ragz you're lovely, the dress is gorgeous, and I wouldn't look at you and think 'this woman is trying to lose weight'-- it must feel great to see your hard work paying off and reaping the benefits of your commitment to good health.

Thanks for the fryer information, it's interesting and inneed to investigate more if we are going to make this a regular cooking style in our house. We've already had a bash at making our own vegetable crisps, which I think would be nicer and cheaper than having the kids scoff Walkers or whatever. If nothing else we can avoid any additives and get organic veg, a good oil, a little salt or paprika and voila. (Waiting for someone to come along and tell me fried veg loses all it's nutrients!)

C4 I really, really want your superbug to disappear.

I'm still taking the antibiotics course but good grief, I feel sooooo much better when I pee! Wink

ragz134 · 03/09/2017 12:31

Here's my latest progress photo, not sure I'll ever get my tummy properly flat, I think the overhang will stay. But there's plenty of back, under bra and thigh/hip fat that still needs to piss off!

Went out for buffet breakfast this morning, which was LC apart from possibly the sausages, so I only had two of those. Won't need lunch, just lots of water!

Montypulciano · 03/09/2017 12:31

Ragz, you look wonderful.

C4, how are you today? Hoping the nasty bug is on its way out.

Yesterday was the first sat night in ages when I haven't had wine or gin. Gosh that sounds awful but Dh and I do like a drink Smile. I am not going to drink at home til half term but there are a few social events out already booked at which I will have a glass or two. Then off to Spain fir a week in half term, then completely dry til December. That's the plan at any rate. It's my birthday in a couple of weeks so will see how I feel then. Christmas Day rules apply to birthdays in our house but I will try not to go tooooo crazy.

Am going to start c25k again tomorrow. Have done it several times but haven't run in ages. Anyone here a runner or indeed would like to join me on the programme?

Right, baguettes etc for the kids and something yum for lunch for me. It's twelve thirty and I am not that hungry. Forgotten how satisfying LC is when you do it properly.

Laters, everyone.

MOIST · 03/09/2017 12:51

I'm too old for festivals. Everything hurts.

I ate chips twice and drank a lot.

And now I'm having an allergic reaction to something and my face is puffed up like s puffy thing.

Karma.

Llareggub · 03/09/2017 12:52

Gutted. My shiny mew scales arrived today and they make me 900g heavier than the gym scales I used on thursday. Cross!

MOIST · 03/09/2017 12:53

Monty I started running with c25k a few years ago. Did a half marathon. I'm a bit injured at the mo with a knackered back and don't want to push it but need to get back on it.

Grimbles · 03/09/2017 13:12

So I've put weight on. Back up to 14st1 this morning.

No clue what's happening, I seemed to have gained 4lbs in a couple of days which seems very unlikely. Envy

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 03/09/2017 13:31

Llareggub send them back, no one needs that negativity in their life Grin

Grimbles what exactly have you been eating in those days?

ragz134 · 03/09/2017 13:47

Llareggub are you comparing weights in different days? Times of day? I wouldn't worry too much.
Grimbles fluid retention for some reason? Try drinking lots for a few days.

JustContemplating · 03/09/2017 13:51

I'm doing C25K. I'm on week 2 at the minute. I'm having a good day today but we were out for MIL's birthday last night and I had burger but I took it out of the bun. I did eat the fries though and have wine. It's hard when you go out I think.

OldBooks · 03/09/2017 13:52

Grimbles don't worry, weight fluctuations are so common on this WOE. Trust what you are doing, keep going and don't worry. Drink lots of water.

C4 hope you are doing ok?

Hippa well done for not engaging with the SW cultist Grin thinks, do we sound like crazy lchf cultists?

Ragz you look lovely in the wedding photos and there is a huge difference in the before and after photos.

OldBooks · 03/09/2017 13:55

Ok so please tell me I am not the only one who finds it impossible hard to stick to the woe when AF is looming/started? I am tired, miserable, achey and so hungry! Even if I ate to appetite I would be eating a lot but it's the cravings too... Or am I making excuses?!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 03/09/2017 14:58

OldBooks, if your period is due I recommend a gorgeous ribeye in home made Stilton sauce and large spinach and romaine salad, or maybe some criapher steamed veg such as long stem broccoli or asparagus (the better to chase around any extra blue cheese sauce).

