Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

Hoping it's ok for me to jump in and join the interim chat while waiting to start Bootcamp when it next begins! I did one round of Bootcamp several years back, lost a load of weight, felt great, totally fell off the wagon and got thoroughly disheartened (and fatter). I am guilty of having been stroppy and negative about LC on other diet threads since Blush. I think I was just angry about not being able to just 'eat normally' and stay a sensible weight .

Anyhoo, a few comments (by BIWI among others) on those other threads have made me come to my senses, plus my dad's just lost a few stone, come off his bp meds and reversed his pre-diabetes, all by LCing. If he can do it at 76, so can I. Enough excuses, enough denial, enough ranting at the unfairness of life! Apologies to anyone I've argued with about LC on here. Blush

Grin

I think you'll find we're used to it!

Welcome back, and good luck. I understand only too well the desire to 'eat normally'.

Phew Grin and thank you. The only other way I really successfully lost weight was by getting gallstones. I wouldn't recommend it.

Having a lowish carb day today before starting properly tomorrow. Better buy some batteries for my scales... Hopefully by the time Bootcamp starts, I'll already be back in the swing of this WoE again and a few pounds down. I've been reading through the thread, gaining inspiration from your great results.

Bluntness100 · 15/04/2018 18:43

Welcome.😁

Relatively good day here, all low carb, but didn't make any meals, just grazed. It's not the healthiest way to eat, but meh, just really couldn't be bothered.

Tried crispy kale last night....yum. That might become a bit of a staple for me.🤔

Eolian · 15/04/2018 18:54

Dh is currently making roast chicken thighs with veg curry - yum. I shall avoid the naan. I haven't told him I'm going to do LC yet. He'll go Hmm. However, I'm almost always in charge of the supermarket shop and cooking on weekday evenings, so I should be able to manage family dinners that are LC adaptable for me.

Eolian · 15/04/2018 18:55

Meant to say, that crispy kale sounds nice, Bluntness. Will add it to my list of things to try.

Venus you look fab in your dress!

Greetings from Marrakech, it’s gorgeous weather here, loving get a bit of sun and I swear it makes me look younger!

I was so good on the flight, took cheese, cold sausages and chicken. Last night had a beef tagine which came with carrots and turnips, was yum! Did have fresh orange juice, which I really enjoyed. Did avoid the bread!

Breakfast at the hotel was v carb heavy, was no choice in it, boiled egg with bread, yoghurt and pancakes with honey. There was also chocolate cake but I avoided that!

Whilst I was eating the carbs although it tasted nice, I did have the thought, oh all that hard work is going to be wiped out ina week. However that is not a good way to think as I did lose 17lbs so have proved I can do it!

Bluntness100 · 15/04/2018 19:45

Oh just enjoy your holiday and don't stress about food. And exactly you can lose it again. Life's too short to be spending your holidays trying desperately to avoid stuff.

And I'm very envious. It's been peeing down again here today. Was sure the weather had broken sigh. Had to put the bloody heating back on. 😱

Bluntness100 · 15/04/2018 19:47

Eolian, just avoid the carb bits, my family eat carbs, I just avoid them and have extra veg or salad. When you start to visibly look like you've lost weight the results and why you're doing it become apparent...

Rshard · 15/04/2018 20:13

Welcome eolian! bluntness is right, this woe is so adaptable to family meals, I just ate my bolognaise with courgette spirals instead of the spaghetti that dh and dd had. I think that’s one of the reasons this woe has worked for me.

ASDismynormality · 15/04/2018 20:22

I’m jumping back on again and will catch up with the thread properly tomorrow.
I went to America on holiday for two weeks and ate ALL the carbs- got back yesterday and am back to LCHF!

BlackMozart · 15/04/2018 20:25

Ave thank you. I think you are right I do need to re-set. I just need to get my head sorted out.
Lovely to hear about your holiday destinys. We’ve had one day of warmth where I live and then more rain. Grim. Hoping we’re really in for better weather this week.
Welcome eolian

Made roast dinner for guests. Loads of roasties and yorkshires and mashed plus FLGV+++. And then watched in horror as everyone heaped their plates with green veg as well as everything else THEN didn't eat most of the veg. I was left with tiny portions of sprouts, cabbage, asparagus and broccoli. Feel unreasonably full of rage.

