Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

Had salmon and salad for lunch and a pork and leek concoction for dinner. A small handful of blueberries for a snack and lots of water.

Almahart · 24/04/2018 18:46

I’m really looking forward to the scales going down!

Twoo · 24/04/2018 19:09

Persevere and they will Alma’ Grin

MrsBertBibby · 24/04/2018 19:23

Had to get food for the kid's D of E trip.

Argh! Toffee waffles and cashews and dried mango and crackers.

Feeding my face with gouda and trying not to look.

Grimbles · 24/04/2018 19:55

Evening all! Not been around for a while, seem to be stuck in a stall since the last week or so of the last bootcamp - have been stuck at about 11st8 give or take.

The egg fast saw me drop a couple of lbs initially but it soon went back up when I went back to lchf.

Will koko though, this too shall pass!

Sorry to hear your news twinkle x

ilovecherries · 24/04/2018 20:32

Grimbles, join the club (gloomy). I've been 11 stone 5 for about 8 weeks now. Starting to feel very frustrated with myself.

LeapinLizards · 24/04/2018 21:25

cherries does your post mean that your lost lb found its way back to you?

ilovecherries · 24/04/2018 21:35

Sure did. I'm trying to take heart from the fact I even saw 11.4, as I'm not even having any variation at all, so maybe it's the first signs of movement. I've been sitting on that 11.5 rock solidly for so long.

ChiefSuspect · 24/04/2018 21:38

Hello all, check out my new NN.

Been having a spectacularly difficult couple of days in work. New job hasn't got off to a good start Sad

LeapinLizards · 24/04/2018 21:40

How annoying for you. But, as you say, at least there was downward movement. It might be natural fluctuation that has prompted rise back to 11:5 & you're down again tomorrow. Fingers crossed

Bluntness100 · 24/04/2018 21:53

Evening all.

Those biscuits look yummy. I can never be arsed with making stuff like that. Too lazy! Sigh.

Well done on the running and tentative loss cherries.welcome back alma and grimbles.😁

Well I'm still at it, got my new white shorts today and they fit fine, also ordered a pair of denim ones and they are also good. Have noticed now my legs and arse are marginally skinnier than they actually were before I gained weight. However from waist up I'm still bigger than I was before. Groan.

I dunno. Spend a few months piling on the pounds and when you lose it again your sodden body has changed shape. Suspect I'm peri menopausal and it's impacting. 😔

AthelstaneTheUnready · 25/04/2018 06:40

Lovely to have you back, Alma and Grimbles.

Big for Twinkle.

Bluntness, your shape will change again just as soon as it catches up. I've gone back up to 9.6, having hovered at 9 for a while. Causes are: a) a lot of fell-walking with a LOT of steep ascents, and b) too much wine and cheese and potato while a friend has been staying.

a) has caused heavy muscle gain, as well as b) causing some bloat - I know this, because (and this is the point about your body shape changing fast, Blunt), I look a hell of a lot better on the way up to 9.6 just now, than I did when I passed 9.6 on the way down from 10.3. Then I was still badly flabby and bulged in my clothes - now trousers are loose around the waist, there's an ever-increasing gap between my thighs, and my arms are looking much more toned.

I'm surprised by how quickly your body shape can improve.

Almahart · 25/04/2018 07:10

Thanks for the welcome back messages!

Down a couple of pounds over night as I begin the initial whoosh. Feels like a relief to be back on it but I do worry about maintenance next time round.

Rshard · 25/04/2018 08:10

Morning all

Welcome back grimbles

I worry about maintenance too alma, but I’m thinking I can use my recently discovered self control and dabble in higher carbs occasionally alongside this woe.

Bluntness100 · 25/04/2018 08:24

Morning all.

Athel thanks and yes, I think you have a point. I guess I'm just being silly as I can't fasten any of my work dresses past the bust and a couple of tops are also still too tight. I wouldn't be bothered if it wasn't for the fact I've always been a different size to this and my objective was to get back into all my old clothes. Now I know if I ever did get back into them they would be too loose at the hips and not look right.

Although my jackets feel fine on my arms, a friend did comment with surprise you could see the muscle where my shoulders join my neck last week, as I had moved my hair to one side, so suspect I'm also bigger on my shoulders and arms still, I guess it is what it is.😔

Congrats alma on the whoosh!

On maintenance I wouldn't worry. I think if you stay on this way of eating long enough it becomes habit. So you come off, eat what you please but go back on it thr next day or whenever. The trick is to not come off and stay off....

BrassicaBabe · 25/04/2018 11:28

So, apparently rhubarb is a veg! Google tells me it's 4.5 carb per 100g. So if I sweeten it with a sugar substitute I'm good to go right?

Rshard · 25/04/2018 11:42

I think you’ve summed up maintenance perfectly there blunt

I’ve got rhubarb fool planned for our crop brassica, recipes usually have sugar in them but I’ll probably just leave it out

BrassicaBabe · 25/04/2018 12:10

Without sugar Rshard? Shock I've just had a go. It's taken 4 dessert spoons of sugar substitute to make it palatable!

BrassicaBabe · 25/04/2018 12:14

I'm broadly in maintenance. (Really trying hard to shift one last lb as a mental goal.) When I was doing things like Vlcd I used to cheat every weekend and then manage my diet heavily in the week. With LCHF I cheat on about one meal at a weekend every 3-4 weeks. And by cheat I mean a whole dominos pizza or the like. I tend to put on about 3lb. But I'm straight back on LCHF afterwards. It probably takes about 4 days to shift the extra weight.

LeapinLizards · 25/04/2018 13:09

Wow, Brassica, that one meal puts on 3lb??? Shock. It's so disappointing that weight can go on that fast - an hour to eat a pizza, maybe? - yet take days to come off again.

Bluntness100 · 25/04/2018 13:18

To be fair I think it's probably water weight as opposed to fat...

And rhubarb unsweetened...😱

Twoo · 25/04/2018 13:55

Brass’ a couple of weeks ago I literally put on 3lbs overnight. I’d eaten some home made bread I think. By the next day it was back off. No other food has done that to my weight. I’m off bread permanently though now as diagnosed gluten intolerant.

Almahart · 25/04/2018 13:59

Think it’s hard to do the thing where 4ibs goes on overnight and you manage to then stay off the carbs. But I was managing on boot camp so I know it is possible

No bf as not hungry, lunch was chicken and salad and a Diet Coke

BrassicaBabe · 25/04/2018 14:05

Maybe it's just me with the large increase when I cheat. I've been dieting of all different varieties for probably nearly 30 years (I'm 45). I reckon my metabolism is shot to pieces! Plus I think it's mainly water. But it does take a few days to shift.

And by cheat, I do mean a whole large dominoes pizza. When I do things I don't do things by halves! Grin

Rshard · 25/04/2018 14:19

Really brassica, a little tart was it? What sugar sub did you use, I might need to add some to the online shop