Good fat, good carbs, good protein, and loads of iron (which is what you will be depleted of, yes?)

OldBooks · 03/09/2017 15:11

I had spinach with mascarpone sauce for lunch clear. It has started and is bloody heavy, pun intended

ClearEyesFullHearts · 03/09/2017 15:22

Poor you, OldBooks (I mean that, not sarky!), but well done having something on plan rather than succumbing.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 03/09/2017 15:26

JustContemplating I've never been anywhere that won't give a salad instead of fries, so try that next time. Well done going bunless.

Eating out seems like it can be a challenge but it's usually possible to find many choices of low carb meals. Don't be afraid to ask for substitutions or things on the side.

Those of you who have children with food allergies or intolerances donut all the time!

littlebillie · 03/09/2017 15:34

I'm in Italy and woe is very difficult back on it Monday I'm a bit worried about the damage but my holiday photos tell me I need to persevere 😁

ClearEyesFullHearts · 03/09/2017 15:52

*do it

Sorry for making everyone think about donuts. Blush

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 03/09/2017 16:02

Eating out - I usually order ham & eggs & swap the chips for salad.

OldBooks · 03/09/2017 16:21

well done having something on plan rather than succumbing

I wish I had stuck to woe, clear. I suppose my post wanted to prompt someone to say 'oh yes OldBooks, me too, AF is awful and I eat loads, never mind, get back on it after'. Just to make me feel better about my weakness. Sad I am well aware AF is no excuse and think if at home I would have stuck to woe, but finding it harder on holiday with lots of temptation around.

ilovecherries · 03/09/2017 16:35

I've had a nice afternoon swanning round clothes shops trying stuff on. Having been effectively barred from the high street for years, I really enjoyed myself. Didn't buy anything at all except for a coffee with cream and a magazine, but it was lovely to be able to go into places, pick things off the rails and take them into a changing room. It was lovely, I had honestly forgotten what it was like to do that. My gortex jacket is also falling off me (essential in the Lake District!) and for the first time ever I'm going to be able to buy from the women's section. My last two have been men's XLs. Tried on several today, and the 14s were only a tiny bit snug - so hoping by the end of SSS I will be able to fit perfectly into one.

Just to make me feel better about my weakness

Ah, it's over and done with now. What we need to do is figure out why it's a weak time for you.

And others have said they felt fairly rubbish as well, but the key is to figure out why.

What foods do you crave--is it a sweet thing? Surely we can find something that would satisfy that.

If you're just hungrier all the time then why not bring in more good snacks at that time of the month?

What about water and bouillon?

Have you ever tried lavender? My Tata Prune swears by it. Just smelling it makes everything okay, she says. HmmGrin

ClearEyesFullHearts · 03/09/2017 17:36

ilovecherries I loathe shopping but your description had me raring to get back to it. What a great feeling that must have been. Well done.

ragz134 · 03/09/2017 17:47

cherries sounds like a good trip. cleareyes I hate shopping too. Unfortunately I frequently forget this! I'm the wrong height for most high street shops. Who only ever seem to have the long leg stuff online. I like shopping online but end up sending 80% back. One day I may have a personal shopping experience or get my colours done or something. I am not good at clothes...
Dinner was a lamb Burger on cream cheese spinach. Have a leftover burger for lunch tomorrow with the leftover salad the kids didn't eat (most of it!).

Hi @mumto3boysHE
not a doctor but have a question.

Metforminfacts looked on that website and others. Says "Metformin is the only prescription drug which is classified as a Biguanide. It is used in managing Type II diabetes when the body’s high blood sugar levels are not properly controlled through exercise and diet,"

There is a letter on the BMJ "The evidence for metformin’s effectiveness in type 2 diabetes derives almost entirely from 342 patients with a mean body mass index of 31.6, who were treated with a high carbohydrate diet."

So if you have changed your diet to properly control sugar levels through exercise and diet should you still be on Metformin?

The other list of side effects has 5. The drug is also capable of affecting the level of certain hormones in the body

So is it time to discuss with your doctor
