Morning all Smile

Well done for reaching week 5, hopefully by now low carb eating should be pretty natural to everyone.

Just watch out for complacency, don't think "oh a wee bit won't hurt" it might!

If you need food inspiration (some people might find they are eating the same things and getting bored) check out the recipe thread or one if the many low carb/keto websites for ideas.

Good luck everyone Smile

Lunch was prawn and avocado salad. I made up a weird dressing with Greek yoghurt, cream and salt. It tasted strangely sweet (a bit like evaporated milk) but was quite nice!

Dinner was salmon in garlic, herb and cream sauce, with courgettes and broccoli.

Grah that brought a tear to my eye, I'm not at target, just at the top end of my normal bmi and I fully expect to gain weight over the next few weeks as my appetite returns. For ten days I didn't receive any food at all just some glucose via a drip.
I'm very very weak and have lost a lot of condition and what little muscle tone I did have so it's a high protein and gradually building back up to at least two meals a day. I will stick to hflc and have a few little snacks of berries and nuts too.

I'm struggling to stay awake for long periods at the moment so eating seems to take too much energy to even think about let alone do.

Anyway it's nice to be back and thank you for the lovely message.

Could you dunk thick cut celeriac chips into a boiled egg/ have them as a rosti with scrambled Wh0Knows?

I have been taking cream cheese/ pate with celery for breakfast and having it at my desk at work and that is relatively light and ok. Or a bit of Parma ham and cheese continental breakfast style.

I’ve been too busy to eat today. Not really hungry though which is good. Eaten too many nuts though!

B- sachet of almond butter.
L- half a cashew and almond protein bar (7g carbs) and 10 almonds
D- we are going for Korean BBQ and I am very excited!

YoLoNovVitMe · 11/11/2017 23:53

whoknows ham and cheese rollups with cucumber are easy for breakfast. Pack into Tupperware and take to work. I think you need to let go of all your food preferences and habits of the past and just start afresh. Dont think in terms of 'i dont like x y or z' , 'i dont eat x or y at that time of day , 'I've never liked...' , 'I'm used to...' , '' i always...'. Just leave all that behind because you can change!

It's also easier to cook hflc food for everyone in the family and just bung on some starches for the others to eat alongside (pasta, rice, potatoes). Meals don't have to have carbs as the main feature. Meat and veg should be the stars. That way it's not 'special diet food in your mind or theirs. Just good tasty food for all.

I eat loads of things now that I thought I didn't like, or hadnt tried, or find that I like now when I didn't before. Your tastes change on this WOE.

Well done for not eating fruit or alcohol. That's hard for some. Keep going.

Ham and cheese rollups with celery and/or cucumber have been one of the mainstays of my evenings, I could switch those around as surprisingly those are things I could face in the morning. Unfortunately carbs as mainstay of the meal is strongly ingrained for my DCs who would have a big bowl of pasta every night if I let them. DS is a very reluctant veg eater (he has ASD and a very restricted palate) so tomato pasta sauce is about the only way to get veg into him. He eats small amounts of certain types of meat and virtually no fish. Won't touch creamy sauces. On the plus side though he doesn't like potatoes either.

I've been pretty good tonight, a meal out. Creamy mussels followed by a chicken and avocado caesar salad, I did eat a few croutons but no pudding and no drink apart from water.

Saw 12.8 for the second time this week!

Cherrypi · 12/11/2017 09:55

Pound I lost back on as I had a glass of red wine. This is so frustrating. Had rhubarb for breakfast but still miss porridge. 4:30am wake up call didn’t help. Starting to think of giving up. What’s so wrong with being a size 14 anyway?

Scabbersley · 12/11/2017 10:06

Saw 12.2 and a bit this morning. Was very encouraging. The sugar I had yesterday has made me crave toast this morning, but I've made myself a large creamy coffee and looking forward to brunch later.

PippleBang · 12/11/2017 10:37

As of this morning I am down from 245lbs in August to 220lbs. Still a long way to go 145lbs would be nice but I'm certain I'll get there!

whoknows I've been there with the difficult eaters too and allergies, and I know some of the usual tactics don't work with ASD but it does get better! Takes years but it does! Textures and wetness have always been difficult with mine. I try and remind myself that all the extra veg and protein compared to before is much much healthier for my DC as well as me. You have to get inventive with the hiding! I've got quite good at adapting a version of a dish so i don't have to cook two or three separate meals. And pureeing some things so they are smooth not lumpy. See if you can look for meals that make your life easier not harder. With an added variation of carb that you leave off your plate.

