Morning all. Very excited to hear the final scores!

Here's the Spreadsheet for its last outing this Bootcamp

We'll keep this chat thread going, and when it finishes, we'll start a new one so that we can keep the support going until next Bootcamp.

Oldbooks yes I still feel rubbish, I have super strength antibiotics but I fear this is going to end with a hospital stay at some point.

Distracto you have correctly diagnosed me I broke C4,5,6,7 which is what paralysed my diaphragm and right arm. One year and one month later I suffered a second injury to L4,5 & S1 which did bowel, bladder and legs. I've retained a tiny bit of feeling and activity in my quads at the front of my legs and with the suitable splints and crutches I can stand and walk. I will be doing the great North Run in 2019 and a number of people on here are going to be my team of bitches, you are welcome to join us if you dare.

Distract I like the Awfully Posh and the Snaffling Pig brand pork scratchings. Sainsbury's and Marks & Spencer own brand are nice as well. You can also get pork crunch which isn't quite so hazardous to the teeth but I haven't tried it. Check the ingredients because Mr Porky's some brands have nasties such as dextrose (sugar) and/or MSG in them.

I had a very delicious mindful break from low carb tonight as we went out for dinner and I had pan-fried river trout with chorizo risotto. Risotto is one of my favourite foods and it was only a small portion but it was still luvverly. I also tried the Seedlip Spice liqueur as I was driving they had it at the pub we were in. It's really nice, tastes like a botanical gin, but is carb free. I can't remember who recommended it last Bootcamp but it's a good alternative to alcohol if you're a gin-type avoids making eye contact with BIWI. I tried the Seedlip Garden as well, all in the interest of research obvs, but I found the flavour combination less pleasant and the nose rather overwhelming.

StuntNun · 19/08/2017 21:33

D'oh not carb free Gawd woman you're obsessed with carbs the Seedlip liqueurs are alcohol free. So zero alcohol, zero carb, zero calories.

ilovecherries · 19/08/2017 21:58

Pork scratchings make me gag. I really cannot stomach them. From the smell to the mouth feel they give me the heebie jeebies. I really tried to get over it during BC because they seemed an ideal savoury snack, but I just can't do it.

Distractotron · 20/08/2017 06:06

C4 you magnificent bastard, you. I'm in awe of your determination. Next time I have a pathetic excuse for eating carbs I'll think of you 😁 Hope the antibiotics sort you out. Have you got a packed lunch ready to take to hospital if you have to go?
I'd be up for going to the Great North Run, thanks!
Stunt, thanks, I think the Mr Porky's ones are the dodgy-looking ones I remember trying as a kid and hating! I've enjoyed the ones I've had recently. I saw somewhere that MSG has a bad name because the amounts they gave to test subjects were so high, that they would never have naturally been consumed. I'll see if I can find the article. I could be mistaken though.
Ilove - isn't it annoying! I desperately want to love boiled eggs, tuna, and avocado. But they all sadly make me gip.
If anyone knows a way of making avocados taste like something else for purposes of eating, I'd love to try it 😊

Grah0SoontobeaFatty · 20/08/2017 07:31

totally phiff off today, did the ride today a strong headwind going south so only did 55 miles, to complete the 70 miles would have meant 2.5 hours added to the ride. So turned around and powered wind assisted home 3.75 hour compared with the 5.5. drank 6 liters of water 32c/36c humidex. And weight 200.5 2nd time of seeing 200.x.

Well probably bounce up tomorrow.

Well didn't find any pictures at my heaviest in 2015, but there 2 from 2010 and 2012 - just got bigger up to around 300lb+. The a cycle outfit shot from earlier in the month.

C4 I know not an undies shot like the ladies but as promised I'll post it once I see 199.? still hoping for it this month.
it's so close

@OLDbooks, I see the ups and down like moist and think hummm

can't be fat must be retaining water. Did I drink enough, over do salt not enough salt.. Then focus on what I'm stuffing myself with for a few days.

