Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!

Good morning!

Well, we've finally reached the end. Here's the spreadsheet, for the last time

It feels to me like it's been a really good Bootcamp, with lots of NSVs as well as success on the scales. Hopefully today sees another good reading on the scales too!

As I've said on previous threads, just because we've reached the end of this Bootcamp, it doesn't mean that we all just melt away - I'll keep this chat thread going and when it fills up, I'll start another general chat one, so there's always someone here for help and support as well as ongoing low carb stuff.

I'll probably put the big stick back in its cupboard for a while though Grin

I would second (or third) the frittata suggestion. They’re very portable, dh transports slices by bike to work.

Logging my food
B - bacon mushrooms scrambled eggs
L - salad cheese ham mayo
D - brussels sprinkles of cheese. Ff yoghurt

Possibly not enough water

Rayna37 · 27/03/2018 08:02

Graph for the month as I won't be at home any more to weigh in. For anyone new, the ski slope is due to a baby Smile! I was properly back on LCHF from Jan, found the even stricter rules of bootcamp end of Jan.
129.4 today so 0.8lb loss for the week. Had a whoosh down in the week but then back up again over the weekend but have seen 127something so know I can get there again.
Rest of March I'll be away but April is a race to goal ready for summer. Also, while packing for this trip I realised I need to go and buy a few decent new clothes for now, can't keep putting it off until I've lost more weight! Nothing new except maternity since 2016!

Low Carb Bootcamp - our final weigh-in!
Bluntness100 · 27/03/2018 08:11

Morning all.

I'm still being good, no wine either, but had a craving for chocolate last night for the first time this year, it was fleeting though. I think it was because my daughter was sitting eating some on the sofa.😳

Honestly believe my family are strange. My husband likes crisps and nuts. Except he doesn't do what I do, if I open a packet feel I need to eat thr whole thing, he puts a portion in a bowl. Eats that and that's it.

Daughter is the same, got her chocolate, she opened a large bar of dairy milk, broke off four squares, ate that and was done.

WTAF is wrong with them.🤣

StuntNun · 27/03/2018 11:47

Aw Blunt your c-section overhang totally is tiny. I can grab mine in both hands and flobble it up and down! If I was going to go running I would need a belly bra (if there is such a thing.) In my defence I have had five pregnancies and three c-sections so it's not surprising my tummy's in a bit of a state.

Shag my comment to Grimbles about exercising straight after eating carbs was only in the context of a planned carb-fest, to stop the scales jumping up the next day with glycogen and water weight.

Egg Fast Rules

The rules are based on Jimmy Moore's Eggfest. Please note that this is an experimental fast and may not be suitable for people with underlying health conditions. It is intended for people that are already following a low carb - high fat diet and are trying to break a stall or lose the last few pounds to reach their goal weight.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a doctor or nutritionist. If you follow this fast and have any issues at all such as feeling unwell then seriously consider stopping the fast immediately. Alternatively wait until a few of us have tried it first!

THE RULES

  1. Eat at least six eggs per day
This is not a calorie-restricted diet so eat to fullness.
  1. Buy the best quality eggs you can
Free range eggs may contain more omega 3 fats and vitamin D.
  1. Eat one tablespoon of butter per egg
Coconut oil, olive oil and mayo may also be used.
  1. You may add up to one ounce of cheese per egg if desired
Make sure your cheese is low carb.
  1. Drink as much water as you can: at least 2-4 litres MINIMUM
Black or bulletproof coffee, black tea, green tea and herbal tea can be added if required.
  1. Add salt and keep taking your usual vitamins (if taken)
Consider extra magnesium and potassium to prevent cramps. If you suffer from constipation then flaxseed may help.
  1. Exercise daily
Even a short walk will help maintain lean muscle mass.
  1. Eat three meals a day; if not hungry eat one egg
Your appetite will be reduced but keep eating to preserve lean muscle mass.
  1. Follow the egg fast for three days; five days may give better results
You will be sick of eggs by the third day.
  1. Transition back to your normal diet E.g. the day after eat two egg meals and one normal meal (whatever you usually eat), the day after that eat one egg meal and two normal meals. Consider keeping on eating at least two eggs a day to maintain the effects of the fast.

I had an NSV today: for the first time in several years, I am able to wear tights in size L rather than XL. The objective is to get to an M.

TerfsUp · 27/03/2018 13:35

WTAF is wrong with them

They must be adopted. Grin

Rshard · 27/03/2018 13:52

I really fancy doing an egg fast, I might try it next week. Thanks stuntnun

I can understand your outrage at your family’s strange eating habits bluntness.

That’s a brilliant NSV terf!

Bluntness100 · 27/03/2018 14:23

If it wasn't for the fact my daughter looks like me I'd think she was swapped at birth. 🤣

BrassicaBabe · 27/03/2018 15:55

Thanks for the picnic suggestions. I like the sound of your fridge contents YoloGrin

I'm struggling to shift the last 2lb to get me to goal weight. Think I'm going to try the egg fast next week for 3 days

TerfsUp · 27/03/2018 19:08

Thank you, rshard!

