Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

BIWI · 19/03/2018 07:19

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

What about peanut butter with celery, cauliflower, or low carb crackers?

Bowieben · 20/03/2018 11:22

Many thanks all for arranging this bootcamp, this has been the kick up the b*m I needed to try change my eating habits.

I've not been actively involved in the forum, but have been lurking in the background.

I started at 202lb at the start and this morning I am weighing in at 176lb (so, 26lb down in total!)

I plan to continue with this way of eating as I have not found it too difficult and just feel so much better!!

Thanks all who helped organise it!

Ben

Appaloosajunction · 20/03/2018 11:28

That's fantastic Ben. Well done.

StuntNun · 20/03/2018 12:23

The campsite has a shared kitchen so hopefully it will be a step up from a camping stove. But I'm not sure how much fridge space we will have (if any).

Rayna37 · 20/03/2018 12:46

Stuntnun we do lots of low carb cooking in our camper van and sometimes take our stupidly massive ridiculous purchase "glawning" (glamping style bell tent awning) too. We're a bit spoilt with a fridge, 2 gas rings and a grill but a bucket BBQ is great to take too for plenty of good stuff: burgers, sausages, halloumi, any veg/meat etc on skewers. Salad accompaniments. Cooked breakfasts should be easy. We usually take something we made earlier like a stew, curry or chilli for the first night to just heat up.

BrassicaBabe · 20/03/2018 12:57

I run a glamping site....one customer bought a a slow cooker with them. Another bought a microwave and a deep fat fryer! Shock

Twoo · 20/03/2018 16:16

Final weigh in of 151.1 lbs. 10st 11.1lbs. Overall lost 9lbs. Very pleased to say the least. Feel fitter, healthier and slimmer!

Thank you BIWI , Pretty’ and this thread for all the support and advice Flowers

Roll on next Boot Camp Grin

BerylStreep · 20/03/2018 17:01

Great results everyone. And thanks to BIWI, PrettyBird, Stuntnun and Sayrra Flowers

I was 203lbs at the final weigh in - so 7lbs off this bootcamp, and 16lbs off since November.

Looking forward to KOKO in the interim thread.

Rshard · 20/03/2018 17:39

Some great results. So many lives healthier, happier and slimmer because of these threads. Thanks to BIWI, prettybird, beryl, stuntnun and sayyra.

Twoo · 20/03/2018 18:33

Sorry I didn’t mean to miss off Beryl, nun, & Say’ off my post... I’d just forgotten everyone’s names Blush

Myliferevolvesaroundcheese · 20/03/2018 18:36

Hi!! I’m a bit late to the party. Story of my life!

Anyway, started last Wednesday after finding out Keto could help my epilepsy calm down a bit.

I’m 6lbs down and no sign of the epilepsy even at work 😁. So posting here to get your wonderful advice until BC starts again.

Twoo · 20/03/2018 19:01

Hello & welcome ’cheese. This is such a wonderfully supportive thread with loads of knowledge.

Myliferevolvesaroundcheese · 20/03/2018 19:12

Thank you! I’ll lurk until the next boot camp Smile

BlackMozart · 20/03/2018 19:43

So good to see the positive results for so many of you 👏👏
I on the other hand have lost nothing so will have to use the next few weeks before the next bootcamp to koko and work out what I am not going right. No doubt I can maintain which is good but I need to lose, so time to make some hard choices. I will continue to check in as it’s the only reason I have not gone off the rails.

BlackMozart · 20/03/2018 19:51

And as others have said a big thank you to all those who contribute,to running these boot camps.

Well done Ben ! Great progress.

Rshard · 20/03/2018 19:52

Well done ben and welcome cheese

Destinysdaughter · 20/03/2018 20:00

Myliferevolvesaroundcheese the great thing about this way of eating is that it has so many other benefits apart from the weight loss. Once you lose the fear of eating fat ( which we have had drummed into us is a bad thing ), you'll find that it's not the enemy and is a healthy and natural way to eat. I'm glad you have had positive reactions already. Stick with it, and us as there's lots of support and advice on this thread!

Also if you look at the first Bootcamp thread in Jan, there's lots of good advice for pp just starting out.

Destinysdaughter · 20/03/2018 20:06

Apologies for pp who have already seen this. I posted it at the end of the last thread and consequently not many pp saw it. It's something low carb I made on Sunday and I'm curious to know what pp think it is...! 😀

Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!
Myliferevolvesaroundcheese · 20/03/2018 20:25

Thank you destinysdaughter. Weight loss is a very nice side effect!! I’m really hoping it can keep my brain in check Grin.

Wicked, I’ll go have a mooch at that now. Thanks again.

Grimbles · 20/03/2018 20:33

Evening all! Egg fast going well. Have had 7 eggs, 70g of butter, 15g of mayo and 50g of cheddar. 1418 calories in 82% fat 18% protein.

Over 3l of water in as well.

Regards: my trip - not sure if I can take my own snacks, I'm going long haul to a far east place and am staying at a site in the middle of nowhere so can only have what's provided, which tends to be rice/noodle based. Not impossible but very difficult to stay on plan

Destinysdaughter · 20/03/2018 20:38

Grimbles I think if you're away and you have to eat what's there, just accept it and then be strict when you come back

I'm going on hols to Morocco in April and I won't be eating low carb but I'll try and eat healthily and see what the damage is when I come back and get right back on it!

Destinysdaughter · 20/03/2018 20:40

Myliferevolvesaroundcheese if you're new to this his the original Atkins book is good on explaining the principles of this WOE. Diet Doctor is good too and Pinterest has tons of recipes!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 20/03/2018 21:17

Hi, Cheese

Cracking results, Ben - hope you're going to stick around.

Grimbles, kudos for the egg thing - is it easier than it sounds?

I am typing this from a beautifully warm house, having just had a hot bath. Wriggling with pleasure. 5 days in sub-zero temps are ok when you're bothying, but trying to live normal life... let's just say the bathroom routine became a bit skimpy. As did the cooking. In fact, as did anything that needed doing more than 3 feet away from the stove. Bed was only bearable with the addition of 5 extra blankets, 2 cats, and 1 hot water bottle.

BrassicaBabe · 20/03/2018 21:30

Does anyone have a super quick veg dish they can suggest? (Sorry, not spinach please) I get in late on a Tuesday and don't fancy eggs. Last week I had courgette strips with shallots sweated in butter with pesto and cream. But that's too much faff. This week I've had some home made coleslaw. Not high carb clearly, but with onion and carrot it could be lower!

BrassicaBabe · 20/03/2018 21:30

Glad you are warm again athel. That sounds miserable in this weather!
