Here's one to illustrate daily weight fluctuations--yesterday 1.2 down for the week, today 4.5 up from yesterday!

Luckily I've been doing this long enough and have confidence in the WOE so I'm not at all worried (41 lbs and counting), but I confess I did have a WTF moment on the scales this morning. Grin

Onward and downward, etc.

Mimosa1 · 31/10/2017 09:04

Harlots how did you find the 99% dark chocolate? I bought some and it wasn't for me although the 90% Lindt one is delicious - this from someone who ate white and milk for years and never touched plain. I find i like the dark better now.

Thiswillbemyusername · 31/10/2017 09:13

@ClearEyesFullHearts me too but mine was in reverse I gained a lb yesterday (in time for weighing day of course Grin) and it's gone again today (down the loo probably! Sorry tmi Grin )

MiniCooperLover · 31/10/2017 09:21

Lots of water yday, 2 pints down so far today (and a cup of tea). B’fast was a cheese 2 egg omelette, 2 slices of bacon, cooked in a little butter with a dollop of mayo.

ilovecherries · 31/10/2017 10:02

I've got a whole lot of mini goals bunched up together. One was to get under 13 stone (tick), one was to get into the 170s (tick), the next is to see 12 1/2 stone (4 pounds to go), and to lose my 50th pound (5 lbs to go). The last one is huge for me - trying to decide how to mark it. For obvious reasons, going to the hairdresser isn't a treat at the moment! How do you celebrate milestone goals? I know it's reward in itself, but I'm terrible at not marking big things and then regretting it, so I sm really going to own this one!

SoMuchToBits · 31/10/2017 10:09

cherries, can you maybe buy something you wouldn't normally buy for yourself (clothes, jewellery etc), or perhaps plan a nice meal out with your dh (somewhere LC friendly!)

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 31/10/2017 10:12

Morning everyone. Well, there’s been a “movement” all it took was a trip to my doctors to put things into overdrive!! Ever since I’ve been a child if I have to go to the dentist or doctors or any kind of medical appointment I suddenly get the urge to go - it must be apprehension or nerves etc. I’ve got a a very painful foot around the arch and my doc got some X-rays done which show signs of arthritis starting but she thinks it’s a bit more than that so she’s referred me to a podiatrist.

I’m still going off to our local Holland and Barrett for some psyllium caps and I see from their website that they sell Konjac noodles,so I’ll look for them too.

Halloween 🎃 🎃🎃🎃 tonight! I’ve got my bags of sweeties in for the local kids.

As we move into November I’m wondering if anyone fancies doing a November challenge - I know I’d benefit from setting a few goals for myself to keep to. I don’t want to hijack this thread @SayrraT or confuse people so I’m thinking it could be a separate thread maybe? What do you all think? Has anyone got a snappy name for it?

CremeDeSudo · 31/10/2017 10:13

Morning all

So I've found out this morning that I'm pregnant. There goes my weight loss!!

Anyone know anything about low carbing while pregnant? I did a bit of reading on Diet Doctor and some of the Drs they've mentioned who advocate it suggest pg women eat every 2-3 hours even if it's just something small.

It'll be interesting to see how my body reacts this time - I've had two pregnancies, both times I was very very bloated really early on. My first PG I put on 3+ stone. My second ended in MC, but I put a significant amount on during the 8 weeks! I find I'm STARVING constantly. It's an early symptom for me. So far this hasn't happened, but early days!

Kleptronic · 31/10/2017 10:19

Ah another Bootcamp Baby! Congrats Creme Flowers no advice, I know nothing, but I reckon BC light should be ok?

HolgerDanske · 31/10/2017 10:21

Oh wow congratulations!! Flowers Flowers

I think a few people have successfully low carbed whilst pregnant/breastfeeding over the course of bootcamp history.

Stuntnun is one, I believe.

SoMuchToBits · 31/10/2017 10:22

Congratulations, Crème! I don't have any advice about low carbing in pregnancy sorry, but I'm sure some more knowledgeable person will be along soon.

Rshard · 31/10/2017 10:22

Congratulations @creme!!!

What sort of challenge were you thinking about @nomore?

@cherries what about a manicure? Or a fancy lipstick?

HolgerDanske · 31/10/2017 10:23

Cherries I'd be looking at a beautiful piece of jewellery as that's my thing at the moment. Something you wouldn't normally treat yourself to would be my main suggestion though, whatever it might be.

HolgerDanske · 31/10/2017 10:26

50th lb off seems the sort of thing one ought definitely mark with a beautiful necklace and pendant, or maybe a bangle?

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 31/10/2017 10:29

@CremeDeSudo Congratulations 💐💐
@Rshard I was thinking something like what some of did in sept SSS and October, where we set 2/3 individual targets for the month, like for, me one might be to understand and manage my hunger better or to lose 5lbs etc

CremeDeSudo · 31/10/2017 10:32

Thank you everyone Smile Smile

Rshard · 31/10/2017 10:34

I’d be up for that @nomore, I’m close to the next stone bracket so that could be one for me.

juneavrile · 31/10/2017 10:39

cherries how about a really cool hat? M&S have some very nice ones at the moment? Apologies if that is insensitive in any way as I don't know if that would irritate your head.

nomore I'm up for some sort of challenge thread.