Rayna37 · 15/04/2018 21:32

Oh cherries I feel your pain. Which is one of the reasons why I slightly disagree with those who say cook carbs for family meals but just leave them and have more veg. I generally just cook LCHF meals and let everyone get on with it. Otherwise you're just reinforcing the idea that LCHF is the non-standard option and carbs the norm.

Easy for me to say of course, as my DH is on board and DS too small to know any different. I find visitors surprisingly adaptable, as long as the food is good! I wouldn't expect a vegetarian to cook meat for me.

Nan0second · 15/04/2018 21:37

Venus: congrats on the wedding.
Cherries: that’s so annoying. I’m a bit rude and steal all my veg first when we have guests as they have more options than me!

Interested to hear people’s approaches to holidays. Mines 5 weeks away but I’m starting to ponder!

I reached my original target on Thursday (62kg) so am really pleased (8kg so maybe 17-18lbs lost since mid jan). New target is 60kg. I think I will have maintained this week as although I haven’t fallen off the wagon, I haven’t been quite as strict.

Bluntness100 · 15/04/2018 22:27

Cherries, you need to cook more veg next time 😁

TerfsUp · 15/04/2018 22:27

waves to everyone

Keep up with the good work, one and all. And for those who have gone off-piste - it's not the end of the world! Tomorrow is another day and a great time to return to this woe.

Destinysdaughter · 15/04/2018 23:51

Had an amazing meal tonight in Marrakech, the most delicious assortment of salads and a lamb tagine . Was v surprised to realised that a tagine in Morocco doesn't come with rice or couscous, has just been a huge hunk of meat cooked in a tagine pottery dish! So, apart from the bread that appears on the table, you could actually do LC pretty successfully here. Guess every day's a school day as they say? 😀

Rshard · 16/04/2018 06:51

Did your guests know how you eat cherries?

Well done nan

Marrakesh sounds great destinys

ilovecherries · 16/04/2018 08:12

Yes, they did Rshard. And there really was masses of veg. Actually, wouldn't have minded at all if people had eaten it - it was the taking it then leaving it that pissed me off, when I was left with next to nothing. I shall work on forgiveness Grin

TerfsUp · 16/04/2018 09:48

Destinysdaughter, that sounds amazing. I have always wanted to go to Morocco.

I have an NSV to report: I can now get into a size 14! When I started LCHF in mid-January, I was a size 18. My goal is to be a 10, so that target seems eminently achievable by the end of the year.

LeapinLizards · 16/04/2018 10:34

Ahh, cherries I feel the rage on your behalf. I am a vegetarian and have lost count of the events where the people who eat everything - meat, fish, the lot - scoff lots of the veggie stuff, leaving next to nothing for the vegetarians.

TerfsUp, very good news indeed - congrats. NSVs are fab! Lovely dress Venus - you look amazing. Congrats on the wedding and enjoy your honeymoon.

Bluntness100 · 16/04/2018 10:43

You have to be a bit more pushy cherries, and not serve yourself last.

We have a veggie friend in our group, I always point out the veggie food is for them and anyone else can have what's left. It's weird as fuck because no one else is veggie, but for some reason, they will all take some of the veggie food, even though they can clearly see I haven't cooked them all two meals. I do now cook way more than one veggie can eat, so they can all have some as well as their normal meal.

It's much easier though if you're the host and you're pointing it out on behalf of someone else. Less easy if you're the host to say "ffs leave me some".

Destinysdaughter · 16/04/2018 10:48

TerfsUp wow that's really inspiring! I was a 16 and now a 14 ( tho if I carry on with all these carbs on hol, I might not be able to fit into my size 14 jeans for the flight home! ) 😀

Rshard · 16/04/2018 10:51

Yes, it’s the leaving of it that would have annoyed me.