ASDismynormality · 12/11/2017 11:21

wombattoo. I hope things get better for you Flowers

I cook different foods for everyone, sometimes we all have a different combination of foods on our plates! I just don't want to make food stressful for anyone and the easiest way for me is cooking differently as then I know everyone will be happy. Seems more work but works best in my home.

Don’t give up cherrypi, you’re more than half way through - you’ve got this

ASDismynormality · 12/11/2017 11:57

Cherrypi. If you give up are you going to manage to sts or gain? How about you just keep going for the rest of bootcamp and then reassess.

Thiswillbemyusername · 12/11/2017 12:11

@Cherrypi there's absolutely nothing wrong with being a size 14! However, will you stay a 14 by eating carbs?

CremeDeSudo · 12/11/2017 12:15

So I might be off the bandwagon. The 'morning' sickness and cravings have officially begun and to be honest I'm craving everything I shouldn't eat Sad I had Greek yoghurt with cream for breakfast yesterday and felt awful for the rest of the morning. The thought of cream and oil is making me feel sick but crisps and bread and noodles seems like it would make me feel so much better! Will koko'ing as best I can and hopefully when I get to 2nd trimester it'll all subside and I can get back go it. Disappointed as I'd found it easy until now!

Cherrypi · 12/11/2017 12:32

Thank you. No my weight will creep up again. Today is not a day to make decisions. I think I might need to do a bit more exercise too.

wombattoo · 12/11/2017 12:34

Thank you everyone.

Creme that is such a shame, but I understand how you must feel. The morning sickness is the pits Thanks

Cherrypi there is nothing wrong at all with being a size 14. That would be fantastic for some people. I wouldn't have thought 1 glass of wine would cause a 1lb gain. You know how fickle weight can be. That gain could be a loss tomorrow. Thanks

Pipple That is a fantastic loss. Congratulations Thanks

Scabbersley · 12/11/2017 12:37

If I hadn't done this, my weight would have crept up and up and up. I was a size 14 (still am), but it was a BIG 14 on the way to a 16. I've found it really psychologically hard, particularly in weeks 3 and 4. It's suddenly got easier thank goodness. The key for me is eating plenty of fat and drinking 3l of water. I have to make myself do it, it doesn't feel 'natural' in the way sitting down with a piece of toast did, but it's working and I am rarely hungry.

Mimosa1 · 12/11/2017 13:36

Gaaah - I'm up a pound today. It's so annoying as it's been the same pound up and down for 2 weeks. I haven't been drinking enough water so will focus on that for next week and will do an egg fast latter half of the week (have guests at home for the moment). On the plus side, I'm making food choices relatively easily despite the chocolates, mince pies, stollen, apples and other Christmassy food around the house (already!). And despite a lot of restaurant meals, I'm still low carbing. I've probably had a spoonful of flour in gravy or a forkful of peas in a stew, but these were all best if a bad bunch choices, so I'm possibly eating as if this were maintenance but it still feels draconian that I've not lost any weight for 2.5 weeks. Full week at work from tomorrow. May end up being better for the figure - at least I'll be much more likely to get my water in vs running around children!

HolgerDanske · 12/11/2017 13:51

Mimosa I am sure you are due a whoosh sometime soon! KOKO!

Also, I know I'm a bit of a broken record on this but for me the health issues are really important. There is some evidence now that carb heavy diets and resultant blood sugar issues may contribute in great part to later dementia, for example. I am confident that the way I am eating is much, much better for me than any other way of eating - overall it is better in so many ways. If you try to make it about that rather than the weight, I have found it makes it much easier as it becomes about the long game - You are not eating this way as a trade-off for pounds off, you are eating this way for its own benefits and the weight loss, when it happens, is a happy bonus.

HolgerDanske · 12/11/2017 13:53

Also the water really is very important! Good luck on getting more of it down you - I've had a really bad week for water, too, so I am not hopeful for a loss tomorrow...
