Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

BIWI · 19/03/2018 07:19

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

Hello Mum! And Destiny you’ve inspired me to book a holiday! Three nights in Cornwall rather than anything so exotic as Marrakesh but the prospect of being elsewhere, even if just for a few days and even with two tiny people in tow is very exciting. It’s at the end of June so am tentatively thinking I might manage to drop almost another stone by then if I KOKO, which would hopefully mean I’d be firmly a size 16 rather than an 18 which would be great. Saw my lowest weight ever since having DS2 on the scales this morning which is very motivating!

MumOfAPickle · 18/04/2018 10:24

Thank you! Feels very good to be back Halo I am so on it!

I was very interested to read about the different exercises everyone does and I’m intrigued by the weight training. I get very bored and therefore de-motivated by a lot of exercise so I’m always looking for something new. I did the c25k a couple of years ago so I do get out for a shuffle run most weeks but I don’t love it like some seem to. I also do clubbercise once a week which I really do love. I’d also recommend Fit in 5 for those who have sky tv. It’s a nice young chap called Marvin and there’s 3 series worth of 5 minute work outs which range from cardio to strength based. Being so short helps me as it’s hard for even me to come up with excuses not to do 5 minutes!

Great nsv on the skirt athel I have so many nice summer clothes that I want to get back into

Bluntness100 · 18/04/2018 10:42

Ooh nsv here. I've a pair of tailored cigarette pants for work that I love, but they are a size 14. They are very small made, the model in the pic is wearing an 8 and they ar skin tight on her. You know the look. So last night I decided to order a smaller size and hummed and hawed over the 12 or the 10 due to models image, thinking well I know they are small made, and if she's squeezing into an 8, I'm prob a 12 and the 14 although not flattering, are hardly huge on me.

So I went for the 10 and just got them delivered. When I took them out the bag I thought, ah shit, I knew I should have went for the 12 I'm never getting these on over my arse.

And not only did I get them on, they fit perfectly. I'm really quite surprised and a bit chuffed actually. Stood there looking in the mirror thinking "fuck me they fit". 😊

Eolian · 18/04/2018 10:44

I'm intrigued by the weight training too, MumOfAPickle. Might have a go!

I think I might have persuaded a rl friend to try LCHF. She's got a lot of weight to lose and is beginning to get some health problems as a result. I didn't do the 'hard sell', but she's got to that point where she feels she has to do something and I think I convinced her to give it a try! She's not an MNer and I think Bootcamp would scare her off Grin but I see her most days and can be her LC buddy if she wants!

Eolian · 18/04/2018 10:49

Impressive, Bluntness - you must have been very chuffed! Btw, I'm assuming NSV means 'non-scales victory'? Not sure that phrase had been coined yet when I first did BC! I still haven't made it as far as getting batteries for my scales. Are there many non-weighing BCers? I'm guessing that not weighing is a good idea if you tend to get unhealthily obsessed with the scales, but I don't, so I think visible numerical progress might encourage me!

Eolian · 18/04/2018 10:59

Gah - just realised I did have batteries after all. I am 5'6" and 12st 3, which is a LOT heavier than I was last time I weighed myself. I reckon I've put on 1.5 stone in the last 2 years, slowly and steadily. I reckon 10.5 stone is a good target for now. I swore I'd never go back to the weight I was before dc2, so it's good I'm taking conrol now - I was definitely heading in that direction!

Bluntness100 · 18/04/2018 11:31

Yup, non scale victory, you got it.

I'm not sure actually on the non weighers, I may be the only one. I think most folks use a mix of scales and clothes/measurements.

For me, weighing becomes a bit of a roller coaster. If the scale is dropping I feel great. If it stalls I start to think screw this and it can put me in a bad mood.

I've no idea what I weigh. I'm five eight, I'd guess about ten stone.🤷‍♀️

Twoo · 18/04/2018 13:41

I made a gluten free almond, egg & lemon cake. This is what I found this morning Shock

It looks very furry. I’m assumming it’s a strain of mound.

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Suffice to say it went into the trash can Grin

Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!
MumOfAPickle · 18/04/2018 15:49

Ooh Twoo that looks interesting!! A new life form perhaps? What was in the cake? And how long did it take to get like that?

