I love this week, because this is when all the naysayers and doubters realise that this WOE really works!

(... and those who've cheated realise that that really doesn't work Wink)

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to record your first loss

I missed most of this weekend as I have my very lovely SIL staying with us, prior to her leaving for a 6 month stint in Australia. So I haven't been able to be as glued to the laptop as I am usually.

Glad to hear that some of you have reported in good losses already - I'll look forward to hearing the rest today!

Good luck everyone, for this second week. Hopefully after a good first week you'll know it's worth it Flowers

Thanks NOMORE that's really interesting, I'll have to do a bit more research. I also suffered from reflux prior to going LCHF, I've not had a single episode since dropping carbs & have stopped taking the stuff the doctor prescribed completely. It's one of the main reason I'm determined to carry on, reflux can be surprisingly painful. The first time it happened I called my mum in the middle of the night as I was in so much pain Blush

Gosh C4. How frightening for you, wishing a speedy recovery so you can get home soon.

C4rollinandventing · 19/10/2017 12:45

Hello, I'm posting on behalf of C4 I'm her PA. Her husband said to let you all know what's going on because she has had so much support from this site it's done her loads of good, the weight loss is an added bonus.
She has double pneumonia and will most likely be put into an induced coma later today, at the moment she is on a machine that is not just ventilating her but is also compressing her chest externally, she is in the only room in HDU that has a family bedroom attached to it so I think it's as serious as it gets.

If you pray please do.

If whoever is in charge feels it's inappropriate for me to offer updates, or you don't want them please let me know.

A

Thank you so much for update* on C4* , A. It is totally appropriate for you to do this.

I will be sending positive vibes C4's way Flowers

Look after yourself too Flowers

BTW - flummoxed (and others that suffer the bold gremlin): I know why mine "failed". It's because I didn't ensure that there was a space after using the Bold - even commas or apostrophes need a space after using Bold.

starsky22 · 19/10/2017 13:10

A thank you so much for posting and please do keep us updated, C4 is very special to us all here, I'm sending lots of positive healing thoughts her way. Hugs to you and her DH too.

Escapepeas · 19/10/2017 13:25

Bloody hell, I've just read back a bit after not being on the thread for a couple of days and seen the news about C4. Fingers crossed and hope she makes a good recovery.

GrumpyOldFucker · 19/10/2017 13:34

Not sure my weight story is that interesting as this time I was just trying to get back to goal after the summer. Anyway, just in case, in Jan 16 I was pushing 11 stone and that motivated me to do something. Unfortunately I didn't know about bootcamp at that point.

I lost weight slowly on a low carb diet - about 8lb by September. I also had a pretty serious thing wrong with my spine so all exercise was off the cards (I used to be a runner) so I was reasonably happy but there was a lot more to lose.

I then decided to get on with it and did a low cal low carb diet which is about the only way I can actually lose 2lb a week, being 5' 2" and in my late fifties.

I reached goal of 8st 7lb just before Christmas, and I have maintained it all year* by doing 5:2 and by being moderately low carb. I don't have a big sweet tooth, and I'm happy eating low carb at home, so I just relaxed a bit on meals out and wine, and then Mon / Tue came along and anything I'd put on dropped off.

*This failed to work on holiday with no fast days, so I put on 7lb over the summer in 3 lumps.

Then I joined this bootcamp at 9st, and knowing I find it so hard to lose, I was very strict in both portion size and in snacking, and carried on exercising - I lift weights 3 x a week, as well as the dog walking. I know not what you’re supposed to do but I’m experienced at low carb, never suffer, and wanted a Big Bang approach to start with.

I've been so pleased with how bootcamp has gone - better than I dared believe. I'll continue with BC Lite and some fasting and hope to drop a ½ to 1 pound a week from now on in a more sustainable way. (Until goal of course!)

The only fat photo I have is the motivational (demotivational?) one I took in Jan 16, and the success photo is from about Nov that year - don't have anything for this time, but I'm at the same weight as in that photo - just before goal.

WARNING - the before photo may put you off your dinner. This may of course be a good thing!

GrumpyOldFucker · 19/10/2017 13:35

Oh, shit, just read A's news. Apologies for that last post, a bit inappropriate. Fingers crossed for C4 and a swift recovery.

Thinking of you too, C4 and your family.

Cherrypi, thanks for mentioning the radio programme - I have just listened to it on iPlayer, and it was very interesting.

Grumpy, you can really see the difference in your before and after photos. That has given me a lot of motivation.

Rshard · 19/10/2017 14:05

StuntNun · 19/10/2017 16:08

Thanks for the update C4's PA. I'm sure you're all very worried about her. Fingers crossed she recovers quickly. I'm sure she has given at least as much support as she has received since she joined the Bootcamp threads, we're lucky to have her with her wry sense of humour.