@Distractotron avocados mashed with mayo, mustard and hot sauce and used as a creamy salad dressing.

makes a lime green coloured cream. I used a fork but suppose you could blend.

Stop talking about pork scratching's I can't get them here. And love them.

Cherrypi · 20/08/2017 08:14

Morning everyone. A week off plan for a holiday and haven't put on any weight but definitely had some side effects. Feel very bloated, skins rubbish again and producing noxious gases. Back on it today.

prettybird · 20/08/2017 09:08

Congratulations on your progress Grah - although that last Lycra shot is a bit of a cheat Wink But you can see a big change - and we don't even have a photo of you at your heaviest. You look much younger now. Smile

Kew - as BIWI she of the big stick says, weeks 3 and 4 are often "stall" weeks, so don't get de-motivated. But I'm surprised that she didn't get her big stick out to ask why are you still counting your carbs? Hmm If you follow the rules and listen to your own body cues (are you really hungry or are you just wanting food for some other reason) you shouldn't need to count carbs.

Talking about weight variation, I too weigh daily but don't beat myself up about it (drink more water and watch my snacks if I've gone up). I was 2lb up all week (on one day, 2.75lb up Shock) but put it down to water retention after starting the Shred on Monday. I decided to do a 24 22 hour fast Friday through to Saturday which was going to coincide with a day busy with rugby so easy to avoid temptation except my bastard SIL made a lovely fried breakfast of square sausage, bacon and eggs for a neighboroughing friend from whom she was collecting wood and I had to sit and watch them eat it Hmm. It seems to have done the trick as I'm now down a pound from last Monday. The four trips to the loo during the night probably helped Grin - which also suggested a bit of water retention I don't do the Shred at weekends

Kewcumber · 20/08/2017 11:34

@prettybird ha ha ha - does BIWI have a big "Don;t count your carbs" stick then?

I'm an accountant, telling me not to count something would be a bit... well... Shock I'm not sure I could go cold turley.

@Grah0SoontobeaFatty - fab photos, very inspiring

Well it's not turning out to be a good weekend, my mum was taken into hospital yesterday and will be in for at least a few days... and we're supposed to be going on holiday with her on Saturday. DS is anxious about it and whether we'll have to leave her at home.

Made fat head coconut bread but I think the coconut taste is too obvious, I just need to find a finer almond flour than the normal ground almonds.

Am planning to make a Cauliflower mash shepherds pie for later today or tomorrow if I can fit it in with hospital visit and taking DS to cinema.

(would it be very selfish of me to have a little weep about DM not being able to provide childcare Tuesday or Thursday which is going to make working life very difficult - don;t answer that, yes I know it is)

Kewcumber · 20/08/2017 11:37

oh and I bought some baby food pots to portion out my almonds

C4pinkwheels · 20/08/2017 12:45

We went out for an early dinner last night, Tapas restaurant which is perfect for lchf, I had squid, belly pork, beef skewers, mushrooms and tender stem broccoli.

I'm feeling worse now because of the antibiotics which have turned my wee luminous green - it stains the toiletConfused

Distracto thank you, I've come a long way in the last couple of years. After the second SCI I didn't leave the bedroom for about four years and had carers with me for ten hours every day - basically on suicide watch. Things reached a head two years ago when an almost successful attempt got my eldest DD her DH and 2 DD's on a plane from NZ (she thought she was coming to arrange my funeral). She took charge, read the riot act to DH and dealt with my skids who had been emotionally bullying me for years. We went for couples counselling and DH chose me over his DC's (very difficult to live with for both of us).
My health continued to be very poor and I needed major surgery to correct a scoliosis that was crushing my right lung, we knew I had muscle weakness in my chest and my breathing was supported with a lung volume recruitment bag, I've had no cough since the first accident and no automatic swallow reflex.

I had major problems post surgery with oxygen weaning and eventually went into full respiratory arrest, investigations showed that my diaphragm is paralysed and has been for ten years. Mind boggling to understand how I survived at all and how it was missed as I was always in and out of hospital with pneumonia and chest infections.