Twoo · 18/04/2018 16:49

Hi Mum’ about 3 or 4 days. It’s gluten free almond, lemon & egg cake. I did a version with a sugar substitute. Freaked me out a bit as I’m always wiping sides down etc. And it’s kind of attached itself through the glass dome. How can food make fur Grin

ilovecherries · 18/04/2018 17:07

That happened to me with Nigella's almond and orange cake. I think it's just because it's such a wet cake. Obviously meant to be eaten quickly!

Rshard · 18/04/2018 17:14

Hello all, left my phone at home today so haven’t been around. Reunited now!

Welcome back mumofa.

Fab news in the skirt athle and the trousers blunt!

All the talk of weight training prompted me to ask dh to do me a little programme, my plan is to do it on non running days. We will see.....

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun

TerfsUp · 18/04/2018 18:00

Evening, all!

Congrats, athelstane and bluntness. Those are great victories.

Rshard, I hope you are able to take advantage of the lovely sunny weather to have a good run.

Twoo · 18/04/2018 19:44

Yes it is a bit of a wet cake isn’t it. You might be right!

Rshard · 18/04/2018 20:02

I certainly will be terfsup!

I’ve never seen mould like that twoo. What a shame, the cake looks lovely

Twoo · 18/04/2018 20:05

Me neither. It was nice and when I make it again I better make sure it gets eaten up. But that fur really put be about. Had the platter in bleach nearly all day!

Bluntness100 · 18/04/2018 21:26

Ooh twoo. That's not pretty. Looks like some type of alien life form. 😱

Plantlover · 18/04/2018 21:36

Twoo

Can you post the reciepe for your lemon cake please?

DianaT1969 · 19/04/2018 06:27

Does anyone else notice a difference with eyesight? Yesterday I was waiting at a hospital for my best friend's operation to finish so that I could take her home if she was released. It was a lomg day, and in the evening I had a carb meal in the canteen. It's my first carby meal for around 6 months. Chicken, new potatoes and curry sauce. Boy do my eyes ache this morning! I wear glasses for reading and the computer and I think my eyes improved on this WOE. The prescription has felt too strong. Looking forward to getting straight back on it.

BerylStreep · 19/04/2018 08:46

Hello all, have been off grid for a bit as I have been very busy in work preparing for a promotion competition. Cue lots of time at home feeling quite stressed doing displacement activities (mainly eating off plan) rather than just sitting down and doing the work I needed to do to prepare.

I'm pleased to say that yesterday I was back on plan completely, apart from a bottle of champagne, to celebrate my promotion 🍾☺️

BerylStreep · 19/04/2018 08:46

I also braved the scales this morning, and I'm up a couple of pounds, but not too bad.

Rshard · 19/04/2018 09:03

Congratulations on the promotion beryl

I’ve never come across that side effect dianaT!

Bluntness100 · 19/04/2018 09:14

Morning all!

Congrats on the promotion beryl

I got a comical "man" comment yesterday, lovely colleague " well every time I see you blunt you get littler and littler" 😄

Strikes me as weird how folks adapt to you gaining weight, they forget what uou looked like before, and it seems to be quite fast too.

Also made me think about size, Ive a narrow frame, narrow shoulders and hips, I even have to get narrow fitting shoes, so being a size ten for me is not the same as for many other women. I still have a layer of chub, you've all seen my tummy, if I sit down I have a little roll of fat, boobs are a d cup. But my friend who is about an inch taller is very very thin, to the extent I've heard comments raised with concern, but she's also a size ten and struggles to fill an a cup due to her low body weight. However she has a broad frame, so she looks way thinner than I do, I don't look thin at all, but she can sometimes struggle to put a size ten jacket on because it won't fit across her shoulders.

It's weird how two women, about the same weight, dress size and height, can look very different indeed.

Eolian · 19/04/2018 10:52

I've put on a pound since yesterday Hmm. However, I suspect it's fluctuating water levels. I seem to be peeing for Britain today (TMI). I'm also remembering that my weaknesses on LCHF are too much dairy and not enough water, so will keep an eye on those!

Nan0second · 19/04/2018 10:58

Fitting in lots of old clothes now which is triggering a lot of comments about my “Huge weight loss really quickly” (9kg as of this morning since mid jan so not that much really!).
Lots of compliments, which is nice. Just need to KOKO and then start thinking about whether my 2nd target (60kg) is what I want or whether 58kg (my pre pregnancy weight from 2014) is going to be my absolute final target. The reason I picked 62 then 60 was I thought that 58 was totally unrealistic and not do-able at all. Now I’m 61kg, it’s suddenly feels like a realistic aim.
