Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

BIWI · 19/03/2018 07:19

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

Oh the good news. NSV.. I was wearing a pair of black size ten skinny jeans I haven't worn since the summer. I remember trying them on after my cast came off and they were too tight, proper muffin top and camel toe job and I just shoved them back in the drawer and didn't think any more about it. As you do. Then put on even more weight. Sigh. So didn't attempt it again till yesterday.

Last night I could pull the waist band out by about an inch and the legs were not over tight, not loose but enough room that you can move very easily.

It's weird how pleased you feel just to be wearing something you used to wear all the time, 😳

qumquat · 08/04/2018 08:28

Just wanted to say hi and thank you. I've been lurking a lot and started eating lchf about 6 weeks ago. To my shock my insomnia and IBS have almost gone, Im much less anxious and I've lost 9lbs! I've been using the book 'Real Meal Revolution' for recipes and ideas and I highly recommend it.

I have one question: what does FGLV stand for?

TerfsUp · 08/04/2018 08:56

Fuck Load Green Vegetables.

Rayna37 · 08/04/2018 09:14

Just wanted to show off my amazing breakfast from yesterday! It's very local so we'll definitely be back; not too often though as ££ and I couldn't resist sharing the sourdough which came with DH's full English!
Also cooked some venison steaks for dinner which I bought 75% off in Waitrose, with the last of the Christmas red cabbage from the freezer, some leeks and some mashed swede. I'd been a bit ConfusedHmmShockat the venison's full price but the quality was amazing. Mashed swede also a hit with the baby!

Checking in. Glad to hear the tummy problems are abating Athel. Belated happy birthday prettybird. Hooray for NSVs bluntness. I had similar yesterday when I put on pair of cropped jeans that are usually muffin top central. They fit! Very pleasing. My planned egg fast went awry on day one so not been doing it. I've lost some of the weight from Easter but now stalled at 9st for several days. Several days is nothing, of course but I'm so close to target, I can smell it. Next mini target is breaking the 9stone marker so I'm into the 8s.

TerfsUp · 08/04/2018 09:28

That looks wonderful, Rayna.

Rshard · 08/04/2018 10:09

Also checking in.
That breakfast looks awesome rayna
Fab nsv’s bluntness
That’s great progress qumquat

BerylStreep · 08/04/2018 10:48

LeapinLizards what are these cropped jeans you speak of? We're still in the depths of winter! When is it ever going to end?

DianaT1969 · 08/04/2018 10:57

NSV - I went clothes shopping yesterday and size 12s and mediums fitted in every store. I was in a 16, large or XL when I started this WOE back in October. I'm 5'4" and small framed, so I didn't carry the extra weIght well. Now my confidence has sky-rocketed. If I ever eat something off plan I get straight back to LCHF without feelings of guilt. I just know that I prefer to eat this way because it's delicious and I feel healthier. Being free of cravings and sugar cravings is liberating.
Thanks to everyone who posts. I lurk and it motivates me to read your NSVs and SVs too.

TerfsUp · 08/04/2018 11:01

Can someone please tell me what STS means?

And, welcome, DianaT1969.

Rshard · 08/04/2018 11:03

Stayed the same terfsup

Super nsv’s and welcome diana

AthelstaneTheUnready · 08/04/2018 11:16

Nice NSV, Blunt - I also fitted into some size 10 jeans yesterday, although there was a slight muffin top, I didn't have to wriggle to get them on. It's so nice to get your clothes back, isn't it? Grin

Good going, qumquat!

Beryl, we are indeed. I have just hung the washing out (as it's briefly not raining) and my fingers are aching with the cold.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 08/04/2018 11:21

Hi, Diana - it's great to be able to have one [ thing ] and then stop, definitely.

Yesterday I went so far off-piste I woke up in Holland. But I am learning to roll with it. Clearly it would be better not to break out, but every time I do it's only for one thing, or one meal, and then I'm back to normal. It may mean I'm not losing as quickly as I might, but I am still losing. And this, in fact, may be my long-term normal way of eating - eat well, and every now and again have something luxurious.