So I'm now ventilated for 12 hours out of 24 and for the first time in ten years getting proper sleep, I feel like a different person now that my ten years of living in a co2 fog have ended. I just want to live and have adventures. Everything has improved my eyesight, skin, hair, nails but best of all my cognitive function has got so much better.

Grah wow you've done an amazing job, you've not just shed lbs but you look about ten years younger, I will keep my end of the bargain and post a picture laterBlush

MOIST · 20/08/2017 15:58

I have a problem.

I have discovered Kendal Mint Cake.

96.5g of carbs per 100g.

Shock
C4pinkwheels · 20/08/2017 16:51

Moist move away from the mint cake immediately.

ilovecherries · 20/08/2017 17:50

Drop the bloody mint cake. It is evil stuff. I'm convinced it rots your teeth and dissolves your kidneys. Every damn shop sells it as well. Go into Booth's instead and choose some fancy imported expensive olive oil.

OldBooks · 20/08/2017 17:53

96.4g of carbs per 100? Shock What's the rest of it?!?!!

C4 sorry you still feel shite. C'mon, your bugs can piss right off.

So I think I might try daily weighing... Have tried weekly weighing and no weighing so this will complete the set!

MOIST · 20/08/2017 17:54

I have hidden the mint cake.

Unfortunately DD2 has been busy in the kitchen and I suspect I will be presented with a cake tomorrow.

wombattoo · 20/08/2017 18:12

MOIST Grin
Grah Great pics. You have done so well.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 20/08/2017 19:00

Mint cake and pork scratching - mmmm.
I'm from the West Midlands and if you go into Birmingham or Wolverhampton market they have stalls piled high with just pork scatchings. Imagine the smell the sight!!

I'm busy making 2 scarecrows for our village scarecrow festival - up to my eyes in papier-mâché - lovely!! No time to think of food though. One is a sort of elderly Dolly Parton with lumpy legs and lumpy boobs and the other is a man in a suit I got from the local charity shop for a pound - I'm not sure who he looks like but I've got a black Elvis style wig so I might make him an aged Elvis lookalike

I've lost 6lb since I started 13 days ago. 😀😀
Can someone tell me if my eating looks ok - am I getting it right?
B a two egg omelette cooked in butter with mushroom and maybe sliced salmon or some ham and a dollop of Boursin or cream cheese and rocket salad
L a carton of total yoghurt and some cream cheese - mascarpone and some cinnamon
D 3 chicken thighs in their skins in butter, chorizo, some mozzarella and lots of green veg inc spinach

This is more or less it - I might have salmon, cod, pork or steak instead of chicken for dinner with veg or salad

Thanks all
Loads of water- 3 litres

littlebillie · 20/08/2017 19:57

As I have lost weight, I was feeling quite svelte however just seen holiday photos and well I need to think again. When is the next camp?

FinallyHere · 20/08/2017 20:16

littlebillie. Think the next official bootcamp will be in the run up to Christmas, starting October-ish.

Meanwhile, we can keep on keeping on (KOKO) her, within the rules of bootcamp. Lots or support and questions answered around here. I still have a omg way to go but am thinking more in terms of 'this is my way of eating' than any specific bootcamp. Join us?

ilovecherries · 20/08/2017 20:55

Delicious roast dinner with 4 different kinds of veggies. Didn't miss the roasties or yorkshires at all (well, maybe the yorkshires just a little bit).

C4pinkwheels · 20/08/2017 20:58

Littlebillie a group of us have committed to doing a super strict September, I think we are doing it on this thread. Please join in, the more the merrier.

OldBooks · 21/08/2017 07:37

I will be joining SSS from the 9th when we come back from holiday Smile

We are off on Friday and I am thinking mostly egg based meals till then. I treated myself to some Clarence Court brand eggs - real proper ones - oh gosh they taste amazing! The yolks are such a gorgeous colour

littlebillie · 21/08/2017 07:48

September it is thanks I'm back on the 5th!
