Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

ilovecherries - you certainly didn't look saggy - you looked very trim Smile

ilovecherries · 30/03/2018 20:07

Thanks very kind of you prettybird and I think exercise has held it pretty much at bay till now but I do suddenly seem to have skin that isn't attached to anything. On a more positive note - I took my shaven head into Dior and asked for a bold makeover that would allow me to rock the baldness on days I didn't want to wear hair. It was a young woman and she was absolutely amazing. A really good MUA and not just a salesperson who'd learned a set look. I looked fantastic, if I say do myself :). My eyes filled with tears at one point at the transformation and she gave me a hug. I bought a mascara and a foundation but it really wasn't a sales pitch at all. She basically said 'everyone's got blusher and eyeshadow at home, the trick is learning what to do with it'. I do wear make up regularly anyway but she really ramped it up.

Hi all still KOKO! Don't think I've lost anything this week as I've been eating low carb blueberry muffins for breakfast and also having low carb Ryvita crackers with pate at lunchtime. Also drank too much wine!

Having a dinner party with DP tomorrow and doing:

Mushroom pate ( homemade ) with bread for guests and crackers/crudités for me

Nut roast ( as one guest is vegetarian) and chicken filled with marscapone thyme, parsley and garlic for me

Roasted veg

Lemon and blueberry low carb cake made with almond flour, cream and sour cream ( made it before, yum )

Cheese

And prob lots of Prosecco and red wine! 😀🍷

ilovecherries · 30/03/2018 20:08

Which a bald head needs!

Destinysdaughter · 30/03/2018 20:11

ilovecherries what a great story, so glad you had such a positive experience, you've been such a great inspiration on this thread as you've been through so much but you've got such a resilient spirit and coped so well with the shit that life has thrown at you. Bloody well done to you and KOKO! 💜🍷💐

YoLoHogwomanay · 30/03/2018 20:23

ilove lovely to hear about your makeover. How does one go about doing that? I have never had one!

The makeup women in department stores scare the shit out of me and they are so baked and caked and overmade that I don't trust their judgment

YoLoHogwomanay · 30/03/2018 20:25

FFS MNHQ just add an 'edit post' button, why don't you????

My strikethru fails are embarrassing.

That sounds amazing cherries I bet you can really pull it off, especially with those amazing eyebrows.

Thanks for the good wishes on the snow. DH came in the end and has been spending time in the town and joined us for lunch on the mountain a couple of days. It's worked out well actually as poor DD has had a migraine all week and hasn't been able to ski, so he has been able to look after her. I've met some fantastic people on my trip. I just need to get back on the straight and narrow once I get back home.

Plantlover · 30/03/2018 21:11

Destiny

Can you tell me more about the low carb ryvita

prettybird · 30/03/2018 22:10

Which Dior counter did you go to, ilovecherries ? JL, HoF or somewhere else?

I had a bad experience at JL at the Dior counter (hence my dad buying me the Chanel Coromandel around the corner) but had a good experience with a lovely young lady at the Dior counter in Fraser's. It was a different Dior lady in JL on Monday.

Next time we meet up, you'll need to rock the sassy bald confident lady look! Smile

Destinysdaughter · 30/03/2018 23:18

PlantLover The whole grain Ryvita is 3.5 carbs per cracker ( crackers vary quite a lot so you need to check the packet ), so they're good for pate, cheese, avocado etc.

prettybird · 30/03/2018 23:24

Destiny - lovely as the idea is, even a wholewheat Ryvita is not compatible with BootCamp.

Plantlover - there are various recipes for seed/almond based crackers on the Boot Camp recipe threads. I think they're in the Vegetarian thread.

Love reading your posts cherries.

Well my weight has been all over the place this past week. I’ve already posted about eating some home made bread.

Jumped on scales this morning to find I’m at my lowest weight in quite some time, 10 st 9.4 lbs.

I’ve attached my graph to show how up and down weight can be in just or week.

Morning all.

