Thanks all. Makes me feel a bit better!

BIWI · 17/09/2017 08:51

@Mimosa1 these things happen - don't worry about it! It's a fact of life that at some point you'll be in a situation where what you have to eat is out of your control. The only thing to do then is to enjoy it, but to get back on the wagon asap afterwards. Don't use it as an excuse to indulge in all manner of other high carb things.

@GCalske welcome back!

@FruitCide if you can find one of the Bootcamp spreadsheets, you'll find stuff there about vegetarian options - essentially you need to follow Bootcamp Light, so that you can include nuts and seeds in your daily diet. But also go and find the Bootcamp recipe thread - it's stickied at the top of the Bootcamp topic. There are lots of vegetarian recipes there.

@poorbuthappy - welcome! Yes, from everything I've heard from posters over the last 5 years (Shock 5 years!), low carbing can mess (in the short term) with your periods. I believe it's because oestrogen is released as you lose fat, and it's this hormone that messes things up. But as others have said, it should settle down soon.

I notice, too, that you say you're heading into week 3. Prepare yourself for the fact that weeks 3 and 4 are notorious for lack of weight loss. Don't despair, and just keep on keeping on, and you'll be fine.

littlebillie · 17/09/2017 08:52

I wasn't great yesterday but I trying to keep my weight in the same 1-2lb area over the week. After reaching my Bmi the week what would be reasonable to sit at 23-24 so we are in range?

I am also out training twice a week and although I am seeing slight improvement in fitness my fat ratio seems the same any thoughts?

BIWI · 17/09/2017 08:55

What is your fat ratio though?

If you're happy with what you look like and how your clothes are fitting, I'd use that as my guide - whilst continuing to improve my fitness overall.

If you want to burn fat, then continuing on a low carb diet, along with weight/resistance training, is the best way to achieve this.

starsky22 · 17/09/2017 09:07

As the weather is getting colder I'm thinking about cooking stews and casseroles, but does anyone have tips for thickening them without flour?

ASDismynormality · 17/09/2017 09:30

Right there are 14 weeks until Christmas so I have been making some calculations - I need to lose 21.5lbs to get my BMI into the overweight range, that's 1.5lbs per week which I feel is realistic. I am determined not to be obese by Christmas!

C4pinkwheels · 17/09/2017 09:40

Welcome new people.

I haven't caught up on the thread but I present myself to the namaste Bitches for absolutely brutal punishment. My car by twatishness is as follows:

Champagne and macaroons x 4 immediately after the wedding.

More champagne on arrival at the reception x 3 glasses.

Lobster soup with a tiny piece of bread
White wine x 2

Elderflower sorbet with a shot of something

Fish with a sweet blackberry sauce and green veg.
Rose wine x 1

Apple sorbet with a shot of rocket fuel

Roast beef, tiny baby veg and mash
Red wine x 3

Baileys x 2

Chocolate mouse cake with ice cream
Desert wine

Port x lots & lots 4 that I recall but people are saying twice that.

Cheese & beer

I'm proud to say that DH and I were still on the dance floor at 3:00am when they brought the hot dogs out

I fully loaded dog 3 vodka shots

I'm positive that if it wasn't for the fact I'm in the wheelchair I would have fallen flat on my face. I haven't had a proper drink since January but managed to get a whole years worth in in one day.

No drama, no fights there were tears but of happiness.

Oh and various things from the buffet this morning.

That's it I think I'm still drunk.

littlebillie · 17/09/2017 09:40

I have been misreading my scales I thought 51.5% I'm actually 23% which is healthy for my age 😐

poorbuthappy · 17/09/2017 09:44

Thank you BIWI and thank you C4 for that epic update!!! Grin

littlebillie · 17/09/2017 09:45

That said I still think 10lbs of fat loss would be beneficial and I would not be skinny at that weight. Funny the more I lose the fatter I feel, or perhaps it's just years of ignore ignore catching up with me.

C4 sounds like a great night and the Danish food is mostly very healthy!

