Week 6 - Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - we're racing on!

Morning campers!

Here's the spreadsheet

Some good losses reported already this morning!

Four weeks left, so we could still see a good half stone disappear if we're vigilant.

The hot weather looks like it's disappearing this week, so hopefully anyone still struggling with water retention should find some relief.

But good luck to us all

D - salad of spinach, ham, tomatoes and olives, with olive oil and rosemary, followed by some more Skyr and double cream

Had three coffees during the day.

Need so long as you're getting the fat from normal sources then you can't overeat fat. So you can eat the fat on meat, pour olive oil over salad, roast, fry, serve vegetables with melted butter on etc. You can overeat fat if you're having bulletproof coffee (with butter and coconut oil in), fat bombs, eating butter or drinking cream from the pot. The fat should be part of your meals, not consumed on its own.

BIWI · 30/06/2017 10:10

There is no daily carb limit on Bootcamp.

You can't eat too much fat.

Write this out 100 times

Ughhh bad day.

Stressful morning led to me eating two big spoonfuls of peanut butter and three 12g bags of sweet and salty popcorn.

So stupid.

I have my feta and asparagus crustless quiche for lunch and chicken thighs fried with black olives, with feta and cauliflower rice for dinner if I can just stop eating.

needtoloseastone · 30/06/2017 11:41

Last nights dinner, cod seasoned with cumin and coriander, spinach cooked in butter and a cheese sauce made of extra thick cream and a tiny amount of cheese!!!! It was yum

Thanks for asking C4. Bootcamp before last, someone mentioned https://www.waysofeating.com. Even before I could look it up, BIWI had confirmed that it was 'known to management' as it were and that it featured our very own scientist guru Stuntnun. To say that my life has not been the same since is a bit of an understatement.

Alls well for me in a public forum when all is going well but I tended to just slink away anytime i hit a bump in the road and be face down in the icecreme before I had time to take a breath. Not anymore, I'm glad to say, now I'm joyfully continuing bootcamp even on holiday and feeing very well indeed on it.

Bootcamp is how I eat now. [happy face] I can easily see myself sticking with this way of eating, it feels sustainable.

BIWI · 30/06/2017 13:21

Grin at 'known to management'!

Hi, I had a thread in chat about low-carbing and it was suggested I come over here. Can I join in this late into it?

I'm doing something slightly different but it is low-carbing all the same, will that be verboten?

FinallyHere · 30/06/2017 13:45

Hi Sasha Welcome.

Have you found the recipe thread? I think there is a link to it at the top of the thread.

littlebillie · 30/06/2017 13:55

Thank you for all your messages 😃

SashaSashays · 30/06/2017 14:08

FinallyHere I'm just reading through it now actually. Taking me a bit of time as its pretty lengthly. Some good suggestions so far.

Do I need to do anything to 'join' and does it matter if I'm doing a slightly different version of this?

MOIST · 30/06/2017 14:39

I have spent hours doing emergency clothes shopping. I am off to a posh awards doo tonight. I look hideous in everything. I am not happy.
Off for a haircut.
I'll share a pic of my outfit later. It's not pretty.

MOIST · 30/06/2017 14:51

I've also forgotten to eat anything today as busy and tense. Argh!

HemanOrSheRa · 30/06/2017 14:58

I'm sure you will look lovely MOIST. I haven't eaten either. Wasn't hungry earlier then mad morning at work. I'm home now - Craig is coming in his Cabbage Van very soon bringing Linwood crackers so I'll wait now. I'm making Fathead pizza for dinner. Yippee! I'll eat early as I'm on call from 7pm. Boo!

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 30/06/2017 15:27

MOIST you'll be fine.

Bad planning meant I haven't eaten lunch today, bought an egg & spinach pot from boots but dropped it on the floor, gah! Then bought an almond shot from ASDA, which DD2 shared. (Cheers love) Now just having a quick chai tea before going to get DH prescription & collecting DD1 from school club.

DH is going out for dinner tonight with his friend, so I have a continental meat & cheese spread with olives & stuffed jalapenos. Yummers.

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 30/06/2017 15:31

PS another recent discovery:

www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Ape-Crispy-Coconut-Curls-Salted-Chocolate/349458011?ULP_CAMPAIGN_ID=52&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_tmLg-Tl1AIVbrHtCh2JAQTLEAQYBCABEgIp1_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=COiWgoXk5dQCFauG7Qod8wgJRA&dnr=y

They are soooooooo delicious. Found some in the cupboard just now when I was putting the picnic food away.

SayrraT · 30/06/2017 16:02

I'm sure it's fine to join in sasha but what is slightly different about what you are doing?

needtoloseastone · 30/06/2017 16:20

Stunt so I can't have a teaspoon of cream on its own? It keeps me going in between meals

Kleptronic · 30/06/2017 16:39

I'm going out tonight too! Have no clue what to wear. Is it alright if I post outfit pictures?

I have a new chambray dress but I think it's a bit tight. Plus might be too day-dress.

I had a halter-neck maxi dress planned, with heeled sandals, but the weather's crap.

I could go back to coated skinnies, but it's a bit muggy.

I have a stripy skirt I was too fat for, but I may look like a pregnant zebra.

Aargh!

ilovecherries · 30/06/2017 16:45

Oh, I want to see all the outfits!

cathyandclare · 30/06/2017 16:50

Looking forward to seeing the pics too! It's the day I have to squeeze myself into my dress for DD's school leavers' do. I've been weeing all day so hoping for a timely woosh!!!
Already cried a gazillion times, so going that will have lost a few inches too Grin

SashaSashays · 30/06/2017 16:51

Sayrra, ’Slightly different’ means the following for me:

  1. I am counting calories and carbs. Mainly because the month before I started this way of eating I was doing more of a Keto type approach of having LCHF with unlimited calories and I barely lost any weight and felt dreadful. I wouldn’t say I have a sensitive stomach but all the fat did not agree with me at all, and consequently left me wanting to eat nothing but dry toast.

After doing a bit of research I reduced my calorie intake, which in turn keeps my fat consumption down to levels which my body seems to tolerate. In order to then strike the right balance I count my carbs too so its breaks down roughly as 10% Carbs, 60% Fat and 30% Protein. I’ve lost around 1.5 Stone in a month, am in ketosis and feel fantastic, if a little bored.

  1. I’m not too strict about having 3 meals per day. Never a breakfast person but my appetite is down a lot so if I’m not hungry or too busy I don’t eat
  1. I do eat some processed foods (Turkey bacon, Chicken Sausages, Almond Milk, artificial sweeteners, salad dressing, Oppo Ice Cream)

Similarly though I do drink around 4L per day, eat probably 80% unprocessed, eat minimal dairy and most importantly eat Low- carb. I’m not sure if this all means I’m unsuitable of this thread or not.

StuntNun · 30/06/2017 16:52

Need if you can keep it to a teaspoon of cream that's not so bad. Some people end up eating half the pot! But cream may not be the best snack because it can potentially cause an insulin spike that will leave you hungry again in an hour or two. If you fine yourself having cream several times a day then that's probably a bad sign.

ilovecherries · 30/06/2017 16:54

This would definitely be a NSV apart from the fact bras with humongous cups are so bloody expensive, and I'm still a long way from M&S or Sainsbury's bras. Husband commented that my tee shirt was looking a bit lumpy in the boobs. Pulled up my top and flashed him that what he is seeing is bra cups that are no longer full. My K cups are suddenly (I'd swear it happened over night!) far too big.

AdalindSchade · 30/06/2017 17:22

sasha apart from counting carbs and calories that sounds like bootcamp light
