Evening all!

Just getting this out there, so that everyone knows where to go/what to do in the morning.

Here's the link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I'd like to say a massive thank you and Flowers to Sayrra and Wombattoo who set this up and maintain it for us all.

PLEASE don't touch anything other than the cell where you input your weight.

If your name isn't on the list, just add it to the bottom, and it will be magically re-alphabetised to include you.

It's called the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness because of all the information and resources that are available to us. Look at the tabs at the bottom - the rules are there, along with the veg counter, and all manner of resources for you to read up more about low carbing.

If you can't access it, or can't input your weight, just add your weight to the chat thread, and someone will do it for you. (I believe it's difficult to do it from your phone).

But more than anything else, a massive good luck to you all!

All I can say to you is follow the rules!

It does work, but only if you follow them.

Good luck everyone.

With that cheese sauce cauliflower may become a staple part of my diet. Not great with lactose, so hard cheddar and cream are a good way to get calcium in . Yep BIWI - I hadn't realised blood sugar affects melatonin so it'll be interesting Smile

SayrraT · 06/02/2017 20:08

Just managed to add rows from my phone!

BIWI · 06/02/2017 20:20

Thanks, Sayrra!

Day 1 done. Feeling good.

B - coffee with cream
L - turkey slices, lettuce, mayo, avocado
D - chicken breast fried in butter, topped with philly/herbs. Leek & cabbage
S - mozzarella and a babybel
4L water

ThisProductContainsBatteries · 06/02/2017 20:29

4 litres water? Shock

Holy moly, I struggle with 2!!!

BIWI · 06/02/2017 20:32

Then it's clear, ThisProduct that you haven't read Bootcamp rules!

Rule no 6:

"The more weight you have to lose, the more water you should drink. This is from www.low-carbdiet.co.uk/. Water is essential to weight loss for those who eat low-carb. The minimum consumed in a day should be:
Your Weight----Litres
140lbs-----2.5
160lbs-----3.0
180lbs-----3.0
200lbs-----3.5
220lbs-----3.5
240lbs-----4.0
260lbs-----4.5
280lbs-----4.5
300lbs-----5.0
320lbs-----5.5
340lbs-----5.5
360lbs-----6.0
380lbs-----6.5
400lbs-----6.5
High levels of ketones in the blood stream can lead to a reduction in ketone production, therefore being well hydrated could aid in keeping the levels low and ketone production ongoing. Consuming enough water can have many other positive side effects: aids your kidneys with the processing of protein, reduces the retention of water, helps with preventing constipation, and reduces the levels of ketones released by your breath, which in-turn will reduce breath odour. However, drinking a lot of water can mean that you also need to keep an eye on your electrolyte balance. You need to make sure that you are consuming sufficient sodium and potassium. On a low carb diet we can eat more salt, so make sure that you are cooking with salt and adding salt to food, if you like it. Good, low carb, sources of potassium are spinach (raw), avocado, mushrooms, courgettes and asparagus, as well as salmon and yoghurt."

Having checked the spreadsheet, you should be drinking a minimum of 3 litres!

ThisProductContainsBatteries · 06/02/2017 20:51

I have read them BIWI, I'm just amazed anyone could physically down 4 litres. It would make me throw up and I speak from experience.

dementedma · 06/02/2017 20:52

I didn't manage my 3 ltrs today. Will try harder to tomorrow. Difficult when in meetings as can keep running to the loo.

Patapouf · 06/02/2017 20:55

4l sipped throughout the day isn't too hard, it's just remembering to do it and the hassle of popping to the loo every half an hour. I've managed about 3.75l today and I actually feel a bit thirsty.

Feeling really positive about this BC, I already have the yucky metallic taste in my mouth and didn't feel too weak to go to the gym this evening which is good.

BIWI I know that we dont count calories on this WOE but are they totally redundant? If so is that because all calories were not created equal?

Glitterkitten24 · 06/02/2017 20:58

Yas- 3.5l of water, done!
I think drinking the water is harder than making low carb food choices!

BIWI · 06/02/2017 21:00

Patapouf no, they're not totally redundant - as you get nearer your goal weight, you'll find that weight loss will slow right down, and you will need to start being aware of how much you're eating.

However, it's also definitely true that all calories are not equal! Calories from carbs are much worse for you than calories from fat or protein.

I notice lots of people are having cream in their coffee. Is that just personal taste or is it better to have cream than milk? I have two coffees a day and have quite a bit of milk in the (about 75ml of full fat), would I be better off switching to cream?

dementedma · 06/02/2017 21:21

Personally I find cream in coffee makes it too greasy, but I know a lot of people do it when low carbing

ThisProductContainsBatteries · 06/02/2017 21:23

owl milk is quite carby so bear avoided

Veryflummoxed · 06/02/2017 21:26

Pippi that was amazing

Someone asked how much yogurt people are eating for breakfast. I have about three well heaped teaspoons as a serving. Not very filling if you're hungry though. This morning I had less, but a boiled egg with butter as well. Have also had a coffee with cream then chicken salad, lots of skin, for lunch

Dinner was belly pork and cabbage with butter.

