As several people look like they're reaching or soon reaching their target, I thought it would be a good idea to start a maintenance thread.

I know lots of people are worried about how they're going to maintain, so having a support thread for ideas and suggestions sounds like it's going to be important!

Lol. That's a shame. I love LC cauli cheese. I have to be careful with it though. It's too much dairy for me.

starsky22 · 11/01/2018 19:04

I much prefer LC cauli cheese now, the traditional version seemed very stodgy, the low carb one seems lighter somehow, even though it's made with cream!

prettybird · 11/01/2018 19:28

Did he try to put an egg into it? Confused

Hippadippadation · 12/01/2018 06:25

Hmm was he trying to sabotage you or just couldn't be bothered with something new?

I've got the peanut butter Halo Top ice cream in the freezer. I'm having it tonight, eep.

My xmas poundage must have been real actual fat as I was still only 118 this morning. I was 116 before xmas, went up to 121. A couple of lbs was water, but this last few lbs is tough going. I didn't think I ate that much / that badly, but I must have done!

Next week is my birthday and we have meals out planned all weekend, then a chinese meal the next week for our friend's birthday. I get the feeling I'll be putting it all back on again, haha.

Question for my maintenance pals...

I appear to be between sizes. Do I wear size 12 jeans with saggy arse and knees or size 10 ones that I have to jump around to get into and my tummy hangs over the top?!! Grin

FurryTurnipHead · 12/01/2018 13:19

Brassica go for the size 10s, they'll give a bit when you've had them on a while, plus the overhang will keep you motivated to stay on track!

starsky22 · 12/01/2018 13:45

hippa I don't think it was either, I've made us low carb cauli cheese and he likes it and did try to make it, but somehow messed it up. Plus he thought it would be ok as I'm on maintenance and had forgotten that I'd decided to have a couple of strict weeks. To be honest I can't completely blame him, as it would have been easy to microwave a few sprouts for myself!

FurryTurnipHead · 14/01/2018 15:40

How's everyone doing? I had a reasonably successful week followed by yet another full on carby twat weekend. And am still in it..... Had friends over for curry last night, ate naan bread and potato curry, but also quite a lot of pudding. As a result i woke up today with massive carb cravings, which I've caved into.

Made a point of weighing myself knowing it would be bad, to try and kick start me again for tomorrow. It was bad. Up 5.5lbs from my lowest weight. Serious action needed from tomorrow. Maintenance is officially hard.

Mumof5kiddies · 14/01/2018 15:53

Having a bad weekend ☹️ started with cupcakes on Saturday now sitting here eating home made butterscotch popcorn. I don't buy crap but end up making it 😭

BrassicaBabe · 14/01/2018 17:50

I'm not doing tooooo bad. We ate out with friends last night and had a taster menu very few carbs in it. The fondant potato was the size of a 50p and the pudding served in a shot glass! BUT we had wine with each course, started off with a couple of g&ts where the tonic was full sugar and then when we got back to their place I ate the
snack corn kernels that were on offer. No scales available this morning so I don't know the impact.

Last weekend I ate Pizza Hut, put on 2lbs then lost it plus another 1 to get to 10.3.0 by Friday. I'd like to get there again this week!

I wore the size 10 jeans but there was serious overspill. I had a bath before we went. I never do. I noticed my mummy tummy effectively starts under my ribs exactly where my pregnancy bump was. SadDTs, but 6 years ago. And that mummy tummy was all soft and floaty in the bath ShockBlush So onwards!!

starsky22 · 15/01/2018 16:42

I've had a terrible weekend, won't go into details but the Lindt reindeer is no more! Confused Couldn't stop eating carby stuff and then my period arrived unexpectedly yesterday, so blaming my hormones! Back on it today!

