Morning all

Here's the spreadsheet - sorry to keep you all waiting!

So we have four full weeks before our final weigh-in - still time to lose half a stone if you stick at it.

Here's to a good week ahead Flowers

Will catch up with thread later but wanted to post to be accountable.

Haven't been a carby twat but I felt like I've eaten too much today and snacked too much.

2 sausage and egg

Ate the inside of half of DS's meatball wrap in Pret. Came home and had a spoonful of cauliflower with spoonful of chicken curry.

Dinner was halloumi, chorizo, salad.

Snacked on blackberries and had a can Baileys iced coffee.

Back at work tomorrow - the structure of 3 meals works better for me!!

styledilemma · 04/07/2017 21:25

Anybody else feeling a bit lumpy and bumpy?

My scales show I have lost weight, but when I try clothes on and look in the mirror they seem to be straining in some places and drooping in others.
It's as if my body is losing weight in a very uneven fashion.
I feel a bit bloated as well. I can't blame the flaxseed as I've been having protein rolls instead. (maybe it's that?) Hmm

Hopefully I'm due a woosh.

I hope so.

I don't want to stay this weird, squishy, too fat in some places, yet too thin in other places, odd shape. Shock

SashaSashays · 04/07/2017 21:34

Great to hear how much success people are having, plus its motivating me.

I felt really down about having the McDonalds yesterday, but I seem to have stayed in ketosis and am 1lb down today! Feeling much less wound up about it now, funnily enough.

I've been back at it today and had the following:

B: Chocolate Protein Shake made with almond milk and coffee
L: Butchered Eggs (not sure what the proper name is) on top of low-carb toast with cheese and spinach
D: Haddock with Pesto & Mozzarella and salad

I'm definitely getting better at not just having a shake with chicken or tuna salad. I'm never going to be excited about cooking but am managing to find a balance between cooking and being bored.

Those of you on Bootcamp proper, can you eat berries?

NamelessEnsign · 04/07/2017 21:53

I'm in. Bad weekend, bad weigh in. But I'm still here.

GoodBadOrIndifferent · 04/07/2017 22:10

*Pokes head out from under bed, wonders if it's safe yet
I keep falling into the bad day, have some Wine trap. All i can say is I'm working on it!
I got a bit carried away with the low carb bread, and yes my veg could be better. Blush

WaaWaaWaaa · 04/07/2017 22:25

Well done ASD that's brilliant news!

C4 hope you're making good progress today and not worrying about food too much. 🌷

Nasch if you're not keen on eggs try an egg bacon cheesy muffin type thing. I can't bear eggs but can eat them if they don't taste of eggs. I make a batch a week and freeze them. One out at night and it's ready for brekky at work. Yum

Had a great day foodwise loved my salad at lunch. Not a chip in sight. So pleased to be back on plan. I can see it's working for all of you and I'm beginning to believe in myself doing it too! Grin

littlebillie · 04/07/2017 22:27

Just pleased with the change, I tried on a new culottes jumpsuit in 14 and I'm less sack of potatoes 😁

Week 7 - Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - are you still with us?!
Bibs2014 · 04/07/2017 22:28

Nasch - I get bored of eggs too. How about cooking some sausages / bacon for breakfast?

OldBooks · 04/07/2017 22:33

Food today
B - couple of slices of halloumi
L - salad with cheese
T - courgette and tofu

Didn't manage enough water today, must get on it tomorrow

Copperas · 04/07/2017 22:34

I'm halfway through the Gary Taubes book about sugar, as recommended. It is horrifying. I feel profoundly glad that I started this woe in March, and that I tried to keep the kids away from sugar - not successfully but at least reduced. Did this partly because DH is a type 1 diabetic. He has been low carbing now for three weeks and we are amazed at the good effect on blood sugars. I am really grateful for these threads.

styledilemma · 04/07/2017 22:48

Copperas He doesn't seem to rate cream, or animal fat much. Confused

I think this woe we're on is more like the New Atkins Diet - we can eat meat and fat on meat and cheese and cream, but we must have lots of vegetables as well.

Copperas · 04/07/2017 22:51

Haven't got to that bit yet!

