Week 3 - the parting of the way! - Low Carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 23/10/2017 07:26

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope you've seen a good result, making for a very satisfying first two weeks.

Now. Those two weeks were probably quite tough, so if you want to, you can now move on to Bootcamp Light - the rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Essentially this means you can start to skip breakfast (or another meal) if you want to - if you're finding that you're not hungry. (Please don't skip meals for any other reason)

You can also introduce some fruit - mainly berries - in moderation, and also nuts and seeks - again, in moderation - and alcohol - IN MODERATION!

But. It's very often the case that in weeks 3 and 4 your weight loss will slow right down. Sometimes you may see a slight gain, even though you know you've been following Bootcamp to the letter. So you may not want to relax things quite yet.

Entirely up to you.

Remember, though, if you choose to stay on Bootcamp, please remember to make sure you're getting your carbs in the most part from vegetables and fruit - you need that for proper nutrition.

If you like you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

But whatever you choose - good luck and I hope you have a good week. Flowers

Thanks @prettybird, I'll take a look.

GrumpyOldFucker · 23/10/2017 14:54

@RaskolnikovsGarret yes, we are similar height I think. I certainly still have a bit of excess tummy at 8st 7lb but as I said I think this is a compromise that works better for me than being my 20 year old weight. My face is less saggy and gaunt and it’s easier to maintain than another stone lighter would be.

Must admit you are getting to me a little Wink but I don’t want to become obsessed by food/weight loss as I was in my tending to anorexic youth and I’m telling myself that BMI 21 size 8 / 10 is a perfectly acceptable place to be - I’m in a position now where I don’t worry about doing anything at all because of how fat I am, even though I don’t deny I could be skinnier.

I’m weight training 3 x a week and hope basically to improve my fat percentage by increasing muscle and staying the same weight. I’m considering getting a rebounder too to add more aerobics. On the other thread with heights and weights there was someone of our height who weighed over 9 stone but was a size 6 / 8 - she was sporty & muscular if I remember correctly.

Well done on your weight loss btw - it does get much harder when you’re so close to goal.

Rshard · 23/10/2017 14:59

Thanks for the week 3 thread BIWI. Some great losses and NSV’s. Not weighed myself yet, as out walking with dd and dh first thing and my Boots of choice is off a busy commuting route, will do it tomorrow.

gene we always have half litre bottles of water, I ha e a fresh bottle each day and then replenish from the tap. Easy to keep track of and a smallish quantity to get through. I aim for 1 litre am, pm and then evening.

raskov, lovely compliment from your dd

Good luck for the week ahead bootcsmpers!

ilovecherries · 23/10/2017 15:45

Katkin, that's a lovely NSV!

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 23/10/2017 16:31

It’s a bit of a rush in and run post today as I’m on the go. Thank you BIWI for the threads and keeping us going

I’ve got to under 12 stone, at last I’m 11 13 - I’m not adding it to the spreadsheet until I’ve had a l “movement” hopefully by tomorrow.

Well done on all your losses and don’t stress if you’ve not lost or as much as you’d like - you will lose weight -if you follow the BC rules - I’ve printed out a bullet pointed list for bc and bc and stuck them on the fridge so I DH and anyone else can see them.

As far as bc (hard) and bc lite go I’m probably similar to a lot of people here in that I do a hybrid mix. Most of the time I stick to the harder bc as I’m used to it now but I know I’ve got some flexibility if I want it and can go into lite mode.

Yolo I know, gone are the days of sticking an ad in the weekly paper under for sale. It was very easy to put an advert on Facebook and we sold it to a couple in our village - a few street away, amazingly

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 23/10/2017 16:37

Ps @OuaisMaisBon. I’m also (well) past the menopause and I’ve always been told “don’t put too much weight on as you get older as you’ll find it harder to take it off” I don’t know why, no one ever explained it to me. Maybe there’s some science behind it? I’ve lost 12lb in 10 weeks. It’s steadily going down and some weeks I’ve stalled especially weeks 3 and 4 which is fairly typical on bc

Almahart · 23/10/2017 16:42

No loss here but my fault as drank wine twice last week. Very happy to still be on here at week 3. I'm planning a really strict week this week.

Today I've had broccoli and blue cheese soup and supper wil be lamb chops with cauliflower cheese

Unfortunately we're going to a friends house for dinner on Saturday and those are always the hardest events to navigate

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 23/10/2017 16:47

Happy
Day 1 of 56 to go.

1lb down for me.
Congratulations to all and may the NSV be plentiful all week.

Looking forward to BC lite but will hold off for a week more as trying to crack the into 13st range.

Had a week off and didn't gain so pleased about that will be getting better portion control.

RaskolnikovsGarret · 23/10/2017 17:42

Sorry Grumpy, didn't mean to make you feel bad. I don't want to lose much more weight, and am just puzzled by the fat, and don't understand why it's there. My skinny twin sister is my own nemesis! It's great that you do exercise - I think that that could be the key, as I do nothing at all. Better to have a few extra pounds and be fit than a couch potato like me. But sorry again.

wecantallbeperfect · 23/10/2017 18:13

I have just tried celeriac mash, it was lush Shock Even fussy DD4 liked it, so I now have something else to eat with dinner. Hope everyone has had a great day Smile

GrumpyOldFucker · 23/10/2017 18:32

@RaskolnikovsGarret No need to apologise! I’m trying to avoid my own tendencies to be hypersensitive about such things Smile

It is weird how different we can all be at the same weight and height. Not just muscle but bone density too, I suspect. How annoying to have a skinny twin sister Wink

wombattoo · 23/10/2017 18:54

Hello everyone
I've read the full thread and congrats to all on the scales and non scales victories. Loving how everyone is staying so positive.