I do my weigh-in on Tuesday am. I am a pound and a half down on last week, so six pounds in all so far. I'm trying quite hard. Have a few glasses of wine on nights out, the odd small bowl of berries, so bootcamp light and getting some exercise sessions in too. Slightly spurred on by a bet with a dieting friend - waiting to find out who's won when she has her SW weigh in later.

Also this mantra has been working for me. Picked up on another board. Losing weight is tough, but being bit is tougher This is so true. I hate having to change five times before I go out because I hate the way I look.

juneavrile · 31/10/2017 10:47

crème I was doing low carb when I got pregnant, but could not stick with it because I really wanted to eat bland food - bread / cakes / biscuits. I just didn't fancy meat and fish or cheese very much. Just blandness and a lot of milk. And fruit. And potatoes. Just followed my desires and didn't over-eat. I think I was about 7lb over my normal weight a few months after birth (of twins).

I would have thought good quality protein is excellent for pregnancy. But you might have to take care to get enough fibre and water. I'd add a little fibrous fruit in - apples and fresh figs.

Thiswillbemyusername · 31/10/2017 10:48

@CremeDeSudo congratulations Flowers

juneavrile · 31/10/2017 10:49

Ha! so much for my mantra

...being BIG is tougher

Mimosa1 · 31/10/2017 11:05

Aaah congratulations Creme! How lovely. No idea on BC with Pregnancy but I would have thought not using it as an excuse to est a family size bag of chocolate every other night like I did is a good start Wink

Nomore and april i love the idea of a November challenge but let's keep it on the thread. Not everyone has to do it, obviously, but I think it would be nice to read about everyone's goals, etc. No?

Cherries I treated myself to a semi-custom pair of boots from duoboots. If you are large or narrow of calf, you can order whatever size you are. I've been drooling over them for ages as they are so expensive but they are my reward for losing the baby weight and they are arriving soon! I love the idea of a meaningful piece of jewelRy for your 50th lbs though!

StuntNun · 31/10/2017 11:10

Congratulations Creme another Bootcamp baby! I ate low carb through my last pregnancy and through two lots of breastfeeding. I have done a fair bit of reading up on the matter but I must stress that I am not a health professional so please take the following as friendly advice and not necessarily medically accurate...

First there is no absolute requirement for any carbohydrate at all while pregnant and breastfeeding. I do know a handful of women who eat zero carb (all meat) diets and have had no issues throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding. There are also many more examples of women with hyperemesis gravidarum who are unable to keep any food down (and therefore aren't consuming any carbs) yet go on to have perfectly healthy babies. However, I recommend following the precautionary principle and aiming for about 50g of carbs per day during pregnancy. Some people may want to go higher or lower than this but that is a matter for personal preference. I am a firm believer in following your instincts so go by what your body is telling you. Many women suffer from nausea and/or food aversions during the first trimester so you may find you have to eat more carbs at first. Again be guided by how you feel.

I think it is essential to take pregnancy supplements when eating low carb as your baby gets first dibs on vitamins and minerals and you only get what's left over!

suggest pg women eat every 2-3 hours even if it's just something small
I see no reason to do this. It might help if you're suffering from morning sickness but this advice doesn't seem specific to low carb. Was any explanation given?

I put a significant amount on during the 8 weeks! I find I'm STARVING constantly.
I put on a lot of weight in my low carb pregnancy, about 30 lb, and a lot of it went on in the first trimester. However I wasn't able to stay very low carb in the first trimester due to nausea so I think that contributed to my rapid weight gain. I lost about half the baby weight within the first couple of months after DS4 was born then the rest came off more slowly. It wasn't any problem to get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 58 kg.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do ask if you have any questions, either on the thread or you can PM me if you like.

Hippadippadation · 31/10/2017 11:45

Creme congratulations!!!! What lovely news. When will you be due?

ilove I agree 50lbs deserves something special. Maybe a spa day or night away?

My food plan for the day:

L - meeting friend for coffee so will be a couple of americanos with cream and going to nosh on some crudite and pate before I go
D - bacon, swede mash, spinach & smoked paprika thing of my own invention with cauliflower and broccoli

BlackMozart · 31/10/2017 11:56

Thanks to whoever the poster was possibly carby who reminded me to get over to week 4!
I’ve basically stayed the same, down 0.25lb. If someone could add me to the sheet i’d Be grateful. I did ask when I first joined but was missed I think. I’ve tried to do it from my iPad but don’t seem to be able to.

I started at 23/10 at 196 so a m basically the same.
I said I would do 2 weeks no cheating and I will but it is a bit frustrating. I know I need a proper bm (sorry) but doubt that would make a big difference. I am 53, and peri menopausal and only 5ft 1ish and it is definitely harder this time to lose weight. I have lost 11 lbs in total since early sept but the first 3 weeks were low cal then a few weeks of lchf but with wine and choc and a lot of cheese so trying to adjust all of that.
Feeling a bit glum but soldiering on.

Congratulations to Creme and everyone else who is koko.
