Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

That’s a brilliant NSV terfs!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 16/04/2018 11:43

Venus - Stunning!

Destiny - am so jealous! Sounds like you're having a fab time! You'll have to take all of us next time, though, ok?????

Leapin - The running should help the tummy, hips and bum. At least, it has for me. I'm also hoping hula hooping trims my waist further, though it tends to be so bruised after a session that any improvement is hidden by the multicoloured camouflage!

I need a kick up the bum. Honestly, when will I learn? I really need to get back on the LC wagon and get rid of the pounds I've put back on. You'd think I'd learn, though. I had a major carb-out at the weekend and, subsequently, have been feeling ill. Hungover and tired, even though I only had a couple of whiskies all weekend. It's the sugar that does for me.

A friend asked me if I wanted to go shopping with her on Sat. Fort William, aka A Major Expedition to SHOPS!!!!! Really only did supermarkets, Morrisons, Lidl and M&S, but I went slightly mad buying treats. Mainly for DP, but, of course, I've been munching them too.

But I will STOP. No more. I need to get back on the WOE. It's also not helped that I hadn't run in over a week until this morning, so I've really been feeling fat and unhealthy. But today is a new day. I've done some exercise, and lunch is definitely LCHF friendly. I just need to control myself once I get home. Wish me luck!

TerfsUp · 16/04/2018 11:46

Thanks, RShard! I am wearing a dress today that used to be a bit snug but is now pleasingly loose.

Rshard · 16/04/2018 13:01

At a great feeling isn’t it terf

I know a few of us are runners, I’m a bit of a plodder but in the last few weeks I’ve found I’m actually speeding up. I did a new, longer route last night and was weirdly pleased that overall I’d maintained my pace. And I went out in the rain, which I would never do so I’m concluding that I’m really enjoying running at the moment.

Eolian · 16/04/2018 14:15

I am a bit of a plodder runner too, or was until I got plantar fasciitis a couple of years ago. It's finally a lot better, so I'm now tentatively doing some short runs with walk breaks and doing lots of icing and stretching afterwards. It's great to get back to it!

Eolian · 16/04/2018 14:21

I know I'm barely a day in, but I'm beginning to remember the upsides of LC, in particular the feeling that my appetite was 'in neutral' a lot of the time - neither full nor hungry, just not thinking about food.

Also, I've been feeling sluggish, brain-foggy and a bit puffy-faced lately. Could that be from too many carbs? Hoping it's that rather than peri-menopause, so that LC might sort it out!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 16/04/2018 14:39

Eolian before I started this I had the runs every morning, and spent most of the day with brain fog. I had no idea what it was about, and nor did I link the two. It wasn't until about a month into this when I was out with DP and, thinking that lunch, at least, was not going to be LCHF friendly I decided to go completely off piste and have a coffee with syrup. 1/2 hour later I almost couldn't see as the brain fog was so bad. About an hour after that I NEEDED the loo. That was when I realised that both had cleared up on this woe.

My doctor didn't believe me, but I don't really care. Some carbs I'm ok with but some I react to terribly. So why I decided to give in this weekend I don't know, as I'm suffering now for my sinning!

Eolian · 16/04/2018 14:55

Hmm - interesting! Well, I look forward to the fog lifting! One thing I'm really bad at is remembering to drink enough water. I remember that's supposed to be really important on LC, plus it probably helps with the brain fog too.

BrassicaBabe · 16/04/2018 15:08

That's a beautiful dress venus. Congratulations!

It's my birthday today, I'm wearing size 10 jacket that was a present AND I saw 9.10 on the scales this morning!

If I see 9.10 on the the scales for two more mornings then I'm done! Officially in maintenance mode. (Although find myself contemplating 9.7 just to be safe! But I used that reasoning to get to 9.10 when I was 10. So maybe time to stop 🤔)

Thanks for LCHF and C25K I'm the skinniest I've ever been by about 11lb!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 16/04/2018 15:43

That's brilliant, Brassica! Well done!!!!!!

Rshard · 16/04/2018 15:47

Good to hear you’re getting back into your running eolian.

Wow brassica, that’s fabulous!

Rayna37 · 16/04/2018 16:08

Just discovered DH finished the Christmas Cake! Outraged but I suppose also relieved it's gone, there was far too much cake slippage in the last week, always the home made too good to turn down sort. I'd just decided I was going to have what I thought would be the last bit Grin I had wrapped it up and put it away in Jan and Feb so there'd be some left once my strictest period of dieting was over.

Also had a glass of wine on Saturday despite my "dry" April. We were out and had a offer which included wine. Seemed daft to deny myself it for arbitrary reasons when a glass of red is totally fine compared to the cake I'd been cheating with!

Two weeks to go before my Scotland trip so need to be strict.