Cleareyes Thanks for updating the weights. It has saved me a job Thanks

BIWI Thanks for the new thread. Is it this week you are going away?

Stunt I hope the funeral went ok Thanks Your outfit looked lovely.

Rshard · 23/10/2017 18:58

Is ginger ok? Dh just made a broth with ginger, spring onion, coriander, garlic, lemongrass and mushrooms with chicken poached in it. It smells lush so I want to try but not sure about the ginger? 2 tbsp in whole recipe which serves 4. Thanks

GoBigOrange · 23/10/2017 19:03

Lost 2lb! I'm pleased and slightly surprised, as I've been struggling with the water. I'm managing the minimum requirement of 2 liters easily enough, but the 4 liters I should be having is defeating me. I'm aiming for 3 as a compromise.

I think I will stick to full boot camp for at least one more week, as I really do want to achieve my first goal of a stone off by Christmas.

And if I can keep the weight coming off at an average rate of 2lb a week, I could be at goal weight by my 37th birthday next summer! Or even at a more sedate 1lb a week, at least I can not be a roly-poly by next Christmas!

Good luck with the coming week everyone. May nobody be an accidental carby twat!

ASDismynormality · 23/10/2017 19:06

Rshard. That amount of ginger sounds fine, your dinner sounds lovely!

thedayismine · 23/10/2017 19:12

Hello all just checking in after a few days absence - really enjoyed hearing all the losses and resolve from those who have STS etc.
I didn't weigh today either . Was in a big rush and remain scared bad news might derail me !
Have been doing brilliantly with food if I do say so myself -
I even navigated a
Dinner party menu ok - turned down dauphinoise and pudding. I did however fall victim to the social temptation of alcohol which may be why I am scared
To see what the scales say .
Anyway I remain committed So all I can do is KOKo

In other news I am having an awful skin flare
Up - assume it's an allergic reaction to something but I look like I have sunburn and it's so itchy and painful I feel really fed up Confused

maybeitsbecauseim · 23/10/2017 19:12

Gah, gutted m. Am out for dinner and was super excited - when I checked the menu - to see celeriac mash. Turns out it's got potato in it. Glad I asked but was so looking forward to it!

Hippadippadation · 23/10/2017 19:17

I think we should rename this bootcamp as "The Celeriac One" or, in true "Friends" style - "The One With All The Celeriac" Grin

HarlotsWeb · 23/10/2017 19:20

B creamy coffee
L Parma ham and salad with olive oil
S olives
D lamb and spaghetti squash

(Have a sneaky feeling spaghetti squash might not be ok)

2 litres of water so far. Trying to get another one down me this evening.

Rshard · 23/10/2017 19:20

Thanks ASD, I will sample a bowl and report back! Dh and dd have had some and declared it to be just like a fish they had at Itsu the other week.

I got Jamie Oliver’s new Cook book today and there are lots of low carb recipes, plus others that include potatoes for example which could be removed easily. I skipped the rice/pasta section! Worth a look

blackteaplease · 23/10/2017 19:30

1.5lbs down this week which is good considering I gained 2lb overnight midweek but annoying as I had lost 3 lbs prior to that. My period turned up today so hopefully next week's loss will be better. My NSV for today is that so far I've had no cramps.

I did enjoy having berries with my yogurt for breakfast this morning. Must try to avoid pigging out on allowed food now I am BC lite.

Rshard · 23/10/2017 19:47

I bought some berries today too black, having them in yoghurt for breakfast tomorrow.

Today’s food
B - bacon and eggs
L - spinach rocket tomato with halloumi and paprika mayo
D - dh’s broth as described above with cauliflower rice - was lush.

Out early taking dd to her 5.15am swim session so have prepared breakfast - yoghurt and raspberries and lunch - salad with feta and avo to take to work with me

BIWI · 23/10/2017 19:51

Evening all. Glad to see some really good losses as well as lots of NSVs today!

@Rshard - to continue the celeriac love-in, most recipes with potatoes, you could use a celeriac instead.

I have a difficult challenge this evening - DH is a contractor and has just finished his latest contract. Hasn't got another one (he's waiting till after we come back from holiday to start looking), so he's decided he's going to do the cooking.

Lovely, you say. Well yes, but he has not clue about carbs, and I've only just discovered that the gorgeous-smelling pork stew he's prepared is thickened with flour, and along with the leeks he's cooked peas.

And then there are all the questions: is this a tablespoon? How do I cook leeks? Do I have to season the leeks? ...

Ah well.

JumpingIntoLCHF · 23/10/2017 19:52

Just a pound down to 250. Please could someone add that to the spreadsheet for me please?

Quick question - what difference does having your period make? I'm half way through and really thought I would have lost more than a pound so am wondering if I can blame it on being half way through my period!

Scabbersley · 23/10/2017 19:57

I'm absurdly excited about berries. Are strawberries the most low carb? Raspberries and blueberries are my fave
