Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

Flat. With a lot of folds and a sad looking expression, Rshard.

Yes, there is def still fat behind the skin Athel, and actually my skin is holding up remarkably well everywhere else, given my age and the degree of weight loss. My boobs are fine, my stomach is a bit crinkly but not much, my back is fine, arms aren't too bad, face is fine. Arse and upper thighs are by far the worst, mainly because my bum has gone completely. Not in width but in a side view is completely flat. And I now have a thigh gap because the area previously know as thighs has slipped down about 5 inches.

ilovecherries · 09/04/2018 08:46

But actually, look at this. Grin I don't really care that much about my arse or my hair, or anything else really, because I have my life back, and that's priceless. From where I was to where I am. I had long given up any hope of seeing myself with a healthy BMI. My next target is to see the 10s on the scale, so six pounds till that.

Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!
Rshard · 09/04/2018 09:28

Oh ilove, that made me smile but your positivity shines through!

Rayna37 · 09/04/2018 09:50

Congratulations cherries you did it! The greatest SV of all I think, hitting that, for anyone who has had so far to come.

ilovecherries · 09/04/2018 10:32

Sent the photo to DH, he suggested I buy a new wig to celebrate. So I have :). My neighbours at home know about my alopecia, so they don't think anything about my regular look changes, but where we are living short term in Cumbria I have completely challenged the neighbours. They see me with a silver spikey crop, followed by auburn beach waves, then a neat highlighted bob, sometimes all in the same day Grin. One asked my husband if I had an identical twin Grin. The less polite ones probably just think he has a string of women. Especially given how fat I was before as well.

Rshard · 09/04/2018 11:39

Ha ha I like that ilove, what’s the new wig like?

I’ve weighed in this morning, 3lbs off so that’s my Easter gain plus an extra lb gone, so very pleased!

ilovecherries · 09/04/2018 14:43

It’s an ombré wavy stacked bob. Hair I could never have achieved :)

Rshard · 09/04/2018 15:44

Sounds lovely, we’ll obviously need a photo.

BrassicaBabe · 09/04/2018 16:35

I need to shift a stubborn couple of lbs before I can declare goal weight achieved. So I'm having a go at an egg fast. Only planning on 3 days. Already not loving it. 🤮 Let's see if I can hold out..:.

Bluntness100 · 09/04/2018 16:44

Congrats cherries that's actually a massive achievement!!!

I think what I like about this woe is you can have the occasional fall of the wagon, get right back on the horse and still lose.

I'm still getting smaller, albeit at a slower pace, this morning I put on a pair of chinos I bought that I had sized up in as wanted to be looser like the model, when I got them about a month or six weeks ago, they were quite tight and I was pissed off. Assumed they were small made. Again as you do. I put them on this morning and they are decidedly loose. I was genuinely a little surprised.Confused

On other news there is a mouse living in my gym. I put a mouse trap down and sprayed rodent detterant (I live rurally so have this stuff to hand!) after I saw the little bugger run across the floor (clearly also after I finished shitting myself) and it walked straight back in, despite the smelly deterrent, past the mouse trap and back to where it was living. Very nonchalant it was too. 😱

BrassicaBabe · 09/04/2018 17:46

Nope. Seriously cannot do an egg fast. Just an hour past dinner and I could seriously throw the lot up. Having to have a little lie down till it passes....

ilovecherries · 09/04/2018 19:54

I couldn't do it either, Brassica. I'm very compliant with this woe, but egg fasting was a step way too far for me.

Rayna37 · 09/04/2018 19:58

I didn't mind the egg fast and my weird DH positively enjoyed it! I started wanting (and eating) extra food like veg but I wasn't at all sick of eggs themselves.

lizard202 · 09/04/2018 20:01

I may need an egg fast, does anyone have a link to the rules? Combination of holiday and kids Easter egg has meant a FLC 😩😩 I have tighter clothes and had the worst stomach pains and bloating the last few days and now have no desire to ever eat carbs again. As from tomorrow back to boot camp rules ...can't wait 😋

Destinysdaughter · 09/04/2018 20:02

I put on a pound this week, but think that's cos I had a rare night out on the town and drank 5 glasses of Prossecco! However on the way home pp wanted to stop at Macdonalds and I only had chicken nuggets. 😀 Next morning I REALLY wanted a bacon sandwich but didn't have one. I'm on holiday next Sat to Marrakech, I'm not going to do LC but will try and just eat healthily. I'm worried I'll put on half a stone! I've only got ten lbs to lose so not overly concerned but wondered if anyone had any advice?