Loving all the good news and positivity today.

ilovecherries · 16/04/2018 17:22

I bought size 12 trousers in Zara! I have never even been in Zara before :)

Bluntness100 · 16/04/2018 18:34

Ooh. Congrats everyone, some excellent victories here,

Cherries, Zara I think come up small...so if you're in a 12 there, it is probably more like a ten elsewhere.

Eolian · 16/04/2018 18:42

Wow - you are all very inspiring! I got down to a size 12 when I LCed before (and again when I was eating super low fat due to gallstones). My 'normal' size is a 14-16 but I had been heading into 18 territory between my two pregnancies a decade ago. Got back to a 14 through running and vague healthy eating, but have always struggled to reach and maintain a weight I was at all happy with.

What are the BC rules on booze...? Must check the allowed list. My problem is that my favourite drink is real ale. Not exactly LC!

Bluntness100 · 16/04/2018 19:14

You'll have to give thr real ale a miss.

Try to reduce alcohol, but if you do drink, drink red wine, or spirits like vodka with a sugar free mixer. Your body will burn the booze before it burns fat. So fat burning goes on hold till it's gone from your system..

The other issue with booze is it can make you hold some water weight for the next couple of days. It's just a temp blip though.

When you drink, your control slips, and you're also more likely to cheat and eat something you shouldn't..

I can drink and not be tempted to cheat, the issue is the next day I'm hungry and lethargic, so although I don't cheat again, I do always eat more in that day.

And lastly for me personally. It negatively impacts my sleep. I wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/04/2018 19:22

I've been away for a few days, so apologies for belated comments, but...

Fabulous dress, Venus! You look wonderful.

Hi, Eolian, no arguments had with me Grin - I did the same, lost the weight / loved the eating, and then just fell by the wayside for reasons I can't even remember now (but suspect were linked to anger and discouragement at work).

Cherries, I feel your annoyance - last party I went to the organiser had been so sweet and arranged special GF etc plate for me, and it was the first to be snaffled before I even arrived. And THAT is probably because it looked like actual, nice, good, tasty food as opposed to yet another limp soggy cardboard sandwich.

Wow, Terf, 18 to 14 in just over 3 months is quite some achievement. And Time, I know you can do it - if you can do all that running, you can wobble your head over the snacks.

Great going, Brassica - and it won't hurt to see if you can sit at that weight for a bit and see how you feel about it. Reset yourself.

Rayna, I love and fear Christmas cake, because my own is so good (not even apologising for that aggrandising) I eke it out as long as possible. So that's about 3 solid months of eating Christmas cake - one large one, all by myself. Blush

Have been very good with the food while away, but dismal with the wine (parents celebrating and who's going to turn down bottles of Pol Roger). No idea the affect on weight, but will find out tomorrow (dah dah dahhhhhhhh....).

Bluntness100 · 16/04/2018 19:23

Also as for puffy face there is a thing some folks think is called "carb face". Definition "The extra bloat is caused by water retention; as the body isn't getting sufficient fluids from carby food, it hangs on to any extra hydration in areas such as the face and stomach, explaining the extra swelling".

TerfsUp · 16/04/2018 19:32

Thanks, Athelstane. I am thrilled and looking forward to losing the next tranche (size 14 - 12).

Eolian · 16/04/2018 19:43

Lamb chops with ratatouille for me tonight. Rest of the family had pittas with theirs, but I wasn't tempted. I have a feeling tomatoes are a bit carby by strict BC standards though?

Interesting what you say about the carb face, Bluntness. I wonder if it's partly the reduction of water retention on LC that helps lower blood pressure.

Rshard · 16/04/2018 19:53

Well done on the size 12’s from Zara cherries, they definitely are a little on the skimpy side with their sizing.

Rayna37 · 16/04/2018 20:45

Eolian tomatoes not so bad actually but watch out for red and yellow peppers. I'm also missing real ale like you but will be happy to have the odd half pint when I'm maintaining without too much impact... just need to get there first!

I really should try to be stricter because I do have reasonable confidence I can maintain once I'm there. In sniffing distance of 9 stone now, weekly weigh in tomorrow!

Rayna37 · 16/04/2018 20:49

Also on the running front, I've publicly committed to a comeback race for my club a week on Weds! Mainly making up the numbers to try to avoid relegation to a lower division but will be nice to have my first time out in the new club vest which was brought out while I was pregnant last year.

BrassicaBabe · 16/04/2018 20:56

Twatty husband accompanied the kids to buy me chocolate Hmm Yeah, on the day I reach goal. Another Hmmfor the fact that I don't really like chocolate but can still eat too much or the wrong/right variety!

Eolian · 16/04/2018 21:27

How annoying, BrassicaBabe! I wish I didn't like chocolate. It's my number one downfall. There are lots of Easter eggs in my house still, but I shall try not to beg the dc for any of them!