So I had fun trying on some previously too small clothes yesterday, most fit me again, but one top it too tight across the bust and completed flattened me, had my daughter in stitches as I gave her the side on view,🤣

Cherries, you are very inspirational. My mother in law lost her hair when she was pregnant with my husband in her early twenties, it never grew back, I genuinely had no idea, and we were together a few years before I found out.

I was in their house, and went to the bathroom door to tell her something, and she came to the door to respond to me, and there was a frosted glass panel on the door and I could see she was totally bald, I honestly got a complete shock as I had absolutely no idea whatsoever.

When I asked my husband why he hadn't mentioned it, he just said he thought I knew and it never occurred to him.

She discussed it with me and she personally found it very difficult and made me promise when she was dying to never let the boys see her without her wig as she was worried the hospital staff would remove it.

It's such a shame she lived most of her adult life struggling with it, and I think your attitude is inspirational for many women. 😍

TerfsUp · 31/03/2018 09:52

Just popping in to say hello to everyone and to hope that you are KOKO.

Bluntness100 · 31/03/2018 10:11

Hmm, on the whole c section over hang thing I do think it's reducing. Last images I posted were on the 24th, here is now. So a week basically. Now side on it just looks friggen weird. Like a mouth 😱

Any suggestions for a decent low carb dessert that I can take for an Easter lunch tomorrow?
Needs to serve 6. I have almond / coconut flour plus dark chocolate and eggs plus standard baking ingredients. Ideally would be dairy free (can use stork to replace butter!)
Help wise people
Worst case i will make a standard pudding but it’s Easter and I’d like to treat myself for the first time in 9 weeks(!)

AthelstaneTheUnready · 31/03/2018 20:46

Hello, all. Sorry not to RTFT; have been rather unwell these past few days. Quick NSV though - was leaning up against a fence (us rural types) and realised the uncomfortable lump in the way was my hipbone. Usually my stomach gets in the way...

AthelstaneTheUnready · 31/03/2018 20:48

sorry, Nan, x-posted. You could perhaps skip pudding and have a fruit/nut/cheeseboard instead?

Bluntness100 · 01/04/2018 08:57

Morning all, so yesterday I overdid it in the gym, my thighs ache today, I have 10 folks over tonight for a party and I'm waking, excuse the French, like I've shit myself, 🤣

Rayna37 · 01/04/2018 10:41

Back home after our trip, 3lbs up could have been much worse! Celebrating Easter with an egg fast, yes just actual eggs, no chocolate ones. Feeling ok.

EeeSheWasThin · 01/04/2018 10:50

@Ilovecherries I saw a bald lady, looking great, when I was out yesterday and immediately thought of you. Glad your make up counter trip worked well, I bought a dark purple YSL lipstick yesterday (as DSD tells me dark lipstick is “on trend”) and now need a night out to wear it! Have dark red for daytime though which is an advance on the insipid pink/beige I wore before.

NSV this morning - dug out the summer bag from the storage this morning (all the trousers stayed in it last summer as too fat to wear them) and pleased to report they fit!

Bluntness can you face running up and downstairs a few times to ease the stiffness?

prettybird · 01/04/2018 11:08

Nan - not tried these myself but fancy doing so.

Bluntness100 · 01/04/2018 11:46

Eee, actually you are right, just out of the gym and was going to do only upper body, but ran for ten mins on treadmill first and they have eased up. Hopefully they don't seize up again later. Who knew that helped..🤔

Nan0second · 01/04/2018 20:24

So I did do lava cake in the end. It was nice but not cooked in the time it said.
Anyway I used this recipe if anybody is interested.
sugarfreelondoner.com/5-ingredient-low-carb-chocolate-lava-cake/
Generally managed a fairly low carb day. Appropriate meals with the addition of the pud above plus a glass of red wine and then some extra dark chocolate for breakfast(!)
Overall not perfect but I’m proud of myself considering it’s Easter Sunday :)
