Week 3 - the parting of the way! - Low Carb Bootcamp

BIWI · 23/10/2017 07:26

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope you've seen a good result, making for a very satisfying first two weeks.

Now. Those two weeks were probably quite tough, so if you want to, you can now move on to Bootcamp Light - the rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Essentially this means you can start to skip breakfast (or another meal) if you want to - if you're finding that you're not hungry. (Please don't skip meals for any other reason)

You can also introduce some fruit - mainly berries - in moderation, and also nuts and seeks - again, in moderation - and alcohol - IN MODERATION!

But. It's very often the case that in weeks 3 and 4 your weight loss will slow right down. Sometimes you may see a slight gain, even though you know you've been following Bootcamp to the letter. So you may not want to relax things quite yet.

Entirely up to you.

Remember, though, if you choose to stay on Bootcamp, please remember to make sure you're getting your carbs in the most part from vegetables and fruit - you need that for proper nutrition.

If you like you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

But whatever you choose - good luck and I hope you have a good week. Flowers

Oo oo ooh!

Forgot to say

I am now in the 12stones!!!

ilovecherries · 23/10/2017 10:02

I am thoroughly enjoying being in the 12 stone. And my NSV for the day is that in August (just after I got into the 13s, I bought a dress for dad's birthday meal out. Put it on today as I'm taking them out for lunch and it is falling off me. :)

InkyToesies · 23/10/2017 10:19

Great news on everyone's losses and NSVs. I'm not weighing weekly so haven't a number to contribute, but I do feel so much better and have had many small NSVs.

@BIWI Just wondering, do I put a zero in the spreadsheet for my non-weigh weeks, or leave it blank?

Im new to LCHF, and don't want to self-sabotage as I have always done in the past by reacting in a completely loony way to whatever result I see on the scales, whether it's a loss, gain or stay the same. I'll just enjoy the process and hopefully the results will look after themselves.

Something that's occurred to me...I tend to shop in Lidl and Aldi because, apart from the price, I like how they have a limited stock. So when I have to go into a big e.g. Sainsbury's for an item I can't find in L or A, I feel overwhelmed and anxious - almost hypnotised - by the miles of aisles of, mostly, crap, and feel an urge to buy even though I don't want or need it. It's a relief to get out.

SayrraT · 23/10/2017 10:36

inky you can do either with the spreadsheet as long as you have a start weight in the first weighing column.

cleareyes spreadsheet is correct. Total weight lost = starting weight - current weight and weekly loss = last week's weight - this week's weight.

i.e. Start weight 100 lbs

1st week 99 lbs (total loss = 1 and weekly loss = 1)

2nd week 101 lbs (total loss = -1 (i.e. 1lb on) and weekly loss = -2 i.e 2lbs heavier than last weeks lower weight).

3rd week 99 lbs (total loss = 1 and weekly loss = 2)

Does that make sense?

ClearEyesFullHearts · 23/10/2017 10:38

Jerm I've entered your weights on spreadsheet. Well done, and to everyone.

Veryflummoxed · 23/10/2017 10:39

Sorry not caught up yet so just posting this

Scabbersly. I enjoy hot almond milk (the unroasted one) with cream. I do not think everyday would be a good idea, for me anyway, but it definitely fills a hole.

That’s how I did it Quais chip shapes roasted. And covered with grated cheese. And I don’t really think a month is long enough to try it. If you go the whole bootcamp (strictly no cheating) and don’t loose then maybe try something else

SoMuchToBits · 23/10/2017 10:42

inky, that's why I do a monthly online shop for the cleaning products/store cupboard/dairy things, and do the rest of my shopping at the local greengrocers and butchers (and the fish man who delivers), with the occasional top-up at my local small Sainsbury for more dairy. That way I don't get faced with too many aisles of crap!

No loss here today, but at least I haven't put any on. I'm sticking with Bootcamp for the moment. I don't feel a real need for fruit, nuts etc, and with alcohol if I have one I'll end up drinking loads, so it's better to avoid.

The greengrocer didn't have any celeriac today, but should be getting some in tomorrow afternoon, so I'll buy some later in the week.

GrumpyOldFucker · 23/10/2017 10:51

Celeriac, parmesan & bacon rosti. Just found this recipe, it would be yummy with poached eggs for brunch.

prettybird · 23/10/2017 11:01

I've done celeriac rösti before - they are lush Smile

Flummoxed - your bolds worked this time Grin

TempusEejit · 23/10/2017 11:17

Down by 5.2 lb this week - I'm finally in the 11 stone somethings! It's an artificially big drop as I more or less stayed the same in week one due to a birthday celebration meal the day before weigh-in (low carb but large volume/went over on my calories). So 5.5 lb loss over the first two weeks which I'm really pleased with as I've already been eating low carb since June this year.