Three and a half litres water consumed. YAY!

Week 1 Early Spring Low Carb Bootcamp - at last!
DearPrudence · 06/02/2017 21:44

It takes a conscious effort for me to drink 4L of water but it's doable. And when I don't have enough it immediately shows in my weight loss, so it's worth the effort.

nextchapterplease · 06/02/2017 21:52

Veryflummoxed thanks - it was me who asked about the yoghurt - I am so hungry in the mornings by the time I have got two DC out the door I just wouldn't last long on that amount - as I suspected I have been trying to eat way too big a portion . Maybe I need to stick to eggs though it does get a bit dull.

Your dinner looked delicious!

mistywillow17 · 06/02/2017 21:53

Had a couple of thick and juicy lamb chops with roast celeriac and some broccoli tonight - it was lovely to be able to eat the golden fat on the chops without any feelings of guilt. I've done ok with the water - lost track a bit halfway through the day, but it's at least 5 pint glasses, which I think is nearly 3 litres. Lots and lots of trips to the loo though - my colleagues must think I have a bit of a problem

sheepysheep · 06/02/2017 21:56

Thanks stuntnun - I will experiment with the gels. I haven't felt hungry on runs yet, nor shaky, so I think it's true that running on fat reduces the need for constant refuelling. I haven't got up to 20+ mile runs yet so I haven't been able to assess the effect of LCHF on wall hitting. I am training for a charity coast to coast triathlon - it's iron man distance but over two days rather than one. Day 1 is 120 mile cycle and day 2 is swimming then the marathon. I read somewhere that there are 20000+ Kcal of energy available from even skinny bodies so there should be plenty to tap into, but it's a pretty demanding challenge so I think I will be happier psychologically knowing that I can fuel if I need. I will definitely experiment with the gels before hand as I don't want any digestive upsets on the bike day whilst wearing a cycling bib hahaha!!
Tartle - I will try your suggestion of BPC when I get into longer run territory - all the science says that there shouldn't be a wall and I hope it's true. In my pre LC days I did hit the wall in a marathon and it was thoroughly miserable - that was 2012 and I haven't done one since cos it was such a horrible experience. This time it will be different! How do you consume your post-run protein? I was wondering about some kind of whey shake for ease but I'm out off cos they sound grim!

Tartle · 06/02/2017 22:27

I've toyed with protein shakes and also low carb protein bars but I'm not totally convinced. Mainly as they are full of other crap and I have been vaguely trying to paleo too (although my cavemen are quite advanced and have managed to domesticate cattle!)

Generally I just try to run before a normal meal and then make sure I eat a decent portion of protein. Or have some cooked chicken/eggs or a tin of tuna to hand.

SomebodyWillGetHurt · 06/02/2017 23:57

Just checking in. Was out all day. I'm so glad to see all the food ideas. Will get onto spread sheet now

Grah0SoontobeaFatty · 07/02/2017 06:44

3 rashers of back bacon

L 2 cups cabbage
2 cups Ground beef and veg

S 4 Chicken thighs roasted in butter
6 cups leaks celery courgettes cabbage spinach soup

1 bullet proof coffee and about 3.5litres of Fluid black ginger tea, black coffee and water

Got the bike up on the roller tonight so start that tomorrow -

Imissmy0ldusername · 07/02/2017 06:58

Sooo, 3 pounds off, according to the scales in one day - it must have been the water!

B: Boiled eggs
L: Roast chicken, avocado & cucumber
D: Chicken thighs, broccoli & whatever veg I can find to roast.

playmobilpeacock · 07/02/2017 07:11

3lbs already! That's impressive.

My day ended rather badly with a killer headache and I was in bed by 7. Which meant I didn't have dinner in the end but DH was happy to eat it for me Hmm

I've done low carb before so I know you can feel unwell for a few days but it's never happened this quickly before.

This morning I'm having coffee with cream and some egg and broccoli muffins.

Lunch is chicken Caesar salad and ox cheek stew for dinner.

Good luck with day 2!

ChesterDrawers · 07/02/2017 07:37

I have stinking cold and all I want is a Lemsip and crisps, lots of crisps waaaaaahhh Sad But I won't have one, just paracetamol and lots of water for me.

Today's plan:
B: eggs, butter
L: halloumi and salad, olive oil
D: courgetti assuming Mr Tesco brings me some this morning with pesto, cream, bacon and mushrooms