Copperas · 04/07/2017 22:53

But I am really upping the green veg anyway, and cooking s way for two is a lot more interesting!

Copperas · 04/07/2017 22:57

Now I feel a twit! 49% through on kindle and the rest is footnotes. So obviously I missed the anti fat message. I do wonder sometimes if there is a link between my eyes and my brain.

starsky22 · 04/07/2017 22:59

C4 Hope you show some improvement soon and can get home, but in the meantime concentrate on resting and getting better.

Brilliant news ASV

Time Shock reminds me of the time my DS swallowed a coin and we had to check his nappies for it!

Can't remember who mentioned the snaffling pig crackling, but went to the pub for lunch and they sold them, so had some as a starter! They were yum and meant I didn't mind missing out on crispy squid! So thank you!

Food today:
B baked avocado & eggs
L Pork crackling, mussels in a cream sauce with spring onions
D chicken breast with skin, asparagus wrapped in Pancetta, broccoli plus herb & garlic sauce

starsky22 · 04/07/2017 23:01

Copperas maybe your brain purposely skipped over the anti-fat bits because it knows it's rubbish!

thenightsky · 04/07/2017 23:06

Well... just back from an all-inc holiday in Madeira. Disaster. Have put on 6lb Shock in a week!

I think it must have been all the lovely wine. I did stick to low carb food whenever possible though. Mushroom omelette with a slice of cheese each morning for breakfast. Lunch was mostly salads, although I did get a bit bored and occasionally had the soup instead (no bread). Dinner was mostly chicken or fish with piles of cauli and sprouts or seafood etc. I did cave twice at the sight of moist cakes Sad.

Back to it today with gusto. Breakfast - Total Yoghurt. Lunch - broccoli and stilton soup from the recipe thread. Dinner - scrambled egg with smoked salmon.

starsky22 · 04/07/2017 23:13

Read this article today about keto diet mistakes which seems to re-iterate a lot of what BIWI and others have said on here. Thought it might be a timely reminder to help us all stay on track:
www.bodyinbeta.com/top-10-common-keto-diet-mistakes/
Although no.8 recommendation to get more sleep, isn't likely to happen for those with little ones, but at least it does explain the issues it causes.

BIWI · 04/07/2017 23:18

I'm a bit puzzled by your statement that Taubes is anti-fat - he very definitely isn't!

OP posts:
starsky22 · 04/07/2017 23:38

Oh sorry, my mistake, I haven't actually read it, just responded based on what others had said

YoLoZammo · 05/07/2017 00:02

Food log today.

B: smoothie made from ff yog, cream and a small handful of strawberries and raspberries. And a creamy coffee.it didn't fill me up and i was hungry 2 hours later. Eggs tomorrow!
S: home made pork crackling (and 2 mouthfuls of cake Blush )
L: leftover ham and green veg with cheesy topping
D: fajita steak with salad and an unplanned alcoholic drink. Shock

Later i picked on some olives as dinner was early.

Not enough water today so trying to glug down another litre before bed. Had a stressy day for various reasons (family, STBXH and work) and I'm knackered.

Hoping C4 is ok. Unless I've missed it, we haven't heard from her since this morning.

Shout out to C4! Please tell us you are OK when you can.

styledilemma · 05/07/2017 00:30

I only read a bit and I couldn't find any mention of cream. I noticed he says butters OK. ( I did only read a little bit) Confused
I love cream, so probably had it on the brain Smile

C4pinkwheels · 05/07/2017 00:50

Still here, really poorly on forced oxygen or ventilation still can't support my own airway. Five different nuclear strength antibiotics and no improvement yet, if anything I'm worse. A decision will be made at some point regarding a different type of ventilation which will be much higher volume & pressure than my normal ventilator.
The biggest risk I face now is that because I only use some relatively small muscles to breathe when I'm awake, aggressive support runs the risk of me making no spontaneous effort to breathe when it's switched off. That scenario would mean a tracheotomy and permanent ventilation, and in turn you lot will have to push a ventilator and battery pack behind me for the whole Great North Run. Joking aside I'm very very afraid.