YoLoHogwomanay · 27/03/2018 23:59

brassica what did you have in the end?

my food log today:

creamy coffee, cheese, corned beef and coleslaw.
mixed Turkish meze starter (no bread) was lc though I had maybe a tablespoon of houmous.
4 squares 85% choc
pork belly, roasted on a bed of cubed Swede (food of the Gods) with FLBGV

Made a frittata tonight with FLGV, chorizo and cheese for my breakfasts over the next 3 days. I am super organised today!

I really want a chocolate brownie, no idea why

Bluntness100 · 28/03/2018 08:12

Morning all. Another day another dollar. All good again for me yesterday. As I've not tried any too small clothes on recently no clue what's going on with my weight.

Daughter wanted pasta for dinner, so I made it with egg, bacon, cheese, peas, and garlicky mushrooms for her and husband, but managed to resist and had some of the previous nights gammon and salad. 😇

Rshard · 28/03/2018 08:13

yolo I’ve been craving sweet things too, never normally do but I was eyeing up a spare Yorkshire pudding last night, imagining it with some jam like I had it as a child! I didn’t tho!

I did eat

B - scrambled eggs avo
L - cheese ham salad mayo
D - broccoli swede brussels sausage

Nan0second · 28/03/2018 08:59

Been on plan all week so that’s good. Have finished the v v dark chocolate and not bought any more.
Can’t decide if it’s better to go heavy on allowed stuff when cravings surface or risk not having it in the house and then trying to stay strong in the face of much carby temptation...
Off on a course today and have emergency Greek yoghurt and pork scratchings in handbag ...in case I can’t find good lunch options

YoLoHogwomanay · 28/03/2018 11:48

rshard Had a lightbulb moment. I am due on my period this week. Duh. This is always my trickiest time and I only realised when I checked the calendar. My body or brain demands sugar for a few days. I am sure it's something to do with hormones and moods rather than a physiological need. I probably associate sugar with feeling good (dopamine hit) and when I'm feeling low assaulted by oestrogen then I crave what I think will lift me. Maybe that is a crap theory and someone will explain it in proper science!

Anyway, a challenging few days ahead of me. I do think managing it thru 'permitted' very dark chocolate is preventing me from stuffing my face with donuts. But I'm sure there must be a better way.

TerfsUp · 28/03/2018 13:37

Good for you, rshard! Keep up the strong willpower.

I still daydream about bread. I hope that this craving goes away at some point.

Rshard · 28/03/2018 14:13

That makes sense yolo! Not something I am afflicted with these days so not sure about my cravings although I have recent developed a tolerance of olives. Not a liking but perhaps my taste buds are changing and the grand old age of 44!?

Thanks terfs!

Grimbles · 28/03/2018 18:29

I've bitten the bullet and chucked out all of my fat clothes today. Sainsbury were doing their 25% off today so I've got some size 14 stuff to see me through the summer! I also bought a set of Fitbit scales, apparently my body fat is 39% so it will be interesting to see that change.

On a more personal note, I'm due to start ivf treatment soon. From what I've read lchf isn't a problem for this?

ilovecherries · 28/03/2018 19:05

I have a big NSV, which I'm broadcasting over about 4 different threads on MN. Today I went out with my shaved head. Love my faux hair, and will wear it most of the time, but wanted to know I could go without and survive. I'm pleased to report no one died. Especially me. I put on a lot of makeup, big earrings and red lipstick and went for it. You know what - hardly anyone gave me a second glance :)

Bluntness100 · 28/03/2018 19:10

Good luck with the ivf grimbles and well done cherries,,you prob looked fab,,!

Destinysdaughter · 28/03/2018 19:20

ilovecherries wow good for you! This is a sign of how good you’re feeling about yourself right now. Long may it continue! 💜❤️😀

ShagMeRiggins · 28/03/2018 19:26

Wishing you great success with IVF, Grimbles

cherries they probably didn’t dare stare at the incredibly hip famous bald woman “where do I know her from...?”

I’ve just made a Spanish tortilla for the child who went pescetarian for Lent (three more days Hmm), and was tempted with a small nibble, mostly because I’ve not made one in ages and needed to taste test for flavour and consistency.

Got me thinking about making a low carb version possibly substituting celeriac for potatoes and shallots for onions. Has anyone done a low carb version of tortilla?

Top Tip for anyone who loves this dish as much as I do—don’t use parsley, use oregano. A Spanish mum at the school made a tortilla for the Y6 swimming party and it was the best I’ve ever tasted.

ShagMeRiggins · 28/03/2018 19:27

veg rack FFS

ilovecherries · 28/03/2018 19:32

I was wondering what a vag rack was. And whether I had one...

prettybird · 28/03/2018 19:40

I hope it was your new Chanel red lipstick ilovecherries Grin - I bet you looked fab! Smile You rock, girl Wink

With skin like yours, no one would believe your age Smile
