comeback race" for my athletic club this evening. My waters broke spectating at the first one of the season so fitting to come back for the final one even if my pelvic floor decided not to show. Ate a bunch of biscuits and some of the cake provided afterwards for no good reason but overall feels like an achievement.

BIWI · 25/04/2018 22:37

I'm thinking that I'll start the next Bootcamp on 14 May, which would take us up to the last weigh-in on 23 July.

But - the very lovely wombattoo is still recovering from her op, so I don't want to bother her and ask if she can look after the spreadsheet this time.

Is there anyone here who is prepared to volunteer?

The main job that needs to be done is entering people's names from the beginning, and then it should pretty much run itself, I think. I'd be very grateful if there's anyone who can take it over Flowers

AthelstaneTheUnready · 26/04/2018 06:23

@BIWI, I'm a whizz with spreadsheets [modest], and will definitely volunteer - the only hitch is that I don't look at Mumsnet every day, so if people don't mind occasionally waiting a few days to get something done, am very happy to look after it.

Rshard · 26/04/2018 07:07

That’s spot on bluntness

Well done on your race rayna

Thanks BIWI, looking forward to the start of the next boot camp. And to you too athle for volunteering to look after the spreadsheet. I’m grateful for all the effort and support so certainly wouldn’t mind waiting.

BIWI · 26/04/2018 07:25

Thank you very, very much @AthelstaneTheUnready!

I think the key thing is getting it set up to start with, and then probably most likely being around on Monday to deal with all the people who've touched the blue cells when entering their data!!!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 26/04/2018 07:31

Ahh, I love a good formula, me...

MrsBertBibby · 26/04/2018 07:57

I think I'll be in.

This is day 5 and I am 5 pounds down. I've just put on a work dress and lo! the "If she were 10 years younger she'd look pregnant" bump has gone.

ilovecherries · 26/04/2018 08:26

Oh good, new bootcamp :). Not that I've ever really come off the one that started last May, but I find the extra activity on the threads helpful. So nearly at my bootcampiversary! One year, which would have passed anyway, and if previous years were anything to go by, I'd have been 7 lbs heavier. But here I am, 5 stone lighter :). (And still cursing that last, intractable stone, which simply will not piss off)

Bluntness100 · 26/04/2018 09:25

Morning all.

And yay another boot camp, I shall tag along if that's ok. Thanks biwi.

I don't use the excel but well done for volunteering athel!

Well done bibby!

BrassicaBabe · 26/04/2018 10:17

Yeah! I'll join in the threads but not the xls now at goal-ish. But somehow I have really lost my cooking mojo on LCHF. I've lost weight but have relied too much on processed meat and cheese. So I'll be making a BC resolution to cook better and more often and incorporate much more veg

Rayna37 · 26/04/2018 13:17

Brassica I'll send you some of my cooking mojo! Mat leave means more time to shop, plan and cook extravagant recipes when really a bit more simple meat/fish and FLGV with butter would do me good I think and help get this last half stone off!
Next boot camp is perfectly timed for after my Scotland trip; back on the strict wagon, back writing everything down, final push.

ilovecherries · 26/04/2018 13:37

I thought my DOMS couldn't get worse. It has. I can barely hold my iPad. Now that IS an emergency!

Bluntness100 · 26/04/2018 14:12

It's a good sign cherries. The muscles will now start rebuilding themselves.

Today my tummy and thighs hurt. To be honest, my thighs have now probably hurt for four solid months. 😂