Well done everyone on their losses/ NSVs!

Thiswillbemyusername · 23/10/2017 11:34

Congrats everyone

(Placemarking as thread goes so fast on Mondays and i forget where I read up to!)

Scabbersley · 23/10/2017 11:40

Oh yes meant to say my bloated growly tummy has disappeared on this WOE.

At a sports thing all day. Have brought marmite cheese and a tuna salad with me.

FinallyHere · 23/10/2017 11:41

Morning all, I'm koko-ing and hope you are all too. Thinking about exercise this week, I haven't really got into a good autumn/winter routine yet and am noticing the lack.

In other news, I can strongly recommend the sainted celeriac to get things ahem, moving, Scabbersley. I peel and chop up a whole one, roast with a couple of shallots, garlic and coconut oil for an hour on a quite high setting, add chopped chorizo and give it a further fifteen/twenty minutes. Delicious, and very, very effective.

Scabbersley · 23/10/2017 11:43

Brilliant finally

I will try that

SayrraT · 23/10/2017 11:46

this you can "bookmark" the post you are on then when you come back to the thread it whizzes you back to the post. On the version I'm on (mobile site I think) there are 3 wee dots at the bottom right of all posts. Click on that and choose "bookmark".

Thanks BIWI for BC it's great Grin

GeneandFred · 23/10/2017 12:03

Hi all! Thanks for the new thread. So this is my first weigh in as I started a week late. I'm 5lb down which I'm over the moon with. I'm continuing on strong and just about to make a cheese omelette for lunch. Still struggling with water intake, any tips?

prettybird · 23/10/2017 12:16

I'm not going to formally weigh in until tomorrow: we had dinner at my dad's last night (last one for 5 weeks as he's off to South Africa next Sunday for 3 weeks) and he made it a special one: starter of tuna pate (made with tinned tuna, a tub of Philadelphia, a grated onion, a few drops of Tabasco and some melted butter - it was very nice and I just a lived the biscuits to spread it on); followed by Beef Bourgignon with French beans and Pommes boulangeres (just avoided them); but the killer was the poached pears served with a caramel sauce. I only had half a pear with a tiny bit of caramel sauce and very little poaching liquid Blush but should have said No. Blush

However, I'm not going to apologise for breaking the "no alcohol in Boot Camp" rule a day early: he served us up a glass of champagne and then a bottle of 1992 Penfolds Grange Shock Those of you who know anything about fine wines will know what a big deal this was - and it was indeed worth it Smile. It would cost £365 to buy a bottle in a shop today! Shock (Dh and I had had a bottle of 1982 Grange at our wedding 19 years ago, which was also fantastic - dh had bought it years beforehand when he was still with his 1st wife for only £18 and it would have cost c£100 back then to buy in a shop/£300 in a restaurant Shock).

I was driving (in Scotland to boot, so an even lower limit) so was only able to have a glass of each over the 2.5 hours we were there.

It was Dad's last bottle of Grange - Mum and Dad used to bring back bottles when he did locums in Australia and/or were visiting Mum's siblings (and then bought them from the Wine Society when it became cheaper than buying in Oz Confused) Dh (to whom they used to give a bottle for a Christmas or birthday present) still has quite a few different vintages stashed away for us to enjoy at a future date. Smile

prettybird · 23/10/2017 12:19

Forgot to mention the other reason I'm not weighing in formally until tomorrow: it's been a few days since I had a proper movement Blush every little counts Grin

prettybird · 23/10/2017 12:21

Unfortunately, celeriac doesn't seem to have the same effect on me as for Finally Blush

may need to try to sugar free sweets Wink

Katkin14 · 23/10/2017 12:22

I lost a lb which I'm pleased about as I'm 7 weeks in to this WOE. Big NSV for me over the weekend was finally fitting into my mum's running clothes. She died 18 months ago and was always quite fit and always smaller than me. I put on a lot of weight in the year after she died and when I decided to try and lose it 6 months ago, I vowed I would use her running clothes. Well yesterday was the first day I could get them on. So perhaps a bit macabre running around in my dead DM's clothes, but it gives me a sense of comfort.

Cherrypi · 23/10/2017 12:28

Sorry biwi. I've been drinking coffee, decaffeinated coffee and fruit tea. Doing better with water today. On my fourth glass.

SayrraT · 23/10/2017 12:32

katkin I don't think that's macabre at all, I think it's lovely and well done that's a fantastic NSV