Also my DP is getting a bit fed up of me being on this diet, I've said I'm not going to stop till I've reached my goal weight but I think he thinks I'll just go back to normal afterwards and I really don't want to! He loves food, makes lots of cakes, biscuits, ice cream and bread and I think I put on a stone in the last year since we've been together. I really don't want to be that heavy again, I'm so much happier being at a healthy weight!

BrassicaBabe · 09/04/2018 20:07

lizard I'm on my phone and each time I click the link it opens the pesky app! But go to google, stick in "egg fast Mumsnet" and click the first entry. Thread title "...blah blah...21st July". It's Stuntnun's post from 2014!

Rayna37 · 09/04/2018 20:45

Destiny my tips for holidays not saying I always follow myself are to avoid really sugary stuff: desserts, drinks, and ice cream unless it's really really good stuff and accept your savoury meals may be carbier than you'd like. As for your DP, my perspective is that this really is a way of eating, the correct way, that is increasingly being recognised as such and not just a "diet". My DH broadly follows it and he's never had to lose weight in all the time I've known him, he just believes in the science and the results. So maybe start stealthily drip feeding Stuntnun's (and other sources) science and see if you can convert him? Saying that, if I cooked with/for a vegan who tried to convert me they'd get short shrift. Or someone who didn't like veg, or was a picky eater, etc Grin
However I am currently reading "Raising Superheroes" which is the kid's version of the Real Meal Revolution by the same authors, with a view to weaning and raising a LCHF family, it's really interesting reading. I don't think it's easily available here yet, I had to get my sister to buy it in South Africa for me!

AthelstaneTheUnready · 09/04/2018 20:52

Cherries, that's an ace photo, well worth a wig, and another vote for seeing it, please. Grin

Bluntness, hesitate to say it don't want to encourage chocolate in the house but cadbury's buttons in one of those humane traps works every time for me. I don't have mice in the sense that they voluntarily move in, but I occasionally have a mouse that Fatboy brings in for me and then just releases in front of me wherever I am.

Brassica, I struggle to eat eggs on their own - makes me nauseous - but add anything else to them and I've found they're ok, even if it's only a tiny bit of green stuff (asparagus, or spinach).

Fab news for today: my first housemartin has come home! I hope his mates are not too far behind. There's usually a colony of about 30 to 40, with 7 nests outside my bedroom window - I love hearing their chatter first thing in the morning, and last thing at night when they're settling down.

Bluntness100 · 09/04/2018 21:47

Athel, I have the poison traps, I know it's awful, but little field mice move in and they cause a lot of damage. However, yes this one casually strolled past it sigh.

That's great news on the hòusemartins, spring is definitely on its way

Anyways, I've been good today, made a pork steak casserole thing for dinner and it was really quite nice.

Destinysdaughter · 10/04/2018 06:54

Rayna37 thanks for those tips and Grin at the vegan analogy!

EeeSheWasThin · 10/04/2018 07:54

@lizard202

If you didn’t find the egg fast rules, StuntNun posted them on this thread - 27 March 11:47

Have printed it out in case I get desperate! Im a bit worried though as I eat a lot of eggs and if I do the egg fast I may never want to eat an egg again.

VenusStarr · 10/04/2018 11:01

Happy to say I'm at my target weight! Wedding is on Friday and I've just picked up my dress. This morning's weigh in I was 63.6kg from 67.7kg start weight. I even had a slice of pizza last night so wasn't expecting that :)

Well done to us all! I'm still lurking and seeing how everyone is getting on :)

Rshard · 10/04/2018 11:16

That’s fantastic venus! Well done and I hope you have a wonderful day on Friday

AthelstaneTheUnready · 10/04/2018 11:24

Hoorah!!!! Fantastic news, Venus.

I've been bobbing about between 9, and 9.2 ever since the 'end' of bootcamp. Venus has just inspired me to go strict again for a week - see if I can't crack that interim goal.

Really pleased about Friday, Venus. Grin

Sorry, just realised I kept repeating your name Blush - shouldn't just blurt-type my thoughts Blush
