Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness.

We've reached the half way part now, and I hope you're finding it a bit easier - no more carb flu, and getting used to a different way of eating.

If you've suffered from the week 3, 4 or even 5 stall, I hope that this week you'll see the scales start to move (downwards!) again.

I hope you all have a good week

BlackMozart · 13/02/2018 19:33

Good to know prettybird re the Tiramisu. It is one of a few puddings that I do really like but I am the only one unless eldest DD is home, so will have to wait until I have others to eat it as well.

Re pancakes I made real ones for youngest DD and DS but left them alone myself as I’m not a fan. Today had a small disaster in that I was out with youngest and a couple of her friends at local soft play and the other lovely mum bought the coffees and came back with cappuccinos. When the lunch was brought over she’d ordered another two so I’ve ended up drinking all that milk unfortunately and I think that’s why I’ve got a tummy ache. Kept the carbs down otherwise and am putting it down to just one of those things.

The positive is that I’m still alcohol free and we’re nearly half way through!

Here's an interesting report on LCHF and its nutritional properties/benefits.

I've only skim read this so far, but it seems interesting - maybe some of you science-y lot might like to read and summarise it for the rest of us?! Wink

B: Greek yoghurt and cinnemon plus a piece of cheese
L: Egg mayo in lettuce wraps and salad with cheese
D: Chicken, celeriac and spinich bake
S: Mug of boullion
Have drunk about 3 litres of water.

SayrraT · 13/02/2018 20:20

OMG! Whoever recommended adding cream to a stock cube drink you are a genius!!!

Its amazing Grin

headoutofthesand · 13/02/2018 20:35

RShard that made me laugh. If the children have been baking, I always warn guests before they are offered the produce as there is bound to be a secret ingredient of germs included!

I tried unsweetened almond milk today. It's pretty overpowering, isn't it? Not sure having a (homemade) cappuccino using just that was necessarily the best introduction to it. I couldn't actually taste the coffee.

Food today
B - Fage & cream; a bit of courgette frittata
L - courgette frittata & spinach salad with a glug of olive oil
S - spinach, avocado & other green veg with cold chicken, chorizo & feta
Snacks - 4 rashers streaky bacon, a bowl of tender stem broccoli, the aforementioned cappuccino, three grapes.

BIWI · 13/02/2018 20:35

Isn't that just called soup?!

SayrraT · 13/02/2018 20:45

Well I don't know BIWI usually I'd add other things to my soup Grin this was literally stock cube in a cup with a dash of cream added.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 13/02/2018 20:49

Popping on to list today's food.
B: creamy coffee, 2 sausages
L: tuna mayo salad

S: creamy coffee, spoon of extra thick cream, 2 squares 85% choc

BerylStreep · 13/02/2018 20:52

Food for today:
B. Lardons, 1/2 avocado, fried egg with bacon juices poured over. Coffee with AM&C

L. Nothing

S. Coffee with almond milk. 10 macadamias

D. Butter chicken with broccoli

BerylStreep · 13/02/2018 20:54

SoMuchToBits · 13/02/2018 21:04

Interesting article, BIWI. I think the gist of it is that a LCHF diet should provide all the micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) needed in the diet, with the possible exception of iron for women (although it discusses the bioavailability of iron with respect to food eaten.

But it looks quite encouraging. Interesting about the ratio of Omega6:Omega3, which is generally lower in a LCHF diet, which should reduce inflammatory responses. Maybe this is why several of us are finding our joints ache less, and we have less bloating etc.

I've been thinking today about how I feel so well on this WOE, and wondering whether it's eating low carb in general which causes this, or whether there was a specific item in my diet which might have been causing me problems. It's difficult to know. One thing I do wonder though is about how healthy grains are, when many of them these days are sprayed with Glyphosate prior to harvesting. Some articles I have been reading suggest that about 2/3 of wholemeal bread samples tested in the UK had traces of Glyphosate in them. I find that a bit worrying tbh.

abbey44 · 13/02/2018 21:20

Sayrra - I think that was me earlier - I discovered it by accident but yes, isn't it lush? Grin I have it with Knorr chicken concentrate though - it comes in a little squeezy bottle and you only need a tiny bit.

Took my dogs out this morning with the group in lashing sleet through mud that was threatening to pull our wellies off - coming back to a mug of that was just what I needed.

B: Coffee with cream
L: Chicken stock with cream
D: FLGV stir-fried in butter with chilli & cauliflower rice
S: Couple of teaspoons of chunky peanut butter

Hoping weather will improve before tomorrow's walk - we're meeting up on the North Yorkshire Moors to walk round a reservoir, which is a beautiful walk when it's nice, but the work of the devil when it's not.

nekobus · 13/02/2018 21:41

Popping on with today's food.

B - LC bread, butter and marmite, tea with soya, creamy coffee
L - lemongrass and coconut chicken (this recipe nomnompaleo.com/post/137755902728/pressure-cooker-lemongrass-coconut-chicken )
D - Cesar salad (no croutons no dough sticks) from pizza express. Diet Coke (a treat to keep me away from the wine - 17 days dry)
S - dressed salad leaves with some smoked trout, 25g 85% choc bar

TheWayOfTheWorld · 13/02/2018 22:10

This stock with cream - do you use one cube in a mug? Or do you make more in a saucepan and have a little stock (see what I did there) of it?

titsbumfannythelot · 13/02/2018 22:27

Just logging my food for the day

b- scrambled egg with mozzarella and spinach
L- salmon salad with mayo
D- lchf moussaka

Snack- mini babybel and jarlsberg, handful of cherry tomatoes

prettybird · 13/02/2018 22:37

Steak with a creamy sauce made from some Boursin, cream cheese, cream and more cream used to deglaze the griddle, with brussels, carrot and swede mash and celeriac chips. Yummy Smile

Week 6 - Low Carb Bootcamp - welcome to part 2
BlackMozart · 13/02/2018 23:14

That looks really yummy!
Happy Valentines for tomorrow 🙂(or tonight)

abbey44 · 13/02/2018 23:17

World - I think a white Le stock cube might be a bit overpowering, so of the two options, I'd keep a stock(!) of it in the fridge. I found Knorr chicken stock concentrate in Sainsbury's (other supermarkets are available), which comes in a squeezy bottle and I use just enough to cover the bottom of the mug, topped up with hot water. Then a spoonful of cream. Lovely when you need a savoury hit.

abbey44 · 13/02/2018 23:19

Oh Lord, that steak and sauce looks so good Smile

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 14/02/2018 00:43

Blast, was it Shrove Tuesday yesterday?! I mean, I'm already into Valentine's day, being in Australia - they don't really "do" Shrove Tuesday here so I keep missing it. :(

Twoo · 14/02/2018 01:58

Laughing my socks off at you lot. My clothes memory from the 70’s was crocheted hot pants with attached bib and braces. The hot pants were made from squares of different coloured crocheted squares (yes like those bedspreads). Shoes were like jellies (clear coloured plastic) Hair in a pudding basin style! I looked awesome .... not Grin

blackteaplease · 14/02/2018 05:20

I am so glad I was born in the 80s, I missed all of these fashion delights.

I avoided pancakes yesterday, had salad for lunch and beef stew with celeriac mash for tea.

I am still in a massive grump. It's day 2 of my period which is always bad. I had to get up at 4.30 to change Sanpro and woke up ds 1 and ds2 who were both in my bed as dh is away. Yawn. I have to work today. Pass the coffee and matchstick whole I rock gently in the corner. Dh is back in the wee small hours of tomorrow.
