Week 3 - the parting of the way! - Low Carb Bootcamp

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet

Hope you've seen a good result, making for a very satisfying first two weeks.

Now. Those two weeks were probably quite tough, so if you want to, you can now move on to Bootcamp Light - the rules are on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Essentially this means you can start to skip breakfast (or another meal) if you want to - if you're finding that you're not hungry. (Please don't skip meals for any other reason)

You can also introduce some fruit - mainly berries - in moderation, and also nuts and seeks - again, in moderation - and alcohol - IN MODERATION!

But. It's very often the case that in weeks 3 and 4 your weight loss will slow right down. Sometimes you may see a slight gain, even though you know you've been following Bootcamp to the letter. So you may not want to relax things quite yet.

Entirely up to you.

Remember, though, if you choose to stay on Bootcamp, please remember to make sure you're getting your carbs in the most part from vegetables and fruit - you need that for proper nutrition.

If you like you can do a hybrid - Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

But whatever you choose - good luck and I hope you have a good week. Flowers

Thanks BIWI, good tip.

Lol at your dh cooking! Does he make a huge mess and use every pan/dish/utensil? Mine does, bless him.

FurryTurnip · 23/10/2017 20:03

Putting in my food for today as I feel like I am teetering on the edge a bit tonight- no idea why apart from a busy day and I'm v tired and tempted by the cupboards:

B: 2 boiled eggs
L: (out) M&S Greek salad and a chunk of Brie
D: Thai vegetable red curry and cauli rice
S: (both eaten since dinner so just being greedy really) ball of mozzarella with pesto, Greek yogurt with double cream and a few nuts

I am now avoiding the kitchen!

singadream · 23/10/2017 20:06

I was wondering that too @JumpingIntoLCHF. Am similar weight to you and also on period. Usually I lose all willpower on period but have been ok this time so far.

Pannacott · 23/10/2017 20:10

I've lost 2.75 lbs this week! Which is a nice surprise, I had a busy weekend and slowed down on water, also upped my coffee with cream habit. Apart from a glass of wine at the weekend I've been very good food wise though. I did quite a lot of walking too. I was expecting it to slow down this week so very pleased with that. I've lost 6.75 lbs over the two weeks :)

prettybird · 23/10/2017 20:13

I'm putting off having blueberries with my yoghurt until at least next Monday.

I'm not craving them - but I'm struggling to have my 5-a-Day so at least that would get one of them right at the start of the day. I've been resorting to snacking on raw broccoli/cauliflower/runner beans to try to up my veg intake Shock

Scabbersley · 23/10/2017 20:22

Yes I'm not having them until next week. I am also having a vodka and soda next Friday night Shock

BlackMozart · 23/10/2017 20:26

Hello everyone
Would it be ok to join you? I’m an old veteran of pig2twig from many years ago just returning to LCHF woe. I have re-read India’s/Neris’s book but think I need the focus of BC to keep me on the straight and narrow and off weekend red wine and nightly square of dark chocolate for at least two weeks. Have read the whole of the week 2 thread - brilliant - and so am taking a deep breath ready to jump in. I know that lots of people will be moving on to lite but assume there will also be some sticking with boot camp. If there is thread with boot camp rules can someone let me know and I weigh on a Tuesday morning when I remember so do I need to change the day to fit in with this ?

I love the balance of kindness and backside kicking I’ve read here. I’ve no doubt I’ll need both. 😊

SayrraT · 23/10/2017 20:27

Carb counts for berries (and other fruit) on spreadsheet. Please use it, it took a lot of work from various people to put it together Grin

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 23/10/2017 20:34

Where is that from littlebillie? Is it pret? I could do with some good breakfasts on the go for when I’m out and about.

I cut the keto sticks in half scabbers so they last twice as long. Especially as I use them pointlessly even when I know I must be in ketosis.

Not the best day today. Had colleagues leaving lunch in the pub with literally nothing on menu. I ordered chicken wings as I thought it would be ok and when they came they were battered. I did my best to pick it off.

