BIWI · 03/07/2017 07:37

Morning all

Here's the spreadsheet - sorry to keep you all waiting!

So we have four full weeks before our final weigh-in - still time to lose half a stone if you stick at it.

Here's to a good week ahead Flowers

That sounds great ilove a genuine change in attitude to food and in your appetite/desires - I want to be there!

ASD Star great news!!

And those managing on little and broken sleep Flowers it's bloody hard! I'm sure there's something physiological which makes your body crave carbs when you are not getting a decent nights sleep

OldBooks · 04/07/2017 16:00

Fantastic ASD!

Nasch I am afraid sleep will not be the same for a while yet... Even DD1 who is 3.5 will bounce like Tigger into our room at 5.30 Confused Like YoLo I have found that this WOE has stabilized me and I have more energy, but could be better.

Jiminny love that explanation of the perils of carby twatdom. Understanding the science really helps me.

AdalindSchade · 04/07/2017 16:06

I fished cheesecake out of the bin once. It was in one of those plastic cake takeaway boxes.

I have spent the day nibbling on 3 squares of 90% chocolate (4.2g carbs overall) and actually astounded at myself. Previous to bootcamp that would have been a chocolate bar or two and a packet of crisps all by lunchtime.

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 04/07/2017 16:21

dust where are the seeds from?

ASD that's amazing. Hoping DH will have the same news for me later.

I ended up not having breakfast, just a coffee with coconut cream. Managed to get through level 2 of the shred and a 5 mile progression run on just that, felt fine.

Made amazing pizza bake for lunch - shredded chicken, chorizo, mozarella, then grated cheese on top. Had it with a big salad.

Got eggs for dinner.

secretsignal · 04/07/2017 16:47

Great news ASD!
Happy Birthday Cathy, hope you've had a lovely day!
ClearEyes it amaze me some of the appalling crap people on this thread have to deal with, if you ever have a wobble re-read your post, there's a lot of strength and determination there.
Hope you're feeling a bit better C4.

secretsignal · 04/07/2017 17:15

There are so many reasons to stick with this woe, I can't believe I'm wavering, I think it's partly a lack of self belief, in a way it seems too good to be true and I keep expecting myself to slip up, or wake up and be back to square one. It's like I want to eat something stupid just to prove to myself what a failure I am. So I'm not going to be a failure. I'm trying not to undermine things and stay focused on the positives!

More energy
No mid afternoon crash
Much better skin
Better mood
Sense of control
Delicious food
No hunger/deprivation, food you are craving often has a LC alternative with a bit of creativity!
Weight loss!!!
More body confidence
Buying loads of new clothes in the sales
All this makes for a happier me which has positive effects for the people around me, DH, DCs, friends. Why would I want to mess with that? Confused.

styledilemma · 04/07/2017 17:25

I know a few of us have been wondering if this woe is having an effect on cholesterol.
I can't answer for cholesterol, but I can tell you that even though I have been adding salt to nearly all my food for 6 whole weeks, my blood pressure is perfect. (had it taken yesterday)

Salt's been demonized over the years, as well as fat Hmm

dustmotesinthesun · 04/07/2017 17:39

hippa they were from my corner shop but you could easily make them at home if you can track down some pumpkin seeds.

style that's reassuring. I think the salt thing is complicated. I think they only had to bring in guidelines because some people stuff themselves with junk which is heavily salted. Some salt is essential. Most low carbers don't eat enough because they're scared of it. I have POTS and my cardiologist sajd I have to eat as much salt as I can. I'm not very good at that sometimes but even when i am I still have healthy low blood pressure.

MOIST · 04/07/2017 17:57

I've been using up stuff from the fridge before I go away. I feel stuffed and more than a bit nauseous.

B. Cream coffee
L. 2 burgers with Gouda, coleslaw
D. Courgette, chorizo and mascarpone

I'm on the night shift and have
Olives, cucumber and cheese
2 burgers with avocado and coleslaw

TimeIhadaNameChange · 04/07/2017 18:02

So yesterday I had:

B - 2 coffees
L - Salad with gammon, spinach, tomato, cucumber, olives and pepper, with olive oil and sage; Yoghurt (Onken, not nearly so nice as Skyr or Total) and double cream
D - Gammon stir fry, baby sweetcorn, sweet and sour sauce (only one in the house, by the time I got home it was nigh on 10 o' clock)
A few more coffees

S - a silver ring. Yes, you read that right. No idea of carb content. Hopefully it's working its way through my system, but no sign of it yet. Eeeeeeeeek!!!!!

Naschkatze · 04/07/2017 18:11

Time How did that happen?

TimeIhadaNameChange · 04/07/2017 18:26

Well, if it did happen (am about 99% certain it did):

Was sitting at the desk at lunchtime. That ring has become very loose thanks to this WOE and slips off easily, so I was rolling it around over my third and second fingers absentmindedly. Then I think I put it between my lips.... then swallowed it???