Gcalgske · 17/09/2017 09:48

Hello Biwi and starsky Grin

I had a baby 13 weeks ago and while I was pretty good during the pregnancy I have gained so so much weight in the last 13 weeks because apparently "you'll lose weight when you breadtfeed" isn't true if you are insulin resistant and all you do is sit about eating crisps, chocolate and flapjacks (for the oats obvs) Wink

So I'm back in ketosis this week and eating low carb / moderate protein/ high fat but constantly worrying about my milk supply. I'm just not hungry much so would do intermittent fasting but I have no idea if that's ok when feeding so currently trying to eat (within macros) at 'normal' times. Anyone done any IF while feeding a baby?

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 17/09/2017 09:52

C4 that sounds brilliant and if you can't have a day off for a wedding, then when can you? Just get right back on it. Glad there was no drama too.

My food plan for today:
B - greek yoghurt & some chopped up brazil nuts (as I'm going running)
L - something with eggs
D - chicken thighs & salad & mayo (at work)

Off out for a run now.

ilovecherries · 17/09/2017 09:59

My mum made me cry this morning. We were walking round the battlefield at Culloden and she suddenly said 'I don't want you to think this is a criticism of how you looked before, because I always thought you were beautiful, but you look amazing just now. You look so healthy and glowing'. My parents are dour highlanders who never hand out compliments. Smile

ilovecherries · 17/09/2017 10:03

Plus mum is trying really hard to make good low carb meals. She's a great cook, but low carb is a complete, early alien concept to her. She's constantly hot her head in the IPD cook book planning my next meal Grin

SayrraT · 17/09/2017 10:13

Aww, ilove that's lovely. Smile

ASDismynormality · 17/09/2017 10:14

ilove. That's really lovely.

prettybird · 17/09/2017 10:23

That's so lovely Ilovecherries Smile....and Flowers to your mum.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 17/09/2017 10:30

Funny the more I lose the fatter I feel, or perhaps it's just years of ignore ignore catching up with me.

What do you mean "ignore ignore" catching up, littlebillie?

CiderwithBuda · 17/09/2017 10:37

Ilove - that's lovely. Well done your mum. The moussaka from the IPD book is good btw.

C4 - respect! Grin Sounds like a fab day and night. And I thought I drank a lot last night!

Welcome newbies and not so new.

So went to a ball last night. Had a glass of fizz and a couple of glasses of crappy white wine and then quite a bit of red wine. Food was good. Tomato and mozzarella salad to start. Roast cod in walnut crust for main with broccoli and a couple of carrots. Then a huge bowl of buttered boiled potatoes in their jackets came past and they smelt amazing. I took one small one and ate half of it. Pudding was a really lovely chocolate pud with cream. Very delicious but very rich. Ate about half. A bit of dancing and home by midnight. Then in bed I couldn't sleep and was starving so got up and had a cheese sandwich! Back on track today.

Have a good day everyone.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 17/09/2017 10:37

They may rarelynhand out compliments, cherries but she sure knows how to do 'em right!

It can be tricky for some with parents, but the cooking thing is so sweet and supportive. It makes me smile.

I won't bother to catch up with everybody's updates as it would take so long but have been reading thread thoroughly and am trying to find anyone who has stayed SSS?! Grin

I certainly haven't. Hmm But I am now, so that's all I can ask for.

wombattoo · 17/09/2017 11:00

Welcome back Gcal. I remember you from previous boot camps. Congratulations on your new arrival Thanks

Welcome also to poor and fruit

Hello poor , fruit and Gcalgske welcome, great to have even mire people doing this woe

C4 wow, I have serious party envy, that really was a session.

Glad your ball went well, ragz

ilove what a lovely, and finely judged, compliment from your mother seem to have something in my eye

FinallyHere · 17/09/2017 12:08

And more people is good, too.

BIWI · 17/09/2017 12:11

@starsky22 I make beef stew fairly regularly and never bother thickening the liquid.

Put less in to start with, or if it's really liquidy, take the meat/veg out of your casserole dish with a slotted spoon and into another dish, and then boil the liquid down a bit so it's more concentrated.

Alternatively, depending on what veg you've used, you can take some of that out, and mash or liquidise it, and use that to thicken the sauce.