B- celery, pate and cream cheese
L- 5 chicken wings, pumpkin and paneer curry with cauliflower rice
D- gammon steak, buttered kale and now a a celeriac and bacon rosti cos that sounds amazing!

Hi to the newcomers!

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 23/10/2017 20:36

@BlackMozart on BIWI post there is a link "here's the spreadsheet"

All the rules and information are in there.

Good luck

BlackMozart · 23/10/2017 20:42

Thank you Grah I have had a look.
Realise it might take me while to get used to the conventions here e.g. how to use others usernames. First time on Mumsnet for me too.

Scabbersley · 23/10/2017 20:52

SayrraT

It's hard to see on my phone. I do read it when I'm in the office on my PC!

Lenl · 23/10/2017 21:02

My 2 year old DS had emergency exploratory surgery today Shock he's fine thank god but it's been a long day. I'd eaten an omelette for breakfast before I realised there was a problem and called the GP (who sent us straight to hospital) so that coupled with anxiety meant I didn't get hungry all day. I did eat a small bar of green&blacks 70% whilst waiting for the longest hour of my life while he was in theatre, which was 12.8g carbs though. Then some cheese when we finally got home this evening. I figure the worry and lack of other food might possibly mitigate the chocolate.

Poor little boy he was so sad when he woke up. Wouldn't know now though he's wide awake playing now. I guess the anaesthetic left him well rested!

ASDismynormality · 23/10/2017 21:05

Lenl, that sounds like a really diffiyday, I hope your DS recovers quickly.

Gammeldragz · 23/10/2017 21:20

Weighed in at 168.6lbs. Could someone please add that for me? Not my lowest weight of the week. But still a loss.
celeriac cheesey chips sorry, taken me a while to rtft. Here's how I do mine...
Deep fry celeriac (cut into fries) until browned. Put in oven dish. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Oven/grill until melted.

I love my deep fryer. I want to put lard/dripping in it rather than oil, but too scared I will break it.

dataandspot · 23/10/2017 21:36

BIWI

Is the carb count for pistachios with them being weighed without shells?

I have been eating peanuts ( vege 14 weeks low carbing) so want to do the same amount as I have been eating in carbs in peanuts as I am doing well. Thankyou.

Copperas · 23/10/2017 21:38

Leni
I hope your DS is doing well: I think you were amazingy restrained in the circumstances

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 23/10/2017 21:44

Just popped back in to thank GrumpyOldFucker for the rosti recipe. It was absolutely delicious. They didn’t have Parmesan in Tesco so I used cheddar but that seemed to work fine.

Sorry you’ve had a tough day Leni look after yourself and I hope your DC gets better soon. MFlowers

princessbear80 · 23/10/2017 21:47

@Lenl sounds like a very upsetting day. Hope both you and your son are ok!

SayrraT · 23/10/2017 21:49

SayrraT · 23/10/2017 21:50

blackmozart you can weigh whenever you like. If Tues works best for you then do that Smile

twinkledag · 23/10/2017 21:54

Late report here of 2lbs off Smile

BlackMozart · 23/10/2017 22:07

Although new on here wanted to send good wishes to Lenl after such a tough day.
Also two silly newbie questions - what’s NSV? And why are my posts coming up purple? Thanks

Copperas · 23/10/2017 22:13

I see no purple!
NSV is a Non-Scales Victory - so inches lost, or energy gained, or clothing fitting that didn't before, or no IBS

prettybird · 23/10/2017 22:18

Welcome BlackMozart Smile

Your posts will come up as reddish/purplish on the app so you can find your own posts easily. The OP (original poster) will also show as a different colour (dark purple on the app). That's why BIWI starts these Boot Camp threads, so we can easily see her posts.

NSV stands for "Non Scales Victory" - to be celebrated and appreciated for all sorts of reasons, not least of which is that sometimes we lose inches/change shape before (and after) losing the weight on this WoE (Way of Eating).