Thing is, I suddenly noticed it wasn't on my finger and I wasn't sure where it was, looked and couldn't find it anywhere. But then the above came back to me. It was the only time during the day I was sat at the desk and it wasn't my usual office so unlikely to be a memory from another day. I keep thinking I can taste the metal but I'm sure that's just my imagination at work.

I'm keeping a close eye on things (TMI) and if there's no sign by the weekend I think I'll go and get an x-ray. It will amuse the local A and E anyway!

StuntNun · 04/07/2017 19:38

Nasch my DS3 just started sleeping through the night at only 54 months

JiminnyCricket · 04/07/2017 19:42

Evening all :)

I have a smoked Camembert I'm going to bake tomorrow for dinner, what can I dip in it?? I'm going to dip some flax crackers in it, what else?? Overly excited.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 04/07/2017 19:59

In all the excitement I forgot to admit I had a couple of rice cakes yesterday, and a few more today. The only reason being that I wanted something to go down my gullet, just in case the ring is there. I really doubt it is, but having something stodgy go down is good for the mind.

Apologies!

Naschkatze · 04/07/2017 20:00

Thanks everyone for reassuring me that DS will sleep more soon. Not Grin
Stunt. I'm deliberately not thinking about how many years 54 months is. Don't tell me!

Oh Time! Hope it, erm, turns up soon!

Jim Dip cheese sticks into it!! Cheese on cheese!

BIWI · 04/07/2017 20:00

@Naschkatze why are you eating eggs for breakfast if you don't like them? That's silly! Of course you're going to end up cheating then!

There are lots of lovely things you can eat for breakfast - and you also need to remember that you don't need to treat breakfast like a special meal. Just eat leftovers from the night before.

But please, please, please don't start snacking on fruit. Remember that it's not just about the carbs, but it's about breaking the hold that sweet things have over us. You'd be far better increasing your carbs by adding more veg - or even the odd potato (new potatoes are the best option in terms of carbs).

But I agree with with PP - please stop putting yourself under such pressure. Relax a bit!

So food today not bad.
B: livlife bread with butter and pate
L: roasted cauliflower and beef madras
D: 2 egg cheese and ham omelette with loads of butter and mustard
S: few macadamia nuts another slice of low carb bread with butter and pate
Need to snack less, but my fat intake has been lowish these past few days and the alcohol intake high

ClearEyesFullHearts · 04/07/2017 20:09

ASD wins NSV of the day, brilliant!

And Time wins, erm, most interesting menu item. Grin

TimeIhadaNameChange · 04/07/2017 20:11

CEFH - thank you, I'll take that. Don't often win things! I'm not sure I recommend it though, regardless of how few Net Carbs are in it (BIWI - any ideas?????)!

YoLoZammo · 04/07/2017 20:14

Hope you find the ring time.

jim carrot sticks, celery and cucumber. Raw courgettes and broccoli florets are nice and crunchy too.

I had cake today Blush

Just two mouthfuls. It was lovely. I regretted it within the hour when I felt very unwell. Won't do that again. I feel like him out of A Clockwork Orange when Beethoven was ruined for him. I didn't even crave it, it was just there. I am now physically allergic to cake. What have I done!! Shock

Someone slap me with a big wet low carb fish please.

YoLoZammo · 04/07/2017 20:15

Oh and well done ASD. Amazing result. Woohoo for You!

Naschkatze · 04/07/2017 20:52

Biwi I'm just not that keen on eggs but they are easy and filling, so I put up with them.
I do see breakfast as a different meal.. I've never been able to eat leftover pizza or anything in the morning! The thought makes me queasy.
Thanks for the reminder about sweet things/fruit though.

ragz134 · 04/07/2017 21:11

12.5hr shift, dashed into Lidl to buy cake and beer for DH as it's his birthday, then I clipped a wheel on a kerb going through a village and had to change the wheel at the side of the road (using the piddly jack that come with the car). Am shattered now and can't face food.

11am - Greek yogurt with cream
2pm - protein roll with cheese and marmite. 20g green and Black's 85% dark chocolate.

Black coffee. Water.

BIWI · 04/07/2017 21:12

@GoodBadOrIndifferent

So food today not bad.

I'm not really sure I agree. Why are you eating so much bread? You should be getting your carbs from veg and salad. Part of the rules of Bootcamp!

B: livlife bread with butter and pate
L: roasted cauliflower and beef madras
D: 2 egg cheese and ham omelette with loads of butter and mustard
S: few macadamia nuts another slice of low carb bread with butter and pate

*So not much veg going on at all is there? ^

Need to snack less, but my fat intake has been lowish these past few days

Why? This is another rule of Bootcamp!

and the alcohol intake high

When you were complaining about your weight loss being slow/non-existent, I did a quick search through your posts from the beginning, and one of the constant features was alcohol. This really, really, really won't be helping you! Apart from the carbs (depending on what you're drinking), all the time you're drinking you're preventing your body from burning fat. It's no wonder you're seeing slow results

I can't stress enough how important it is that you go back and read the rules and then make sure you're following them properly!
