c4 YAY for your daughter and YAY for Alfie! Flowers

BIWI · 07/09/2017 18:10

Aww! Welcome to the world Alfie! Flowers

marioncole · 07/09/2017 18:13

Exactly my thoughts cleareyes. I asked her how old the doctor was and it seems relatively young. I have pointed out that the bowl of porridge will undo it all but she's going with what the doctor had told her (which to be fair you can understand). I've learnt now never to tell a doctor what I eat Wink

TimeIhadaNameChange · 07/09/2017 18:16

Thanks for the well wishes.

C4 - Huge congratulations on both accounts. Please pass on our best wishes to all concerned!

BIWI · 07/09/2017 18:23

Cider I always regard the gurgly tummy as a good sign! (No idea why, though - but it does seem to indicate that I'm on track when it starts)

prettybird · 07/09/2017 18:24

C4 - that's a goodly weight. Welcome to Alfie SmileFlowers

OldBooks · 07/09/2017 18:29

Lovely news on both counts C4! You must be so proud of your daughter Grin

Marion my dad refuses to start this WOE as he is afraid of cholesterol, and claims that it killed Dr Atkins. Showing him articles online against this doesn't sway him.

My mum however announced to me this afternoon that she is going to start the woe tomorrow Hmm I said it would have helped me if she had started it when I arrived so we could have done it together. She protested that there was no way I could have stuck to the woe while on holiday HmmHmm no wonder I have been a carby twat Sad

ClearEyesFullHearts · 07/09/2017 18:40

I've learnt now never to tell a doctor what I eat

I understand this. I used to do this. Now I just go in and ask them to compare my blood/cholesterol tests.

To be fair, my GP agreed that a low-carb way of eating could be beneficial...and I'm a heart patient. So not all are uninformed. And obviously they are better trained medically than I will ever be.

It's just grating that so many don't keep up with new research, or possibly they do hit are constrained by what they're allowed to recommend based on NHS guidelines.

If your mum has a bowl of porridge daily and sticks to LCHF (20-30/50g carbs per day) in addition to that, she might well alose weight but at a much slower pace. There's evidence that 150g or less will result in weight loss. So good luck to her!

MOIST · 07/09/2017 18:59

C4. Congrats to your daughter. What an achievement!

And welcome Alfie. What a beautiful (big!) squishy, pink boy.

Lovely.

Grimbles · 07/09/2017 19:06

Evening all Smile hope everyone is ok.

B. Scrambled eggs and mushrooms
L. Tin tuna in oil with blue cheese
S. Pork scratchings
D. (Planned) piri piri skin on chicken breast, buttered leeks

ragz134 · 07/09/2017 19:28

c4 congratulations to your daughter! My little sister starts her access course today with a plan to go to Uni and read Chemistry next year. Also welcome to Alfie!

Can I have a little totally unrelated boast? Latest essay came back at 83% (A*) after my first two got 53% and 58%, so I am mightily happy and reassured that I can actually do this! Shows what putting the time and effort in can achieve...

Food today
Lunch - fathead pizza
Dinner - salad with fried chorizo, olives, feta and fried halloumi with pesto and olive oil dressing. Amazing!
About a litre of black coffee and 1.5l water so far, another litre to drink this evening.

SayrraT · 07/09/2017 19:33

Awww c4 massive congratulations to everyone! What a great day Flowers

Promise this is the last of the dress until next year but they've taken it out and it's fine. Still aiming to need it taken in next year though Wink I was less than the quoted measurements for that dress so who knows what happened with the ordering.

C4 Congratulations, all round.

Hope you are able to give the superbug a deathblow, to get in with all those gran-ma cuddles.
Or is in not contagious?

Well for me, getting the keto breath and missing out Breakfast and cut way back on the Cabbage - switched to lettuce and spinach - drinking the Water and Black coffee by the gallon and still not breaking the 200.... been 200.4 to 203 for several weeks. And only once saw 199.8 for 5 minutes.

But KOKO
L - 8oz green spring mix ( comes in a 1lb bag, not weighing)
1 Chicken Breast ( about 5oz)
big heaped tablespoon full fat Mayo
squirt of yellow mustard
Heaped teaspoon of Dijon mustard

D - Ground Beef, Chili spices, rest of salad, plus Cheddar grated over for a Taco Salad.

Snack - 4oz bag of Almonds.

re-NHS guidelines posted on another thread but hundreds of doctors want them changed

prettybird · 07/09/2017 20:09

SayrraT - great news on the dress SmileFlowers

.....though just as well you're planning on losing weight Grin and no risk of you putting it on of course Wink

Heaven help if someone else with your measurements had bought that dress and needed it eased by the time of the wedding Shock

SummerSazz · 07/09/2017 20:13

lisbapalea · 07/09/2017 20:14

Still felt queasy so couldn't face any dinner but then remembered I needed to eat something to take some stupid bloody period pills I need to take (mefanemic acid).

The thought of egg or cheese made me feel sick so I had to lift my "no berries in the first two weeks" restriction so had a small bowl of strawbs and raspberries with some thick cream. Hope that won't cock up my plan too much. The berries were delicious though...!

Welcome to the world Alfie and congrats to your daughter c4!

And great news about the dress sayrra - the shop will be laughing on the other side of their face when it needs to be taken in again next year!

YoLoZammo · 07/09/2017 20:23

Wow what a big bonny boy he is C4 !!!

Congrats to you and your DC for Alfie and Uni !

SayrraT · 07/09/2017 20:24

I know pretty it's been taken out 2 inches and I still think it's a bit tight!

C4pinkwheels · 07/09/2017 20:36

Thank you everyone - I have to confess to being a wee bit tipsy right now so I'm sorry to let the side down but today was rather special. Hic hic hic

SayrraT · 07/09/2017 20:54

I think today is a very special day c4

prettybird · 07/09/2017 21:09

It definitely won't be tight next year SayrraT Smile Have as your objective that not only will it not be tight, it will need to be taken in Grin

Use the power of visualisation to aid your progress Wink

starsky22 · 07/09/2017 21:10

C4 Wow, what a day! Well done to your daughter, amazing news and welcome to the world Alfie!

ragz brilliant result, well done!

starsky22 · 07/09/2017 21:15

Sayrra So glad you got the dress sorted and it looks lovely, I know you will end up having to get it taken in!

marioncole I think you can have porridge on the blood sugar diet, which is similar to low carb apart from the porridge of course, so might be worth your mum looking into that?

SummerSazz · 07/09/2017 21:17

Pic attached this time for chicken korma recipe. Giraffeski

c4 congrats all round - a drink or 3 definitely in order.

Sayrra wow, you look fab Smile. Looking forward to the 'I told you so' next year.

ragz great result for your hard work, well done.

Well done to all the losers - wombatoo, clear and many others I can't recall from memory!! I'm sts at the moment but back to it from tomorrow morning (fri weigh in for me)

ASDismynormality · 07/09/2017 21:19

C4. What a fabulous day, congratulations for both!

Sayrah. I agree the dress will need to be taken in next time so don't worry about it being a bit tight now.

Well done Ragz on the A*!

I've only told one Dr I'm on a LCHF diet, the gastroenterologist and she was fine with it - am seeing her next week, it's very clear it's working to get my weight down so I don't imagine she'll be negative about it unless it causes further liver disease (which it shouldnt).