Bluntness100 · 08/04/2018 11:37

Well done diana.

Athel, yes, it is.😁

Not sure if anyone else is like me. I find the whole getting bigger and shrinking a surprise. When I put on weight I'm genuinely surprised I'm bigger and when I lose weight I'm genuinely surprised I'm smaller. It's like somewhere in my head I can't seem to link my diet to my physical size. I'm clearly a total weirdo. 😳

TerfsUp · 08/04/2018 11:45

Thank you, rshard. I've been racking my brains so your response is much appreciated.

LeapinLizards · 08/04/2018 12:48

berylstreep I know, I did regret wearing cropped jeans as the day passed - I was freezing! - but I was so delighted that I could fit into them that I stuck with it. Back to full length today, though.

StuntNun · 08/04/2018 14:38

I had my first experience of Brazilian food today at a Preto restaurant and it's great for low carb. Lots of different meats carved at your table and as much veg and salad as you like. I had lamb, beef, pork and chicken in a single meal greedyguts. Highly recommended for low carb, not great for vegetarians though.

Rshard · 08/04/2018 15:24

Sounds lovely stuntnun, is preto a restaurant chain?

I made lamb and aubergine curry from Jamie Oliver’s 5 ingredients book. I didn’t think I liked lamb, turns out I do! One of dh’s colleagues took leftovers i and dh tried it.

BIWI · 08/04/2018 18:00

Afternoon all. Back from my trip to Brazil, and I wish I could say it was as low carb as @StuntNun's restaurant! I was at the mercy of the facility I was working in, and although their hospitality was amazing, it came with a FLCarbs! And the hotel restaurant had very little that I could choose from. The staff spoke very little English, and as my Portuguese is also very limited Grin I just had to roll with it.

My jeans are decidedly much tighter as a consequence, so next week is time to get tough.

NSV inspired by all of you trying on old jeans and summer trousers: I'm back in mine! Regular (i.e. non-stretchy) jeans had been eluding me but I have now managed to consign my last pair of maternity jeans to the cupboard and get into almost everything from the wardrobe. Whoop!

BIWI · 08/04/2018 22:19

Whoop, indeed! Flowers

My arse looks like the Churchill bulldog. Just saying.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 09/04/2018 06:12

Welcome back, BIWI!

Rayna, there's still a lot in my wardrobe that makes me look like 3lbs of sausage in a 2lb skin, but almost every week another thing fits and so becomes available again. Unfortunately so far it's mostly my fancy work clothes - my outdoor gear is less forgiving. In fact, I haven't been able to face trying on my stalwart, favourite, perfect pair of walking trousers yet. I'm going to wait until I'm under 9 stone to avoid disappointment. Grin

Cherries, I strongly suspect that it doesn't. Unless you've tied a bell round it?

A surgeon explained (at great length, which I assume is why I've forgotten most of it) to me once that skin does recover fully, it's just it takes so much longer because it doesn't have any 'fibres' as such that you can train, in the way you train muscle. It just has to gradually adjust. He said that if after a year (I think it was) there were still prominent folds and bags, that was because there was still fat in there, albeit more loosely stored, and so more weight still to be lost. I think he may have been talking about people far larger than you ever were though, so not sure if it applies.

Rshard · 09/04/2018 06:30

That’s brilliant rayna

Can’t quite get my head around that description ilove?! Flat?

That’s reassuring athle, I have some droopy skin at the top of my thighs, so good to know it has hope!

Bluntness100 · 09/04/2018 06:37

Morning all

Welcome back biwi and congrats rayna, that must feel good.

Cherries, I'm sure it doesn't, but you made me laugh 😁

Back in the gym for me today. Had a rest day yesterday, and as is the way when I'm hungover and tired, I ate too much yesterday. All low carb but I was grazing and picking at stuff.

I also had some chocolate cravings last night. Was sat on the sofa thinking fuck it, I want chocolate. I didn't, I rode it out, as I knew it was the hangover/tiredness talking, but was still having that mental conversation with myself "eat the chocolate, fuck it, no don't eat the chocolate you've done all this work, nah just have the chocolate". 🤣