BrassicaBabe · 15/01/2018 18:27

RIP Reindeer SadWink

FurryTurnipHead · 15/01/2018 19:29

I'm impressed the reindeer lasted that long to be honest, it wouldn't have done in this house. I am back on track after disastrous weekend, but there is a new danger zone, as DH has discovered a liking for my expensive dark chocolate. He found it on offer in Tesco so had bought 5 bars... I have to now try and forget they exist as I get through this week!

FurryTurnipHead · 18/01/2018 09:32

Am back on track this week after some terrible eating, and pleased to see the weight coming off fairly quickly. A good reminder that it almost as easy to get it off again as it is to put it on. I'd got stuck in a mindset that it was going to be painful and difficult to get back on track but it all feels normal.

And on another note, I finally found somewhere that stocks the Oppo ice cream, and was pleased to discover I don't really like it, far too sweet. Must be the artificial sweeteners. But I consider that a bonus otherwise I would have wolfed down the lot.

How's everyone doing out there in maintenance world?

BIWI · 19/01/2018 03:19

I think you all need to re-frame how you feel and talk about food! Stop demonising it, or your own behaviour, and recognise that these are real life situations and choices. Some will be higher carb than others - and that’s all Grin

As long as you’re mindful about what you’re eating overall, and you’re monitoring your weight, you’ll stay in maintenance. But if you constantly keep telling yourself you’ve been bad, it’s exhausting - and makes food an emotional issue again.

FurryTurnipHead · 19/01/2018 07:34

Wise words BIWI. I certainly don't want to have that good /bad relationship with food again. For me, I know I'll be OK, it was just really bad timing with Xmas being the start of maintenance. But now back where I want to be and can start reintroducing carbs more gradually again, rather than piling into sugar. It's all a massive learning curve.

On the upside, I now know if I do gain a few pounds I can shift them very quickly again.

BrassicaBabe · 19/01/2018 11:30

Yes good points from BIWI. I think after so long my relationship with food is well and truely fucked. But I guess it doesn't stop me trying. I'm no longer terrified of the weekend high carb meal (see what I did there?! I nearly said cheat Grin) Because I've seen that I can knock the weight gain from one meal in 2 days.

Shhh, I won't say this on BC thread but I'm managing to have a HC meal at the weekend (just one mind you and no other off piste eating) and still loose weight!!

FurryTurnipHead · 19/01/2018 15:48

That's brilliant Brassica, I think I might be heading towards a pattern of low carb week and a bit more freedom at weekends. I like the routine of low carb, feels natural to be back in it, but weekends are just so much more challenging with being out and about.

Hippadippadation · 22/01/2018 20:13

That's pretty much what I'm doing Furry. It was my birthday this weekend so I ate cinema sweets on Saturday and some of the mash and roasties and an oreo cupcake yesterday.

I was back down to 116 on Friday as well, haha. I'm only weighing myself on Fridays now, it seems to be working.

FurryTurnipHead · 25/01/2018 09:23

Glad it's working for you Hippa I think for me it's a natural pattern to fit into and hopefully sustainable. Weighing on a Friday is a really good idea too, I may swap to that, as I always weigh on a Monday which now I'm having higher carb weekends that may not be the best plan!

BrassicaBabe · 25/01/2018 17:40

I've been posting my Friday or Saturday weight this BC it's less ambiguous Grin

I saw 10.1 on the scales this morning. Hoping it sticks around.

Duck breast for tea (random Tesco purchase)

Velocity · 25/01/2018 19:20

DH have signed up for Diet Doctor membership so we download a weeks worth of recipes at a time. Have been following their Keto plan so that If a few carbs do slip in then I'm hopefully still on low carb mode. I'm another celebrating Burns Night this weekend so there will be a bit of deviation but I'll have some Greek yogurt before I go to stave off the pre-meal hunger pangs. I am still combining with 16:8 most days apart from Saturday when we tend to have family brunch. Big mistake of the week was falling into the haribo sweetie pit - talk about sugar dip (and no, it wasn't worth it!!). Good luck everyone x
