Week 3 - the parting of the way! - Low Carb Bootcamp

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope you've seen a good result, making for a very satisfying first two weeks.

Now. Those two weeks were probably quite tough, so if you want to, you can now move on to Bootcamp Light - the rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Essentially this means you can start to skip breakfast (or another meal) if you want to - if you're finding that you're not hungry. (Please don't skip meals for any other reason)

You can also introduce some fruit - mainly berries - in moderation, and also nuts and seeks - again, in moderation - and alcohol - IN MODERATION!

But. It's very often the case that in weeks 3 and 4 your weight loss will slow right down. Sometimes you may see a slight gain, even though you know you've been following Bootcamp to the letter. So you may not want to relax things quite yet.

Entirely up to you.

Remember, though, if you choose to stay on Bootcamp, please remember to make sure you're getting your carbs in the most part from vegetables and fruit - you need that for proper nutrition.

If you like you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

But whatever you choose - good luck and I hope you have a good week. Flowers

Katkin - I have similar objectives - only in my case it's getting into my mum's clothes who was always taller and bigger than me ShockBlush She had some lovely classic and expensive clothes (like trousers) that even though she died 5 years ago are still totally wearable. They will also do nicely as transition clothes as I go through that weight to a smaller size says I hopefully Wink

RaininSummer · 23/10/2017 12:42

Yes, should have said - although I only lost a pound - I am in the ELEVENS whoop!

NSEA · 23/10/2017 12:46

I am 151 today. Please can someone update the spreadsheet for me?

NSEA · 23/10/2017 12:47

Finally in the tens!! Need a great week this week so no danger of going back into the elevens!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 23/10/2017 13:02

I've updated the spreadsheet for you, NSEA.

Been doing a lot of that today. It's like I've come over all Holly Helpful when in fact I'm having the laziest half term day ever .

DearPrudence · 23/10/2017 13:05

Is it OK to join you in week 3?

I've just finished celebrating my 50th birthday, which has included two weekends away among other things, and I'd love to join.
Had brilliant success on bootcamp about a year ago, and kept the weight off for a while, but in the last few months it's crept up again.

I feel ready to give it 100% commitment now.

Mimosa1 · 23/10/2017 13:19

Welcome DearPrudence definitely ok to join. You may want to do Bootcamp for 2 weeks or go straight to Bootcamp Light - either way the rules are in a link in the first post of this thread. Is the name related to the Slate column? I'm a big fan Smile

Jerm123 · 23/10/2017 13:24

Many thanks Cleareyes, for entering my stats.

Does anyone have a deep fat fryer? I am trying to think of ways of adding fat/oil to my diet. Most of my cooking skills have been developed around lean, proteins and lots of veg.

I was thinking about deep fried chicken and (celeriac) chips with coleslaw, to counter the times when the rest of the family deliveroo. I’m sure I can do this sort of meal under Bootcamp light rules. Obviously not every day, but would sort out the Friday night take away gap.

BIWI is hot oil as OK for you as butter, or dressing oil.

Frigglet · 23/10/2017 13:28

Good afternoon all. Great to see some fabulous losses. I’m not ashamed to say that I’m disappointed that I’ve only lost 2 pounds since last week. I worked so bloody hard as well, but I know it’s not all about the scales, so I’ll definitely koko.

Frigglet · 23/10/2017 13:34

Ohh, forgot to ask...a couple of posters have mentioned Keto sticks - what are they pls? And do I need one? Cheers.

prettybird · 23/10/2017 13:35

Dearprudence - jump right in Smile

For optimum effect, you should do the full Boot Camp for your first 2 weeks before possibly going on to Boot Camp Lite - but you know that already! Grin

Even though I had alcohol last night Blush but it was worth it I'm going to continue with full Boot Camp for the moment with only maybe a couple of days on Lite in a week. I find it far too easy to fall face first into loads of nuts and the odd one or two or four Blush square of dark chocolate. Funnily enough, I'm ok with having just the odd glass of good wine and not succumbing to more Grin

Impressed with this on lunch out!

frigglet why are you disappointed? 2 lbs is great! How much are you expecting to lose?

And no, you don't need keto sticks. They are for measuring ketones in urine to check that you are in ketosis. Only problem is that on BC you should be drinking so much that the keto sticks can't detect ketones.

CarbyDeadUn · 23/10/2017 13:52

Thanks Clear. I’ll take a look.

In bed for a night shift nap. Have made a chicken cream pesto leek thing for tonight. I’ll have spinach too.
Egg mayo and avocado for lunch.

And water. Must drink more water.

NSEA · 23/10/2017 13:54

Thank you cleareyes

singadream · 23/10/2017 14:01

remind me why we need to drink so much water?

singadream · 23/10/2017 14:03

I just managed to look at the spreadsheet for the first time. Love the percentage loss bit - if I have lost 2.75% that's like losing a whole foot or hand or love handle isn't it? Feeling inspired...

SayrraT · 23/10/2017 14:26

sing to help flush the ketones out of your body so that your body keeps burning fat, if ketones in your blood are too high can reduce ketone production (fat burning). It also reduces water retention and stops ketone breath Grin

Scabbersley · 23/10/2017 14:28

Only problem is that on BC you should be drinking so much that the keto sticks can't detect ketones,

Damn. I just ordered some!

princessbear80 · 23/10/2017 14:31

Have read from the top now, and want to say well done everyone.

The NSVs are great. Particularly loved @RaskolnikovsGarret story about her daughter telling her how great she looked in the new size 10 dress. And @Katkin14 that's great about your mum's running gear. And @HolgerDanske No cravings for sweets, cakes, bread, etc, so no daily struggle with 'being good'. - it's so good to lose that feeling! I'll also be stealing your fajitas in lettuce and chorizo and calamari ideas Smile

Can anyone recommend a good recipe for chicken thighs with skin on? Never cooked with them before, not sure how to make them nice and crispy. Quite fancy something spicy.

Tonight I'm doing chicken breast stuffed with garlic butter mushrooms and halloumi, then all wrapped up in prosciutto.

Like @Jerm123 said - Thank you BIWI and everyone who actively posts on this thread. It helps me to keep focused on the diet when I’m a bit down about the amount I need to loose. Just that really, you're all great!

singadream · 23/10/2017 14:34

thanks SayrraT

singadream · 23/10/2017 14:35

Thanks @SayrraT

ClearEyesFullHearts · 23/10/2017 14:35

You can still piss on them, Scabbersley, we won't shun you.

Didn't mean to prod for thanks with the Holly Helpful comment, by the way. It was my pleasure and a great little displacement activity.

DearPrudence · 23/10/2017 14:36

Thanks for having me Smile

I'm definitely going to start with full-on Bootcamp. Had tuna, mayo, lettuce and some cheese for lunch, and have had loads of water.

prettybird · 23/10/2017 14:41

Princess - if you look at the last thread, I wrote a post with a recipe for sticky lemon chicken: roasted chicken thigh with skin on and bone in. It's a family favourite - and does result in nice crispy skin.
